Fact of the matter is that the feddies all scrambled to stop the meteor, even if it was useless, and there wasn't anyone left to properly shoot the enemy back. You may not like it but it could happen. The whole point is that it caused a very rare change in heart for the enemy, which doesn't happen often. You can argue about what could have happened all you want, but this too is a possibility, unlikely as it may be.
One thing I loved about CCA was that for the first time in Gundam history, the grunt suits of both sides were shown to be more or less evenly matched with each other.

That scene where the Dogas didn’t hesitate to throw away their weapons and immediately helped the Jegans are so powerful. Shows you how there’s no plain bad and good sides, they’re mostly just soldiers trying to survive the war or died like a hero.
I respect that Neo Zeon designers went back to their roots and made a "reliable, simple to use for grunts, and easy to repair mobile suit". I just wish it wasn't so low performance. Char's Neo Zeon was on a budget. Most of their money went to making their ships, Sazabi, and mobile armors. So they only made about 100 Geara Dogas, and made them as cheap as possible. The Geara Doga was a budget mobile suits that was just barely good enough to put up a fight against Jegans, and nothing more. It was definitely *not* Neo Zeon's best work.
I can agree with that. Would've been better to make more geara dogas and jagd dogas for commanders over that awful mobile armor. The geara Zulu also suffered in this regard.

Yeah. What's unfortunate is that they lost a lost a lot of the Doven Wolves and Zaku III and other high performance machines in the last neo zeon war and zeon civil war plus Chars rush to end things. (Which I guess you can say ended in him losing three times faster)
I love how simultaneously indestructible and useless shields are in this universe, and how coaxial auto cannons can either tear a MS in half, shoot down a swarm of homing missiles, or just… sorta sprinkle em’ with low velocity lead pebbles
The shields are weaks only when is needed by the trama. But 60mm vulcan are actually good guns, and with that rate of fire ooff... even in WWII they used 40mm bofors with AA shells, they were pretty effective.

I love the ending of Char's Counterattack. Amuro inspiring all sides to come together to save the Earth was truly powerful. Also, I love that sound effect that plays when that Loto shot off the Geara Doga's arm.

They had to focus on quality over quantity, maximizing survivability by making beam spam tanks. Char's neo-nazis then in turn couldn't afford it nor had the facilities to even make their own MS, instead relying on Anaheim to keep selling arms to both sides.

Best to have MS that were as effective and survivable as possible for the few pilots they had than building far more cheap ones than they had pilots for. Zeon MS pilots in the OYW are an analogy to Japanese and German fighter pilots in WW2. The former became so depleted of experienced pilots command concluded they were basically useless in air-to-air and decided to instead use them as kamizae's.
That's a great machine! I love Zeon suits, it feels more "war ready" than the feddies ones with lots of grenades, spare mags and hard points on it's armor.
The new G-Witch set in Ad Stella calendar is pretty much straight up late UC level tech. Kakarot197 even speculates that Ariel has an EXAM or NT-D system equivalent.
Yeah, I like Unicorn but it definitely veers into space magic bs territory. The Hathaway movie is a lot more grounded and realistic feeling than Unicorn if you need something to scratch the late UC itch

AMS-119C Geara Doga featured in the manga "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Bande Dessinee". Full Frontal destroying a squad of brand new Jegan type-D and then stealing the prototype Sinanju Stein.
I thought the head vulcan is just for taking down the monitor and missiles, but not powerful enough to blow up the whole MS (as gunpla manuals say). However, UC MS/MA are always the better choice and more logical for me (not like PS armor, infinite energy, trans-am, curving beam (without logical reason), dober gun that can use both beam and physical ammo…) Anyway, glad to see you back again during the pandemic and the pressure from Bandai, Jhhk.
Those Vulcan shots were followed beam shots, they just have the same colour. Also Elitism much? UC got Space Magic too, it's Sci-Fi, just because it's not explained to us, it's that it's impossible in their universe.

