Hey Joshua, I came into see the review for Easyrig and Dzofilm Lens and just got sucked into watching the entire Ora King Documentary you've made. The documentary is amazing, not only the content and story telling element but the image and colour you produced is just WOW... I am so glad to find you :)
Thanks for sharing Joshua. I have the Vario 5 also. The tip with the frog adapter is pretty cool. I had a frog adapter from my old easyrig, but never used it on the vario 5 because I have the quick release ball adapter....I think I'll try the frog adapter again. Cheers for that
i can see a really great movement and sample clip there, just complimentary each movement to every cut, love ur review and it's so full detailed information there, best for easyrig explaination so far 🔥 I bought the Minimax Stabil Light for my Ursa G2 arrived today, can't wait to play with it !
So interesting, thank you for the video!! Hard to find a (good) in-depth explanation of how to setup and use the easyrig in different situations. Would you be willing to share what small bits and pieces you use accessory-wise to find optimal balance for the camera? :))
It wouldn't been better a long top handle with two ball stud, front and back , instead a weird Easylock + frog and double handle arranged like this? you would have a more hight range. in regards for Mini Max, I have it since one week the new Stabil Light, being ambassador, and is amazing. A step up then the older I owned. The new Rig is very compact and lightweight and I seem it support more weight advised it. I guess that with the tendency to build very small , light and compact cameras, the new Stabil Light will embrace an audience of many supporters. good shooting
Hi Andrea, thanks for taking the time to comment! The double handle works for me because you can slide the eye hooks left and right as well as forward and back on the camera to find the perfect balance depending on how the rig is built out. The camera is never perfectly weighted in the center. I haven’t been able to find a better solution for that, maybe you have one? The ball studs are also great, but I find they effect how smooth the camera can tilt. The camera tilts really smooth with these eye hooks and frog clamp.
thanks for the vid. Im still amazed at so many people complaining about buying an easyrig setup and how it doesnt "stabilize".. I explain like, go hand held on a shot and imagine you have to hold that position for 9 minutes. if your arms and back get tired, thats what its for. period. just a 3rd strong helping hand. of course im only on a 6kpro with a disc cage and Vmount so I can get away with the minimax, but even that helps tremendously. especially when you have that random itch on your nose ha ha. happy shooting, have fun
No sorry. I have tried finding it on Amazon but we can only source it from our supplier in NZ. Not sure where they order it in from? www.tadpole.nz/easyrig-flowcine-cineamadevices-accessories#/frog-tail-frog-clip-attachment/
Another great video Josh! That's a product that I've been putting off buying so many times because of the price. I once bought a cheap knock-off which ended up being a piece of crap and has just recently gone on to the hard rubbish collection pile. Is yours the Easyrig with the 130mm Extension or the standard one? Also, can it be easy packed into a suitcase for travel?
Hey Richard - This is our setup: Easyrig 5 Vario , Cinema Vest , 130mm Ext Arm w/ Quick Release + Queen Bag. The Queen Bag is great for travel but it is a softcase. To be honest the easy rig is pretty hardy so i'm not worried about checking that into luggage.
Hey, yes it’s definitely more comfortable because it has a much better vest. However it is double the price so I’m not sure it’s ‘twice as comfortable’
@@JoshuaKirkNZ good to know. What vest do you recommend for the vario 5? Also have you tried the Stabil arm? I just received a minimax with stabil arm and seems a bit awkward bobbing up and down. Thinking of going with a vario 5 instead without the stabil.
what is the base plate set up that you have for your ursa? I am looking at the same padded shoulder mount from Small rig, but not sure what other components I need to connect to the cam.
Hey Anthony this is the shoulder plate we use: www.smallrig.com/smallrig-vct-14-shoulder-plate-1954.html?revpage=2&setCurrencyId=19&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjvaYBhDlARIsAO8PkE39NmNcTg7pn-dAut7fyxxcBJiZj2rIzbykXWNtngRCZbz1N_u_R0UaAm6tEALw_wcB
Have pretty much the exact same setup. But with the 12K. I like to use the EVF a lot. Is it easy enough to have the camera float at shoulder height so one could use the BMD EVF?

