As a truck driver, I have driven in 47 of the lower 48 states. I can tell without a doubt: Las Vegas has the worst drivers I have ever seen. They constantly run red lights, they drive without their headlights on, etc...I could go on. Someone mentioned, Boulder Highway and Nellis, the lights there are out of sync and can have you stopped in the middle of Nellis when the light for Boulder Hwy turns green. It is such a confusing intersection. And then add in the pedestrians and it makes it that much more dangerous. I was there one time when a homeless guy was throwing big rocks at cars as they drove by! They also drive too fast...They are the worst drivers!
100% accurate. it’s not just on the freeway or main streets. Any streets that have schools on them here in Vegas avoid them. Parents picking up and dropping off kids are the worst. Hell, even the parking lots of stores are bad. I had one guy racing behind me swerving from side to side blasting music only to speed up and go around me IN A PARKING LOT. Just to park 10 feet away and go inside Dottys. Just wanted to impress his girl. I could not believe it. I was so mad I started to park and get out of the car to confront him but it would have just ended with me going to jail so I kept going. Pretty sad that we have to put up with these people and it’s like this 24/7 you get no breaks from it at any point.
The number one reason why there’s so many accidents is because of cell phone usage while driving. Not to mention all the construction that is all over Vegas because the Las Vegas paving does not finish projects in a timely manner and I know it’s not all Las Vegas paving’s fault. It’s also the county‘s fault for not approving permits in a timely manner either. But anytime you go over to the building department the workers there are literally just standing around talking half the time or sitting there scrolling through their computers or their cell phones. Can you tell me why it takes so long to get a permit for anything in this county?
And when they do construction, they always have to do 10 city blocks at one time never finishing because they start doing it all at the same fcuking time.....do 2 blocks,FINISH IT,THEN!! MOVE ON TO THE NEXT,,,I know it easier said then done,but still,they do too much at one time....

Cellphones and traffic cones exist in other countries but this massive uptick in crashes isn't happening elsewhere. If you want to know why this is happening, look up any of the safety articles at Strong Towns. This is due to stroads (which are inherently dangerous), an increase in vehicle sizes (especially SUVs and pickups with massive visibility issues), and car-dependency, which means everyone needs to drive: even those people who shouldn't need to, those who don't want to, and those who shouldn't be driving at all.
Maybe, just MAYBE, if the DMV would actually test properly to make sure people DESERVE the PRIVILEGE of having a license and not giving licenses to those who cannot read or speak English, traffic wouldn't be so bad. Drivers need to PAY ATTENTION TO DRIVING!!
Higher fines for driving distracted (holding a mobile or using it non-hands-free) and actually enforcing it. Paying attention is also a problem. Often people are surprised they have to make a right (or left) turn suddenly and cut across the whole road to do it. Figure that these people would know where they're going but are just lost in the fog (or green weed).

you dont even get in trouble in vegas for not having a car registered. you will get a ticket but they wont come after you if you dont pay it. there are so many uninsured unregistered cars on the roads in clark county its not even funny
I live near there and ride buses and cross those intersections all the time. I think it's people running red lights. In ten years I've seen it thousands of times and never seen a ticket written.
Been living in vegas since 95 and i have never been hit by a car, i do alot of walking in town and i even jay walk often i just don't understand how people are getting hit by cars, people need to learn how to be more aware of their surroundings.

I think that there is a huge disparity in driving ability across that region. Add in the people looking at their mobiles instead of driving and ones that have no idea other people live in their world, and this is what you get. Also, to the news channel, percentages without reference point mean nothing except to sensationalize it. Accidents up 79%? What is it up from, 10 or 1000? did it increase to 18 or 1790? "Double" (or 100% increase) is a lot different if you start out from 1 vs 1000. I know you're trying to sound smart by using "percent" but it's conveys far less information than you know than hard numbers, and this is coming from a statistician.

It's my opinion to just admit to many different groups that have no idea about driving in this country for a guy to almost hit me on curbside just walking and when screamed HEY loud because I almost got hit this individual was not black or white didn't have any idea what he was with broken English asking me with anger in his face what did you say to me I had to flip it and actually point out the yellow and red on sidewalk with all of a sudden this individual stranger Said I feel bad now Sir whould you like to sit in my car and drink a beer with me I have plenty of beer in my car unbelievable put true and he looked surprised I said no thanks get behind major street bus 🚌 stops and stack millions of dollars with some speeding through yellow lights running lights besides they'll get to find all sort of things and charge for return of vehicle drugs and liquor will be fond more pissing on 🦵 leg and telling US its raining showing a b line footage of a officer one day handing out tickets but when we're sitting and waiting for 🚌 bus all kinds of stuff just place a motorcycle behind a bus stop and rotate it are only Hope for citizens survival ✌️ here in Las Vegas Nevada.
