30 year Red Wing user. Bought a pair and upper stitching came loose in 4 months. The local store (I didn't know they were franchises) offered me 50% off a new pair. I didn't think that was equitable on a 4 month old boot, but I said not a thing and accepted the deal. New pair had the rubber sole split side to side right on the ball of my foot in 5 months. I had very good reason to believe I'd not be treated equitably, so I emailed Red Wings. Did I mention, I was a 30+ year customer? No answer. No more soup for you, Red Wings.

I just bought two tubes, one tube was extremely hard to push on like insane and it didn’t mix well leaving it bubbled and discoloured. The second tube was amazing came out like butter and mixed well so idk if this is always the case or I got a faulty tube but the second pair of boots looks great

Well for being a Mr Work Dude like yourself you'd think you would know that over time of actually working in the boots the shine of the tough toe fades away. It don't last forever like you said. Mine looked worked in and matte after a few weeks.
I had my Chukkas done at a redwing store. Big regret. I wish I would have added a layer of matching leather to the toe area instead.The tuff toe looks like a Ronold McDonald clown boots now.🤯🤢🤮
If you are in and out of the mud/gravel/and rocks I don't suggest covering down to the sole part as it will peel up after a week and need trimmed with a knife . If you apply this for factory setting workplace I believe that it would hold up great, Otherwise great video .

Oh yeah, a bulky metal toe cap, with an unspecified method of holding it on, sounds really cool. I bet it would never get caught on things, and wouldn't bend, and wouldn't get in the way at all. And I'm sure the attachment method would be very streamline and cohesive to the design. Lol

Your video is the best one I've seen showing how to get a good coat, effectively and quickly. Curlers use tough toe on their drag foot and many of us need to do this.
I don't understand this product. "It protects the leather from being damaged"...yes but the leather has also been completely covered in resin! Besides them being ugly beyond all hell, how can you now oil and treat that section of leather? You can't!
Honestly as a person that works in construction. The main failure I see with all red wing boots in particular is that people wear right through the leather on the toes and expose the steel in a very short period of time, i'm talking 3 months at most. This is a really ugly solution from red wing when they could just use a higher quality leather. I personally stepped up and just bought a pair or Nick's boots and have never looked back.

(There's another option, but I wouldn't want to abuse you of lying.) I have 81 employees and I've never seen anyone wear through the toe, on ANY type of boot, in 3 months. And "wearing THROUGH TO THE STEEL in 3 months AT MOST," implies that it someone's happens faster. I highly doubt it. Nick's boots aren't going to last that much longer, if you're abusing your boots to the point of wearing all the way through the leather to the steel in a couple of months.

You can take care of your boots but they will still get worn, for example, I’m a multi trade tech for my company but our drain tech at my work specializes in re-drains under residential houses, this means he is on his belly in crawl spaces the whole day and the only way for him to move is to use the toes of this boots and his elbows. This is in LA so lots of these homes have crawl spaces that are as small as 12 inches tall. For this reason, he gets free boot certs every 3 months. So some jobs require boots to be abused that is beyond the users control.

The reality is if you have a job where your not on your knees, your probably not gonna need this. I wear the 6" Irish Setter Wingshooters and it works great and really doesn't look bad. Definitely not 350 dollar boots. If your wearing Red Wings just for the look and you don't have a job where your up and down all day this isn't for you.
Dude, I bought the boot in the video, my first pair. Almost broke the bank, anyway, I somehow managed to CONSTANTLY kick things while walking. Weird as sht, going up stairs would kick each stair, stepping on a pallet, I would scrape the underside of the pallet. NEVER ever had that problem before. A week in and the beautiful leather was showing wear and tear one week in from all the kicking. Tuff toe was recommended and problem was solved.
He is using a nice little gun adapter to squeeze out the tuff- toe, in reality you need two hands to squeeze the plungers down. Also, he is correct when he says size 13, and up, you may need more tuff-toe. I had just enough for size 13.
Sorry to jump in on your comments! lol. You can get a matte finish by waiting about 20 minutes and roughing the cap with a paper towel or clean microfiber rag, I do think it looks better and blends in a lot better on used boots.
If you're doing this to your boots, that means you're actually working in them, and you're trying to protect the toe box. If the work you do warrants something like this, that means they won't be glossy for very long.
I'm a petroleum/ethanol hauler and this stuff is completely unaffected by gasoline, diesel and ethanol. I often clean the Tuff Toe covering with a spill towel after cleaning up some spillage. Worth the money, and then some.

Anyone who refuses to resole these Boots because of the tough toe is BSing you. If you're a roofer or a flooring guy this makes that $250 upper last twice as long
Can be resoled, had the same boot in video. You'll just have to put on a new application of the tuff toe. They will take off the tuff toe, resole it and you'll have to buy a new tuff toe and have it put on. I did, my store did the whole thing. It was well worth it.
The hard trades don't have much shell left to resole to after a years work. I get your point though. It is silly that the most expensive pair of shoes I own get replaced every year or two.
I hate the look of the tough toe on my traction lites but it’s a necessity for my work and it really extends the life of the boot by a lot especially if you’re job requires you to be on your knees .. that’s when the toe of the boot starts wearing against the surface your standing on so tough toe is defintely worth it in my opinion but yeah doesn’t look pretty sucks because I love the look of the redwing traction lites without the tough toe

I did this to an older pair of steel toe boots pretty worn with some paint on bed liner. Worked pretty good.

@@norco_288 I have used both, the timberlands were ok, didn't last as long for me. The were damn sure comfortable though.
