Loved ones remember victims killed in South L.A. DUI crash

- Loved ones are devastated after a DUI driver violently slams into a UPS truck, killing two people in South Los Angeles. A vigil was held Friday night to remember the two victims.
The deadly crash happened on March 28 near Arlington Avenue and 29th Street in the Jefferson Park neighborhood just before noontime. The male driver of a speeding black BMW sedan rear-ended a parked UPS truck. The violent impact sent the sedan airborne before it collided with several oncoming cars and cars parked on the street.
A female in the front passenger seat and a male in the backseat were both ejected from the BMW. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect driver tried running away from the scene after the crash but was captured by good Samaritans who had witnessed the collision.

I lived on Arlington when I was a child. There is a hill that starts on Adams, it used to be called Arlington double dip but they evened the street. It seems that now people speed going downhill because before you had to slow down because of the dip in the street. Rest In Peace 🙏🏻

What this guy is saying is that there in never any talk of banning alcohol now and there isn't. Even if they banned alcohol it'd make it even more valuable and then history would repeat itself.

Very likely didn't have a seat belt. They look like the types that would find no seat belts and drunk driving "kewl," like they didn't pay attention in school when they were told the dangers of that. I normally stayed away from people like that.

Wow this is beyond sad. People, especially young people learn to choose your friends wisely! There’s been countless times where I have decided to Uber,take the bus, walk, instead of getting in a vehicle with an intoxicated driver. Many times that one minute decision can have consequences of a lifetime. Life is too short & beautiful to take it for granted. I’m just 21 years old but can say I’m the only one who has made out of my group of friends, many are in jail, others 6ft below ground.
WOW! For a 21 year old, you seem to have a head on your shoulders. Good for you. Keep thinking this way, and you will live many happy years.
This is particularly sad because it sounds like at least one of the passengers was terrified rather than enjoying it. It makes you wonder how many times passengers have been criticized as complicit idiots when really they were the opposite, powerless and fearful. R.I.P.

Seriously!……This day and age, there’s no damn excuse to be drinking and driving. It’s not like none of these people are driving exotic or high line cars and leaving them in ghetto neighborhoods, they can catch a ride share vehicle and pick up their vehicle the next day. Worse case scenario, pay a parking or impound ticket but at least they’ll be alive to pick it up the next day.🤦♂️

Why do people get in the car with drunk folks? It's no way I would drive drunk or allow someone I love drive drunk. My husband was almost killed by a drunk driver that hit him head on and this driver had been cited 7 other times for driving drunk. Drunk driving is one of the most preventable accidents. So sorry for these young people!

DUI penalty is a joke in the US, that's why people are still doing it. If the penalty is life for a life, or decades in prison, pretty sure people will think twice before they act the fool.

You're absolutely right. It's especially bad here in Vegas. The drunk that hit my husband had been cited 7 times prior to her hitting my husband head on. The consequence need to be more severe as drunk driving is preventable
