I went through a phase in high school of doing my hair the way you did without the intense teasing and my grandmother ended up gifting me framed photos of of her husband's mother with the same hairstyle and some of her jewelry. No point to my comment besides nostalgia.
The “before” version of you reminds me SO much of if Harry Potter was instead born as HARRIET Potter and had Lily’s hair and James’ glasses (btw I LOVE this video so so much)
I think they would have named her after a flower. I live for Lily's family naming the girls after flowers. Maybe Violet, Rose, Heather, Primrose, Daisy, Iris, Jasmine... Idek. Heather Jamia Potter..
That mug and the fact that you have that pin on your shirt as a Gibson girl and the bloopers!!! I swear there is NO ONE on this platform that I love watching and that I relate to more!! Please never stop being you!! And thank you for the laughs ❤️❤️
L.M. Montgomery actually based Anne's appearance on one of the most famous Gibson girls, Evelyn Nesbit. That poor girl's life was tragic, but really interesting.
And foreigners too :). Some people just don't have as much practice with listening, or just aren't familiar with a speaker's speech pattern, or stumble upon words they don't know and/or understand and trying to guess the correct spelling based on the pronunciation (which, again, could potentially feature speech patterns that the listener does not know) is sometimes impossible, wow thank you very much, English spelling. So yes, from my personal experience, especially of my younger self, I strongly agree. I probably would never be able to understand spoken English if I hadn't taken the "English subtitles" step, between using subtitles in my mother tongue and usually not needing any subtitles at all.
Love it ! In regards to the rouging becoming addicting... The fad in Korea lately has been lots of blush and shimmer eyeshadow on top and bottom lids. I saw a girl on the bus who basically replaced bronzer, highlighter, etc with blush. It's even more shocking because a lot of the women use a lightening foundation. To be fair I do live near a university. Anyway, Love seeing you try new looks, inspires me to do something different than a pony tail haha.
One of my most favorite era’s!! Edwardian fashion and the Gibson girl makes my heart happy. I think you definitely pulled it off. Loved this video... keep up the great work.
I wake up every morning looking like a Gibson girl coming home from a thoroughly debauche...d... night out, when the nighttime hair bun loosens and gets nice and poofy at the root 😂
I have the same problem. Sometimes I will be walking along and all of a sudden a voice comes from my purse urging me to create my death plan and letting me know that a sealing casket is pretty much a sham.
I was literally laughing out loud at both you and Frodo. If you made three hour long videos I would watch until I needed to recharge my iPad and then watch some more. Imagine the editing!!! Thank your for the GG education and you looked mahvelous!
I love your channel, but the fact your corset was slightly off centred bothered me way more then it should have. The next corset I am making is an Edwardian S Bend corset... it's going to be fun!
oooh, a fellow corset maker! hello there :) I stayed with the straight seam victorian corset until now. I fear a bit for my back with the S-Bend. But making corsets is so fun!
Yes! I really enjoy the Gibson Girl hair aesthetic. There was an updo in the '40s that was similar (not as volumous), so I actually find it convenient for a summer 'do when I want to be cool, but also keep a vintage-y look. The blouse is perfect, too!
I agree with the Hocus Pocus cosplay. But it would be cool if you did a Winifred Sanderson in a different era. Winnie was suppose to be from 1693... 1940’s Winnie might be cool 😍
i was watching this with my 11 years old daughter, and after that I was asking "so how dos she going on with hairstyle?" "Ow now she is looking like a real grandmother" :D this is how kids see:))) it was so funny:)
whaaaaaat??? i've been writing my final paper for local history lately and rewatching all your videos and as a result had a dream that you were a gibson girl solving a murder mystery at the luxury hotel im covering so this is Basically like you stepped right out of my dream and i couldn't be more pleasantly surprised!
I lost mine a long time ago - it is freeing to say the least. I just discovered your videos and I love the fact that you don't, as a woman of the past would say, "put on airs." Stay the way you are, you are funny and honest in your mistakes and that makes your videos memorable.