If they can't put the energy in it to power an I-field then why put any armor in it when most enemies are using weapons only an I-field could stop. The geara dogga is probably made of the lightest available metal, so an enemy Vulcan gun moving at high speeds against the geara dogga thats also going fast will just get shredded with the machingun rounds destructive capabilities amplified by the speed.
Amuro spared more pilots' lives here in Counterattack than the entire 79 series. 1:21 I Always found it interesting how he just slashed that MS arm and took his rifle from his other hand. Sad Char destroyed it.

The Zulu's literally a cost-reduced Doga so it's only natural. Built so the space nazi politicians at side 3 could supply as many as possible to space nazi terrorists while not breaking the bank so badly the federation could clearly tell and charge them for supporting terrorists.
I couldn't help but notice that some of the firing sound effects starting at 0:08 are the same sound that's used for Decepticon lasers in Transformers G1 cartoon, and the ones at 1:17 are the Autobot ones.
Kinda like the short scene of the Doga pilots coming to help with the Asteroid. Broke my heart seeing the Jegan reach out trying to keep hold of the one tumbling away. Shows a little bit of humanity and respect between them all. Not all these side characters or throwaway grunts in the Gundam movies and series have desires to be hot shot pilots and so on. Some are just fulfilling a duty whether voluntarily or voluntold. When it comes down to doing what’s right is where your true colors shine.
From my very limited knowledge with these giant space robots from the RUclips recommendations rabbit hole, they have the firepower to literally chop like a thousand comically large spaceships up and they still opt to push a astroid.
Universal Century mobile suits do not have that kind of firepower. They can blow up ships if they know where to shoot, but Axis is an asteroid that span somewhere from 30 to 50 kilometers in length and height, even a colony laser only managed as much as jusy pushing it off course in Zeta. Even if it's just half of it, no amount of beam rifles they had available would be enough to even trim it down before it falls.
The asteroid has been captured by earth's gravity. They don't have the firepower to break it down, but if they did, the massive amount of debris would be insanely catastrophic.
It just dawned on me a potential reason the Geara Doga was weak to Vulcan guns. The alloy used to make it was weaker than any previous mobile suit before being made of titanium ceramic instead of titanium, steel or even gundarium alloy
Lotsa spikes, not once do you see em used as a ram (neither right shield or left pauldron). Really makes you question why put em there if youll never use em (especially with beam weapons).
A return to the familiar Zaku II form and a very high performance one at that, even if original Zaku II was also considered good performing until the Federation started fielding their own MS. :) I had a funny theory about the name Geara Doga. A war machine, gear if you will, piloted by a dog of war. But that's just my idea. :D

The Jegan briefly holding the Doga's hand just before it tumbles away and explodes is probably one of the greatest moments in the franchise.
That Jegan pilot was actually Yuu Kajima who piloted the Blue Destiny units 1 and 3 back in the OYW.

性能は基礎設計が古い都合上、既に旧式化しつつあるが、それでも性能はジェガンと同等クラスと、元々の設計の完成度の高さが伺える。
本機最大の特徴は、名機ザクを彷彿とさせるカスタム性と拡張性の高さである。
武装面はモード切り替えによりライフルモードとマシンガンモードの2つを持つ一般兵と小隊長で異なる2種類のビームマシンガン 様々な形状に変更可能なビームアックス そして豊富な実弾装備。基本装備の時点で既にパイロットに合わせて細かな調整をすることが可能。
そしてバックパックの換装により、重装型へお手軽に切り替えられる他、ヤクト・ドーガのベースになるなどその拡張性は目を見張るものがある(まあ元々サイコミュ搭載を想定してない都合上、ヤクトに関してはサイコフレームゴリ押ししてるのだが)
劇中では新生ネオジオンの主力機として連邦軍と激戦を繰り広げた。
「地球がダメになるかならないからなんだ。やってみる価値ありますぜ！」
そのフレームの基本設計と拡張性はその後の、袖付きとマフティーとオールズモビル(ジオンマーズ)でも活用されるぐらい。

