As an Indian I have always loved WILLY"S Jeep. We grew watching it our movies and collected toys. Indians don't see Jeep as a Brand; the design and style was and is considered as an Icon. when Mahindra gained the Licence to assemble the Jeep in Indian, and later produced different versions, retaining the same style, so in India the Design stuck in the minds of people, as Class and not a Brand. Only in my teens, I realized that it was Willy’s Jeep that was built by Indian Brand Mahindra during WWII. Indians have never ending love for this design and the old school driving style, and the rugged usability. Many collect Willy’s Jeep just for the love of it. When Jeep stops production in India Mahindra launched their own and newer versions with better comforts, compared to the Old Jeeps, Indian welcomed Mahindra’s New variants, we love Mahindra for keeping this Historic Legend Alive in India at an affordable price. It is wrong to say that it is a fake jeep or knockoff. If it is, then are we going to call all the Jeeps assembled by Mahindra as Fake? I don’t think so! It’s not a Will’s Jeep anymore, It’s Mahindra Thar. Jeep is at higher pricing + Import cost, We Indian are smart spenders and when we have good build and the Iconic design at reasonable cost, I think any smart person would pick the affordable ones. I guess that’s good enough to satisfy our passion and we don’t look to boost our ego by paying higher pricing. Mahindra Thar has evolved in decades and is one among the best in its league. I don’t see much difference between Mahindra Thar and a Jeep Wrangler, except the price tag. 🤩
Don’t get too excited about the price. Just because it’s cheap in India doesn’t mean it’ll be cheap in western countries. Look at Royal Enfield motorcycles, they can be purchased for half the price in India compared to the West
Exactly lot of western people now knows this point they come to india buys car/bike in half of price and explore india for another half of cost 😅 like itchy boots did❤
Its unbelievable how old thars (and Mahindra boleros) are used in some of the hilly areas in india. Stripped to barebones with focus on tyre grips and frame strength and 4x4, absolutely minimum for passenger comfort, but runs for years as it's so repairable with adequately powered and long lasting diesel engines.
Definitely want to see this in Australia. We've been putting off getting a new car and I'm kind of desperate. If they don't release it over here soon I'll have to get something else and I REALLY don't want to. This is exactly what I've been after for YEARS!
The cream interior on an off roader just rubs me off in a bad way ngl. Even if it is being used for day to day things, maintaining that interior would be so much cumbersome.
That's why the 3 door version has a washable interior. That's meant for hardcore off-roading and this is mainly meant for urban SUV users with occasional off-roading. That's why interiors are given a little more premium feel
Yeah me too wish they gave a dual tone interior bit i dont mind i jave already booked one i will change the interior aftermarket Only i get the thar once they say 1.5 years of waiting period 😮💨
Lot many people are saying launch it is Australia, in NZ and even UK! The problem is that with 5000 Roxx every month prod capacity and with over 1.75 lakhs of bookings that Mahindra got in the 1st hour of opening, they are now sitting on an order book of some 3 years worth of production, even if you reduce the booking numbers by 25000! Unless they add new production facilities i dont know how they can export the Roxx, unless of coursethey want to prolong the deliveries for the india orders even beyond the 3 years that is being envisaged. Remember, their 3 door Thar, XUV range and the Scorpio range too have very healthy demands of their own, even if you leave the Boleros out of this equation! 😅
Thar is a emotion in India. This is what the world wanted to make. It took Indian engineers to design one, and it will last longer than 20 years easily. Low maintenance, zero fuzz, Strong, Heavy and Safe. Price is not important here, it's the product and the panels may not be 100% flush and premium but they will outlast even cars way above it's price bracket.
New Thar starting price 27lakh on road price will cost a few lakh more. Longer wheel base more weight to booth with that they better be giving out power close to Jeep Wrangler or it will be a total flop car again in Indian market
I do know people judge and troll mahindra reviewers as paid. Its true as promotion is a business strategy right? I know jeeps are horrible in every sector they need to be at, mahindra is far better and low cost. I'm happy that mahindra is going overseas and offering quality products, i wouldn't compare them with Japanese in reliability but definitely more reliable than American and chinese cars Definitely if the Australian and african market support mahindra they will come up with more varieties and also keeping cost a factor.

Only in my teens, I realized that it was Willy’s Jeep that was built by Indian Brand Mahindra during WWII.
Indians have never ending love for this design and the old school driving style, and the rugged usability. Many collect Willy’s Jeep just for the love of it. When Jeep stops production in India Mahindra launched their own and newer versions with better comforts, compared to the Old Jeeps,
Indian welcomed Mahindra’s New variants, we love Mahindra for keeping this Historic Legend Alive in India at an affordable price.
I am eagerly waiting for the moment ❤
Don’t get too excited about the price. Just because it’s cheap in India doesn’t mean it’ll be cheap in western countries. Look at Royal Enfield motorcycles, they can be purchased for half the price in India compared to the West
Aus and ind have fta. There's pretty good chance taxes on it might reduce but it's upto mahindra whether to launch it in aus.
@@AnjaliApta-qt1iw did u mean economic cooperation and trade agreement?
Exactly lot of western people now knows this point they come to india buys car/bike in half of price and explore india for another half of cost 😅 like itchy boots did❤
@@Keshavmishra79 Free Trade Agreement
The XUV 700 sells for cheaper in Aus than in India though…
i love it , need another jeep along with my wrangler
This is not a jeep, this is a Mahindra Thar
@@SSCCRACKWITHAJ she knows that you don't need to tell it. And it's good...
I love to have this car in australia its my dream to drive my mother land car in Australia
I haven't seen any other competition in India to Mahindra..when it comes to rugged cars.... This is is built in the DNA of Mahindra...
@@satheesht Mahindra got into people heart because of their reliable MHAWK diesel engines
Definitely want to see this in Australia. We've been putting off getting a new car and I'm kind of desperate. If they don't release it over here soon I'll have to get something else and I REALLY don't want to. This is exactly what I've been after for YEARS!
Don't say cheap, say reasonable, Indian company don't loot people.
How is jeep still in business. ?

