It’s insane that McTiernan directed Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October, and Predator all on the span of a few years. Anyone would be happy to have just one of those films on their resume.
I didn't know that. I need to start paying more attention to who the directors of movies are. I respect the art, just never paid close attention to who the artist was.
And then he directed Last Action Hero which was way ahead of its time and is a perfect pastiche of the action genre.
@@Tehui1974 Once you start learning behind the scenes people, a whole new world of filmmaking opens up to you and helps you to love your favorite movies even more after knowing who made them and how they did it.
The commentary track is all him, and he has some very interesting anecdotes about the production of the film. There’s some real hilarious stuff too, and very worthwhile.
Die hard 3 also, the 2 is ok, but....
In the Predator's culture, the more formidable the prey one manages to bring down, the higher their standing in society. The idea pretty much is, the tougher the prey you manage to bring down, the tougher, smarter, and worthy you are. The successful hunter proves they are the superior being, and so the more honor you earn.
@Narkomancers And if a Predator/Yautja can kill a xenomorph aka "the hard meat", in hand to hand combat, they gain a great level of respect as well. Killing a queen was really rare though. If memory serves, there have been only a small handful of legendary Yautja to accomplish this.
You should watch Conan: The Barbarian. It was Arnold's breakout movie, and still one of his best. It's also faithful to the spirit of Robert E Howard's original character and setting, which is a great example of pre-Lord of the Rings swords and sorcery High Fantasy. It always brings me back to my early RPG days.
Good reaction, btw.
Hercules in New York was Arnold's best movie!
Yes!
@@DeusExMachina50 LOL! No way! So cringe!
@@willcool713 How dare you! Blasphemy!
"Conan! What is best in life?"
"To crush your enemies! To see them driven before you! To hear the lamentation of the women!"
The pilot of the helicopter at the end of the movie is also the same actor who played the predator creature both in this movie and in Predator 2
For spooky season I recommend the film Jacob’s Ladder from 1990. It's one of the few films which got under my skin watching it as an adult. It successfully combines psychological horror, mystery, and drama into a thought-provoking movie. Congrats on 15,000! 🎉
best psychological thriller film I've seen... topping even "The Shining".
A fantastic film. Great atmosphere. Tim Robbins is awesome in it. A very underrated film.
@@dneill8493 Completely agree on all counts.
@@Lue_Jonin The Shining and Jacob’s Ladder are possibly my two favorite scary movies.
@@nathanaustin6129 What about The Thing?. I love the tension and atmosphere in that. As well as the practical effects.
💫 Fun Fact: the huge mini-gun that Blaine(“I ain’t got time to bleed.”) used was the very same mini-gun Arnold used in Terminator 2 when he shot up all the police cars and when he scanned for deaths, it read “Human Casualties: 0.0”.
Total Recall, Twins, and Commando are some of Arnold's top movies besides Predator and T1 and T2. The Running Man, Raw Deal, and True Lies are solid as well.
Twins and commando are cheap, CONAN !
I think one of his most underrated performances is in the film Maggie.
@@mignonthon How dare you!! but yeah Conan is pretty good. It just seems like it is from another era from the rest of his big movies. feels like it was filmed in the late 60's early 70's. kind of like a Barbarian Clint Eastwood movie.
@@Jolly-Green-Steve ah no , Conan the 1st is a masterpiece, little dialog and a the soundtrack is magic.
Its a inteligent movie not a full action one.
But i understand that some people view it as a brutal stupid movie, but its not.
And why not 60s 70s movies ?
Being frendly.
Last Action Hero has some interesting ideas despite its shaky execution.
Didn't see anyone mention it but the helicopter pilot at the end was the actor who plays the predator.
I feel you would get a big blast out of "True Lies" with Arnold , Tom Arnold , Bill Paxton..... such a funny action packed spy movie 😆 ❤ 🎥
That was a script that everyone in Hollywood said hey, I'll do it but only if my friend is in. And it all hinged on Arnold. 99 times out of 100 that breaks and collapses the production. This time, it didnt and benefited for it.
