Not would, but definitely could. Just restocked on wedges in October. That grind does look a lot like my 58 degree S23 X-grind that I love, just with a bit more welcoming surface area. Just like the one in your video, it hardly raises the leading edge when opened fully
@iLovettGolf The only area I am brand snobbish is my wedges. Every high end wedge is great, I just like my Cleveland. I never heard of those wedges you mentioned, I'm gonna look em up. May you find all the fairways good sir!!
Just tried out a 50* CBX Fullface 2 today. On a full shot with a titleist AVX it went as straight as a dart landed past the pin and ripped back 15 feet, with wind behind. yowzer😮 As you saw too, half my ball was still stuck in the grooves 😬
I played clones of Cleveland wedges for 10 years, then decided to go for a year-old set of real CBX Full face. All I can say is "Wow!!" The spin is fantastic and my playing buddies cannot believe how quickly the ball stops.
Cleveland are a very underrated brand with some excellent products. Their Launcher XL driver is actually a real performer. If I needed to upgrade my irons or wedges this year, Cleveland would definitely be on the short list.
Apart from the pitching wedge and gap wedge that came with my set I only use a Cleveland cbx full face 2 56 degree wedge. It is so easy to play a wide variety of shots with I don’t need a lob wedge. Having less wedges has improved my short game. Another great review 👍
I live in the sunny southern California high desert, and I can't recall one time where the sun reflecting off a shiny club has ever been a problem. Is it even a real thing. 🤔
As a 24 handicap mature (🤣) golfer I’ve only been using recently purchased stealth PW & SW. It would be interesting to see what, if any improvement to my game these type of wedges would make.
Great review. I’ve only owned and played one sand wedge in my life. It’s a Wilson Staff 56 degree with 10 degree of bounce. However, a few months ago I acquired a Cleveland 588 RS Recovery Sole 60 degree wedge. I only had a few weeks to practice with it before winter set in. My early impression of this wedge is very positive. It is very easy to play a flop shot with this wedge. It feels like 13:42 you can hit it up an elevator shaft. It stops, not on a dime, but very quickly.
If partial shots show bits of ball flaking on the grooves, I feel a fuller type shot could inflict some significant damage on your golf ball. The high spin grooves could also limit your ability on bump and runs or other shots requiring lower spin such as bump and runs which a well rounded 54 degree should be able to do. I applaud Cleveland for all the features of the 54 of my dreams but I have a hard time getting past the damage and limitation aspects of these grooves at this point.
The Cleveland wedges are awesome. I've been playing them for 10+yrs. I'm currently playing the RTX full face 52 9deg. bounce, 54 10deg. bounce, and sand wedge 10deg. bounce, and I will be buying the ones you showed in this video. Thanks for the review.
I’d never had a short game aside from my putting. I’d tried most things - Callaway, various Cleveland’s etc nothing felt any good or worked. Then last year, playing with my son and having another short game mare, he passed me one of his Vokey’s…oh blimey, suddenly I was landing on the dance floor and getting close. I could feel where the head was during the swing and my confidence grew. I think it might be their heavier swing weights, but whatever it is I got it. I’ve now a set of SM9’s. I’m sure these Cleveland’s are great if you have a decent short game, but for those of us that don’t, Vokey’s are hard to beat.
Gamed Cleveland 588 Tour Action wedges for years. Replaced with Ping Glide 4.0's (50,56) and a Ping Glide Forged 60/8 when they got too worn. Going back to Cleveland RTX Fullface2 60/8. 60 my primary bunker club. As noted looks incredible when you lay it open.
Still gaming my 56* 588 Tour Action wedge which I inherited from an uncle! I've recently switched my remaining wedges to the CBX Zipcore from my previous RTX's. Best decision ever.
I wish you guys would let us know the gram weight ! To me that’s really important you can Bragg on this new thing. I need to no the weight so I know the swing feel!?!?
As far as I am aware the grooves on any wedge play no part in the spin imparted on the ball during a bunker shot as there is a cushion of sand between the club face and the ball when it is struck. I was always under the impression that technique, lie, bounce, sand type and ball construction were the factors that influenced spin on a bunker shot. I often see RUclips videos where it is suggested or implied that the groove technology has an effect on the bunker shot, though not implicitly in this video. Is this the case or am I missing something?
I bought the previous model RTX Zipcore full face 56 degree for $50 off. I play a set Pitching wedge and a 56 only. Takes the decisions out of play for the most part. I can't speak for the wedge yet, but it looks good to my eye, and forgiving.
GAP wedge is my go-to short club, and far superior at pitching into the wind than a 56 yet far superior over a hazard/onto a downslope than a PW… highly recommend getting involved to lower score (and those shots are fun as well) ❤ if you get a different bounce to your SW it will add turf condition playability as well (one will be better in the rough & if it’s wet / one better on tight lies / hard ground) if you’re good with distance control with your current setup anyway (I assume you are) then an additional option will tighten your dispersion nicely and you will get up and down more often 🎉
Always love Cleveland wedges started with the 588 in black. Right now,I game a set of TaylorMade ftx (2012). But thinking about getting a new set, as they're not conforming anymore. I also had blacked out 52* Willson at one point, that one was crazy spinny with boxed grooves back in the days. However, every time you say: Come here, look at these grooves, or this shape, or something like that, the image is either out of focus, or over saturated, so I really have no clue how the face looks up close. 😂 Anyway, I'll definately look into these (hopefully they'll do a blacked out version of these).
Brilliant video Alex, I was only saying the other day, that I wanted a full face 60° wedge to replace my very old Mizuno Faldo tour proven wedge, one of these could be just the tool.
@HowGoodGolf well you convinced me, I ordered one yesterday afternoon !! Imagine my surprise when it arrived this morning!! Not only that, but when I unboxed it I saw the bounce was 8° so I'm double happy. #itsallyourfault, 😉😁
I honestly think high toe wedges are a gimmick, how often is your ball getting anywhere near those grooves? Never like to be negative on RUclips comments, and I love your honesty on the reviews, but every single new wedge spins fresh out the box, and will rip the skin off the ball… the real test is what they do after a few rounds, so maybe come back to this test 👀 Cleveland make great wedges though.
Great video mate, I'm in the market for new wedges, will go give these a swing sometime. Tried the ping glide 4.0, the spin on those...sheesh! Oh, btw, thanks for Phillips mate⚒️
Every pro in early 90's roumded out their bag with the Cleveland Tour Action 588 wedges. ERNIE was their main star. He still plays with their wedges then Callaway came along and other big brands like Titleist started to edge Cleveland out of the market. imho Taylormade make the best wedges and Woods and Ping and Callaway make the best irons. For some reason Ive never wanted to play with Titleist wedges although they are very good. I play Yamaha woods and irons now and will never give up my Taylormade Hi Toe 3's hamds down the best wedges ive ever had. But yeah, this was a great review and this wedge is awesome.
year 2000 cleveland wedge dominate the pga tour. now not very popular. vokey and taylor wedge most use in pga, this one like tm hi toe wedge , but much cheaper of course
I have last year’s RTX Zipcores. I’m definitely a Cleveland wedge guy. Great wedges and much less expensive than the bigger brands. They spin just as much as the big boys!
*What do you think of the HIGH TOE wedge? Would you game it?*
Absolutely, I was a Vokey guy until last summer. I was turned on to the Taylormade Hi-Toe 3 with the raw face and will never use anything else.
Not would, but definitely could. Just restocked on wedges in October. That grind does look a lot like my 58 degree S23 X-grind that I love, just with a bit more welcoming surface area. Just like the one in your video, it hardly raises the leading edge when opened fully
Sorry....but not everyone thinks Vokey. Cleveland has been incredibly popular for a very very long time.
I never ever think of any wedge unless it is a Cleveland. If you know, you know
Absolutely agree
Absolutely agree
Try some bettinardis mate… definite class-up in feel

