From serene aquascapes to intense battles, this story will move you like never before.
This is the first Cinematic Axolotl Experience on RUclips, and is my first time attempting a video like this. If you enjoyed it, please let me know in the comments.
The culmination of 20 hours of footage and 60 hours of editing was a massive learning experience for me, and I look forward to trying another one of these soon :)

I am super pleased with how this one came together, even if it did take 80+ hours. Not sure if I'll do another one of these anytime soon.
Hi I have a crested gecko his name is godzilla
He is a baby I got him or her from a reptile convention. I'm keeping him in a smallish container with leafs for him to hide until he gets more than 10 grams then when he gets bigger I'm putting him in a normal tank
Fascinating! Perfect names. This was very relaxing 😌
Thank you :) I'm pretty happy with the names, took me long enough to name these two lol
Jasper and Atlas are two really good names for an axolotl :)
This is amazing. It’s like watching animal planet. I was shocked you don’t have more subs. Wonderful work 😍
OMG I was hoping for a comment like this. That's exactly what I was going for! Skill level lacks quite a bit, but I really learned a ton from trying to do this one. Always wanted to try out an animal planet style story vid. You just made my entire month. Thank you :)
The dramatic music 🤣 🦎 Love it!!
Lol I went for as national Geographic as possible. Turns out they have hundreds of people working on sound, music, editing... Lol so I did the best I could do by myself.
Thanks to you for all the hard work and sharing! Greetings from Mexico! C:
I assume you know this, but axolotls are from Mexico for those who don’t know!
Dieser Bodengrund ist absolut ungeeignet für die Tiere !!!
Richtig. Wenn die Tiere kleiner wären. Da sie 6 Zoll oder länger sind, ist dieses Substrat in der Lage, gut durchzugehen.
Amazing work! Looking into getting an Axolotl but I'm more impressed by the video production!
:O Thank you Daniel. Axies are uhh, both a pain in the butt, but worth it at the same time. Idk how to summarize these guys yet
@TaylorShawn
It could call for a simultaneous thumb up & a thumb down 🤔 😉 Wonderful video! ❤️ this!
Thanks for putting the work into this vid. Really cool and very well done.
Thank you Carmen
wow taylor!! really well done video. And to see them hunt together...smart creatures for sure. When you were here at TortoiseLand you also saw some of my tortoises, the forest dwellers especially, that love worms and snails. Keep the great videos coming my bruthah! --kevin, The Tortoise Guy
i really hope this gets 1 million views! u deserve it!
I would absolutely love if that would happen lol. Really poured everything into making this one.