Still looks too similar to a jeep wrangler. So, pretty sure the only thing jeep would be doing this year would be to block this from being sold in aus
They can't now grill has been changed 😂😂
@@Ms-tk2tn😂
yeah even Mahindra has said that they don't have any plans to launch THAR in foreign markets
Proud to see 🇦🇺 taking interest in an Indian product.
Buying a Thar ROXX and an XUV 700 in November.
Yes bring it, we need more competition in the affordable 4x4 market. Would love to see a Roxx V Tank 300 V Jimny XL off road comparison
Yeah me too wish they gave a dual tone interior bit i dont mind i jave already booked one i will change the interior aftermarket
Only i get the thar once they say 1.5 years of waiting period 😮💨
True, it's just obvious you need brown/black interiors. Wth were they thinking?
@@chi-8289Not justified.
@@Kohlify-18vkyeah😂. No way i am waiting that long
Just because the change in dollar is lower amount doesn’t mean that’s what we will get it for by the time taxes are added .
I like the Suzuki but it's underpowered and expensive for what it is.
The 4x4 roxx variant is double the cost of Jimny XL in India. This video is not providing all the information.
4x4 Roxx will definitely cost 5 to 10 lack INR more onroad than jimny.
New Thar starting price 27lakh on road price will cost a few lakh more.
Longer wheel base more weight to booth with that they better be giving out power close to Jeep Wrangler or it will be a total flop car again in Indian market
True. Overpriced
This video 😂is very well said. No Indian 🇮🇳 will complain.. and in the process lots of subscribers. Kudos 😅
Bro figured the algorithm😂
I do know people judge and troll mahindra reviewers as paid.
Its true as promotion is a business strategy right?
I know jeeps are horrible in every sector they need to be at, mahindra is far better and low cost.
I'm happy that mahindra is going overseas and offering quality products, i wouldn't compare them with Japanese in reliability but definitely more reliable than American and chinese cars
Definitely if the Australian and african market support mahindra they will come up with more varieties and also keeping cost a factor.
Excited about the Thar ROXX from Perth WA!!!
Try TATA products as well
Like TATA Curve, Harrier, Safari, Nexon, Punch,

Warranties and ADRs will make it start at $35k in Australia. Provided it can even pass.
The Jeep and Landrover have proper balljoints, this has just got stub axles like a Hilux. Not much cop offroad.
For people who don't know, these cars were used as police vehicles. They are put through brutal terrains, improper servicing, and are beat and battered. But they still run 25 years on.
Just test drive the Thar, you will be blown away. One of the best suv here in India.
It's very good..... Thanks to velu samy and team..... Forget the rest, wait for Mahindra EVs,.... Get lost tesla......model y. Good job Mahindra BE evs...... Waiting soon.
Yeah but how expensive is the Jimny XL in India, to compare to the Mahindra?
The Thar is about 50% more expensive if you compare the Jimny to the top spec of the Thar. But, if you spec the Thar equally as the Jimny, its about the same.
@@2075anantCan you break that down for me? Because Thar top spec is like ₹20 lakh sth right?
Jimny goes for like ₹18 lakh?
@@JohnHenkamGangte That 20lk price is before on road costs. Depending on the state here in India, you have to pay 2-3 lk more (Taxes, Insurance, Reg. etc). That 18lk price for the jimny is drive away pricing and again, it varies by state. In my state, the top spec Jimny with AT costs 17lk drive away. One advantage the Jimny has that because its is less than 4m in length, has less than (or equal to) a 1.5 litre engine and costs less than 20lk before on road costs, its in a lower tax bracket. If you match the spec of the Jimny (Petrol, AT and similar (or more) features) with the MX3 AT RWD variant of the Thar, they are both exactly the same price drive away. (Where I live at least)
Jimny did not do well in India they priced it higher than Thar in India, Super Flop product now they are giving heavy discounts on jimny the top trim of jimny in india costs around 26,646 AU $
No jimny is priced from 14000USD to 16000USD but thar 3 door is ranged from 12000USD to 19000USD includes RWD and 4x4 but jimny only 4x4 but tha 4x4 starts from 17000USDr@@JohnHenkamGangte
The 12,99,000 starting price is inclusive of GST which is 50% for Thar roxx. So original price of the vehicle is around 8,66,000 which is 15,000 AUD

Thar is having heavy bookings that's why waiting period is also long. Otherwise Mahindra Thar is a king
Mahindra is coming with great products not only in the Indian market but for global markets. Mahindra is creating some ripples in the markets where they are able to present their products.
Three trims for Australia would be great. Base, mid-range, and top-of-the-line (As long they meet our Ancap safety standards).
