Mahindra has truly outdone itself with its new BE (Born Electric) lineup of vehicles. They're setting a new standard in the domestic market. I was at the track yesterday and people who got the chance to test drive it were thoroughly impressed. Everyone was like holy cow! they say it’s absolutely incredible for the price.
The BE 6E boasts a certified range of 682 km (MIDC P1+P2), while the XUV 9E delivers 656 km (MIDC P1+P2) both powered by an advanced 79 kWh LFP battery pack. With a 0-60 miles an hour in 6.7 seconds, a promised 500+ km range in real-world Indian conditions (potentially over 600 km internationally) and a lifetime battery warranty, Mahindra has clearly raised the bar. They’ve also packed these vehicles with a Snapdragon 8295, the same SoC found in a Mercedes E-Class and a 1400W 16-speaker custom Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos. Honestly I’m confident these will sell like hotcakes. Looking forward for more in-depth insights from car reviews.

Those days it was not that popular coz of power issues back in India but Mahindra took the first step back in 2001 when Musk was busy making PayPal 😂. So I would rate Mahindra asna legacy manufacturer. It makes 4*4 vehicles, tractors, trucks, buses, mini vans and even Military vehicles and equipments. Intact Mahindra has one of the biggest IT wings it's called Tech Mahindra. One thing I respect about Mahindra is they try to be self sufficient and invest a lot in R&D. Oh btw did I mention that Mahindra also makes motor bikes, they have collaboration with Czech company called Jawa and now have collaboration with British motorbike BSA. They also owned the Korean car company Sasanyong for some time and now owns Pininfarina. I'm sure these designs are coz of the collaboration with Pininfarina. Some info about Mahindra. They purchased a Korean company Ssangyong and also an Italian design firm Pininfarina. Some inputs for these cars come from Pininfarina. The design head under who's direction these cars were developed is one Mr. Pratap Bose. He was earlier with Tata Motors. The batteries come from China some say BYD and I have heard these are blade batteries. There are probably 2 3 more models coming in the future.

    • @barryobrien1890

Pininfarina has been a financial disaster for Mahendra. Glad to see they have chosen to go with Bose on this one. Indian designers are as good as any out there. They need to be more visionary, as they were in the eV business for a lot longer than Tesla, but failed to capitalize on the global market, instead of trying to sell to in India. The eV market in India is fairly saturated these past few months (at around 6%), as hybrids seem to becoming more popular, maybe due to charging, service or just conservative ideas. Take it to China and Europe like Tesla did.

I would think they are less complex than ICE cars, but the electronic hardware and the software layers required to run them are more complex than those in many ICEs. So, I am guessing that throwing an EV together is possible, but to make a vehicle that you can sell is equally difficult as an ICE.
