“As a lover of Motion Picture Arts, I decided to take up the challenge of recording movie reviews and this is what Amy’s Cut is about. Fun, full of ideas and challenges, sprinkled with music (of course; did you expect otherwise?!), my takes on movies are meant to bring you at least one smile on your face. If that’s achieved, I am happy!”

Congratulations Amy on your new channel. I am looking forward to it. I loved your background story on your upbringing, and why you were never exposed to a lot of these things. My guess is that is not as rare as a lot of people seem to think.
Do look at the 80s film ‘Highlander’. It’s surprisingly emotive, funny & has a soundtrack by Queen! Don’t be put off by the decapitations or sci-fi angle about immortals living among us. ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ = fav song- and my favourite 80s New York reply to finding out the man you’re interested in is immortal ‘everybody’s got their problems’ (chuckle nervously) 😂
Great idea! I personally would like to watch your review on some art-house movies of Takeshi Kitano "Dolls", "A Scene at the sea" or Kubrick's Barry Lyndon...
That is the most unusual Northern California, Tennessee accent. I imagined you were Dutch or Danish, because you aound remarkably like them!
I have always wanted to see A Clockwork Orange reviewed by a classical music teacher.
Looking fwd to your impressions on here!
a german summer with german beer means also an open air kino aka cinema with Metropolis or DAS BOOT
As german as bread and sausages, or even cars. Queen had used Metropolis in the 80s , I guess Radio gaga or so .
As a kid when I ran out of stuff to read I would go grab the colliers encyclopedia just one of the random volumes and start reading about whatever it was I turned the first page to
Very excited for this new channel! I just found your Virgin Rock channel a week or so ago and have been enjoying your reactions to Queen and Pink Floyd especially, one suggestion for this channel, that's a bit out there but one of my favorites, is Harold and Maude.
Movies as well??? Are they only feature films, or do you do documentaries as well? You can mix up the two (music and movies)! My first recommendation, THIS IS SPINAL TAP, which was done primarily ad-lib! It's all about Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll. For a documentary, there's Penelope Spheeris' THE DECLINE AND FALL OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION: Part II, The Metal Years. This doc, made in the 1980s at the height of the hair band days in L.A., features the famous (Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, WASP, and the like), but more interestingly, you get to meet the Hair Band Wannabe's and their amazing ability to fantasize about being rich and famous.
Just listened to your Scorpions:Holiday commentary and found this channel listed in the sidebar! Just subscribed to this one too. I also grew up in NorCal. Where was your ranch?
Woo-hoo! Subscriber #1000! Just call me M. 😊
Hi from northern Germany🇩🇪.
My alltime favorit movies are:
1) Forrest Gump (The Orchester Music is adorable)
2) The Pursuit of Happyness ( based on a true story)
3) Little shop of horrors (Musical)
All three movies were funny and sad as well. There were intresting, entertaining and give higly emotional experiences. I would really preciate it when you write these 3 movies on your list. And of course, as a huge ⚜️Queen👸 fan: Bohemian Rhapsodie the Biopic. It's not in my ranking list. It's stand for itself.
Good luck to your new challenge. I really like your content! Keep on going! ❤🎶🎬
Your reaction to Alien (1979) should be interesting.
If you want a crossover between your two channels, two movies I would recommend are "The Blues Brothers" and "Almost Famous".
I recommand films with music:
- Quadrophenia and Tommy (The Who)
- The Rocky Horror Picture Show
- Breaking Glass (with Hazel O'Connor)
All the best from Germany. Have with your new channel.
Excellent news! I think you would find these three movies fascinating and moving: ‘Ordinary People’, ‘Babette's Feast’ and ‘The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie’.
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE!
yes! yes! yes! - and don't forget the shrubbery
I suggest you watch 'Trading Places' (1983) one of these days (or nights). One of the best Intros ever imho and I am pretty sure you will love it. A lovely Flick altogether
Directed by John Landis, with Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Muphy, Jamie Lee Curtis etc.
4:21 - this somehow reminds me of "The Man with the Movie Camera". I'm not in a position to commission a watch, but I humbly submit a request for your take on that. :)
Seriously looking forward to this as a musician and a movie buff. To me the music makes a movie experience and I’m excited to see how your appreciation and knowledge of music intensifies how you appreciate movies.
Big congrats!
Glad to be one of the first really eager subscribers here as well!
Cheers and love!
Shawshank Redemption pls
This makes me happy!.......
Good luck with the new channel Amy .. will be here 😊
Good Luck here! I was able to add 2 subscribes for you.
Subscriber number 188 - very much looking forward to the journey!
Good luck - great idea
Let's hope there are never any typos.
My record was 8 movies in one day! 😄
Wait, what? Single-digit likes, double-digit views and subscribers? Well, I guess the channel is brand new. Anyway, hi. Curious to see how this project goes, as well. :)
Hello try these:
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Schindlers List
The Sound Of Music
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Mulholland Drive
Pulp Fiction
Mad Max: Fury Road
Sideways
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Taxi Driver
Be aware that some of these may not suit your (I assume) sensitive sensibilities.

@@AmysCut haha, hopefully Vlad might also warn you in at least some cases in advance, and/or direct you towards films that won't spoil a first listen for you. ;)