I thought the head vulcan is just for taking down the monitor and missiles, but not powerful enough to blow up the whole MS (as gunpla manuals say).
However, UC MS/MA are always the better choice and more logical for me (not like PS armor, infinite energy, trans-am, curving beam (without logical reason), dober gun that can use both beam and physical ammo…)
Anyway, glad to see you back again during the pandemic and the pressure from Bandai, Jhhk.
Those Vulcan shots were followed beam shots, they just have the same colour.
Also Elitism much? UC got Space Magic too, it's Sci-Fi, just because it's not explained to us, it's that it's impossible in their universe.
@@MidoriNatsume Actualy I think the Geara Dogga was just shit armored. If they can't put the energy in it to power an I-field then why put any armor in it when most enemies are using weapons only an I-field could stop. The geara dogga is probably made of the lightest available metal, so an enemy Vulcan gun moving at high speeds against the geara dogga thats also going fast will just get shredded with the machingun rounds destructive capabilities amplified by the speed.

パッと見ジオン系だけど、マラサイがベースになっており連邦系の技術も受け継いでいる名機。第一次ネオジオン戦争末期の様な強大な火力を装備して一騎当千する様な思想を改めて高い拡張性と経験の浅いパイロットでも運用出来る汎用性が特徴である。
第二次ネオジオン戦争では82機しか投入されていないがこの頃の連邦軍は財政難から軍縮が始まっており連邦上層部もシャアの偽りの交渉を真に受けて事態を楽観視していた。
唯一、ロンド・ベルはシャアの動きを警戒していたがコロニーの監視や治安維持の為に編成された外郭部隊で規模も小さくガンダムタイプの配備を禁止されていた為、少数精鋭のネオジオン軍よりも兵力は少なく苦戦を強いられた。

Zulu is less beefy, has a gas mask motif for a face and a WWII style helmet for a head. :)

The Zulu's literally a cost-reduced Doga so it's only natural. Built so the space nazi politicians at side 3 could supply as many as possible to space nazi terrorists while not breaking the bank so badly the federation could clearly tell and charge them for supporting terrorists.
I couldn't help but notice that some of the firing sound effects starting at 0:08 are the same sound that's used for Decepticon lasers in Transformers G1 cartoon, and the ones at 1:17 are the Autobot ones.
Hey,laser sound effects are laser sound effects. And,additional fact,you can hear the Star Wars lightsaber when some suits activate their beam sabres.

Kinda like the short scene of the Doga pilots coming to help with the Asteroid. Broke my heart seeing the Jegan reach out trying to keep hold of the one tumbling away. Shows a little bit of humanity and respect between them all. Not all these side characters or throwaway grunts in the Gundam movies and series have desires to be hot shot pilots and so on. Some are just fulfilling a duty whether voluntarily or voluntold. When it comes down to doing what’s right is where your true colors shine.
From my very limited knowledge with these giant space robots from the RUclips recommendations rabbit hole, they have the firepower to literally chop like a thousand comically large spaceships up and they still opt to push a astroid.
They're called mobile suits.
Universal Century mobile suits do not have that kind of firepower. They can blow up ships if they know where to shoot, but Axis is an asteroid that span somewhere from 30 to 50 kilometers in length and height, even a colony laser only managed as much as jusy pushing it off course in Zeta. Even if it's just half of it, no amount of beam rifles they had available would be enough to even trim it down before it falls.
The asteroid has been captured by earth's gravity. They don't have the firepower to break it down, but if they did, the massive amount of debris would be insanely catastrophic.
I had never noticed that, for a time when beam weaponry was the rule, CCA had a ton of missiles and physical projectiles used

It just dawned on me a potential reason the Geara Doga was weak to Vulcan guns. The alloy used to make it was weaker than any previous mobile suit before being made of titanium ceramic instead of titanium, steel or even gundarium alloy
A really cool MS design, with paper on it's left arm that cannot withstand Jegan's vulcan

I think it was the Jegan's rifle broke the shield. After the head vulcans were fired, he followed immediately with the beam rifle(?).

I had a funny theory about the name Geara Doga. A war machine, gear if you will, piloted by a dog of war. But that's just my idea. :D
sure its not high performing as previous neo zeon suits but it like the zaku lineage it was admired for its reliability and ease of matiness
