Its 100% worth it. A belly full of cyrodyllic brandy, the (in my opinion) best view in Tamriel, and if you take the route of a warrior, you have the pride of knowing you are part of the greatest fighting force on Nirn. Also you literally just find gold everywhere. Sounds fantastic to me.

The Imperial Empire is Tamriel's only hope of true peace on the continent. If the races of men do not unite under the banner of the red dragon, then all shall fall to the dominion of elves...
It is their inability after the Septim dynasty to realize change was coming. They could have granted a form of autonomy and still kept the empire united.
@@bronumero7334 Your right the Empire we know died with the death of the last Septim but like many times before the Empire has risen from the ashes. The Imperial race lives on and with it the Empire!
0:17 Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there.
Damn you stormcloaks! Skyrim was fine until you came along, Empire was nice and lazy. If they hand’t been looking for you, I would have stolen that horse and been halfway to hammerfell. You there, you and me, we shouldn’t be here. It’s the stormcloaks the Empire wants.
Imperial would definitely be my choice. Important culture, military, government system, wealth, foreign projection... Even the armours look good, as per the most recent renditions in ESO and Legends. Plus, if this were according to the real life cultures TES is based on, I'd still be an imperial; being myself from the former Roman province of Hispania, the most important and Romanized one after Rome itself. Nice video.
I'm from southwestern Europe and the bretons don't really have anything inspired by this part of the continent, beyond token medieval aesthetics, and even that is stretching it.
Being a Nord or Redguard sounds more epic, but being an Imperial probably gives more opportunities. Like being a jack of all trades, versus a master of one. You're less specialized, but you can do several things well instead of just one thing really good.
Imperial's my first choice because they're a fantastic jack-of-all-trades race. Being naturally diplomatic and lucky are neat bonuses, but the ability to succeed at the arts of war, stealth, OR magic (or some combination of the three) has always appealed to me. While I love magic in particular (especially the way it's described in Elder Scrols lore as being virtually limitless in its possibilities), an Imperial could practice magic and not face any inherent drawbacks should they choose to study swordsmanship or marksmanship, giving an Imprial a chance to excel at anything, given the proper time and attention. Plus, as an Imperial in the Fourth Era, I could be exactly in the position I want to be in the war: opposed to the Thalmor and the Aldmeri Dominion, worshipping all Nine Divines freely, but NOT obligated to join Ulfric or the Stormcloaks, bcause I hate their bigotry as much as I hate the Thalmor's.
Good point. You could be in the perfect position to stay out of the war entirely if you want with the excuse that you hate everyone involved. You have no desire to join either side of the civil war too again with the reason that you like neither of those bigoted idiot.
In many of my playthroughs in Skyrim i imagine my imperial character as a descendant of Uriel Septim VII (through one of his eldest sons), or even Reman Cyrodil, and also imagine that after the events of the game my dragonborn became emperor and annihilated the Thalmor in the second great war, bringing back Summerset isles under the empire.
I agree, however I think Dunmer are also able to multitask. You tend to see a lot of Dark Elf assassins (such as the Morag Tong) as well as warriors (which you'll likely see in the Imperial Legion) and pyromancers (thanks to their relationship with fire magic). To be honest though I like every Elder Scrolls race lol.
It’s weird how much these guys underplay the Imperials, being lore experts and all. There’s a reason why they have such a powerful and apparent presence in the games from 3-5. You can actually feel it; they are the most dominant culture/civilization. And I highly doubt their mercantile abilities are the driving force behind their military might. Imperials are incredible.
Actually the economic aspect makes sense. In our world Rome’s economic efforts gave them money to pay professional soldiers and routes for logistics. Which is why once the economy collapsed, armies the scale & quality of Rome’s ceased to exist until the Napoleonic era. Rome could commit 80,000 soldiers to a campaign, whereas the most important battles of the medieval time had maybe 15,000 both sides combined.
As far as I can tell besides the Voice of the Emperor ability being an Imperial is literally no different from being a human besides finding more coins.