At least it has that feel. Nowadays many projects suffer for this same approach.
And James Cameron (before _Avatar_ ).
Commando with Arnold and Alyssa Malano is another good one. Trick or treat is a great Halloween movie
"Commandio" might just be the most '80's action-y movie of all '80's action movies.
For a Halloween film, I’d suggest Silver Bullet. It’s kind of a campy, but scary werewolf movie which I think is vastly underrated.
Now that you've seen T1, T2, and Predator, the next Arnold film you should watch is "Total Recall". It's got a great story line, it's fast paced, and an all around great action film. Definitely one of Arnold's best.
And if you're looking for a great Halloween film, I highly recommend trying "The Changeling" (1980) with George C. Scott. It's a great old fashioned haunted house ghost story, it's very well done, and it's a cult classic. Give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.
Congratz on your subscriber count!! I can't get enough of your calm "down-to-earth" reactions... Keep doing what you're doing! :)
I'm glad they don't reveal too much about the Predator in this movie. Sometimes little is more. The less you know about the Predator the scarier he seems. It also inspires genuine intrigue. Fans want to know more about the Predator lore. I think that's why it has endured to such fandom after all these decades. It's a true cult classic!! -OG
I love this movie. My Dad's nickname was Dutch. Every time I watch this I'm reminded of him. Great stuff.
Congratulations on 15k Madison!! That's awesome!
I think this is such a unique film as it starts out as a typical 80s war movie and then changes genre and becomes a horrific gore monster film who also happens to be an extraterrestrial! Very original. -OG
You’re one of the better reactors i’ve seen on this film because you are absorbed by the film and NOT talking every second. Sometimes just your intent focus on the movie makes for a better reaction instead of constant commentary.
Thank you so much for showing Predator. One of my all time favorite movies. Saw it in the theater a few times when it came out.
Okay, Madison, I have enjoyed your reactions so much. Now that you have seen this one, you must see a 2022 movie called "Prey," I think on Hulu, in which the Predator shows up in 1719, and interacts with Native Americans. Really cool.
Some good Halloween movie recommendations: The Fly (1986), The Crow (1994), Event Horizon (1997).
Great Review! This is one of Arnies best films. Congrats on 15,000 subscribers!
Kevin Peter Hall played the Predator. He was also the pilot of the helicopter at the end. Regrettably he is no longer with us. (May 9, 1955 - April 10, 1991)
Be safe
Probably the most unexpected Schwarzenegger role, in retrospect, is his part in "Stay Hungry." The 1976 movie was filmed in Birmingham, Alabama and he played a supporting role as a weightlifter working in gym. You get to see Arnold playing a fiddle. Downtown Birmingham is visible when the tallest buildings were what are now the AT&T building and the Regions Bank building. Other scenes were shot in Mountain Brook. Jeff Bridges and Sally Field star, along with some other well-known actors like Robert Englund (Freddie Krueger) and Roger Moseley (T.C. from the original "Magnum, P.I.")
I love Stay Hungry, it's probably Arnold's most unique and different performance he's ever given. I will warn this film is not for everybody, as it is a typical shaggy and quirky 70's low- key character study but if you enjoy those kind of movies Stay Hungry is a great one.
Congratulations on 15k, Madison! 🎉
Really loved your commentary on this one. You are the first reactor I've seen that pretty much nailed it 100%. Most people miss a lot of nuances or misunderstand motivations for both the human characters and the Predator. You were wonderfully accurate. Great job, and as usual I'm looking forward to your next reaction!
Congratulations, Madison! Here's to many more surpassed milestones to come. May God continue to bless you with creativity and the courage to share that with the rest of us, be it thoughtful expression after a movies, your skillful and captivating artwork, or your future literary endeavours. Thank you for enduring the labour required to provide content for us to enjoy; we appreciate you for it and I hope it is increasingly rewarding for you just as you are an encouragement to us.
And the same goes for your cousin's band, too!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Ray!💖
Yes. More Arnold please.
Conan and True Lies
True Lies is a must!
