You know Justin, I really gotta say, I love that fact that you don’t put background music. I really enjoy listening to the actually sound of the wood turning and carving without and “interruptions” (Aside from you taking ofc 😅). I’ve watched essentially every video of yours and I’m loving them. Keep up the great work!!❤
Looks lovely! I like the uneven edges, makes it look really rustic and so so beautiful! If the oil is food safe it would also make a great fruit bowl or serving tray for finger food.
What a lovely piece Justin! I really enjoy the way you care so much about the life story of the trees you work with. Each item you craft is, in part, a memorial to a life that you clearly wish to honor. Thank you for sharing with us.
I absolutely love this channel, it feels very homey, like a nice, cozy rest stop among all the chaos online. It’s very comforting and inviting. I also appreciate the respect and love of nature, all around an amazing channel and a wonderful vibe
this channel feels like a grandpa/Uncle sharing their love of woodworking with you while you visit for the weekend. I love it a lot and completely agree with you!
Tree loving Wisconsinite here! When you make Wisconsin for your wooden map of the US, I think Tamarack Larch is a great candidate! As the Cranberry state, we have a lot of acidic bogs, where cranberries are native- as well as acid loving Tamarack trees, which grow in bogs all across the state. Please consider!
I was surprised at the warm color I found when I applied finish to a scrap of juniper that I mounted my house numbers on. It really is a beautiful wood and you brought out every ounce of it in your bowl. The growth rings are especially cool, and a nice way to memorialize the life of the tree. Looks like your work is dog approved!
First time watching one of your full videos (seen lots of shorts). Bowl looks fantastic. I bet the shop smells great when working. Always a great unique scent.
Suggestion: new series "Find the Chatoyancy" featuring wood you might not expect or there might just be a little Chatoyancy in every wood with the right piece to turn. Start with NC Dogwood. Need a new jingle for that series
Love the content man! You definitely are one of my favorite RUclipsrs around. I can’t wait to see what wood you use for my home state of Iowa. For a state that is stereotypically known for pigs, flat lands and corn, there really is a lot of unique trees that could come from our state.
You’ve inspired me to start woodturning. As much as I love your other videos, I really love watching a project in more of a real time setting. Taking notes. I’m sure you’ve gotten a crap-ton of comments suggesting you do some teaching videos. I know I’d sure watch and learn!
If anyone gives you a hard time for that watch tab remember, they're a badge of honor. Unless you got sunburned doing something terrible. Like burying a body in the desert before cutting up an old juniper... Love the bowl!
This one particular video had a lot of silent, almost hypnotic space in between dialogue, where we are inmersed in the wood working process as if we are there. Silently working, watching, softly smiling, a mega dose of exhilaration for all the patience junkies, being a part of turning one expression of life on earth into another as it moves with you now and next on its own accord, motionless, back to it's home as earth. A mirror so damn good you didnt even notice the reflection of one. Didn't know it was all you.
I had a really exhausting day, and as I was settling down, I thought, Justinthetrees sounds really good right about now. Thanks for the good vibes for relaxing!
ULTRA-SATISFYING to get to watch your creative process, in real-time. And it turned out to be quite the stunning display bowl. Squirrel Tested, and Miles Approved :)
This turned out amazing! Also, I was getting ready to comment "Why didn't you let Miles be in this after he was asking so insistently?" but then there he was at the end! 😃
I think it would be Hella neat if you made a chair and turned each individual spindle from a different log in the pile. Even if you don't know how to make a chair it would be amazing!
Hi Justin I was wondering if you could make a chess board with chess pieces out of wood. It would look really good like everything else you make. Keep the good work up!😊
My grandfather made a gaming table with a chess or checker board top. It is beautiful. You have so many pretty types of wood! I think you could build a beautiful game board or table!
I need to send you some wood native to my area. Bald cypress or southern Live oak are both amazing trees and look amazing. We even had a bald cypress that was over 3500 yeras old, The Senator!

