      @AB-80X 9 месяцев назад +5

      Yep, but those days are long gone. These days a pilot is risking his job by flying in a way that does not follow company economical procedures. If a pilot fools around these days, next thing you know, is that you're standing in front of your boss, who asks you if the money for the fuel you wasted is coming out of your own pocket.

    The last time I flew Delta, it was on an MD-88. They take off like a space shuttle due to the rear-mounted engines. It seems Delta is moving to all Airbus, it's rare to find a Delta Boeing plane.

      @twincitiesaviator  2 года назад +2

      It’s a bit steeper because of the mall complex at the end of the runway. We leveled off a bit with the throttle back.

    Not trying to be pedantic, but that looked like a totally normal take-off based on fuel economy.
    There's 23 seconds from the engines reach take-off power until the plane lifts off. That's a long time in 757 terms - even fully laden, it can be as low as 15 seconds from a dead stop. Those 23 seconds does not even include the ramp up. Also the engines were throttled back shortly after take-off. When the 757 does the famous steep climb, the throttle remains pinned until the end of the climb-out. And lastly, that engine pitch is just not high enough to be a full power take-off/steep climb.
    This was a fairly recent flight, and airlines, especially budget oriented airlines like Delta, don't do those powerful take-off's any more - they are all things considered, very expensive to do.

    • @twincitiesaviator
      @twincitiesaviator  9 месяцев назад

      You’re probably right lol. It certainly felt steeper than what I’m used to anyway. Only reason we might have had a slightly steeper ft per nm climb initially is because the mall of America is right off the departure end of the runway we used.

    • @twincitiesaviator
      @twincitiesaviator  8 месяцев назад

      Most of the Delta cabins are pretty aged but it has a classic feel to it and for good reason. Get up in the front of comfort+ or anywhere in first to hear the engines. Really amps up the avgeek side of the experience. I have zero complaints about the 75 whatsoever.
