I live in Sheffield and I commute to Derby for university, 4 times a week for the past 2 years... I am really impressed. The detail is fantastic, like the lead into belper, clay cross, Sheffield station... wow ! they really did the route justice and I have been wanting this for so long
Thanks for the great well rounded first look Alan, appreciate you getting straight in with it! In terms of the positives, thanks very much for all the kind words in there, very much appreciated,we're still looking to move onward and upward with things but this is hopefully generally speaking a step in the right direction for customers. In response to your points of which I fully agree with all, here are the responses from myself as the dev: Cleanliness at Sheffield (and generally)- Very fair comment and I agree, something maybe for a service pack if we get round to it,exhaust on bridges, canopies,it was pointed out by Alex and testers along with my own inkling, but we had bigger fish to fry unfortunately at the time. Will try and make improvements here in future, asset devs gonna hate me even more but be reet lol Grass - Absolutely agree with the Marmite fact,I much prefer mixing in DTG grass as it breaks it up a bit,but we sadly don't have that option available to us. From an FPS and looks viewpoint I think there's more positives to using the Grass Pack over JT's in house foliage and Kuju stuff. We have got an update for a new grass pack in the future to come but it won't massively change the look (makes it rotation is varied etc and new varieties),so will prob still be a mixed thing. Maybe one day we'll get some proper stuff for the JT library. Assets not making it into CL - Generally this is because Will Stead (employed at JT) makes general buildings straight into CL as he can access in house files, whereas Alex Penfold is external and as such has to do his assets for the MML folder (streamlines building of the route as I can just chuck them into the folder structure, rather than asking JT to put it in CL,then do a new CL "build" for me,time saver essentially. After this release (and maybe after Met too) there's a long list of stuff from Aylesbury,Cornish,MML and Met that needs moving into CL. 222 issues - More a Tom/Rob project but they've got the feedback afaik,FPS issues I agree I think it and the Voyager are actually both sapping FPS tbh. Scenario descriptions - My bad there,I sent some of the wrong wording for the default ones! Track - As you'll know, still on the list of eventual items to be looked at,finding someone able to do it right, with the time to do it right isn't proving easy, going to put some feelers out in the next few months a bit more, see what can be done. Once again thanks for the video and I'll keep my eye out for further ones to see what we can try and take on board for the future. Top stuff. Mark
i guess im randomly asking but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Dakari Luca Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
There are men and women out there who spend a great deal of time creating worlds for me to go and enjoy. I appreciate there work. I couldn’t care less about a staircase the wrong way round. Missing catenary wire. Or the shade used for the colour of the grass. As long as it looks like a Station and feels like a Station it’s good enough. Simulation. Thank You for making this video and for showcasing the creativity of the people who make these worlds.
I make assets and jeez yes they do take alot of time and alot of effort due to the sheer amount of steps needed to produce just 1 asset! Great video btw
Just come across your channel after finally getting a laptop which can run the game nicely and really enjoying it. Informative and I think it's great just the amount of videos and content you show. Your doing a great job keep it up
Looks great, they've done brilliant work on Sheffield Station too. I can nearly see my place of work behind Ponds Forge too. As a non-PC player, I'd pay good money to see this on TSW.
If there is one thing that would make it better, it’s the mast on the hill to the right of the track as you travel from Chesterfield towards Dronfield. It’s quite a landmark so to me it was weird to not see it there. Not a big deal admittedly but it would be a nice touch. That aside, it’s brilliant and I know where I am when I’m on this.
I personally like the grass but not some of the trasnitions between various types, like you said its marmite. Route looks incredibly detailed though so it is a yes to purchase for me
I'm quite disappointed in this route. While Sheffield and Derby might be nicely modelled, when you get further down route, or to Matlock, the scenery density is poor. Anyone else noticed this. . .
Yes, I've seen it around the Nottingham-Derby area, not sure if it's been down Bedford/London way because it's only a 4 car unit. Caught it on a Leicester to Lincoln service and the interior is still pretty much EMT.
is it safe to buy from justtrains.net as I don't know the website. I would usually buy from i well know site such as the steam store but it's not on there ???
Just Trains is safe, I have bought from there many times. Some of Just Trains items are on Steam. Class 222, ECML newcastle to edinburgh are some of the JT's on the steam store.
@@AlanThomsonsim heh heh, dull purple colour the sort of shade preferred by your granddad. If the train was pink would you have said that it was preferred by someone gay? Anyway, I was only pulling your leg because it's the sort of criticism that you would get from the current batch of snowflakes.
About time as we are paying for these items, why they feel to release half cant be bothered work and expect us to pay for it is questionable. Shame really as I liked TS

As someone who lives in sheffield i reckon i’d spend more time exploring the city than actually driving the train

