  • Hey, my beauty.
    This shawl design is inspired by my first home: Alaska.
    Winters in Alaska can be brutal. Extremely dark and cold and often very isolated and lonely. But when you make it through and the lakes begin to break up, the snow starts to melt, the sun gets higher and higher in the sky each day... Ahhhh. It's a time of transition and hope and excitement for the spring and summer ahead!
    This Melting Transitions wrap is designed to mimic that feeling of hope and renewal.
    I hope you enjoy the tutorial. You can download it here: www.expression...
    We used our Melting Hues Alpaca Silk Dk yarn which drapes galore and has a beautiful sheen to it. I love this yarn for shawls and sweaters! www.expression...

    Chandi, I adore your ‘creation’ stories as much as I do your beautiful patterns. It’s not so much finding a project to make, it’s creating a story with lovely fibers … making heirlooms. Thank you and Tim for blessing us with inspiration ❤️

    Being a beginner at knitting I didn't think I would be able to do different stitches and I didn't even know there were so many different stitches used in knitting but watching this video and knitting along with you with each step I think I can do this. The yarn over got me a little confused but now I know it's just another way of adding a stitch. You seem to be such a sweet and kind person on the inside with a soft voice with patience that makes you not only a great teacher but the beautiful woman that you are on the outside. Thank you, Chandi for teaching this old dog some new tricks thanks Tim for helping to make these videos, Chandi brings the smiles and you add the laughter adding all this together makes so many people feel warm inside and puts smiles on all our faces

    Living in and experiencing Alaska is so special that most people long for it even when when they leave. I hear the longing when you talk about your time living here. It’s like we’re part of a special club, we have seen darkness, but also experienced such hope and beauty, and survived conditions we never thought we could. I love the patterns and tutorials you share, they are making me a better knitter.

      I have watched the different television shows of families that live in Alaska and the hard work they do just to survive in this beautiful big huge place I know there is mo way a person like me who has lived in Ohio all my life there is no way I could live isolated like they do and do the hard work they do just to live and eat.

    If you wanted to change the length and width (to make it more of a throw/square shape) how would you do that?! I would really like to try making this pattern that way!

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  3 года назад +1

      To change the width, you just have to cast on an odd number greater than 19. to change the length, knit however many wedges you would like! I hope this helps. 😊

      @@ExpressionFiberArts Beautiful pattern as always. Thank you. So the minimum addtional stitches to cast on to make the wedge wider is 21, right?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  3 года назад

      @@jackielin4864 The repeat is not 21 sts. It just needs to be at least 21 sts but if the co number is that or greater, it can be any odd number. :) I hope that helps!

    I have a ‘knitty’ request!
    Could someone please direct or assist me in finding a pattern to make a very tiny doll shawl like this? I have made a regular triangle shawl but the tapered ends aren’t long enough to get around the front and tied. I would appreciate any assistance!

      Just try the pattern with a 0 needle & lace weight yarn. (and narrower)
      My mom used to knit dresses for my barbie when I was a child, I wish I still had those....she used lace or fingering & DPN's. But that was over 1/2 century ago! (I DO have those DPN's!!)

      Hi there, thank you for your question. Have you downloaded the full written instructions from our website yet? You can find them here with all the info on the design: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/melting-transitions.html
      There more rows included in the repeat as Chandi mentions in the video, so I'd definitely download the full instructions.
      I hope this answers your question. Have a great day! 🩷

      Hi there, thank you for your message. I'm happy to help.
      Have you downloaded the complete written instructions from our website yet? You can find the pattern here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/melting-transitions.html
      For the cast on you will need at least 19 sts but you can adjust the width by casting on any odd number of stitches greater than 19.
      I hope that helps. Enjoy! 😍
