I’d love to see you tackle Australian trees! Unlike with European and North American species, these plants evolved for millions of years in isolation and were not commercially grown around the world BUT they will have huge amounts of native uses and importance. The diversity would be spectacular and a great way to show off a very different part of the tree world!
I have a list of states and their trees if interested! QLD - Silky Oak, NSW - Brushbox, ACT - Casurina, VIC - Victorian Ash, TAS - Huon Pine, NT - Red river gum, SA - Blackwood, WA - Jarrah
Same. They are so so hard. I have tried to carve so stuff out of it using sticks from my scribble gum and some other trees near me. For tazzy you should proboably use huen pine.
It means a lot to hear you mention each country individually, especially speaking about Ireland with sensitivity. Most of the time people think the UK is just England. The end result was gorgeous. Also, that wee Isle of Man was adorable.
you keep saying that you've been worried about being an amateur wood worker, but if all I saw from this community were these expertly intricate pieces of art, I'd never have gained an interest or understanding of the craft at all. I really don't think you even have to aspire to create those kinds of pieces. after all, the word amateur comes from the Latin word that means "to love," and to commit to the hardest part of anything, the beginning, you truly have to love it, which is the most important part. if you did not dare to visibly begin, neither would I aspire to begin on my own. thank you for sharing your passions :)
The Yew is also useful. It has anti-cancer properties, was used to make English Longbows and in other Woodworking. It also deters insects and it was planted in Church Courtyards and Cemeteries in order to deter livestock from grazing and doing their business there on the gravesites. The Tree of Death but also the Tree of Rebirth because the branches can actually propagate after detaching from the Tree. It's a very peculiar plant.
Hey, former forestry student and contractor from Scotland. The Scots pine evolved from the Caledonian pine which was the original pine forests your referenced 😊
The Isle of Man is shaped like a sheep dog. The dark mark in the wood is in the perfect spot for his ear. 🤗 I just started watching and your voice an interesting facts about wood and wooden perfect combination. ☺️👍
these are so meaningful to me! i get to see where my family and friends live, all across scotland. i'm glad you took the time and didn't just focus most on england. i love all the intricate edges you have to cut, naturally shaped by the land.
I just found your channel. What a great idea, hope you do the whole world. I'd love to see Germany and Austria, but every piece of wood and every country will look wonderful. Thank you for your inspiration and hard work. ❤️
You should do Iceland and it’s regions next. I also really enjoy your content as it helps me learn about different trees and what you can do with them. I’m from Ireland and I really enjoyed watching this! 🙂
This is a fantastic video! What an amazing project, I was so happy when I saw you had extended your series over the pond. If you wanted to complete it, I'd be happy to give you some tree info about the channel Islands (don't worry, everyone forgets us). You don't need it at all and it'd be tiny on the map. It would just blow my mind to see Jersey and Guernsey on your wonderful wonderful map. Love your stuff man, great positive, wholesome, woody content
As kipling penned, back you must speed for all that you need to oak and ash and thorn. Poor Thorn didn't get a highlight in here but I think you still did a great overview of some of the gorgeous flora of the isles
Man I had to comment on your wonderful love of trees, knowledge on what you love so much and spreading that love to us ....and the images of wonderful landscapes and their histories...ur channel is very unique and wish you all the success you desire brother❤️❤️
Man I was watching all your states wood videos and thinking "it would be so cool to do this with the British Isles" and then this popped up! I screamed. Thanks for putting so much love and care into all your content ❤
It would be cool to see the world in wood, but as separate regions so each country has time to shine! Obviously it may not be possible, but seeing a map of South America, or Africa would be very cool!
I've been doing wood working for a while but you got me inspired to go out and find some wood of my own which I thought wouldn't work where a lived because it mostly just poplar trees but it turned out amazing, so thanks for the inspiration. Also you should try Canada as a map in the future.
Rowan candies are very popular in Finland. Called "kettukarkki" as it has a fox as a symbol, it is also hated by many. One liquor in Finland, Sorbus, was a cheap rowan berry liquor and was popular amonst "professional" drinkers aka hobos.
Suggestion Regions (Bundesländer) of Austria has to include the creeping pince (Pinus mugo) which grows all across the austrian alpes and chequers tree (Sorbus torminalis) as it's fruit a protected traditional ingrediant of lower austria
Dude I love this I’ve loved your content and have always wanted to do the things you’ve done but never had the facilities really but this video showed me how many interesting trees my home has Gonna look out for some pieces and try to begin my wood journey!
Your work is superbly awesome! I love learning about all the different trees and their historical significance, and seeing the differences in grain and hue. I think Australia would be awesome to see because of all the different states, but anything you choose would be a hit. Keep up the good work :)
Absolutely love the videos, just for a ridiculous challenge I would love to see you do the counties of Norway. As somebody who is Norwegian-American and loves woodworking and geography this would be way to cool.
I loved the video! I think you should do the German and Dutch speaking countries. So like Germany (obviously), Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, etc. Hope you have a great rest of the year 😊
I think doing Scandinavia would be pretty cool❤ I'm Danish and and we have so many beautiful forests, just looking out my window I can see horse chestnut, willow, copper beech and pine☺
Reminds me of an oak tree we had out front it wasnt on steady flooring and it was quite large and collasped the nearby wall of the ambulance place next door
Great! i love how it turned out. I was think you could do europe? maybe you could seperate it intoregions like balkan, central, west and scandinavian etc?
* Yay!!! I love all of your new videos. :D I’m starting to get into whittling now and I can’t wait to see what woods I’ll be able to work with and what I’ll make. Thank you for inspiring me !
I have a couple of yews in front of my house. I made a liqueur with the berries. Came out like a really good gin. Fun fact: they're also used extensively in the Pentagon courtyard.
These always remind me of that school project i did in like 10th grade for shop class where i made a world map. Of course my map wasnt as great as his :p i just got 1 big board that the whole map fit on i dont even know what kind of wood it was >~>
I want to see a Germany map of states lol. The history those trees have seen! For the Black Forest in Baden-Wüttemberg there’s soooo many trees to choose from lol

