- Videos obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators show troopers investigating and discussing the fatal crash involving the CEO of Lee’s Discount Liquor, who police said was driving with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit before colliding head-on with a pickup truck.
Imagine that, a liquor store owner driving drunk
Watch out for drunk lizards if you're in the area.
Kind of like a McDonalds or a Krispy Kreme store owner driving way too fat.
@@darylsmioth1904 Or just walking around looking like a blimp 😆

No sympathy for drunks of any kind. All they do is kill the innocent. Drug users i feel the same way!!!

-On the news they said those 2 people will be fine. They were real lucky That's for sure.
@@auggie803 Cheers! 🍻

Payday they were hit by a drunk driver who owned a multiple chain the liquor stores payday that's all I got to say. daddy's getting a new Corvette
At least he didn’t kill anyone else.
Prayers go out to the injured.🙏🙏
No, but think of the Tequila! My heart breaks
No he just permenantly injured them🙏🙏
It’s a worry that we are sharing the roads with these individuals every day
Be sharp out there
If you suspect a driver is drunk, call 911 or you local non-emergency number. It makes a difference!
Have been before you were thought of unfortunately 😔
I moved to Arizona and noticed it quite a bit. Wrong way signs and fines all over and still there are t-bones and weaving cars. I drive slower with a cushion to get the heck outta the way, but still aggressive. I kinda don't like the idea of riding a motorcycle around a combo of the elderly and the alcoholic either; rampant errors at twilight hours motivate for a new hobby. Best of luck avoiding bumper cars, and don't be afraid to shame a drunk out of driving.
And I hear people complaining all the time about harsh DUI laws. I say double or triple the punishment
I never feel bad for people who drink, drive and die. You get what you deserve. I hope the innocents were ok.
I feel sorry for the innocent victims in the other vehicles the drunk driver and/or distracted driver hits. In many cases just being in the wrong place at the wrong time can destroy your life and the life of families and friends when drivers drink and drive. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE ! ! !
I’m shocked the drunk passed and the victims all survived.
Boozecuisers lost another one 😔🫡
Careful what you wish for .
I agree with you but usually they kill others. They always feel so terrible after they kill people but they never thought to do anything about it before hand. The driving drunk is a willful act of murder when they kill others.
Why would you make a point of saying how much the alcohol is worth?
At least this is a story where the responsible person for the crash is the only one that checked out.
Judging by the van and the mechanism of injury, the seat would not have saved him. This was going to be a fatal either way. The only thing that would have saved him would habe been if he weren't stupid and drove drunk.
I think if he would’ve had his seatbelt on, he might have stood a decent chance to survive… because usually the intoxicated person fairs better than not being intoxicated because you’re very relaxed.
@@SilentStorm_5 As an firefighter/emt I have been on a few of these which is how I can usually tell whether a crash is survivable or not. While I agree with you that the drunk driver usually survives these, the damage to the vehicle suggests that even if he did wear his seat and by luck survived the crash, he would have been in extreme critical condition and would have been flown out to a major trauma center with extremely life threatening injuries and may have lasted into the night, tops. In otherwords, he wouldn't have lasted 24 hours and would have succumbed due to multi system trauma. The MOI ( mechamism of injury) is to great for this crash to be have survivable. Basically, he would definitely have lived if he were being stupid by driving drunk.
@@SilentStorm_5 adding to the emt aboves comment I volunteered for an FD and given the severity had he survived injuries, especially the a piller to the head. Just the force alone causing internal injury would have killed this guy...
I don’t see how his seat could have saved him. That seems really odd
@@AntiqueCycles seatbelt
Hope the victims in the other vehicle have a speedy recovery.
And a massive lawsuit against the liquor store.
He died in a big boom.
No way that seat belt was going to save him
Glad he wasn't wearing one because now he'll NEVER have a chance to drive drunk and injure/ kill anyone!
@@vivian2217well there’s a reality somewhere where he survives this crash and never drinks and drives again due to the experience. That would’ve been the best outcome

He and his father used to have very funny billboards around town promoting alcohol.

Good ones on TV also
So ironic

what was sad was the broken bottles--wonder if the troopers took their share......
You would think that the owner of a liquor store chain would know the hazards of drinking and driving. Seen the news or social media or even talked about it in a public meeting or two. But maybe not.
Most as with bar owners are likely heavy drinkers.😊

A wise person once said, never trust tequila. Never drink and drive either.
Thank you for telling us each bottle was $200. That's what all the alcoholics out there really care about. That's alcohol abuse