Rachel, could you do a 70’s makeup/clothing tutorial? I know a lot of your style is older than that but I think it would be really fun to see! Love from New Jersey ❤️
I. Just. Love. You. Please continue with this series! Also the idea that just a piece of clothing or a certain hairstyle is linking our brains to the particulare time period in our history is incredible. Humans are indeed weird ♡♡♡
I’m a new follower and I love your videos. You are such an inspiration. I love vintage and it so awesome to see others who love it too. I also love your cosplay costumes. Your so very talented, thank you for sharing it with us.
So, I know you said the corset was a cheapo from amazon, but that is kind of what I am looking for. Do you know the brand? I want to try an inexpensive one to see how much I would wear it before committing to something more expensive. Thank you. And thanks for this video. The Gibson girl look is one I want to try out too.😊
And one with extra hip space, off the rack are made for a skeletal hourglass, which most women are definitely not. And if you have a larger breast something that accommodates that too. If you don't feel the breast is big enough a simple long bib with ruffles for volume is the way to go or an "bustle like" undershirt.
Yes it really is fascinating that a different hairstyle can take you back in time, kind of. I wore a 70's dress the other day, but styled my hair 40's style and my dress didn't look 70s anymore.
My grandma's aunt was a Gibson Girl! He used her as a model for some of his drawings and she had an original Gibson he gave her! :D Always thought it was so cool as a kid!
So. Much. Fun. Absolutely delightful. I honestly can't help but smile and chuckle when I watch your videos. Anchorman is much quoted in my house as well. hahaha "What are words?" is me most days. Artfully and sneakily hiding the squeaky toy for a bit of silence is a familiar sight too. ♥
Awww, my grandmother was a Gibson girl. She would ride her bike around town in Oshkosh, WI. Btw, she did support the Suffrage Movement. Modern woman!!! You look great!
I had a bad day, but I was smiling throughout this entire video without me noticing. It's like having a best friend trying her best to cheer me up. Thanks rach! You made my day better
Feeling the dog disruptions. My dog literally never wants anything loud until I'm watching a movie or filming. I think you're hair looks pretty good! I think Gibson girls were also big into hairpieces also.
so happy you decided to become a full time youtuber, Rachel! I loooove your channel and your personality! You've inspired me to wear more vintage, to create vintage decor and paint vintage stuff :D love ya!
Loved this! Anne has always been my Hero. Evelyn Nesbit, the Girl in the Red Velvet Swing, was the ultimate Gibson Girl. She is considered the first super model of the modern era. I love Ask a Mortician, too.
My word those bloopers! I'm laughing alone aloud in my kitchen! I totally recognize this era, I didn't know they were called Gibson Girls. Love this video, really looking forward to you playing with more eras. I'm just fell down an 1800s, rabbit hole. Stays, petticoats and aprons hehehe!
Love the look. Thank u for including the link to the clothes and sharing the quick way to accomplish the beautiful up do. Loved the glasses. Wish you would end with a walk outside in the beautiful costume.
Dead on as always! Reminded a little of the Harvey girls too that worked in the chain restaurants around that time. Plus, I love the Judy Garland movie about them too. Work from home uniforms are awesome, but I've got stuck in a rut with mine. Any day I put on makeup I feel fancy-fied now lol ❤❤🤗🤗
Oh my goodness! You look just like Anne of Green Gables with your hair styled like that. Absolutely stunning! I learned from you today. I did not know about Gibson girls. What a fun video! I believe I need to watch Anne of Green Gables this weekend. Hehe! 😄❤️
I started dressing vintage 10 years ago, but had to stop when I got pregnant with my first. Missed it so much! Restarted after my second was 6 yrs old. Watching you inspired me to style my hair in a vintage way, too. Unfortunately, it's just not worth it when they keep driving matchbox cars through it all the time. Someday.