They look stunning!!
Just replaced a callaway sureout2 and jaws md5 with Cleveland cbx2 full face. Can't wait to try them on course.
I'm switching from Jaws MD5 to RTX6
Just tried out a 50* CBX Fullface 2 today. On a full shot with a titleist AVX it went as straight as a dart landed past the pin and ripped back 15 feet, with wind behind. yowzer😮 As you saw too, half my ball was still stuck in the grooves 😬
I'm thinking about a CBX in 50 and 54 and a bladed 58. Do you think the CBX has enough spin for a 54° wedge?
I would get these. But I got new cleveland rtx6 wedges last year and they still got a life in them. I hit them 3x a week and are holding up excellent.
They will last for years .
I've got all Cleveland CBX wedges. Love them.
I played clones of Cleveland wedges for 10 years, then decided to go for a year-old set of real CBX Full face. All I can say is "Wow!!" The spin is fantastic and my playing buddies cannot believe how quickly the ball stops.
Great video. I have last years full face wedges in 54 and 58 and they are brilliant. Made the short game a lot easier. I've chipped in loads of times
I game Cleveland zipcore 56 and 60 degree wedges. I love them. This high toe full face looks even more forgiving!
True!
Cleveland are a very underrated brand with some excellent products. Their Launcher XL driver is actually a real performer. If I needed to upgrade my irons or wedges this year, Cleveland would definitely be on the short list.
As my PW is 38 degrees thinking of getting CBX in 44 degrees and RTX in 52 and 58 . Do you think that would blend ?
Cleveland has had amazing wedges for a long time spin is crazy

