Well done Destiny!! Clearly a minefield with the fitting suitability but I’m sure you will get it all sorted. It looks a strong job which I guess reflects the loads possibly carried…on expedition or bring wood home from B&Q! 😀😀😀😀.
Does make a massive difference fitting genuine roof rails/ bars sometimes. Saves all the aggro and you know they fit first time.
We too prefer to sell genuine roof rails now - as you say they do fit better and are well packaged so as a seller we have less issues with damage in transit etc.
I too was disappointed to find the cross bars from my 2020 110 FE wouldn’t fit on my new 90 delivered last Friday. It seems that LR has slightly changed the design of the recovery eye cut outs in the rear bumper as the set of infills I got from you have a different gap on the “big” side of your fillers - they still fit but not as tightly around the cutouts on my new 90 as they did on my now departed 110.
Simon. Could you let me have the details of the electric torque tool you use in this video please. Looks like a great bit of kit.
Interesting the new bolts have the blue lock tight, but the original ones don’t. I’m looking at fitting the lucky8 rooftop light bar or similar (hint hint) but some horror stories online about snapping the welds when releasing the locktight and having to drop the entire roof lining to retighten.
Nicely done - well I’ve made the reverse leap to a Disco4 Landmark but will be tuning in 🙏🤓😎
Fingers crossed that the crank issue does not hit you - i think you will enjoy the space and practicality of the D4... let is know what products we need to make for the D4.
Make sure you consider theft protection / tracking etc.
@@L663 Thanks Simon, first full day out in it yesterday and well, thankfully, really impressed so far. Sat on the lower tailgate overlooking the Surrey hills watching the sun go down. 😊Placed an order with you last night for a few essentials 😅🤓, incl your fancy Fog/DRL kit 👍Couldn’t find a dashcam loom, so currently the nextbase is on the shelf. S5 tracker and immobiliser booked in for this week. This 16 D4 has just turned 22k miles 👍
@@L663 Coincidentally, I am just following a German couple's LR adventures on their RUclips channel 'LR Time'. Presently conducting an engine out repair for a suspect broken crank on a one owner 2017 40K mile SDV6 which they acquired from it's previous private owner having suffered a 'catastrophic engine failure' whilst touring. It appears to be in an immaculate condition and well cared for by all accounts, with the former owners now 'devastated' and mourning the loss of a treasured member of their family. LR Switzerland quoted a repair cost of between Euro 28K-30K for a new engine!
@@rafflesnh I love these guys - would love to visit them...
@@L663 Rather like you, their enthusiasm is infectious!
Hi Simon, great video. Can the roof rails be fitted to the V8? LandRover says the OEM roof Rails are not compatible with the V8 (90 or 110). Any idea why they dont allow this and whether I can just buy some from you and fit them (assuming I don’t drive around Nuremberg at 150mph)? Thanks
I am pretty sure that the bodyshells are the same regardless of engines - this makes sense from a manufacturing point of view. I think the only issue is that the top speed of the V8 is more... i dont think the acceleration is such a factor as the braking forces will probably be greater across all models. My opinion is that as long as you were sensible with the loads fitted and the speed you drove at there is no issue.
Boom Boom!!
Hi Simon
Really good video. How would you suggest if to remove roof rail fixing cover.(six black caps)
Thanks
Hi - sorry i am not 100% clear what you are trying to do - remove the roof rails ?
@@L663 Hi Simon
I have OEM roof rail. I want to remove it to install frontrunner roof rack. I can’t remove 12 bolts, it’s too tight. How should I do?
Thanks
@@scan66 Hi - I have heard these can be difficult and there are stories of the rivnuts inside breaking free and then the bolts just spin ! Try not to use power drivers as these can make the situation worse. I wonder if a manual impact driver may be the best option - with some gentle tapping and twisting ?
I think the thread sealer can bind up in the screw - especially if they are installed with a power driver at the factory / dealer
@@L663 Hi Simon
Thanks for your suggestion.
Please convey my congrats to Bethany for being able to tighten to torque spec without a torque wrench! I wish I could. ;-)
Who's Bethany?
@@muckylugs Whoever is doing the filming. Hearing not so good these days. Is it Destiny? Apologies if any offence caused.
It needs a winch fitting. All that jeopardy yet again!
Yes its Destiny helping and you are of course correct I should have covered the use of the torque wrench... Destiny has worked in the office and said she wanted to help in the workshop so she is the new workshop assistant - you will see more of her over the next few weeks.
Morning Steve - we have just done the video stripping the rear bumper down to replace the silver rear section.... not quite winch video but it did bring back memories !
"X-Type"? (at 0:11) For a moment there I thought I was on the wrong channel!
Well spotted....
