If you'd have told me in high school that I'd be meeting random people in a Target parking lot and fixing their systems for free - all for the goal of making educational content on RUclips - I'd have laughed and bet everything against it. Your viewership is the backbone of Fix or Flop. Thanks so much for your continued support.
Greg, you might just be the best Tech RUclipsr. Not only do you take care of your fans, but you also keep things clear, concise, and informative. You're really my favorite tech RUclipsr. Keep up the great work my man! (ALSO CONGRATS ON YOUR ANNEVERSARY!)
Love watching this series
Love all your videos, keep up the good work it's deeply appreciated!
Update that RUclips banner on the shelf
I'm glad it worked out this way. I'm currently working on my cable management and waiting for a fan hub before I tackle connecting everything and if my system doesn't post I'll know what to look for thanks to this series. I also noticed a bent capacitor (one of the plastic ones at the lower left hand corner. My board is almost like the one in this video) that I bent back in place but it was after I finally got my mobo seated and screwed in. I was told that shouldn't matter in the end unless it came loose in which case I'd either have to RMA (have a month to do so) or solder. Fingers crossed I have no issues come Monday or Tuesday.
Greg, you know we builders will never confess to damaging a CPU socket (pins), it's like the ultimate failure in any build! LOL
I carefully take out the stupid plastic socket protector before installing the CPU. I always feel like its going to fall into the socket and catch on a pin.
Go Blazers!
No not putting the IO shield on is the ultimate fail 😂
LGA 1700 motherboards aren't cheap. It's like crumpling a couple of hundred dollars into a ball, pouring gasoline on it then flicking lit matches at it.
On my very first build the video I was following for a step by step (I won't call them out) did not mention they were using an intel CPU. I had a Ryzen one. When my cover didn't automatically lift off the board when I lifted the retention clip, I went to go lift it manually. Ryzen does not have a CPU socket cover I found out. Luckily I was one of the few that Newegg allowed a return on without much issue.
Man, this would frustrate me so much. PC builders, i tip my hat to you all.
it still does even if you build PCs 😭
@@bonksti It still does even when you're the one fixing PC's too...but it's also part of the challenge when someone brings you an issue!
@@wboyd33 true tho! i find happiness in that frustration still :D
@@bonksti Same here! I just hate making the phone call to the customer telling them I need to replace the mobo, if I couldn't fix the pins.
The biggest frustration is windows 10/11 troubleshooting, it relies on the start menu, if you can't access the start menu, then you're fucked
Man respect to you who fixed those motherboard pins. The patience and carefulness it takes to do that is amazing!
I agree. I don't think I could handle a problem that takes that much precision. It's literally surgery only on a computer and as I'd imagine (but would neverr want to experience) something like shaky hands could ruin it.
With how much I've heard of bent LGA pins meaning death, I'm extremely impressed you managed to fix them with a needle. Nice grit, Greg.
I can tell you that they can. I was trying to fix a dozen of bent pins on the LGA1150. Three of them was bent so much, that they fall off while I was trying to unbend them. I think someone dropped a CPU onto them (and that's not the worst part) and then tried to fix it with his nails (that damaged it more). Now the only solution is to change the whole socket. But without proper tools it's impossible. And the board, while it's very nice (a SaberTooth z87) isn't worth the investment.
Honestly my favorite PC youtuber. No BS, drama, over the top thumbnails or scripts. Just to the point and technical without making people feel stupid because of how you explain things in a way we can all understand. Keep doing what you’re doing. You have a very loyal following
Honestly this fix or flop series is the best by far. You really need more subs than you already do. Keep up the great work
Glad you enjoy it!
For sure. Every one else is doing filler content with setup reviews/roasts. This is actual useful content.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX totally agree! Lot of tech reviewers reviewing the same stuff over and over - Greg works hard to provide tech content we can all use!
@@GregSalazar dude i think the viewer just needed a new cooler coz the prev one had pump failure and he got what he wanted for free. no one is dumb enough to put a stock cooler from 3 gen prior on an i7 12700k.
Haha that reaction of pure joy when it finally posted, that made me smile just seeing you jump 😄😂 Good work Greg, that’s actually crazy you can bend the pins back and it still works!
