Just read through the comments and a common theme/request is a BIOS update. I will be revisiting this board in a future video. Didn't think to check BIOS update, but will remember this for the future 👍 This feedback is much appreciated!

I find it interesting that it had to be this motherboard specifically. I remember trying to mitigate this issue myself and then seeing people on reddit complaining about the same issue, most of them having this exact motherboard.
I might test version 4005 and see if I can reproduce the same issue again. I'm still surprised that it would have been still present in a version nearly 2 years after the bug occurred. Then again, ASUS never really posted a changelog similar to this phrase "Fix inconsistent DRAM POST failure".

Hey Greg. I’m a professional IT systems analyst for the local government I live in. I also build computers on the side for supplemental income. Idk why but I have come across this Tuf series X570 board almost a dozen times and 7 of these boards were either defective, had a bad memory slot, corrupted BIOS out of the box or a CPU problem. I’m not sure why but these X570 Tuf boards are just horrible and not quite sure why. It’s the only series of boards that I have had a problem with. Just food for thought.

@@owboky102050 You test with one stick to find out which slot/channel is causing it to fail. also 4 stick could cause a false fail with xmp/docp causing memory errors.

One thing I always do is slightly pull out on the board if one of the memory slots don't work. I've had it so that the back of the board contacts the case and causes this issue on more than a few PC's I've fixed. Usually because the person who built it left a standoff out or used wrong screws.

Has happened to me numerous times, when my Ram wouldn't work in dual channel or would only work at 2666mhz instead of 3800mhz and BIOS update fixed it all. Any Ram incompatibility issue is most likely from BIOS being out of date.

I've literally binge watched like 4 episodes so far and loving it. Especially since I own two of my own rigs (one for work and one for home) as a video editor. I've learnt how to assemble my own builds and load windows and its become somewhat addictive.

i love your content greg. always super educational . I love computers and i build them as a side job. so many differnt things can go wrong even with a brand new unit. it can be a bios update, the type of cables you use, and so much more. i remember one time i was using a radeon vii and the problem was i used a single plug off my modular power supply that had 2 6 pins. i had to use two plugs off the power supply so 1 6 pin off each plug because it was a cheap power supply

I love this series! I think it's so cool what Greg is doing - the used systems I've flipped over time, I do the same, though I can afford giving away items, but the service is free for as long as you keep the system... Though, I can't do it for everyone (live in a city with 1,3 million inhabitants)...
One thing though, that case frontpanel is triggering AF... it's just, ARGH, I just wanna get the drill out everytime it's in the shot!

Weird things I have seen that might be relevant:
    1. RAM that had weird issues until I cleaned the contacts with a soft pencil eraser. The contacts looked perfectly clean to start with. You did swap the ram, but some electrical contact cleaner in the slot couldn't hurt.
    2. Weird RAM issues resolved by BIOS update.
    3. Weird POST issues with non-relevant error lights (RAM) caused by a particular GPU with a particular monitor. A different GPU or a different monitor resolved the issue completely. In retrospect, I believe that issue would have been resolved by a firmware update to the graphics card (saw a similar issue later with a GPU that a GPU firmware update fixed).

I have had the same issue when i built my pc, turns out one of the ram sticks corsair sent was broken, and it would light up and spin up, no picture, once i took out the broken ram it worked, crazy that many things can cause the same issue. I still find it fun to go through the process and check everything, despite expensive components being on the line. Great video, glad i could learn something!

I would think the person who got their PC back in working order would be happy regardless of upgrades. It's great that you look at these for free and sort out the issues. As you say just diagnosing a PC costs money. So don't think anybody should be complaining that you didn't give the upgraded stuff, especially if it's not needed. It's a win win all round, person gets their PC back working, you get the content for your channel and we learn something!!. All good dude!!

this video, or the entire fix of flop series for that matter, literally helped me fix my pc on my own
it stopped working after i cleaned it, turns out i had damaged a DIMM slot. i sent my old one back to the manafacturer (gigabyte), and they sent back a brand new one. after that my pc started working again
thank you so much for making videos like this

I had the same issues as well, DRAM no post! My issue was the standoffs not being on correctly and the board hitting the case, it was my first PC that I built. I also had an issue recently where I got scared and my new PC had the same issue, I just had to push in my GPU a bit to fix it. Just thought I'd share, thanks for the video. ❤️

Very interesting indeed. One suggestion; whenever dealing with multiple power on/power off cycles during troubleshooting, I'd disconnect whatever drive has the o/s on it----repeated cycles can corrupt it

The MoBo Memory Circuitry has severed continuity that closes after warmed.... it won't cold start but later will warm start.... we could test for that by trying to start it from cold with a hair blow dryer pre-heating.

At one point Greg said he had no words. I would have -- none of them G-rated. My 5900X drove me nuts for about nine months with POST issues that turned out to be a RAM QVL thing. Memory training was somehow rendering my video blank. RAM wasn't on the QVL list, getting some that was solved the problem.

I was just about to say you 3 possibilities:
1- His processor pins appeared to have some sort of white stuff on the base of some pins. Maybe silicon, thermal paste, something like that.
2- Had several issues with memory ram problems and bunch of times was Zinabre(from portuguese). You know, that green oxidation that occurs on cooper and metals alike. Computers that experience use on high humidity locations are prone to that. Usually can't be noticed by eyes, but it's there. Clean the socket with a tooth brush and 90%+ alcohol and you're good. I like to use a pencil eraser for the memory pins. These white ones used on school.
3- Bios update. Not that it needs it for a upgrade, but there's a chance of bios corruption of some sort of gremlins going on that will make the computer work like that. Seen it happen on that power outage situation where the lights doesn't cut out immediately, and a low voltage situation will allow the machine to work for a few more seconds corrupting itself.
One of these tree will work. Good Luck.