Lots of bloopers for this one hahaha. Apparently working from home means I'm slowly losing my mind 😂, so LOOK FORWARD TUH THAT.
Yay!!
😂🤣Yes girl! Same! 😂🤣
Treat thy selfsounds like a shirt lol
LOL, you acting weird and crazy is literally one of the best parts of your videos.
You look like Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables!!! 😄
I went through a phase in high school of doing my hair the way you did without the intense teasing and my grandmother ended up gifting me framed photos of of her husband's mother with the same hairstyle and some of her jewelry. No point to my comment besides nostalgia.
That's so nice
It might be a comment that has no point, but it's always very pleasant to hear about sweet little snippets of other people 🥰
Cheers to supportive grandparents ❤️
Omg please a hocus pocus cosplay next year
Yaaasssss
Or right now. You don't have to wait.
my mom loves that moive
Please, please, please!! One video per Sanderson sister, and then you can photo shop yourself next to each
other!
And now for the next episode if for make it vintage: winifred sanders(?)
I love that you also watch Ask a Mortcian and now I want you guys to do a collab about vintage funeral dress through the ages!
Athena McCammond omg yessssss
Yes please!
yyyyeeeeeeessssssss!!!!!!
Yeeeeeeeeeees
YES!
Adult Anne of green gables has joined the chat.
She definitely looked like Anne Shirley!
I was thinking the exact same thing. Lol.
Oui🤗
I thought she looked like one of those “progressive” mothers.
Maddy Beer I was almost going to comment about that when I saw your post!
The “before” version of you reminds me SO much of if Harry Potter was instead born as HARRIET Potter and had Lily’s hair and James’ glasses (btw I LOVE this video so so much)
I just gasped at how perfect that AU is
I think they would have named her after a flower. I live for Lily's family naming the girls after flowers. Maybe Violet, Rose, Heather, Primrose, Daisy, Iris, Jasmine... Idek. Heather Jamia Potter..
Harry Potters sister
OBSESSED. The Avonlea vibes are strong with this one! 😍
That mug and the fact that you have that pin on your shirt as a Gibson girl and the bloopers!!! I swear there is NO ONE on this platform that I love watching and that I relate to more!! Please never stop being you!! And thank you for the laughs ❤️❤️
Oh my gosh when you have your hair up like that you remind me of Megan fellows and Anne of Green Gables my favorite series
Yes! Anne Shirley /Megan Fellows is my busom friend. ❤️
L.M. Montgomery actually based Anne's appearance on one of the most famous Gibson girls, Evelyn Nesbit. That poor girl's life was tragic, but really interesting.
How surprised would Anne be that people dye their hair red *on purpose* these days (as do I)
Can you turn on the option for your viewers to caption your videos? It would help your deaf/hard of hearing fans a lot!
Yes!

SUPER HERE for the format/subject of this video.
I refuse to guilt you for becoming the pajama monster you’re meant to be. ♥️
Literally the best part of you becoming a full-time RUclipsr is that frodo gets to have his mama all-dayyyyyyy-liooong ❤❤❤❤❤
the style of this era was honestly super pretty :( like the hair, the dress, the makeup. it's all so pretty!!!!
Rachel singing "good enough" within the first minute of doing her makeup is so relatable, it hurts.
I haven't seen 40 seconds, yet I love it, probably cause Gibson Girl is a magic word
You are the cutest human being and seeing your vids pop up always makes my day. ❤️❤️
One of my most favorite era’s!! Edwardian fashion and the Gibson girl makes my heart happy. I think you definitely pulled it off. Loved this video... keep up the great work.
Omg ANNE!! I forgot if you’ve watched the Canadian Anne if green gables but if you haven’t you MUST. You look just like her here
I wake up every morning looking like a Gibson girl coming home from a thoroughly debauche...d... night out, when the nighttime hair bun loosens and gets nice and poofy at the root 😂
oooo the editing is already so much fancier, I'm loving it (you've got this!!!!!)