Also love Greg's reaction when it finally posted.😅
I have the same problem from my friend's PC. No POST due bent pins. Unbend those pins then the PC boots, man, the joy is immeasurable...
You straight up saved this guy!
Well done Greg.
Need to give yourself some massive props.
Bending pins back is no easy feat.
@14:54 that look of sheer joy in that moment, I know that feeling all too well and it' feels just as good seeing someone else experience it too, good work my man!
I absolutely love this series! I recently discovered your channel and can't stop watching! Thank you for bringing such fun and fresh content!
Thanks so much for watching! It's what allows me to continue doing what I'm doing :-)
Every episode I listen very intently for the amount of inflection on *BROKEN*...gaming PC. This was a good one. Loud, but not too loud; excited, but not overly; oomph, but not too oomphy. Great episode. Fantastic *BROKEN*.
This series has been invaluable to me both in learning an order in which to troubleshoot and also in remembering NEVER to assume based on the symptoms. As such, I have managed to fix a major issue with one of my PCs and tidy up some niggling issues in the other one, all for only the cost of parts on one and a bit of my time. No outlay to repair stores.
Thank you so much for this, especially for not editing out when you come to the wrong conclusion. I find seeing mistakes is as important as seeing solutions.
Keep up the outstanding work!
This format is really awesome, you win with getting your views, the viewer gets his pc fixed or cleaned and the viewer’s also get the knowledge of repair this is dope man keep up the good work!
I can't believe that processor was still functioning after being booted multiple times with that cluster of bent pins. Amazing work, straightening them all like that!
That's some quality motherboard repair there! So cool that it finally posted!
I build pcs for family and friends, recently i built one with son for him. Cpu pins was something i went over in detail and how to hold and treat both cpu and pins. It was a great bonding expirience as he built about 80% of it and the look on his face with that initial post was worth it. Another great episode.
Love this series - I've recently discovered your channel while waiting for my new build to be completed - Binged the whole of series 1 in just over a day a couple of weeks ago! Thanks for the content man!
I really enjoy your content and one detail that really keeps me coming back as a loyal viewer is how incredibly transparent you are when it comes to why the potential fix is free! Great work!
I discovered your channel about one month ago. All your content is really interesting and informative. I'm looking forward to more computer builds and deep cleanings! Thank you for delivering great content!
I absolutely hands down loved this episode of Fix or Flop! Glad it wasn't the GPU! It also goes to show you no matter your tech experience in trying to make the process quicker, even the logical path you choose doesn't always save you the time your think it will! This is because PCs are complex and so is the problems they experience. Well done Greg!
Great job! I'm loving the series and your services, pretty handy as borrowed experience to debug a computer
14:55 pure gold 😂 people won't understand this sense of achievement and satisfaction
loved it
great video yet again Greg!
I've fixed in past few bent LGA pins and TBH it is risky and not easy job, you got to have a precise control of your hand to do this safely.
I'm glad you were able to resolve this issue, and props for giving him this cooler definitely huge upgrade from the incompatible prior generation cooler.
about no signal symptom without Q-Code display I would have check the error LEDs (if the board has them), and I would have tried using on board graphics checking ram and so until focusing on the CPU. but I think that if I've asked the right question I might got a hint about the issues with the socket.
any way good job!
I really enjoy this series. Keep up the great work.
I surely enjoy these troubleshooting videos. I enjoy watching you go through the steps, and explain your logic. It is really interesting!
these series really help, its learning from real scenario and possibilities of problems and how to come about it
For future reference, a little heat in those pins and you'll reduce the risk of snapping them off. Good work!! 👍
heatgun be fine?
@@Lionheart1188 you then risk de soldering the pins. a hair dryer is best.
Excellent series as always ... enjoy your real world repairs. They are both enlightening and informative. They address real life PC issues and how to find the answer to the problems. Well done please keep them coming 👍
I live for this series. Can't wait for the next one!
Greg I almost yelled when it powered on! :) I've been watching all this playlist! please keep this kind of videos coming!
