    What a fab tutorial! Your energy is super engaging and I have a great appreciation for it. The pattern recommends a size 7 needle. I have a 6 circular and debating if that would be too small. My gauge comes out about 24 in 4 inches.

      I think that it should be fine. (This is why I love shawls.. a little more leeway on things like gauge). It might be a little bit smaller, but if you like the look of it, I say go for it! 💕💕

    I find it looks much nicer when you are picking up stitches from the side of the tab to either pick them up from the bump or the bars between stitches, be consistent, instead of all Willie nilly like you did, sometimes knitting through 2 stitches instead of only one, it does show in the finished product and experienced knitters will spot this straight away. That's all..

      @@ExpressionFiberArts Thanks so much for answering. I’ve not been knitting for long, but I’ve so many ideas with no clue how to read patterns. I’m planning for that braid to have 5 stitches in each strand of the braid, and then a YO on each side of the braid. How many stitches will i need to cast on, and do i increase at the start of the row or before the YO? I think this will need a three-sided cast on? Great channel, BTW! Looking forward to the next post.

      @@AntoinetteKeenan I'm honestly not sure as they would be a different pattern but I would try a few small swatches to see what you get, how it lays, etc, before making the full item. • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  3 года назад +1

      Great question! You wouldn't be picking up stitches. You simply change colors when you come to the border and continue knitting the pattern. I hope this helps! 😍

    • @pickingstitchescrafts
      @pickingstitchescrafts 3 года назад

      @@ExpressionFiberArts so would you start the border after the garter tab cast on? If so, after the one inch border how are the shawl stitches incorporated into the border?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  3 года назад +1

      @@pickingstitchescrafts The border is a continuation of the pattern using a different stitch. We just called it a border because we used a different color. So, you would knit the 'body' of the shawl until it is as big as you like. All of the stitches would still be on your needles. You would then grab a secondary color (if you would like) and knit the 'border' does that make sense?