CUUUUUUUUTE!!!!
Amazing

Yo! Are you using an underwater microphone, or are you adding sound effects? Love your content btw!
I made sound effects with my microphone, but no it's not an underwater mic. I really should get one of those
I was wondering the same thing cause the sounds lined up perfectly with the munching they were doing.
@@guyfromnj it was VERY difficult to pull off, especially since I've never tried that before. My first time and I was like, yeah nah I can do this probably. 415 individual sounds later, frame by frame lining up... Whew. I sure hope I find a more automated way to do that in the future.
@@TaylorShawn well the hard work was greatly appreciated. Such cool animals deserve great footage. Really well done.
@@guyfromnj I am grateful for you :) Thank you so much, this really gives me some good motivation.
I came here expecting a bloodbath, still, these are awesome critters!
its definitely a blood bath if they can manage to rip a worm in half, which isn't often lol. I usually have to cut the worms up a little bit. They are violent thrashy little things when they eat, but not very effective xD
The eternal smile “fish”
i wonder how the world looks through their eyes :D
Likely a giant blur. They see me and turn towards me when I sit down next to them, but it takes them a while to process the change in scenery lol
@@TaylorShawn basically like me without glasses 😅
good video, nice one!!
Thank you :)
Here from Akibha Maid
I have no idea what that is
Bruh didn't even see the worm he was stepping on. Violent Alpha Predator my ass. lmao
It's hard to believe, but they are actually apex predators in the wild. They are incredibly dumb animals though lol
They’re only native to one body of water in Mexico that has unfortunately most been destroyed in the modern age by humans
На вид это что то среднее между ящерицей и окунем
А может Дарвин прав??? Вот же как вылезла рыбка на сушу!
If condo you, is there the red chain morph for the black mamba?
우파루파 아니냐🐲🐉
Why are they terrifying I thought they were supposed to be cute 😭
When they eat, they are super violent about it lol. It's the wildest thing to see in person, I have tried to convey it properly on video, but it doesn't quite have the kick
Hey can you make a video of the frill shark 🦈 you know the deep deep dinosaur of the ocean 🌊 thanks well put out observations sir
"Violent alpha predator"
Wasn't my idea, I had it as "A Cinematic Axolotl Experience", and then all the youtube experts yelled at me, and came up with that title. It's not inaccurate though. They are violent, and they are alpha predators in the wild... even though they are basically extinct in the wild. Check the worm battle scene, these lizards are brutal lol
@@TaylorShawn oh yeah I heard many people who make RUclips videos have the same problem but the reason why I wrote it like that because their face looks like a piece of cookie dough
I am from Mexico and around here I have only seen 1 this I only translated it I do not speak English
Well there's no english in this video so I hope you were able to enjoy it :)
😘
Aksolotlar
I’ve had mine for almost 12 years I had 2 but lights ate Wiley
U HAVE AXOLOTLS ALSO!!!!!???? I have questions….. how big is they’re tank and how old are they? :3 I originally have two AXOLOTLS but this tank seems like a better size for them :)
180 gallon tank. One is 9 months, the other is 1.5 years.
Hola.
They are cute but deadly to some underwater animals,
they are super violent eaters, the death shake melts me though
Ajolote
It turns out Axolotls can develop lungs but they only use it when they are going to breathe in air from the surface
yeah mine go up to the surface every 10 mins or so for a big gulp, thats also how they maintain neutral buoyancy. If they get too much air, the butt starts to float so they burp out the excess air. Such weird, weird little things.
And they can lose a limb but can generate it back like they never lost it in the first place only and that can do so and scientists are still figuring that out how?☝️
Did you decide on a name yet?
Yes I believe we did. My little gfp is Atlas, and my mom's big Ole leucistic is Jasper.
@@TaylorShawn nice
is it eating it or just sucking its blood or something?
Basically they eat by doing a death shake and trying to tear things into bite sized chunks. They eat the entire worm, or pellet, whatever they get that day. Unfortunately, it's kind of dumb. The death shake does absolutely nothing to a worm lol, so it's a futile effort. Still melts me either way.
вид у них прикольный конечно ...
но жабры слишком беззащитны ....
я думаю любой другой альфа хищник типа пираньи или щуки их легко скушает ...
)))))))))))))))))
I have an axolotl named kirbe
лунтик уже не тот
How can it survive in a tropical aquarium?
Definitely not tropical. 68 degrees and bare necessities since they like to ram into things and die. They weren't fun to keep tbh
@@TaylorShawn Thank you for all of your time/effort & sharing this 😊
they're actually blind so they have no idea what they just ate
They aren't blind, but they don't have great vision
69 likes on the video huh
🙃
po pelo título achei que ele matava um tubarão e comia frito
Too long and drawn out, they do look cool though.
Yeah I feel you. The opening scene is way too long in my opinion, but I really couldn't find another way of conveying how they function. I wanted people to see what they were like pre-hunt, which is basically them doing nothing as usual, but then they get restless all of a sudden and the hunt is on.
Extremely uneventful, nice shots though
hey Johan, glad you brought this up. I'm new to creating a story driven cinematic, so there are some things I would do differently when i do another one. The main prizes in this was the epic worm battle, and the brother sneaking around trying to get to the little guy. One piece of footage i haven't managed to capture yet is when the little one is eating and the big one sees him, the big one sneaks over in his blind spots, sticks his head under the little one, and flips him backwards, and then eats.
So the "Danger approaches" subs was about that. And sure enough, he got booted out of there,
The goal was to test my skill levels, to see how my photography learning was coming, and how my editing is coming back to me after many months of covid complications. The secondary goal of that video was to pull people in, and have them trasfixed at what was going on. Sure there's a story to tell, but it was the little nuance pieces in there that i really enjoyed.
gotta remember 20 hours of filming, 60 hours of editing, and thats what this video was.
Feedback is of critical importance to me. There's no guides to follow, noone to tell you what to do. Im doing all of this on my own, and right now I would be very grateful for detailed feedback. If you would be so kind
no need to type "mexican" their blood will be mexican always
i typed it for clarity, since most people have no idea they come from a lake in mexico where they are now basically extinct due to pollution and poaching.

O do minecraft é mais bonito.
Eso es mentira los ajolotes son hermosos y estan en peligro de extincion
They stole the model from minecraft
Do you even know what alpha predator means?
Do you? Axolotl's are the top of the food chain in their native environment. The only thing that eats them is the humans that live there. That's the literal definition of an alpha predator.