Only seen 1 person fix the pins on a motherboard and that’s my father with 30 years of computer experience. You sir are now the second person i’ve seen do it. Holy cow, thought this was a dead board.
Absolutely love this series the suspense is awesome.
great video Greg. And awesome job at straightening those pins in the CPU socket. As always great content!
frickin love it! im so excited every time i see a new upload of fix or flop! good fix, good thing u also inspected the socket! i would've went for the cmos and ram first, then gpu and then cpu..
You are bold havea lot of expertise to be able to diagnose and repair sockets like this. I've fixed an odd bent socket pin or two here and there, but I didn't think this one was salvageable before you fixed it. Bravo. Thanks for creating and hosting this great show.
Always love those FOF videos with giving me new ideas of how to approach errors that eventually might appear on systems. Thanks for keeping the series up, you do some great work with them.
I had a weird issue myself this morning when trying to turn on my pc that's been rock solid for the last 3-4 months since my last install of a new AIO. It wouldn't post, it would only show a cursor on one of my 2 monitors and refuse to move any further from that. I tried to restart a few times, same issue, power cycled the PSU, same issue.
After some headscratching I disconnected one of my external HDD's by unplugging the power to it and boom system up running again. I still have no idea why that would stop my system from posting, but glad I could figure it out that quickly anyway.
Just found your channel thanks to a friend. Wow, great quality! Keep up the good work! I look forward to perusing your back catalog. :)
I enjoy your content but this is my favorite series. Keep up the good work Greg!
only built 2 rigs myself but ive come to love youre content and it has given me a way easier look on building and troubleshooting problems with mine and my friends rigs, keep up the great content, youve help so many of us and im sure i speak for most if not all ur viewers when i say thank you & youre a beast :)
I LOVE FIX or FLOP!! so fun watching u troubleshoot and fix pc’s
These are so helpful - if I ever needed my custom PC repaired I would first dig through every video in this series
Love the series, it's very useful to learn and see problems that don't happen everyday. Even if you fix computers all day long there are things that happen so scarcely you honestly start forgetting and need to refresh from time to time. Definitely the best playlist on the channel.
TY for fixing the motherboard stand-offs, they were giving me a bit of anxiety for most of the video :), brought back bad memories of a boss I had that would attach any motherboard with just 2 screws to "save time" *shivers*.
Also, if there was enough cable to do so, I would have taped the SSD to the back of the motherboard tray instead of the PSU, no big deal I just try to avoid anything near the PSU as much as possible.
Wow, what a fix! Great video Greg, thanks for sharing. Way to go on that. I can't imagine trying to correct the pins heh.
Honestly one of my favorite channels so far
what a great fix!
i like how you don't spoil what's wrong anywhere in the video
This has to be one of the best series on YT rn. Much love Greg.
I got so hyped up when you got it to post, I went through the same thing twice with LGA 1150, luckily able to repair both times. Great video!
Another mystery solved! Great one man. Something definitely must have fell causing it to become unseated/bent.
Duuuuude, I was so happy to see the post image. That was a tough one, great job!!!
This was a good episode. Props to you for being able to fix bent pins! That's some skill right there.
Good job Greg, That was next level repair work. 👍
I have used tips and tricks from Greg and others to fix bent socket pins on a z370 mobo. Thanks for the great videos!
i really appreciate these kind of troubleshooting videos
that was pretty awesome
thank you for the video
The fact you did that WITHOUT a magnifying glass is pretty rad. Surgeons hands. Nice work.
That was some truly pro-level pin fixing, what fantastic work!
Good stuff, I love learning trouble shooting steps. 😁👍👍
DUDE you are the best! I saw that excited face when it finally POSTED!!
Always interesting ! Keep going Greg, you're awesome!
Glad that everything turns out well. Kudos to you Greg!
This series is seriously phenomenal. Thank you.
The excitement at the end felt so genuine. God damn. Good job Greg!
Liked your hype once it booted!!! Amazing job and great knowledge your giving us much appreciated!!!
Your reaction is just as mine when I hand repair those cpu socket pins and all works well. I got an N7 mb in bad shape that I resurrected. Very rewarding to save them.