Congratulation to 15k. Well deserved. 20k will coming soon👌
🎉
Every female Predator reactor during THAT scene: "Man that's just such a waste of ammunition..."
Every male reactor: (sheds tear for brotherhood) "Those are true friends. No questions asked, no hesitation, just 'my brother is firing in that direction, therefore I must do the same'". 😂
Indeed
Congrats on 15,000...Woo Hoo....I love your reactions. And I love how you love westerns.... That is my favorite type of movie....Prey is another good movie..🎉
Celebrating 15,000 subscribers with the manliest movie to ever have been manned is awesome 👌
One thing that most people miss the first time round (I know I did) is that when the Predator shoots Arnie, he actually hits his rifle and not Arnie, which is why he’s able to escape with only a relatively minor injury. It’s just a little detail that isn’t made 100% clear in the movie.
As for the rest, damn, it’s fun! Classic 1980s quotable carnage, and yet slightly subversive, too! This was made at the height of the muscle-man action film trend, but John McTiernan wasn’t too interested in directing a brainless movie about brawny guys shooting stuff, so he chose to gently satirise the whole thing by amping up the macho-ness to 11, before showing that all the muscle, guns and testosterone in the world were useless in the face of this threat (the firing into the jungle with everything they had and hitting nothing was a good illustration of this - it’s a semi-Freudian way of saying that the men are basically impotent). It’s only by using his brains and cunning that Arnie is able to come out on top. I think that is a big part of why this film has remained popular for so long - it aspires to be a little bit more than an average shoot-em-up, and it’s something that McTiernan continued with in Die Hard, which was perhaps the first big nail in the coffin for the muscle-man hero in cinema.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy many more Arnie movies, Madison (and congratulations on 15,000 subscribers! )… now get to the choppa!
Congratulations on the milestone 🎉🎉
One of the top 2 action movies of all time. McTiernan knew his shit. A smart, subversive, tightly made movie
According to you Minority Report is an action movie but Predator isn't. Have a wonderful day.
In the comic lore. The Yauija (Predator) hunt to honor the savior of their race. They were slaves to another race and a group led by a legendary Yauija began to hunt the enslavers and eventually freed the Yauija race. So they made it a tradition.
🎉 also I love in Predator lore, they call us "Soft Meat". The Alien is "Hard Meat".
Congratulations Madison for 15k subs, well deserved. Cool reaction as always, take care sweetie 🥰
Top 5 horror flicks Madison does not have posted in her channel...
1. The Shining
2. A Nightmare On Elm Street
3. 28 Days Later
4. The Exorcist
5. The Silence Of The Lambs
....and one fun one... Beetlejuice.
Congrats on 15K subs, Madison. Great reaction, I knew you'd like this one - it definitely is one of Arnie's best.
this is my all time favorite movie🎉 hope you enjoy it as well
Aaaaahnold was THE action star of the Eighties. You knew you were in for awesome when a new Schwarzenegger movie was released. ✌🏻🎉
Congrats on reaching 15K, Madison. Your analysis and insight is always excellent and hopefully 20K and more coming soon.
Hi congratulations on hitting 15k. I really like your reaction to films. I recommend Hellraiser or A Nightmare on Elm Street.🎉
I'm instant fan just for you acknowledging Alan Silvestri. His resume is legendary
💙 your reaction helped me during my PTSD
♥🙏
@@MadisonKThames you ROCK 🤘💯🙂
The manliest yell in movie history. 18:46
🎉Congrats on your 15k subscribers here on YT Madison!!! You should definitely watch Prey. However, before you do. You should at least watch Predator 2. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just leave it at that. I do think you'll enjoy Predator 2 though. It's similar to the first Predator but very different at the same time. In any case, I loved your reaction to Predator. I can't wait to see your reactions in October!🎃
ALIEN meets RAMBO could've been the elevator pitch - awesome hybrid of sci-fi & action - one of Arnold's finest moments. Stan Winston's mad skills at their peak in creating the alien and directed w/elan by DIE HARD director John McTiernan. Fun fact: the late Kevin Peter Hall, who plays the Predator, has a cameo as the rescue chopper pilot at the end. Great job Mads!