Good shout. The only one I know of is burl and its gorgeous 😍
This should definitely happen! The great land down under with beautifully polished gum, or other wood.
Maybe he could do Australian states and maybe include New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the larger islands like Fiji and new caledonia
I have a list of states and their trees if interested! QLD - Silky Oak, NSW - Brushbox, ACT - Casurina, VIC - Victorian Ash, TAS - Huon Pine, NT - Red river gum, SA - Blackwood, WA - Jarrah

You didn't butcher the Welsh name at all, the double l pronunciation was spot on! Love from Wales! 🏴
You should do Europe next. The microstates of Europe could be donne similar to how you did washington dc.
Yes!
ze middle east next
Europe does not jave microstates they're countries
@@alexandregomes6784 micro states are tiny countries
@@carlose4314 like andorra and monaco?

I love your comment. Thank you, this is a really beautiful way to think about being a beginner. ❤️

What a beautiful work! I was never really much aware of all the different types of trees, but your series makes them shine. Great job!
Ah that's exactly what I love to hear! Thanks for enjoying!
You should do Australian States! So many native trees with so many diverse uses!
This video was awesome! Thanks to you I made a wooden spoon out of a branch I found in my yard! It looks janky, but I'm excited to continue!
I love that! You should see the first spoon I ever carved, haha, janky as hell. Keep it up!
Hey, former forestry student and contractor from Scotland. The Scots pine evolved from the Caledonian pine which was the original pine forests your referenced 😊
I think the caribean vould be an interesting series, yes small islands but largened could showcase some very interesting trees🏝
It's extremely rare for an American with no stake in Ireland to speak so delicately of it's troubled history, even so briefly. Kudos.
The Isle of Man is shaped like a sheep dog. The dark mark in the wood is in the perfect spot for his ear. 🤗 I just started watching and your voice an interesting facts about wood and wooden perfect combination. ☺️👍

