Dude, what a great video! I never knew this was possible. Just ordered a Bambino and came across this video, so excited and will set up my watch with a clasp just like this. Thank you, keep it coming!!!!
Thanks for doing this video, Mark! I just received my Polaris GMT, and the next step is to replace the band...shopping for a croc/reptile band has I write this...like the deployment clasp install.
I put a rose deployant clasp and a croc band on my rose gold Orient Capital (the Capital has day & date). Very nice. Watch was purchased from LIW, of course!
A late reply to this. I could definitely invest in the cost to make this watch look even better with these parts. The Bambino is beautiful , and this made it even better. The over all sad thing is though, as much as I love the look of the Bambinos, that strangely huge size of them would look to big on my wrist. I sincerely wish they'd change their sizes to around 38 mm. Anyways, great vid once again, very easy to follow as usual.
I love my Bambino, but one of my beefs is that in order to get the right strap fit, I have to really deform the strap every time I put on the watch. This means that at some, not to distant point, the strap will start to look really ratty. Thanks for giving me a solution to this problem.
the stock Orient straps make that classic watch look cheap, with its "shiny" patent leather shoe look. They mostly use that same dark brown color as well. I swapped my strap out for a Hirsch muted dark brown alligator strap with deployant clasp, and it elevated the watch 10 fold You would think after all the complaints about the strap, orient would make a change to a more standard size...............nope!...................the watch itself is fantastic. I have 3. I also changed another Bambino strap to a PERLON. I highly recommend that strap for a look you can customize fast with a variety of colors
literally just bought a gen 1 v1 rose gold bambino, and replace the original buckle with rose gold deployant clasp. what a coincidence! looking forward to order custom strap for this beauty
man zahalem - Perlon does have a sophisticated "Jethroessence" to it that would not look out of place lounging by the cement pond reading a book. But is it tasteful?
I like nato straps on my bambinos. On the version 4 it's no problem getting a 22 mm strap. On the others with 21 mm lugs should I get 20 or 22 mm straps
Great video. I love my Bambi. I did notice you referenced the Crocodile strap. Thought it was odd the company is selling an authentic caiman leather and calling it a Crocodile strap. Isn't a caiman a cousin of an alligator?
I love these videos. I bought a watch tool kit. I am in the process of replacing batteries in about 7 old watches. Some of the watches I have had since I was in grade school and they still work. I just bought a Orient Bambino Gen 4 Blue faced watch and love this strap replacing video. Do I direct order from your store or through Amazon?
can you make a review about radio tri star watches they are really popular with people from the middle east and India maybe not so much in the US but I believe that they are good swiss watches that just need to be in the spot light
Thanks for another great video Mark. I have a question on the various deployant buckles available though. My Hamilton Jazzmaster Face-2-Face has a deployant buckle, but the style is quite a bit different. Instead of the tail laying over the buckle end of the strap and then needing to be fed under the keepers, the buckle on the Hammy is such that the tail feeds UNDER the buckle end of the strap after you've selected the appropriate sizing hole, so there's no need for keepers and you end up with a super clean, tail-less look once the watch is on your wrist. Are you familiar with this style of deployant buckle, and can they be purchased in the aftermarket? Thanks!
Great idea, however the deployant clasp you suggested is so rough and edgy that it made the whole contraption unwearable for me. Switched to the croc strap with normal clasp and feeling happy now. The bambino looks awesome with it. I wish your idea worked for me , Mark. Thanks
Ugh my quest is over. Am Bambino G1 V1 .... yes with that weird "Water Resist" thing; white with pointy hour markers, and could not find a 21mm strap ... at least not one I wanted to spend more on than the watch. How comfortable is that deployment clasp though against the inside of the wrist?
