- Two people are dead after a horrific crash involving an attempted hit-and-run driver Thursday in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities confirmed to KTLA. Omar Lewis reports for KTLA 5 News at 10, Mar. 28, 2024.

In area where I live, an 18 year old killed 4 people and seriously injured 4 others when he slammed into parked car. He was going over 100 mph in a 40 mph zone and the mom killed was picking up several children from a homeschool event. The kicker is that same kid was involved in 2 previous sccidents which were speed related, the cops let him go and the parents knew he had a problem with speeding and didn't seem to care. He is currently in jail. smh

We usually don't lock people up for life on a first arrest. Saying that the kid was "involved" in other accidents is not the same thing as saying he CAUSED the other accidents, is it?

The driver is being charged with 2 counts of murder, but it being California more than likely the diver won't do any time

Those UPS trucks are big and heavy AF! To hit one that hard and move and position it the way it was is beyond crazy.
Rear ending one of those things is a good way to meet god. I met teamster the was at a stop sign and a lady rear ended the package car he was driving at about 50mph or so. I could tell he didn't like telling the story so I can't imagine she faired too well. Can't even do our damn job these days

Blame speed but not criminal behavior. That’s the problem, no one’s gets held accountable and there is no punishment for theirs crimes.
There needs to be a government mandate to limit the speed of cars to 50 miles per hour. Nobody has the “right” to drive above 50mph. The govt can create a new tax to build and install a device to limit a vehicles speed and they can charge people to buy it and also charge an annual service fee. Vote blue no matter who 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🦧✊🏿🍌

Crazy how drug influence is not being emphasized on this case. They found drug paraphernalia in there and of course the driver was impaired. Drugs are being tolerated too much nowadays.
Plenty of people follow the speed limit and try to be safe when impaired. Reckless driving is a mindset that typically comes with being young and dumb.

I remember here in NWI there was a police chase on i94.... The boyfriend was the driver with his gf and infant baby.
Hit the back of a flatbed 18 wheeler, decapitating the gf and baby died too, but he survived.
If no other previously deadly accident has convinced people not to speed, this will do no difference.

I exist at Arlington from the 10 fwy at least once a week. That street is narrow and at that time of day, there is only one lane each way. I'm amazed that the driver was able to get to that speed. @ 2:12 (just south of Adams) there is a pretty steep decline going south and you almost have to ride your breaks down to avoid going too fast downhill. That was an extremely careless and thoughtless driver who deserves every nanosecond in jail that they give him.

Witnesses were able to apprehend and secure the suspect until police arrived. Police were able to scrape him off the pavement and secure him in a locked bucket.

It’s horrible that these get talked about like it is an isolated issue. People are speeding all over the city on streets and freeways. Stops signs are only useful for people who already follow laws. More stop signs and speed bumps only slow down people going the speed limit.

3 people in the speeding car, both passengers died, driver survived and was then captured when attempting to flee.
Yes, you are the only one confused by this. There were 3 people in the car. The two passengers died and the driver ran on foot, it’s not rocket science.
@durrrrl3435 i know what happened, within the first 13 seconds they never said that there were 3 people in the car. They only said that 2 people that died. And one of them ran away. The way that is worded, it sounds like one of the 2 dead people ran away. Only later did they say that it was the passengers of speeding car that died and that a 3rd passenger/driver fled the scene. All they said in the beginning is that 2 people died, no other context was provided.
I never take Arlington ave since I witnessed horrible driver to damage at least 7 cars and driving crazy almost hit me as well. It was horrible and there was no way to move anyway or escape because the street is very narrow. So I only take crenshaw instead but never Arlington because of idiots like this one !

You can diminish speeders if we put sensors on every traffic light so when you speed they send you a ticket in the mail no need to get pulled over. Needless to say, people will get there license suspended quite often.