Cheers mark it’s a good job mate I am enjoying it

@Dakari Luca It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass :D
Now we just need the Derby - Bedford section and then... a merge! :)
Just bought this in the steam sale and all the track is missing :( first ever time I've experienced this with any dlc.
I'm getting this for Christmas. Can't wait
As someone from Sheffield its always good to see my hometown represented

I travel on the MML from London - Sheffield quite regularly, such an underrated route
Hi alan i love the midland mainline i travel on it nearly every day from Sheffield to derby and keep making vidoes
I make assets and jeez yes they do take alot of time and alot of effort due to the sheer amount of steps needed to produce just 1 asset! Great video btw

Josh is indeed very impressed! :P
12:11 in the trees is a park and a good place for spotting
Millhouses?
@@Aviation-Aaron yes surprisingly
Thanks for another honest review Alan, think i will invest in this route.
I live in Sheffield. Very close to the station in fact. Norfolk Park. I have been waiting for something like this. The station look near exact.

They deadass recycled a highrise from Cardiff to stand in for St Pauls Tower like we wouldn't notice lol

The assets are lovely
i live in chesterfield and the station is very accurate
Amazing bang on like Sheffield as it is in real life awesome from a guy from Sheffield
Personally I really like the look of the new 222
me too, not seen it in person yet but hopefully soon i will
Just wait until the new 804s in 2022
Love That Derby Is Now In Train Sim Fantastic Can't Wait To Get It.
Great video good to see Derby is now in train sim I'm not sure if it was in before
there is a version of it in Birmingham 2010 route but its not that good tbh
Great route Alan, thankyou for sharing ☺
Useful for me, Sheffield is being used on my route.
31:48 That's Ambergate. They've made a pretty good job of that. The bridges are a little high, but that's all.
Ayyy Derby is my home town
Great thumbnail Alan and good line
+could you do another north Clyde line video soon
I am sure it’s on my list keep your eyes peeled
Alan Thomson thanks can’t wait
Why so many trees? So close to the line, and so tall. Just trains routes seem to all resemble a green tunnel. Other than that, I quite like it.
be surprised how many are like that IRL
They should script in the blue and purple tram
I'm quite disappointed in this route. While Sheffield and Derby might be nicely modelled, when you get further down route, or to Matlock, the scenery density is poor. Anyone else noticed this. . .
I got this of just trains no instructions to help to put in what folders could you pls give me some info thx
Does it come with the AP trains? Kind of a dunce question but there’s no scenario requirements on the page on just trains
Not at all mate no question is stupid I think you can download the manual from the JT site that will have the requirements in it for each scenario
@@AlanThomsonsim Oh I found it, thank you very much!
So just how DO you switch the damn AWS isolator off - it's driving me mad (I mean isolate it altogether)
love your vids @alanthomson
Cheers mate
Hello Alan great vid are you going to review the new tsw rhein oston dlc or what ever its called it looks good thanks mate
i am glad you noticed the grass that is used in Just Trains routes, i have never liked it from day one.
Question... Does it all integrate with the Steam game?
yes mate flawlessly
Alan Thomson what are your PC specs
is that the official new livery for the EMR trains now because I live in Bedford and never seen it before
Yes, I've seen it around the Nottingham-Derby area, not sure if it's been down Bedford/London way because it's only a 4 car unit. Caught it on a Leicester to Lincoln service and the interior is still pretty much EMT.
TR673 It has, 222104 is now usually paired with other units, like 017. It was usually on the Corby route prior to repaint.
is it safe to buy from justtrains.net as I don't know the website. I would usually buy from i well know site such as the steam store but it's not on there ???
Just Trains is safe, I have bought from there many times.
Some of Just Trains items are on Steam. Class 222, ECML newcastle to edinburgh are some of the JT's on the steam store.
Hi whats this sim called
how did he get the guy saying that was that a pre record or is that inbuilt
hi, could you tell me where i can find this add on?
thanks
Yeah, I really want it, I'm on ps4
So you're ageist now?
Pardon?
@@AlanThomsonsim heh heh, dull purple colour the sort of shade preferred by your granddad. If the train was pink would you have said that it was preferred by someone gay? Anyway, I was only pulling your leg because it's the sort of criticism that you would get from the current batch of snowflakes.
Oh lol 😂
are you in a shed? xD
I believe he still is, yes. "outbuilding"
Yes mate keeps me away from the wife and kids lol
Sheds are a husband's best friend 😅
how do you pause the scenario like that
You press the pause break key if your on a laptop you may have to press fn plus the pause break key
Alan Thomson thank you
I’m from Sheffield
Same here
About time as we are paying for these items, why they feel to release half cant be bothered work and expect us to pay for it is questionable. Shame really as I liked TS
Sheffield trams
You better not have to pay for the routes that’s fucked if you do
Whilst there is a lot of freeware routes these would not be able to be made without payware routes unfortunately
24.99 for 36 miles .... no thanks
i'll take quality over quantity any day personally
2nd
Not good value for money,
