- On Day 3 of the 2015 Diesel Power Challenge, 10 reader-selected trucks head to Bandimere Raceway as the contenders hook a utility trailer and tow 10,000-pounds through a single 1/8-mile dragstrip pass. With only one attempt allowed the quickest time once again wins the event. Watch as over 9 tons of diesel power fury thunders down the dragstrip.
Diesel Power Challenge 2015 is a weeklong torture test that features 7 events, 10 trucks, 8,000hp, and nearly 15,000 lb-ft of torque. We push Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax-powered trucks well beyond their limits in search of the ultimate diesel.

Who edited this video?? Calling Dodges, Fords and then on the dyno pulls on the other videos you have pictures of Fords calling them Dodges, and using the same Dyno video for a few different trucks as well.

Yes. The cap is mandatory, but wearing seat belts and cheesy chin beards are at driver's discretion.
Why did only some of these guys practice before coming? I understand that not everyone has a drag strip near them but not knowing how they work?! Come on. You put thousands upon thousands of dollars into a vehicle than walk into a competition blind. I find this funny if anything.

Should have let Bill Winters run again. He said he has never raced it, so has no idea how a tree works. It wouldn't have really made any difference and im sure those guys wouldn't have minded him getting a do over.

Personally i love the Powerstroke V8 sound more than the cummins usually but Miller's stroked Cummins just sounds so badass. Not only that but he knew what to put his money on after his win which gave him this beautiful machine. Honestly it looks like he will reign champion once again this year unless something goes wrong but his build seems durable and by the sound of things thats on his top priorities so i doupt he will fail. That Tri-Turbo Powerstroke is the only other truck i remember winning 2 years in a row if im not mistaken that was Wes. And when he lost it i was surprised but Lavon seems to have the right mindset

I always thought it was impressive that these trucks could make over 1000 hp with stock internals, but I think it's pretty clear now that most of them are just dyno-queens lol.
A lot of these guys are running compound turbo setups, but I wonder if a supercharger/turbo combo setup would kill that lag more effectively.

they ran a blower fed by a turbo to help on the bottom end.

The detroits ran superchargers because a 2 stroke diesel cannot run without forced induction they don't pull air in themselves. Superchargers take too much power to run and cause too many harmonics to make it worth it

Michael Creger They have their ups and downs. What year V10? There's a lot of money running down that track over and above the premium you would have paid for the diesel.

StyleGT Don't get me wrong I love driving. The body is in great condition with no rust, yeah there are 99s without the rusted wheel well. But I've also gone and put a K&N under the hood along with headers Gibson exhaust, Performance chip and tuned it. But if it had been diesel it would be pushing out much more horsepower for what I've done to it. I did just a few months ago consider putting in a Cummins into my ford o.O

ikonane they tend to be very hard to handle as manuals with that kind of power. That's why you see bugatti veyrons and nissan gtr's etc with automatics transmissions only

Thomas Botica That's not true. The reason modern supercars usually come with automatics only is because they shift faster. No human could ever match the speed of a dual clutch auto. Manual is a lot more fun though.

YT just requires a legit reason, such as "moving photogrpahy" and 1320/Kyle got his "permit" for 60 fps 720/1080p quite a while ago now.
barath4545 What RUclips needs a reason? For me i didn´t need to do anything, if i upload in 60 fps its 60 fps. I think the reason why not everybody uses it is because the files are larger, rendering and upload takes longer.

I'm seriously considering my first diesel, I would like too know if diesel maintenence is expensive?
not sure why no one responded. yes diesel maintenance can be expensive. fuel is more expensive, takes a lot more oil per change, fuel filters get changed as often as the air filter ect.

None of them were going to be fast enough to require it. Bandimere's helmet rules are 13.99 and faster for the the 1/4. They don't have an 1/8 time but I would imagine 8.50ish would be where they need one.

jospi2 Some tracks are so strange on their safety rules. Our local track has a road course and a 1/4 mile, 1/4 mile you have to have helmet, no passengers allowed, and roll cage if fast enough. The road course.... No inspection, I have seen pple shove 4 pple in a convertible mustang with no roll bar no helmets and the driver was smoking a cigarette while driving around the track...

Turb=force induction. Intercooler cools down mechanical pieces. Naturally aspirated means just motor, no turbos, Superchargers, or leaf blowers...
Yes they need an intercooler. Modified diesels need huge intercoolers and reach insane egt's
Anything thats turbo/supercharged will never be naturally aspirated.... unless the turbo doesnt spool lol

As soon as the motor is Superchargered, turboed, anything the motor is no longer NA. Unless somehow there is a turbo mounted to the roof of the car and in no way is it connected to the motor, then sure.