My dad is always complaining that he goes through loads of watch straps for his every day work watch and I was intending on doing this for his birthday, a timely and useful video! Do you find that most of Hirsch's 20mm straps tapet to 18mm buckles?
Just when I thought it was safe watching a LIW video. Another thing to spend my money on. Oh but what a neat thing to spend it on though. Nice touch to an already classy watch.
I have the V4 which has 22mm lugs. Still on it's original strap which has broken in nicely. Americans seem to be a bit over the top about 'bands' as you say. When we go to watch bands it's usually The Rolling Stones.
Marc: is there any reason to also reverse the strap direction (tail at 12 o’clock) like the come on Seiko’s or the orients that have the clasp or is it just their tradition to do that? I can see the clasp opens the same direction as a bracelet when installed that way but it seems weird. I’m assuming other makers don’t do that?
Nice video- Actually, if one has the tools, time and inclination, they can take a 22mm, measure it and snip it to fit the 20mm lugs and do the same at the buckle end if ya have s slightly larger buckle end or "square " design and I do the same with 20mm straps for a 19mm lug width. Takes a little time however I've been doin it for decades and if ya have a simple small wire cutter and a few minutes, you'll get a great result. I just found that one, I had many many more nice 20mm straps, both croc/gator and shell cordovan/horween leather than I had watches and Secondly, these are gorgeous straps and I just wasn't seeing them in the 19mm and 21mm sizes and even if ya do, why would ya spend the money when you can mod a current strap sitting in a drawer? Just an idea😎 Stay well Gents🍻 RP
One question. Why don't people simply put a 20mm strap on watches with 21mm lug width? Does half a millimetre on each side of the strap make that much of a difference?
i've done the reverse, used 20mm straps on watches with 19mm lug width. If the strap is soft enough, you can get away with it. It usually works with NATO straps too, but in the end only you can decide if you're ok with the look.
Here's the major issue. If the spring bars have shoulders, then a smaller strap can "catch" the shoulder and retract the spring bar, causing the watch to fall off.
I wish people would wear their watch on the wrist rather than the bone. Looks silly in a t shirt but you can get away with it in a jumper a bit more. Plus it massively affects your wrist movements and the crown digs into your hand. Just an opinion.
Val Strambu alligators are mean bastards, my uncle is a botanist and he goes to the farms and talked to the workers and they said they are extremely dangerous.
Cow leather it's from the cows already killed for meat, but please, crocodile leather it's just too cruel and sadic, even more when you knoe they are alive when they are peeled of
Dude, what a great video! I never knew this was possible. Just ordered a Bambino and came across this video, so excited and will set up my watch with a clasp just like this. Thank you, keep it coming!!!!
That strap and clasp combo just puts that orient in a higher level.
Wow they look absolutely beautiful with the matching colour clasps. I'm yet to add a Orient Bambino on my wrist.
Nice upgrade, thanks! Hint, hint. For a complete overhaul what the world needs now is sapphire crystal replacement for the Orient Bambino.
Awsome! i just changed my Orient Bambino strap with the same set up... The watch looks so much better.
5 years old and it’s still a useful video.
I think I will be getting a strap and deployment clasp for my Bambino. This really makes it look premium.
Excellent Marc, great choice of mod, who needs to spend thousands. Full of good info for every level. Great stuff!
Thanks!
Very nice job indeed Mark, the deployant clasp is very classy and much kinder to expensive leather straps than a conventional buckle.
Thanks for doing this video, Mark! I just received my Polaris GMT, and the next step is to replace the band...shopping for a croc/reptile band has I write this...like the deployment clasp install.

