Then he goes back to using the ball units like a fighter jet and fucking destroying units so efficiently that it gives the opponents PTSD towards the ball unit.
The charm of the GM lies in the fact that, despite its simple appearance, it is quite a powerful mobile suit in terms of its settings. It's interesting how it can look incredibly strong depending on how it's portrayed in the anime. I personally love plot developments where mass-produced mobile suits play a significant role.
I would have been dead in a Ball near the beginning of the war, then my weak ass newtype conscious would have ended up in some failed Char clone named Power Bottom, or some such nonsense
That was various of aces doing that and Zeon had more experience pilots well until near the of war, how many zaku, doms, goufs, gelgoog, the gyan, big zam, and mobile armors just the gundans destroyed, there only hand full them.
UC needs more animated content of GMs doing more than explode whenever a Zaku looks at them funny. At the very least, Tenneth Jung deserves an animated spin-off where he styles on enemy aces who are all "It's just a GM! Why isn't it dying?!"
Of course Mu La Flaga would use the GM Juggler, not only does death not effect him, but neither does the multiverse. Funny enough, I could see him as one of the few pilots who could actually use it well.
Technically, any fella with enhanced spatial awareness can drive the GM Juggler... heck, you can put say, Morgan Chevalier (from the Astray mangas) or Amuro Ray (the CCA version, that is) and it will be a potent mobile suit.
And luckily for him in that G Generation Advance Rau didn't had Providence yet (since Providence and Justice not debuted yet when the game was finished developed)
That's why I love 0083 one of the few series where the GM's fight back .I do love the GM kai and the GM cannon 2 but painted in the standard gun cannon colors is a thing of beauty.
If you look at Germany in WW2 and how many refits and redesigns, they had of their tanks during the course of the war it would make the Federation look reasonable.
true just wish they had better water suits, i girhen greed i had to hope that i get a stolen design from zeon, any one of those becomes the main underwater suit for the rest of the game into the axis endgame.
My head cannon for the number of variants. Quick search shows the total number of active military fighter craft at around 53,000. With a space mining economy I can see the Federation fielding triple that number. 2/3s would probably be the Vanilla units as the backbone. The remaining third are variants.
Good to see The White Dingo team getting recognition. They retook Australia with nothing but GMs and pure skill. No newtypes, no gundams etc. That always makes me happy especially knowing a SRW finally introduced them and have their own combo attack. Edit; after finding the footage again, it's NOT SRW BUT, Gundam SD GGG(?). It REALLY does LOOK like an SRW game though.
Wow, for a war that lasted only one year and for a mobile suit that was introduced only late in that war, the GM certainly had a lot of variants! Maybe they should have made it the Three Year or Five Year War!
Originally the war against zeon predicted will last longer than one year. Before amuro piloting gundam, federation still doesn't have effective mean to train their many MS pilot. Thanks to char discovered gundam test site, forcing amuro piloting gundam and whole fiasco afterwards, federation manage to obtain amuro combat data to create system assistant for their MS pilot. After zeon failed attack against jaburo, federation taking advantage zeon loss of MS forces, push forward counter offensive
Yeah, the 0080 GM's are my faves too, it's sad seeing them getting trashed on screen in the OVA. However, they carried the major brunt of the fighting and many of them seem to be not fully prepared (missing shields, etc) they prevented the cyclops team from accomplishing their mission and the Alex played a minor role.
A true work horse unit that in all honesty deserves as much love as the Zaku gets. There's also the engineering side of the GMs that shows just how optimized the production was that many could be made due to all the variants sharing so many parts.
As someone who loves Federation Mobile Suits, particularly GMs, I consider this a great early Christmas gift. As for which GMs I’d pilot during the OYW, I’d probably go the same route as an OC of mine went; starting off in a RGM-79 [G] GM Ground Type for the battles on Earth, before moving on to a vanilla RGM-79 GM in space, then a brief stint piloting a RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type, and finally a RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom.
I don’t think it helped that the only time we saw it on screen was 17 years after it was rolled out. Combine that with a surprise attack during peacetime, those poor guys didn’t stand a chance.
Yea, you are definitely not wrong, expesaly by that Mobile armor 😂.. and a kapool.. they did not stand a snowballs chance .. if I was one of those pilots I would have said fuck that... the fedration needed more Jeagens at the very least
My OYW Pilot would have started with the Vanilla GM, before upgrading to the GM Kai by the end of the One Year War. However, in Origin's OYW he'd probably stick with the GM shoulder cannon variant all the way through. And in Thunderbolt's OYW he'd have upgraded to the Gundam Head at the end instead of the Kai.

Look at weapons development during ww2 for example the ammount of odd tanks and planes throught out beside the standards like the p47 or the m4 is insane. Most never went anywhere but a whole lot of odd units got made rather fast.
I always love a good GM custom! I feel like because Gundam's are such hyper specific units, you don't always get to see the personality of the pilot shine through (with some exceptions of course!) but GMs have such a range of options, the pilot gets to really make they're mark on it, especially Ace's.
It's fun seeing you use pictures of the Robot Spirits figures for some of the GMs, because I've been collecting them and this was a nice "checklist" to see which ones I'm missing (not many actually!).
I would not be a MS pilot in the OYW unless an Amuro-esque situation happened- I'd be disqualified due to poor eyesight and low blood pressure.