Thanks for watching the whole doco and for the kind words. Appreciate the support.
Great hint with the additional mounting point for downward tilts, will try this out with my minimax. Thanks!
Thanks Rob!

Thanks Peter - Hope it works for ya!
AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING video my man!
Cheers mate!

Hey Cinemavius thank you 🙏 Enjoy the Stabil!
Thanks for this tutorial mate, using it for the first time on a shoot tomorrow!
Epic - How's the Easyrig going for ya?
Joshua: Thank you for a excellent introduction to the Vario 5 and for your suggestions. I'll use them.
Thank you - All the best using it!

Nice!
Thanks Brad! Have you got an auto comment setup to be the first on every video - Haha!
I’m just hanging out for when your merch line drops 🧢

Yes exactly! The heavier your camera is, the smoother the shot will be but your still going to have movement.
Great video! Do you know how to find the ball joint / frog hook on amazon US ?
No sorry. I have tried finding it on Amazon but we can only source it from our supplier in NZ. Not sure where they order it in from? www.tadpole.nz/easyrig-flowcine-cineamadevices-accessories#/frog-tail-frog-clip-attachment/

whats the piece on the frog hook that lets you attach to the quick release?
It's this one here: www.tadpole.nz/easyrig-flowcine-cineamadevices-accessories#/frog-tail-frog-clip-attachment/
That's great. There is no detailed image about Easyrig like this. Is image stabilization on?
There's no image stabilisation on the URSA.
Could you tell me where you got the ring that is attached to top handles?
Hey - I purchase them from a New Zealand site which is here: www.tadpole.nz/easyrig/accessories#/eye-bolts/
Where can I find that Frog Hook with the ball joint? Or did you attach the ball joint to that frog hook?
www.tadpole.nz/easyrig-flowcine-cineamadevices-accessories#/frog-tail-frog-clip-attachment/
Nice video. What kind of frog hook is it you use? It directly attaches to the quickrelease. Can you share where to buy it please?
Hey Frei - We purchase this using a NZ distributor here: www.tadpole.nz/easyrig-flowcine-cineamadevices-accessories#/frog-tail-frog-clip-attachment/
Could you have gotten away with the mini max with the G2 or is the vario 5 a must given the weight?
A fully rigged out Ursa Mini is around 18-24 lbs, which is too heavy for a Minimax
Is the vario 5 more comfortable than the minimax from your experience even if the load is only 7kg?
Hey, yes it’s definitely more comfortable because it has a much better vest. However it is double the price so I’m not sure it’s ‘twice as comfortable’
@@JoshuaKirkNZ good to know. What vest do you recommend for the vario 5? Also have you tried the Stabil arm? I just received a minimax with stabil arm and seems a bit awkward bobbing up and down. Thinking of going with a vario 5 instead without the stabil.
Hey mate. Can you please let me know the part names are for the frog hook system?
Hey mate, you can find them detailed here on this page: www.tadpole.nz/easyrig-flowcine-cineamadevices-accessories
What do you think about the Gimbalrig vest? Worth it instead of Cine vest?
I haven’t used the Gimbalrig vest and am really happy with the Cine Vest. The gimbal vest seems a little bulky, but that’s just from images.

Awesome! How does it travel on planes and through airports?
Yes you can check this in like any other bag.
Hey bro, what rail/top handle set up are you running on the Ursa there? Super helpful vid - thanks mate
No problem 👍 Thanks for the comment :) I use the SmallRig Nato Rail and Top Handles.
Where can we buy these in Aotearoa NZ
We purchased ours from David at www.tadpole.nz
Have pretty much the exact same setup. But with the 12K. I like to use the EVF a lot. Is it easy enough to have the camera float at shoulder height so one could use the BMD EVF?
Yes it is. You can move the hook from the vario 5 back to your shoulder
Yeah totally. The height of the arm is adjustable as well.
I’m #1000!!!!!!