A great reaction, Madison. A pity I can't enter your competition as I'm in the UK. Arnie films I recommend are: 'True Lies', 'Total Recall', 'End Of Days', 'Conan The Barbarian', 'Conan The Destroyer', and 'Commando'. As for horror films, 'The Exorcist', 'Halloween', 'The Shining' and 'The Birds' (Alfred Hitchcock) are good choices.
Congratulations on 15k! 🎉
Summer of 84’ and Lake Mungo are two of my favorite movies to watch around Halloween
Congratulations on 15,000 subscribers! Great review. Disappointed your competition isn't for international people as well but that is understandable.
Congratulations on the 15K milestone, Madison. Having that many subscribers is very impressive! 🎉👍
Predator mimicking and taunting Dutch's men is not only intimidating 😳 but down right scary. Especially when the Predator uses Billy's laugh at the end of the film before he nuked himself!! -OG
Congrats on the 15k. You should try out Train to Busan for halloween. Was curious if you ever got to "the ballad of buster scrugs"? Great Western
Please watch STAR TREK! Give it a chance! 🖖
Your analysis is correct. It is a safari trip where he takes as many and as dangerous of trophies as it can.
Congrats Madison! Since I don't live in the US I won't be able to participate but I'm happy for you. 🎉🥳
"True Lies" for a great but often overlooked Arnold movie.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Bill Paxton. Directed by James Cameron.
A top film.
In canon it is generally accepted that this predator here was looking to gain trophies. Which means he was a rookie.
Watch Predator 2 before Prey, as Prey has some "things" that make reference to Predator 2. I love the jungle setting for this movie and how the team of elite soldiers are picked off, which seemed to surprise you Madison. Then the Predator becomes the prey and Arnold escapes with a 1000 yard stare on the choppa :) at the end.
this is the first movie i look for when checking out movie reactions🎉
Congrats on 15k!! Good luck to everyone for the giveaway!! 🎉🎉🎉
Love your reacts and gratz on your 15K! Many more K's are in your future. 🎉
Congratulations on reaching 50k!
I am shocked an appalled that she didn't react at all to "the handshake." But then she says "Maybe it's like a coming of age trial for each Predator." Cue the holy church music...that's the observation so many reactors completely miss out on.
A bit of odd trivia. The actor who played the predator, since he was always in full costume, played the helicopter pilot at the end.
Funny how in my teens I had the opportunity to move to a state either run by Arnold or Jesse. I chose Arnold cause Ventura died in the movie and it was an omen. Good skit of Carl running for office on the platform of "I was in Predator too".
The predator is basically a trophy hunter. It wants a prize and a story, but that doesn't mean he fights fair. That's why Dutch and team are shown to be so... good at what they do first. Making them worthy prey.
Congrats on 15k 🎉🎉🎉
watch predator 2 and then avp
I like how your assumptions of the Predator's behaviour was pretty much on point. You should definitely have a look at Predator 2, then Prey, and finally AVP 1 and 2.
Only AvP1.
AvP2 is terrible.
@@riveraharper8166- Everybody is entitled to an opinion. Thank you for sharing yours.
🎉 great reaction and very impressive artwork!
Hercules in New York. Classic vintage Arnold.
Predator 2 then Prey....You won't be disappointed. Alot of people hate Predator 2 but it will fill in some of your unanswered questions. And it's another fun ride.
The newest Predator movie: Prey (2022)
Naturally this time the bad ass is a very intelligent woman who tries to achieve equality with men.
🎉 I saw this in the theaters when it was new, I still remember how awesome I thought is was while watching it for the first time!
For the spooky season, if you haven't already seen it, check out The Omen, the original 1976 version starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, not the inferior (and pointless) remake from 2006.
There are some other franchises that are supposed to be in the same predator\alien universe, but the only movies that acknowledge it is AVP.