Yeah it’s a great club!
I use the Cleveland CBX full face 2 wedges 54 and 58 degrees
What aftermarket shaft would you put in these wedges? Something that would work for hitting 3/4 knock downs into the wind.
I’m not 100% sure to be honest!

I have the older RTX black Sw. I like all Cleveland clubs. Can you test the Cleveland Irons,

Will do 🙌🏼

I have a 56 (12B) Zipcore Raw and a 58 Fullface… depending on the weather i take one or the other. Next to those i have a 52 and a 48. Love them!

I've been using Vokeys for the last 2 years. But the Callaway Opus is calling to me. These Cleveland full face seem amazing
Cleveland has always been my favorite wedge brand. Have 3 Cleveland wedges in my bag right now. ⛳️

Been looking at these for awhile, thanks for the great video 👏😊
Besides my std PW (45) and SW (56), what other wedges would you recommend for a senior, high handicapper?
Love your vids on all 3 channels Alex.
Thank you! I loved the cleveland wedges , super forgiving and versatile… thanks for the support across the channels i appreciate it ❤️🙌🏼

Playing cleveland CBX2 54 and 58 the best I have ever played. Very playable and consistent. Love the channel keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
I play the previous version and they are awesome.
I love my full face wedges. I want them in black for my next set.
I use callaway jaws 54 and takomo 60

I have this wedge, wife gave to me 2 years ago, not new, but definitely a fantastic wedge!

i'm using the full face and for me it's the best wedge.
test the new Cleveland Driver Launcher XL 2 .please !
Niceee!
Nice video I bought the full face sand wedge best thing I ever did for my wedge game
Great wedges, have a look at Wilson too

The best wedges out there. Full face with low bounce is the best.

Hi Alex, I’ve been using Cleveland wedges for years. Probably started with their CG14’s but now using a 54 & 58 CBX 2 full face. Love them 😊
Played Cleveland wedges from day 1, wouldn't play anything else. Purchased a full face wedge to try it out when I start playing this year.
Best wedges out there IMO
year 2000 cleveland wedge dominate the pga tour. now not very popular. vokey and taylor wedge most use in pga, this one like tm hi toe wedge , but much cheaper of course
Vokey all the way cannot beat feel and the look. That's why their number 1 titleist their is only one !
Nothing spins like a Smithworks wedge
The taylormade Hi-Toe 3 full face with the raw face is the best on the market.
Need to get a tetanus shot every 6 months with those wedges 😂
@@JDDD33 I'm literally addicted to those wedges.
Titleist and Cleveland have always been the market leaders in wedges. Taylormade has caught up though.

I have last year’s RTX Zipcores. I’m definitely a Cleveland wedge guy. Great wedges and much less expensive than the bigger brands. They spin just as much as the big boys!