Love the fix or flop. Its what got me into watching/finding your channel. I've been in IT for almost 20 years and I love watching your process, but truly enjoy how you provide detail to keep it interesting and informative at the same time. In regards to process I would have started like you with the reseating ram and clearing bios, but I would have gone into unseating the PSU CPU connector and putting it onto a tester to ensure PSU was providing power to socket. I also would have been having a heart attack seeing that cooler on the CPU.
Amazing Greg, my hat goes off to you buddy. I would have definitely messed that up. Hands of a surgeon!
Well done after so much efforts from you Mr Greg Salazar salutations from Morocco
Love this series! Huge fan from the UK here!
Gotta love those messages: "no keyboard detected, press f1 to run setup". It never gets old. :D
This series is awesome!
For the better part of my life, I've always neglected my pcs and instead I would either pay someone to have a friend build them for me. After watching your channel for over 6 months now. I've finally built up my confidence and motivation!
I managed to finally build my very own first pc 4 months ago which worked perfectly first try and I've made a habit of cleaning it at least once a month. Of course your videos are what keeps the inspiration rolling in!
Thank you for your hard work.
I love this series and this one may be the best one yet! Excellent video Greg! I would've loved to see CPU temps with that old stock cooler. You know for science.. 😂
Props for being able to fix the pins on that socket. Excellent series.
That POST after pin manipulation #2...Greg that had to feel so good! Great job once again sir.
These are awesome always getting to see something I’ve ever seen
another Great Video! this my fav series on youtube!
OMG CPU pins bender guru! Really amazed you got it to work. Great work you're doing, I've learned alot from watching your videos. Keep up the good work Greg.
i love the series thank u greg!
I hope I never have to deal with bent pins, looks like a tedious task and one I'm not so sure I could've pulled off. Awesome job Greg. I always feel so good for the folks when they get their PC's back in working order. Love the series.
Clicked in an instant. I absolutely love this series. Love from Australia!
Much appreciated! :-D
Same here!
Thankfully you were able to fix those bent pins! Great video Greg
Outstanding fix on this one!! I have only a single time fixed a bent pin (and only a single pin) and had it work. Hats off for your effort... Had I saw that nearly a dozen pins were damaged, I would have simply hit the Amazon or Newegg site and got a new motherboard full stop. When you said it was a cooler off of a lower generation cpu, I wondered how that was even possible, with the different size cpu chip and all... So.... you showed me. It will physically bolt on, but covers only about 75% of the chip. Good call with changing that out.
This was definitely one of the more satisfying ones I’ve seen. Good catch.
I just subscribed a week ago and I’ve already watched all your fix or flop videos and pcdc videos and Been waiting for more keep up the awesome videos I just got my first ever pc a month ago and have learned a lot from just watching your videos
Congrats the excitement on your face when it posted was great!
Greg I had that same case but the ryzen FX series and it lasted for a little bit now I completely built my new set up watching your videos thank yku
14:53 that joy is priceless
Well done Greg... great effort on your side.
I'm pretty sure these are the only tech videos i genuinely enjoy.
Its a great day that another pc is fixed! Thanks for inspiring us Greg, im hoping that someday i can have my own pc to build and fix. Your truely fan here at Philippines - David
*Love this series!*
loving the content Greg
Great Work Greg. Amazing Job.
I just fixed a LGA-1200 socket with bent pins this weekend, same symptoms as this machine. Those pins are NOT fun to fix. Much respect to you for fixing your viewers mistake and providing your knowledge to your viewers for free. Keep up the great content!
Really Enjoy the Fix or Flop Series.
The fact you went back and retry to refix the bent pins speaks volumes because I would've just called it a day after the first attempt. Greatness as always Greg.
You have great patience and dexterity for fixing those bent pins. Never had to do it myself, but I'd rather fix PGA over LGA.
Fix or Flop is your best series, by far!
That is SO SWEET that you were able to straighten those pins well enough to make it work. Every one that I have tried to fix has just been too far gone...
This is bomb and amazing troubleshooting knowledge !
luv this series. thx
That was impressive. Best one yet nice job!
