    I'm retired now but I spent about 7 years flying the 75 & 76 for Delta. Boeing really got it right with the 75! Powerful yet economical, perfect control harmony and a quiet cockpit. I wish Boeing kept the 75 line going instead of endless steroid shots for the 73. I flew the 73 too, but the early -200 series. It was fun and easy to fly but at some point it's time for a "clean sheet" design. The 72 was also a great jet to fly but by modern standards under-powered even though it was faster once it got up a head of steam. Glad to see the Delta crowd is working hard and turning out superior service.

      You said it best. The 757 is great. Should have kept it going but given it new engines or even new wings for better efficiency. Shortly after production ended it became the go-to economical transatlantic cruiser.

      CoyDog790 just a fun fact about the buzzing sound: it is caused when the fan is spinning at a high speed which breaks the sound barrier

    • @christopherjamesfleming2514
      @christopherjamesfleming2514 3 года назад +1

      @@RefrigeratedWaffles2 No it doesn't. The engines fan is geared specifically so that it doesn't break the sound barrier. If it did it would be much less efficient to operate and could destroy the engine.

    • @jmaner89
      @jmaner89 3 года назад +1

      @@christopherjamesfleming2514 Capt_CJ is correct. The buzzing sound IS caused by shockwaves from the fan blade tips reaching supersonic speeds. While it is true that this brings down efficiency due to drag, there is no worry about it destroying the engine. Just listen to almost any modern turbofan and you'll notice this buzzing sound at high speeds. The engine inlets are specifically designed so that the air entering the fan is subsonic, so maybe that's what you're getting at? Also, these engines are Pratt & Whitney PW2000s, which are not geared. The newer Pratt & Whitney PW1000G series ARE geared (Airbus A220, A320neo, etc).

    there is no airbus that possesses 1/10 the class of the 757. Pilots love them, passengers enjoy them, accountants celebrate them, and mechanics have their own opinions. These have been yanked from service, to be replaced with A321 mindless robotic airliners. Not happy about that.....