No, we care about other things too 😑
This news lady almost sounds like she is excusing the drink drivers actions because of the traumatic circumstance that have occurred when he was alive?
My father also died of pancreatic cancer; but you don't see me out driving the streets 3 X over the alcohol limit (note that in Australia the BAC limit is only 0.05.....not 0.08!)
I bartended for 3 years, this is the absolute stupidest thing a person can do. Seen way too many wrecked lives on both sides, and anybody who decides to drink and drink is a sorry POS...
@Claymore Jackson Nope. I've never had bad schitt happen. Except a dwarf incident, guns and horrible, horrible fights. I worked at a dive that was in a neighborhood next to a res. Not many people had cars in general. Most of them just walked their ass over, most of them related. It was really close knit. Also there was a bar here held liable in a dui that killed a cop I think. It's the Kon Tiki in Tucson Az. That was always in the back of my mind. But a regular/nephew did kill a woman in a Dodge dart on her way to work Sunday morning. The law had just changed here and they made an example out of his ass. He even left his 10 yo cousin in the truck and ran. Another chic had a 2week old baby, went partying, rolled her truck and killed herself. Both of those were partying in the hood and weren't even my bar. At 21 I had a decent moral compass and a conscious... But thanks for assuming every beer slinger is a POS. It looks good on you...
I will never drink and drink
@@claymorejackson7788no, that’s like blaming a gas station cashier for lung cancer for selling cigarettes

Shocking that the CEO of Lee’s Liquor would be involved in a DUI crash…
The poetic justice is staggering.
Tragic losses 😢.
Safe travels every body 👍.
Tragic for the victims who were hit, hopefully they recover.
Not so tragic for the useless, over-valued crap that was being transported in the minivan. And I’m not taking about the boxes of alcohol.
You too and THANK YOU! 🤝
The folks that shout and protest to defund the police should work a traffic accident like this one, and ones worse when children with torn bodies are the casualties. The stress that our first responders are exposed to is as great as those on any battlefield. Try to imagine carrying those images in your mind home every night.
At least motorists no longer have to worry about this drunk on the roads anymore.
Honestly alcohol is dangerous and people don’t see it.
I feel really bad for the people he crashed into. If you get that drunk and drive I don't feel bad for you if you die in a crash. You knew the risks, you gambled your life and you lost. No do-overs or restarts.

Dude wasn't trying to blame the tire and not the dui.
Have you ever spoke to someone, only to know they passed days or hours later?
Man in neon is processing his own emotions.
💯
He was also investigating. He knew he had an issue with his vehicle the night before and it’s crashed the next day. That’s a no brainer to bring up in an investigation and to check out. Even if it wasn’t likely the cause you’d be derelict not to look into it.
And after the father passed 3 months prior of pancreatic cancer. Booze isn’t youth serum or a good luck charm. If they ran 23 roadside vegetable stands would it have went down this way? Just hypothetically throwing it out there.
Booze eats away at your Organs slowly
If his dad died 3mos ago and he was close to him... I doubt he was chasing youth or good luck at the bottom of the bottle. He was drowning out the loss. Thank God he didn't take anyone else with him.
@@lar-zd9rs I wouldn’t overthink the comment 🤦♂️😂. It merely means it doesn’t lead to long, healthy, happy, lives generally. Drowning, making poor decisions with an inheritance, who knows 🤷♂️. But ok, whatever you think happened.

A study should be done to figure how a drunk driver finally managed to kill himself while driving drunk.
"Oh lets find out how much these bottles are worth man ! "
LMAO... it's nice to know what the liquor cost that got ruined and that his tires were fine... sounds like he dozed off... maybe next time he won't drink and drive? I do hope the other people come out OK and sue his estate... and it's amazing that neither reporter said "DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE"... and then potentially blaming his drinking on his fathers death... He coulda been driving with no tires and it wouldn’t have mattered with his BAC.
Police was concerned that the help they provided contributed to the accident. It did not in this case, but we NEED more honest and compassionate law enforcement like him.

How is one expected to run a reputable liquor store without being 3x the legal limit?

Karma for all those he killed with his poison .
A little judgmental, huh? Ok, name one time in the history of man when there wasn't some kind of intoxicant used. Name what happened when that was taken away by law. When people go to the liquor store, most times they head home to drink. Yes there are dui deaths. Yes they are preventable. But to blame it solely on the proprietor is pathetic.
What in the heck does the price of the Don Julio have to do with the story?
Brave emergency workers !
I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, but what relevance to having a flat tire the night before is there to driving with a BAC three times the legal limit? Is Nevada that short of newsworthy events that this station is that excited at the epiphany of troopers discussing an innocuous mechanical issue? And yes, what is the importance of $200 bottles of tequila?

@@dethray1000 🥸
They wanted to know if it had any part in the crash but even if it did he was still driving drunk. It's just clarifying did he fall asleep or did he get a flat tire? Doesn't really matter either way but as far as the $200 bottles some things are just interesting more than useful information
It comes off like the police were trying to come up with a way to not blame the accident on driving drunk
Why is it that, the bottles of tequila, seem to be more important than the poor people that he slammed into?? Who gives a fuck what the bottles cost?
What a damn shame! All that good liquor wasted, alcohol abuse if you ask me!
He was in the correct business at least
i hope the ppl he hit make a full recovery. i’m truly sad he had an issue with drinking and no one saw it around him. i know it can be hard to lose a parent but that isn’t an excuse to drive drunk
Imagine the thought that you tried to help someone with a flat tire and, instead of blaming his dui, you suspect the tire may have been the issue.
That was at crash site when officer said that. His blood alcohol had not been tested yet. Looking at ALL aspects is the most professional thing to do. Plus the officer is human and probably a lil stunned after helping the man just the night before.
