me n my bf are looking to move to memphis too! the renting prices are impossible to beat, we live in Columbus Ohio, and after utilities and stuff we’re paying about 1600 a month for a one bedroom, it’s considered a “luxury apartment complex” and it’s horrible. in Memphis, I can get an apartment slightly bigger for 800 a month! Columbus has shootings and robberies and shit all the time, it’ll be nothing new, I’ve lived here a while, and if you mind your business, nothings gonna happen to yo. nothing has ever happened to me randomly, I’ve stayed in bad areas, a lot of the shit down here is retaliation, not just random murders. seems to be the same down in Memphis to an extent.

What's public transit and walkability/bikeability like?... or is it primarily a car-centric area?
Its for sure primarily car-centric. There are some walkable/bikeable areas like downtown/south bluffs and Midtown, and there is a bus system in the city of Memphis, so its not impossible to get around without a car, but the vast majority of people here depend on a car to get around.
I agree ! They are reckless as all heck with their driving. They all have road rage and many maniacs going at high speeds weaving in and out of lanes. Most dangerous people with their driving and I'm from Chicago 😮. Police need to be on those Interstates more. I now live in Tennessee 2 hrs from Memphis so far enough away from the maniac drivers 😊

True. A couple of things DFW really beats us on is having tons of Traffic and crazy high property taxes. Can't touch y'all on those. Have fun driving across town for 2 hours. ;-)
