Just started making this shawl and the pattern is really a lot of fun, especially as someone new to lace knitting. Once I did a few rows I had the repeat committed to memory, so it’s interesting and fun enough not to be boring, but simple enough that I don’t have to constantly refer to a chart or pattern. Looking forward to the final result! Thanks!

Thank you, for the pattern, the positivity, and the video closeups! This video (which I thought I didn't need) showed me that no, I'm not knitting my yarnovers too tightly - I was doing them backwards! Oops! Not sure where along the line I reversed them but now I know why my lace attempts have been less-than-impressive! LOL (And NimbleNeedles has a video that clarified for me that reverse yarnovers don't make eyelets.) I'm only maybe 3" into this shawl but I think I might leave it as is at least long enough to get some pictures to show the difference.

@@roelenecarleton2550 We do that by using switching the yarn as we work the project. Each of the skeins in the kit are dyed so that the finished color of your project will be a gradient. Have you downloaded the full written instructions of this pattern yet? You can find it here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/palette.html

Hi Caroline, thanks for your message. I'll do my best to help. I'd actually work it very similar to the shawl but do a provisional CO and cast on 12 stitches to make it approximately 2 inches wide. Once it's long enough to fit your head connect your live stitches with the provisional CO via Kitchener Stitch. No need to work in the round. I hope this makes sense. Have a lovely day! 💜

Hello again Chandi! I really appreciate your easy knit patterns for shawls, but wow!!... That is a lot of stitches to put on the needles! Is this the only amount to put on for this shawl, or is there an alternative? Could you let me know? I understand that you cast on multiples of 4 though. Thank you again! You're a very nice and wonderful teacher, and delightful!

Yes, you can do any multiple of 4 and that would work. If you want it a little thinner, you could cast on something like 80 and see how that works for you. ❤️

Hi. Downloaded your pattern. Thanks for posting it. I haven’t mastered using circular needles and I know they’re best for long pieces like this shawl but your pattern shows #8 US needles. Can I assume I can use straight needles as long as they’re long enough? I have 14 inch straights. If ok to use by how much would you shorten the cast on stitches ? Down to 60 or 80 or can I do the full 120? Also can you talk about joining yarn methods? Thanks.

Yes, if your straights are long enough, you can definitely do this pattern. You can shorten the cast on by multiples of 4, which would make the pattern thinner. We do have a video on how to do the Russian join here: ruclips.net/video/9Axj8DIr1LQ/видео.html But we can certainly do a video on joining methods. Thanks for all of the insightful questions.

I just happened onto your video, first of all you are so uplifting comments it made my evening. I do have one question though the 120 stitches you cast on do they increase as you go or does the pattern stay the same 130 stitches throughout?

Thank you for the kind words! They stay the same throughout the pattern. ☺️

Hi, having trouble making this. My ends look different. I added more co because I want it to be at least 32” approx. from neck to lower back. Maybe it doesn’t work fur 180 or 186 cast on? Any advice? I still want to make one but I switched to the mother of pearl pattern.