It's the little things that make the details. That really vamps up that Bambino. 👍
Sure does, thank you!
I love my Bambino, but one of my beefs is that in order to get the right strap fit, I have to really deform the strap every time I put on the watch. This means that at some, not to distant point, the strap will start to look really ratty. Thanks for giving me a solution to this problem.
Nicely trimmed and sculpted beard Mark, looking good.
LOL, thanks.
Great video as always marc
Thank you.
Wanted to do the same on my Seiko bellmaster.. had no idea how to... Great information when needed... thanks
Thanks!
Great informative video. I'll have to think about doing that to my Bambino.
Sure!

LOL, true about the sizing!
LIA has got some great crocodile straps! i like the real ones not the embossed.
Another helpful video, thank you Marc. Clearly an upgraded strap and buckle is a good value.
Ordered my Orient classic today what a steal🤗😚
Hirsch are superb quality. Been using Grand Duke and Carbon version a long time. A worthy uppgrade. Great video!
literally just bought a gen 1 v1 rose gold bambino, and replace the original buckle with rose gold deployant clasp. what a coincidence! looking forward to order custom strap for this beauty
Perfect! Sounds beautiful.
I see a Orient i click like
LOL, me too :)
Very nice! I really like that clasp. Good video. How about another video featuring ways to tastefully dress-down this watch for more everyday use?
Good idea, thanks!
man zahalem - Perlon does have a sophisticated "Jethroessence" to it that would not look out of place lounging by the cement pond reading a book. But is it tasteful?
Cant beat a deployant clasp and some nice crock. Orient for the win good job mark 👍
Ordered the parts. Followed the video and converted Bambino V1G1. Looks nice. Went with flat not shiny strap.
Great job, thanks for sharing.
I just use 22mm leather straps, they work well.
Is it nicly on? Or a bit off
I like nato straps on my bambinos. On the version 4 it's no problem getting a 22 mm strap. On the others with 21 mm lugs should I get 20 or 22 mm straps
Hello, excellent video, so if I want to chanche just the buckle on the stock strap, which size should I get for this same watch???
Great vid Mark thank you !
Thanks!
Great video. I love my Bambi. I did notice you referenced the Crocodile strap. Thought it was odd the company is selling an authentic caiman leather and calling it a Crocodile strap. Isn't a caiman a cousin of an alligator?
I'm not well versed in my hides, but I think the Caiman (a cross between the two) is the animal and the croc is more of the pattern?
The last I heard is that they are good fellas anyway...
Hey Marc, what do you think of squeezing 22mm strap between those lugs? I really like this one, however this 21mm lug size is making me crazy...
U wear two watches, u get my like
Excellent video!

Do most straps have a pinned buckle you can remove to install a deployant? It's a nice upgrade, and really does elevate the watch I agree.
Yes, most do.
when will the Toscana black strap be back in stock?! its sold out on your site and I cant find anywhere
Well! I guess I have to do the upgrade! I will order from you, Thanks Bud! I think! Ed C 😊
can you make a review about radio tri star watches they are really popular with people from the middle east and India maybe not so much in the US but I believe that they are good swiss watches that just need to be in the spot light
What’s the polished clasp model- or item number on your website?
LookiSIlver face with rose gold arms and dial, white face, would Black crocodile straps work with the Rose Gold accents?
Thanks for another great video Mark. I have a question on the various deployant buckles available though. Sounds cool, I will have to check it out.
Does a 22mm deployment clasp fit on the 21mm bambino band?
Nice video. One small note - the thing you called the prong is called a 'tang'.
Yes, indeed. I still think it should be called a prong; more descriptive.
Tang being 'Old English' for 'tongue' is properly descriptive
Deployant clasp was invented by Cartier real luxury
Hi Marc, thanks for the video. I want to order the same polish buckle and the crocodile strap. What are the items number ?
Look in the video description.
I love ORIENT watches.
Great idea, however the deployant clasp you suggested is so rough and edgy that it made the whole contraption unwearable for me. Switched to the croc strap with normal clasp and feeling happy now. The bambino looks awesome with it. I wish your idea worked for me , Mark. Thanks
I like the bambino 2,2 but is the rotor noise loud? my skx is dead quiet and I can't really stand any rotor noise. thanks!
Yes, it will be louder than your SKX.
Can change with stainless steel strap?
What watches are u wearing i can’t find it maybe I’m not spelling it right
Crocko straps for 49USD ?
That cayman was sick ?
Ugh my quest is over. Am Bambino G1 V1 .... yes with that weird "Water Resist" thing; white with pointy hour markers, and could not find a 21mm strap ... at least not one I wanted to spend more on than the watch. How comfortable is that deployment clasp though against the inside of the wrist?
Not bad; you get used to it and don't even notice it after a while.
nice video via professional reviewer
Great video but i believe that moding a casio and using adaptors will be more interesting
Not to the several thousand people who I sold this watch to!
Is the orient GMT still available?
What size buckle does the Orient Bambino v4 have?
great video very usefull
I enjoyed it a lot
My dad is always complaining that he goes through loads of watch straps for his every day work watch and I was intending on doing this for his birthday, a timely and useful video! Do you find that most of Hirsch's 20mm straps tapet to 18mm buckles?
Yes, most do.
Hey great video. Does this croc strap come in brown?
Only black, sorry.
Very helpful!
what size deployant clasp size to use for Toscana Black Genuine Crocodile Watch Strap ML-90101 (21mm lug)?
18mm
thank you
So if I bought the watch and the accessories could i get you guys to do the mod and deliver the finished modded watch?
Sorry, no.
Just when I thought it was safe watching a LIW video. Another thing to spend my money on. Oh but what a neat thing to spend it on though. Nice touch to an already classy watch.
Indeed!
This is killer!!!!
it’s a strap monster!
wish you shipped to norway
185/35 please!
great vid thankyou
Thanks for checking it out.
What's the difference between Cayman crocodile with Australia crocodile?
Cayman is a breed of animal from what i understand.
Has anyone added a bracelet to one of these? Specifically asking about the champagne dial.
I have the V4 which has 22mm lugs.
Still on it's original strap which has broken in nicely. Americans seem to be a bit over the top about 'bands' as you say.
When we go to watch bands it's usually The Rolling Stones.

