I love how Jay refers his daughters age while he's talking about the product's release date!
Lol right.... I mean I will say that as a father the birth of a child is such a huge milestone, quite possibly the reason for one's own existence--- so yes it's easy to use this as a quick reference to somethings age
Watching these videos where you take a system like this and upgrade it makes this old man smile. While having the newest and greatest of something is nice, it just goes to show that older hardware can still be useful to someone! Keep these kinds of videos coming when you can Jay, it's good stuffs.
i love that you dont just keep all your parts just to say you have them but you either give them away or you help people close to you get a nice little upgrade. your the sort of person that i look upto in the pc world haven't missed a single video of yours yet. :)
agreed... hope to win but even if I don't I know the parts are going to people who need them
I've given away a couple graphic cards and ram sticks to my brother in law and friends . They needed an upgrade and I had extra sitting in their boxes .. treat others as you'd want to be treated, even if they never do .. don't rely on karma . Be your own karma. @@aboortedlastname9279 I'd even be happy with the 1080 8GB he's taking out of the system in this video... :( my 770 is not cutting the mustard..
@@aboortedlastname9279 I would happily do the same if I was able to. I know when I moved from my i5 9600k to my 3600xt I gave away my old motherboard and processor it feels good as it went to a 10 year old who wanted his first build.
Right now I'm sitting without a GPU because I sold mines to help pay towards my mother's funeral that was last week as my dad couldn't afford to do it by himself.
We all make sacrifices from time to time I know it will take me the best part of a year to afford another GPU as I don't earn alot of money with being a stay at home carer and dad (UK benefit system only £250 per month) but for the reason I have to wait I'm glad I helped my dad. That's why I love watching jay do things like this it shows kindness not greed.
Ive gifted so many PCs. I dont see the point in holding on to old parts. Why not just give your friends stuff so they can play with you forever?
I love the "upgrade a friend's PC" Series. I like to see the performance bump.

There's desperate people out there paying big bucks for the 1070
Jay: I don't give a **** about ray-tracing
Nvidia: that's -10000 social credit points...
@SteelRodent as a 3d artist i can tell you rtx is really important in a shit ton of scenarios. But games tend to underutilise it A LOT. You would be surprised how massive of a difference it can make if utilised properly.
@@incediumignis I've no doubt it will be great once it gets going and games use it properly. We're not quite there yet though, are we. Sadly
@SteelRodent I replaced my 1080 with a 3080 Ti a few weeks ago and was really interested to finally try it... I literally could not tell the difference. To the point of going back and forth like five times with A/B testing and then checking the framerate drops to tell if it was even turning on.
@@benheely705 only way I could notice it is the glass in Cyberpunk reflected back, and my FPS tanked by 30. Wasn't worth the trade off IMO
@@incediumignis There's a reason why games underutilize it. True ray tracing is incredibly processor intensive and can take hours per frame with multi gpu setups ( for hollywood quality ray casting/tracing). Real time ray tracing will be a gimmick for the foreseeable future until we see many generational leaps in hardware capabilities.
You should upgrade your friends frequently. Never let them become obsolete.

I paid about what I had into a mid tier rig in 2016 for a 3080 this year(little bit shy of 1k usd) and it hurt my soul.
$500.. that made me remember my stupid choice back around 2017 when I got a i3 4170, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd pc for about $500 even though a similar pc with a better processor an i5 (6400 or 7400 can't remember which) was about $50~70 more and would have given me better performance. I still feel that regret until now. And though I still have it the motherboard crapped out once and had to be replaced and hard drive failed about a year ago. I wish I knew more about pcs back then and looked at benchmarks instead of cheaping out and thinking that i3 would be FINE.
@RogerWilco99 your friend is somewhat of a moron. The 970 just is not worth that much even with scalper prices.
GPU prices are indeed crazy, the only financially feasible options are to get the lowest end card in the 20 or 30 series or to buy a laptop as they seem to have been spared from the hardware rush, it's what I did.
When the big high end cards were at 700 or below.
Would be great to see a comparison of benchmarks from fresh windows install vs current install. Always seems to make a big difference but have never seen benchmarks to show if it really does.

He’s testing it. He did an unboxing…makes sense to do different videos using it since the Corsair is a downgrade from his daily driver….after so many videos, we’ll eventually see him post a full review for it. I’m actually interested in what he experiences with it and it’s compatibility with iQue…personally I am NOT a fan of the latest versions…I personally created an all Corsair build specifically to cut down on software controls for lighting and fans and whatnot….and iQue is a mess now, I hate it, and will be producing an updated indepth build guide using all Asus hardware and peripherals because it’s so much more end user friendly than what has happened with the iQue software…

It is only in comparison that they are not the best. Compared to Intel's offerings at the time they were released, they were campfires masquerading as CPUs. I had one and was happy with it, but it was a great space heater or central A/C test fixture.

I have one also, but Jay strictly talking about uncapped gaming performance.
"The Evolution of CPU Gaming Performance, AMD vs. Intel" by HUB, I thought, showed how well the architectures scaled and AMDs price cuts at the time reflected their performance.

The 220T is indeed quite small for a mid tower, I have one myself and struggle to manage all of my cables. It's extremely limiting to what you can do, especially since most GPUs are near 300mm long now, which leaves little room between the GPU and case fans.

Using hardware monitor when gaming, if my cpu usage “max” column hits 100% is that the same as what you’re saying around the 16:50 mark? Not sure what my “current” column might read at the point in time but I don’t think my cpu is maxed out all of the time. Only some threads and only some times. Ryzen 5600x for reference.
That depends on if you're GPU is at like 50%/60% like jay says, although I doubt this is happening with a 5600x which is a very solid CPU
Max should be the highest point that that part of the component has hit since opening hwmonitor. Like, with my gpu temp if I'm gaming in 4k my temp will get up to like 77c. So when I look at the max after closing the game the max will show the hottest point the gpu hit during stress. It doesnt stay there though
Your fine tho
you could run the game in windowed or have more than one monitor plugged in to keep an eye on it while playing or whatever.
if you make it windowed and share the screen, it is a little easier on the gpu. usually.
you could experience some sort of stutter when it reaches 100%, or also 100% on an individual core

Nice. I always tell my friends that it's not about having the current gen flagship, but more so how much of an improvement the upgrade is. For example, last year I went from a gaming laptop with a i7 6700HQ 960M 8gb of ram to a desktop with a R7 3700X/5700XT and 32gb of ram. Towards the end of the video it seems that he was talking about the Halo Infinite beta, which on the other hand is actually pretty intense on a system. Jay please stop ignoring the Nvidia driver overhead. The CPU definitely needed upgraded either way but saying it is mainly due to new games using more cores is just a lie. Halo barely even hits my 5600x while using my Vega 64.