I have the same problem. Sometimes I will be walking along and all of a sudden a voice comes from my purse urging me to create my death plan and letting me know that a sealing casket is pretty much a sham.
Hahahhahaha Caitlin is IN OUR SUBCONSCIOUS
That one dislike was a gibson girl from that age
Or it's from Winifred
@@evelindelgadillo354 Definitely Winifred.
gotta give the man credit, he knew what he was doing. also, he nailed that lose bun. make that man my stylist
I stopped a movie for this. My favorite era in clothing
I agree. It is cool that simple changes brings you to different eras, or countries even.
Make this a series! Going through the eras of makeup and fashion
Ask a Mortician is the bomb 😂💕 this was great lovely!
I was literally laughing out loud at both you and Frodo. If you made three hour long videos I would watch until I needed to recharge my iPad and then watch some more. Imagine the editing!!! Thank your for the GG education and you looked mahvelous!
Yesssssssss Ask a Mortician
Evelyne Ca I was also going to comment that, but you beat it to me by a year 😃
I'm living for those Anne Shirley vibes!!!
I'm glad you also enjoy Ask a Mortician, love the iconic corpse vids!
I love your channel, but the fact your corset was slightly off centred bothered me way more then it should have. The next corset I am making is an Edwardian S Bend corset... it's going to be fun!
oooh, a fellow corset maker!
hello there :)
I stayed with the straight seam victorian corset until now. I fear a bit for my back with the S-Bend. But making corsets is so fun!
I’ve done Victorian, late Victorian with gores and gussets and closed front 18th century so far!
Yes! I really enjoy the Gibson Girl hair aesthetic. There was an updo in the '40s that was similar (not as volumous), so I actually find it convenient for a summer 'do when I want to be cool, but also keep a vintage-y look. The blouse is perfect, too!
Frodo coming up with the noisiest toy is something my dog does, too, whenever I try to videotape at home!
Aww baby Rachel! So nice to see how far you've come -- from excellent to fan-bloody-tastic 😊
I hope this becomes some sort of a series because I think they're so interesting and I love the looks you create. 😭💓
“That’ll do pig.” 😃 That’s MY most quoted movie. I always say that to my students when they start getting too rowdy.
I don’t know what I love more, the finished look or Frodo trying to eat dat apricot rouge
Padding padding padding! Corsets were sooo padded and helped the illusion of a large bust and hips and a tiny waist. Absolutely wonderful
That demure throat clear after the burp killed me! So excited that you get to be full time now!
So far, Rachel posting more has made my week 110% better.
I agree with the Hocus Pocus cosplay. But it would be cool if you did a Winifred Sanderson in a different era. Winnie was suppose to be from 1693... 1940’s Winnie might be cool 😍
Oh my goodness, this is the best!!!!! I've always been mesmerized by Anne's hair in Anne of Avonlea and always wanted to try it out
i was watching this with my 11 years old daughter, and after that I was asking "so how dos she going on with hairstyle?" "Ow now she is looking like a real grandmother" :D
this is how kids see:))) it was so funny:)
A lot of us girls did the Gibson hairstyle in the 1970's-1980's. I loved it. You did a fab job. Love the blouse💖
whaaaaaat??? i've been writing my final paper for local history lately and rewatching all your videos and as a result had a dream that you were a gibson girl solving a murder mystery at the luxury hotel im covering so this is Basically like you stepped right out of my dream and i couldn't be more pleasantly surprised!

Humans are indeed weird
♡♡♡
this kind of half-"educational", halg styling videos is awesome 🤧 not only you look amazing but i feel like my ignorant ass learned a lot
I used to wear my hair like this in 5th-6th grade all the time. I loved it. This style suits you for sure!
I’m a new follower and I love your videos. You are such an inspiration. I love vintage and it so awesome to see others who love it too. I also love your cosplay costumes. Your so very talented, thank you for sharing it with us.