I can see the clasp opens the same direction as a bracelet when installed that way but it seems weird. I’m assuming other makers don’t do that?
Will you ever sell 18mm straps Marc?
Maybe; problem is 95% of our watches start at 20mm.
Guys, any strap advice for orient FAC0000CA0 (grey dial)?
aco I have the same watch. I bought a camel brown leather strap. Looks very very nice. Taking example from bambino version 4, very similar result. 👍🏻

Thanks Marc, as alway. I missed the name and model number of the Italian leather strap you used. Does it come in brown also?
Check the video comments. It only comes in black (currently)
Got that hunger games beard going on
Hope that's good.
Nice video-

I recommend a fresh single edge razor blade. It does work well; nice idea!
One question. Why don't people simply put a 20mm strap on watches with 21mm lug width? Does half a millimetre on each side of the strap make that much of a difference?
yes it does, done this and it didn't really fit

I would rather squeeze a 22mm in. Cant stand the gap but that is just me.
Here's the major issue. If the spring bars have shoulders, then a smaller strap can "catch" the shoulder and retract the spring bar, causing the watch to fall off.
Done it before and it didn't bother me seeing the spring bar.
40mm looks really big.
I wish people would wear their watch on the wrist rather than the bone. Looks silly in a t shirt but you can get away with it in a jumper a bit more. Plus it massively affects your wrist movements and the crown digs into your hand. Just an opinion.
you always wear 2 watches?
So where do you get the croc strap?
Read the description of the video!
Sassy!!
crap, now i have to buy these two items :(
😀
I don't like that clasp for when you're using this as a dress watch. You'll have issues with your shirt cuff.
I hate those double folding claps. They dig in my wrist. I like a simple buckle on all my straps, so I repalced them. I'm a simple man.
Poor aligators!
Alligator stew?
Yummy!
Taste like chicken.
Val Strambu alligators are mean bastards, my uncle is a botanist and he goes to the farms and talked to the workers and they said they are extremely dangerous.
probably because people keep messing with them lol
WAFFLE WAFFLEWAFFLE
Cow leather it's from the cows already killed for meat, but please, crocodile leather it's just too cruel and sadic, even more when you knoe they are alive when they are peeled of
More selling products than showing how to fit clasp.
Faux leather
Pleather!
So you basically changed a strap on a watch, took 15 min vid to do that ;)
Yup, sure did. Actually it was more like an hour before editing.