I AGREE!! It’s very nice to just hear the woodworking without any large interruptions.😅
Good to see that Miles did get his rightful camera time at the end, curled up on the couch 😊
The shape of the finished bowl reminds me of a mushroom. You ended up with a really interesting organic look by keeping the live edge.
that oil really brought that wood to life very nicely
I liked watching the bowl take shape without knowing exactly how it would turn out. But of course it turned out beautiful. 😊 I love juniper. 🌲
Factors of 1000X when Miles joined in the frame :D
He looks so so comfortable!
The second I saw the shape i thought to myself, "that would make an amazing cake display pedestal." As always, you're vision came out beautiful!
10:56 - you can really see the sawdust spouting down the channel in that chisel! wow!
"What's in That Pile?" is my favourite rubric
Hey sorry for asking, what’s a Rubric?
@@DripSoup639 it's a heading on a document or a category on a list
This episode is perhaps the most expressive and artistic we've seen you.
the chatoyancy around the tree rings is just sublime. great work at celebrating them!
the growth rings!!! oh man!!! oh man!!!
i know nothing about woodworking but i could watch your videos for hours, so pretty
Woooooo! Tree-mendouse!😂 I love this woodworking because it’s so enjoyable to watch!😊
Can’t wait to see the end of the Canada map as a proud Nova Scotia native!
That is a beautiful piece love the color shape seeing the rings
I just love wood glad you share the pretties !
i wasn't sure how it would work as you were doing it but it ended up so beautifully by the end. like a flower
I love watching you experiment and learn. Your Juniper bowl looks amazing!
Watching that juniper log spin was just hypnotic. The rythm of the gouge just complimented it so well.
The parts when you finally get to the center of the bowl are so satisfying
Really gorgeous, and yes, the shape honors the tree!

Awesome 👍! I'm so glad it didn't fly apart! Stay safe. It's really a beautiful piece.
Being someone who has lived in Utah for so long, it’s so fun hearing about just how the tree has adapted to living here.
I love how it turned out, i did miss the usual info dump on this kind of tree. Although i can get how much extra work it is.

I really enjoyed the longer scenes that showed you working the piece.

Oh my goodness! I would LOVE for this to happen!
Always waiting for that✨chatoyancy✨
watching you turn is so peaceful and calming 🥰 the asmr of the lathe and the tool on the wood is just …. 👌

Eastern Red-Cedar would be cool, with its long history being used for fence posts on family farms statewide
@@Alex-RealApplebees I would agree. There’s a lot of those growing in the eastern part of the state.
Have a couple fun ones in mind for Iowa!
There really is a lot to choose from!
Fantastic compliment to the perfect precision vases. I like how it kind of looks like a toadstool
oh man, i was skeptical that this was gonna work but this is a real work of art! you had a very delicate but firm grip on this. turned out amazing!

Its so simple but so interesting
Idea: make a wooden cocktail shaker out of juniper wood and make a gin fizz
I love it.
Gorgeous piece, super unique and well done
Yes, your back!!!! But take as much time as you want between posts work can be really stressful so take your time. Still excited your back

Love the bowl!
The shape turned out amazing! Really cool to see your vision come to life on this one
Gorgeous bowl, incredibly well done!
need to make myself a cool rock display bowl.
Love the way this piece ended up, shape, chatoyancy and everything!

Damn, room vibes +50-60 from that single bowl :-)

this is so so cool!!!! such a beautiful shape with the live edge, great work as always :)
The greatest jingle ever made! What's in that ✨️piiillleee✨️
Woodturning is something i really want to do, i hope in another life i can achieve it.
The rings are great
The watch tan line is greater
it, too, tells a life’s story
@@Justinthetrees great minds etc.

beautiful piece. it's freaky how quiet your lathe is, especially with such a chunky piece

Beautiful piece! That tree will live on.
Amazing as always, Justin! I envy your skills and tasteful home decor.
I’d love to see you make an Alaska state and do a food item with fireweed, it’s a huge part of the culture there :)
beautiful!
What an awesome turning brother! I got to try something like that too!
what i needed today honestly, thank you

Such a cool project! Keep it up :)
I would really like to see something made from a Crape Myrtle
please make another video about cork I love cork tree trunks they are so incredible
That’s really beautiful.
I saw the short, so I’m here for the chatoyancy
Very Cool!!!
Waiting for him to say chatoyancy was like holding your breath on the hill of a rollercoaster and then finally he said it!
Beautiful chatoyancy❤
Why are the sounds so satisfying?
This piece really turned out beautifully
Gorgeous
Turned out looking like a chanterelle mushroom!
Wow that is magnificent ❤
No surprise- another beaut! Is it worth trying to use a counterweight when making something non-symmetric like this?
Love your Radiohead shirt that’s one of my favorite bands :)