Technically, Soldier (with Kurt Russell), the blade runners, and firefly\serenity also take place in the same universe due to either director comments or in show Easter eggs.
The only essential Predator-ordering is to watch Predator first. All the other movies you can come at from whatever angle you like, pretty much.
If you enjoyed this Arnold movie I highly recommend True Lies and Last Action Hero. I'd put Last Action Hero near the end of your Schwarzenegger watching experience. It has a lot of references to his movies within.
Also Predator 2 and Predators are solid sequels.
Try reacting to Arnie's END OF DAYS, it's not only one of my favorite Schwarzenegger movies but one of my favorite Action/Horror movies!
Very cool reactions young lady. Congrats on 15k subs. AVP is a good movie to get more background on both. Plus, it is a fun movie at to me.
Awesome reaction!! I loved it!! I would recommend Predator 2 because it kind of sets up Alien vs Predator.
If you haven't seen Psycho or Halloween those would be great movies for October.
8:30 And Poncho's response is just as great: "Oh...OK" 🤣🤣
10:14 The word you're looking for is transparent
16:53 Denying the Predator the satisfaction of spilling first blood
Fun fact: the pilot of the rescue helicopter is Kevin Peter Hall, the man behind the Predator makeup.
Hope you give the sequels a shot, aside from AVP: Requiem(2007). I'd say that is the one with no redeeming value. Definitely do NOT watch Prey before Predator 2.
You figured this out faster than any other reactor I've seen 👍✌
The reason that Arnie gives that look in T2 is because Jessie Ventura was the one with the minigun in this movie :)
for Ahnold's first venture into comedy, check out Twins (also starring Danny DeVito), you'll love it 😅
“Mad fan” is a cute idea.
As the old saying in the gun community goes, "You can't miss fast enough to win." Mac did hit the Predator early on, in the knee, but he/it took to the trees and took off before the others arrived to unleash an impressive but completely pointless dump of firepower and ammo into the jungle.
Gotta say, that's a awesome editin job, Ma'am. Also, I loved that, "Can't do much of anything with nails like that." comment. The comment of a REAL woman. No entitled princess here!
Dutch has probably got some serious PTSD after this, and except for Anna, no one to talk about shared experiences with.
Great reactions to the original Predator film, Madison!!!🎬🙂🙂🙂"Predator 2" and "Alien vs. Predator" are two films worth reacting to. There is a small tie in from "Predator 2" to the prequel "Prey". "Prey" is well made, with a strong female lead. "Slither" (2006) is an intersting horror film. It took many years to be available on blu ray, and has rarely been reacted to. It is James Gunn's first film and stars Nathan Fillian & Michael Rooker.
I loved "Prey". It was so good. Especially with the tie in to "Predator 2".
I agree "Predator 2" and "AVP" are worth checking out. The others in the franchise are kinda hit or miss...I still enjoyed watching them just knowing and accepting them for what they were.
Michael Rooker gets his chance to work with Arnold in The 6th Day.
predator 2 takes place in the city of L.A., and explains better what they are doing here. some people dont like it because arnold isnt in it. it stars danny glover as a police lieutenant and gary busey as an fbi agent. i love the second film.
Great reaction. PLEASE watch Predator 2. It’s a very underrated film. You’ll learn more about Predator culture in it. Also, it’s set in a different type of jungle; a concrete jungle. Bill Paxton and Danny Glover are in it.
Blain spitting his chew on Dillon's boot, Mac threatening to bleed Dillon if he gives away their position one more time, and Poncho mocks Dillon when he loses Anna and says 'maybe you need a leash, AGENT MAN!!.' In short, Dutch's team does not like Dillon though Dillon tries to be part of the team. Even being long time friends with Dutch doesn't help. Dutch can't help but feel his friend is hiding the truth about the mission from him.
And Dillon, unfortunately, seems to have lost his morality and sense of values since joining the CIA. Though he does try and redeem himself in the end. -OG
Congrats on 15K 🎉
The look on your face during half this video was priceless. Probably how I looked when I saw it as a kid. 🎉