Outstanding makeover, Rachel! You look absolutely beautiful as a Gibson Girl.
major Anne of Green Gables vibes!!! I love it!
I have been searching for some watch worthy gibson girl tutorials. And now my favorite has presented one!
You have beautiful hair, Rachel, and make a lovely gibson girl.
Edwardian fashion is my favourite historical fashion era! so glad you did this transformation :D
Had a really rough evening, and this video cheered me up so much
Yes! Would love a “Rachel through the Eras” series. You are totally a Gibson Girl - so beautiful.
I love Caitlyn too!! Very informative
A beautiful, curvy, red-headed Gibson Girl? Well done, Ms. Maksy. Well done!
I love this!! Would you consider doing a video on your Anne of green gables look you did? This look gave me such strong Anne of ingleside vibes!!
It’s so nice to know another person is curious how they would have looked during certain eras.
You and I have matching zits on our chins. Twinsies!
Fellow chin-planet member chiming in to say hey🤚
I have one too!
I have one as well :((
I really hope this full time youtuber thing works out because I AM LIVING for all this CONTENT! ❤️❤️❤️
So, I know you said the corset was a cheapo from amazon, but that is kind of what I am looking for. Do you know the brand? I want to try an inexpensive one to see how much I would wear it before committing to something more expensive. Thank you. And thanks for this video. The Gibson girl look is one I want to try out too.😊
roadrunnercrazy I highly recommend Mystic city corsetry. Relatively cost effective.
Please don’t buy crap fashion corsets!!
And one with extra hip space, off the rack are made for a skeletal hourglass, which most women are definitely not. And if you have a larger breast something that accommodates that too. If you don't feel the breast is big enough a simple long bib with ruffles for volume is the way to go or an "bustle like" undershirt.
Really enjoying the historical notes in this one, especially the rouge info! Would love more like this please.
The real challenge: the Captain Janeway bun of unflappable volume
Yes it really is fascinating that a different hairstyle can take you back in time, kind of. I wore a 70's dress the other day, but styled my hair 40's style and my dress didn't look 70s anymore.
Also you sort of resemble Lady Tremaine ( Cinderella's evil stepmother) in this look, the hairstyle and shirt is very Lady Tremaine.
I LOVE GIBSON GIRL HAIR. I also really love the bits of historical information.
You look like Anne when she was in Avonlea!
I'm jealous of your patience with your hair. I give up if it doesn't work first time. This look really does suit you!!
Notification squad 😍
My grandma's aunt was a Gibson Girl! He used her as a model for some of his drawings and she had an original Gibson he gave her! :D Always thought it was so cool as a kid!
Why did Judy Garland just flash into my head!?
Very “Meet Me in St Louis”
Cause she's a red head
So. Much.
Your hard work and creativity in your videos totally shows! If anyone deserves to follow their dream it’s totally you! 👍
Omg! Yes!!! I love this era-my favorite! The look and makeup-I love it, Dah-ling! Love it!
Love Gibson girl illustrations. You nailed it!
Rachel you are KILLING it! I'm so glad that you've gone full-time. 😍😍😍
so happy you decided to become a full time youtuber, Rachel! I loooove your channel and your personality! You've inspired me to wear more vintage, to create vintage decor and paint vintage stuff :D love ya!
Stunning transformation. That was the perfect amount of rouging!
I love that you get to spend more time with Frodo. He’s adorable.
Love the look. Thank u for including the link to the clothes and sharing the quick way to accomplish the beautiful up do. Loved the glasses. Wish you would end with a walk outside in the beautiful costume.
The Jazz Flute scene from Anchorman is my precious!
That looked like fun and you look great fitting yourself into the Gibson Girl Theme!💖💖
Can we just applaud Rachel for all her amazing editing she does!!!!!
I freaking love the little blooper segment at the end of every video, it always makes my day 😂
Frodo is quite honestly one of the cutest puppers ever and I desperately just need more content of him being derpy.
9:23 preach girl! so fun to see how we'd look in different eras.