The part when you apply wax or oil to the wood is so beautiful. Can't wait to learn woodworking and do this
Da iawn!! Lovely to see us in Wales getting the recognition we deserve.
Also, we forgive your pronunciation :D
I love your work! Keep being committed, keep loving life and nature, and keep being awesome!
Love the videos and so glad that you mentioned Ireland in this and didn't just call it the UK! Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Amazing video as always, great to see you honour the mighty trees here in the UK, keep inspiring brother❤️
I think you should do the Baltic countries, the trees are medieval era and the forests in the three countries are simply beautiful
I am really obsessed with the Baltic states, especially since I'm Estonian-American
Thank you for including Wales! Much love! 🏴
Love Cymru too
I love your maps, but you forgot the Channel Isles.
Occupied by the German Army during WWII, they deserve to be recognized.
You / your channel reminds me of working on summer projects with my dad, maybe that’s why you are one of my favorite RUclipsrs
Man that was perfect peice of wood for Northern Ireland although I wish the different shades were lined up with Derry.
Not from anywhere near britain or ireland but rowan is my favorite tree and I got really excited when I saw it!
I just found your channel. What a great idea, hope you do the whole world. I'd love to see Germany and Austria, but every piece of wood and every country will look wonderful. Thank you for your inspiration and hard work. ❤️

This is great! Loved seeing the different woods than what we are normally used.
Loved the haws in the thumbnail.
Have had haw jelly and Rowan jelly.
Would love to see this map reproduced but at county level.
I'm from Poland and pinus sylvestris is everywhere! I love it because it's a beautiful tree and has a lovely wood.

Well. This is just lovely. My new favourite 'nice thing on the internet'. Thank you for this!
The burren, a limestone landscape in the south of Ireland actually was once covered in native scots pines, however they died out and were reintroduced
Woud love if you did a similar thing with the states of my own country Australia.
Top notch video. Thank you for posting it and sharing all that information. Keep up the good work.
Ireland looks great and the ash was a really nice choice. you should also try out some Irish beech if you want to see some truly beautiful wood

I think an Australian/new Zealand region would be very cool
I have to admit I love yew trees, I just think their so cool. I think they might be one of my favourite trees of all!

I could listen to him listening of tree facts for hours. He also did an amazing job creating the UK, love from England 🏴
Waiting for you to complete the world map and then mars.. 🙌🏻
Hello from the Isle of Man! 🇮🇲
If you wanted to do a world map you could maybe have it down to continents? Maybe pick the trees by what tree range covers the most of the continent?
Please do australia, the rainbow tree would look amazing in a map like this
Beautiful work
This is my families new favorite RUclips channel! Thank you 🙏🏻

Ryan Thompson ? Doesn't sound very Norwegian to me
@@Sqauredcircleboxing "Norwegian-American" just means American lmao
So glad you did the UK 🇬🇧.
It would be great if you could do the UK with all the areas within the UK.
Poor Channel Islands forever forgotten...

This is really fun and educational! You could sell it to schools and botanical societies….best of luck!
If you're taking suggestions, Australia would be really cool tp watch you make regionally!

Great! i love how it turned out. I was think you could do europe? maybe you could seperate it intoregions like balkan, central, west and scandinavian etc?
You should add Jersey, Guernsey, and Alderney, maybe make one of them out of Gorse wood?
Cool to see, I hope you could do Canada next
I'd like to see Japan. You could do the four main islands or add the prefectures too. There's lots of tree species there to choose from.

Europe next would be awesome
I have a couple of yews in front of my house. I made a liqueur with the berries. Came out like a really good gin. Fun fact: they're also used extensively in the Pentagon courtyard.

Using ash for Ireland made me think of Eoin Reardon and his old friend Lindsey Doyle.
You need to make a map of Australia as we have some really nice types of wood
I want to see a Germany map of states lol. The history those trees have seen! For the Black Forest in Baden-Wüttemberg there’s soooo many trees to choose from lol
You should do Canada or Europe next. and have them scale with the us states or the uk and ireland
