The lady just responds, "okay, well I'm going to continue with my hike" and then she continues to walk towards the bear. The family made a stupid decision to continue their walk after receiving a warning that the mountain lion was spotted and they made the decision to walk or hike in an area where mountain lions roam freely and live which caused it to be killed unnecessarily. Our actions and dumb decisions play a role in the outcomes of situations of which we choose to put ourselves in.

If that were the case, then it would make sense to proceed with caution. It wouldn’t make sense for her to turn around and walk in the opposite direction of her car with her toddler deeper in the woods. And let’s not forget, they are Wildcats that are fairly large animals. Not all of them are afraid of humans and noises. Especially if they are accustomed two people and noises from nearby hikers campers etc. etc. these are not domestic cats. They are wild animals. Most are timid and will runoff. Maybe they should just close that areas off to protect both humans and wild life. They can put up fencing around areas that people hike. I’ve been to location that have fencing.