One word: Yes it. I'd prefer to be a Colovian over a Nibensese, but I'd still rather be a Nord or Dunmer. Though I'll admit being part of The Alessian Slave Rebellion would be cool.
"You've clicked on this video but rather coming to our channel, your soul has been transported to the Elder Scrolls universe". Looks like I've been Isekai'd.
Tells you something about Auriel and his cronies perhaps. Or maybe it suggests that the elf origin story is not entirely true and perhaps the elves are a little more low born than the Altmer would like to have us believe.
As a breton i support the empire. Bretons have had a pretty good relationship with the empire, probably more than every province outside of cyrodiil and we've held the throne more than any other race. The empire doesn't discriminate and accepts anybody who is willing to fight for the cause. Solitude is also a magnificent city and my second favourite after markarth. Windhelm is cold as shit, miserable and if you aren't a nord then you aren't welcome. As soon as you set foot in the city you see a dark elf being threatened. Not to mention the imperial officer set looks cooler than the stormcloak sets and red>blue as far as I'm concerned. Stormcloaks are fun to join when i get bored and want to make a patriotic nord but most of the time i support the empire. Apart from the skirts they are just cooler. I agree about the elves though. The elves control the empire and that shit needs to change. Fast. Also, the empire brings peace and stability to tamriel. Look what happened when the empire fell in ESO and molag bal started invading tamriel. That would have been sorted quicker under the empire because the empire could have united people and there wouldn't be three alliances fighting for power while molag sets his dogs loose on the continent. Imperial is also the race to play if you are making a templar/paladin/priest and/or want to be persuasive and rich.
Imperials are the best of the worlds of the Breton and Redguards: Youll be able to cast magic, although not as potent as elves or Breton. And your swordarm is still pretty decent, even if your not a Nordic Chad.
A cosmopolitan nation with a temperate climate, social mobility, no feuding warlords _and_ no anti-magic prejudice? Plus I get to be charismatic and lucky? Sign me up!
I'd definitely pick imperial. I feel like they have the highest chance of living a normal life. Also, if I'm gonna be fighting, legion would be my preference. Everyone's racist to the beast folk, and elves are dicks, so Def imperial for me
@Tyler Grant Yet they couldn't beat the Redgaurds. The Dominion were unable to council Tamriel at the time. Both sides were exhausted from the war. The Empire was just the first one to say "I give up".
Well, I always play as a Breton or Imperial so I definately consider being an Imperial worth it. They're a good all-round race that can be moulded into whatever kind of build I want. Lore wise, I respect the amount of study and scholarly research the Imperials have done. Doesn't seem to be a thing many other races seem interested in.
Favorite race by far I always make an imperial thief who was orphaned as a child and has to steal to survive but eventually becomes something of an anti hero
~8 years later, and still putting out quality content! Definitely a favorite game of mine, and I’m sure many others. Thanks for sticking with it, and having as much passion for it as the rest of us.

From playing oblivion for the first time as a Colovian knight all my characters are going to be imperials because I love the how when I play as that same sword and shield build it brings me way back to exploring the country side of Ciroydill
The Imperial race is what I chose on my first character in my first ever Elder Scrolls game. So I guess you can say it has a special place in my heart. I've even built an entire family line of Imperials and a couple of Nords. The Lorrus Dynasty has been part of Tamriel since the days of old. I have an entire backstory for this line as well. But that's a story for another day. That's probably why I'll choose an Imperial character as my first character in TES6 no matter what.
relatable.. except i've always picked an Orc.. i've never gotten far into the game with any other characters as i just prefer the Orcs.. come TES6 i will also defenitely play as an orc most likely a descendant of my Skyrim orc Ka'rele or ancestor relying on when the game will take place
So, there's one aspect of being an Imperial you briefly, all-but-touch upon: teamwork. The reason the Imperials, despite being slightly evolved Nedes, have managed to accomplish all that they have, is because the Imperials learned early on that working together and teamwork has value. While it's not a power in the way that magic use or biological factors are, I think it's still the Imperial's ultimate trump card when dealing with the chaos that is Tamriel, past or present. In a brutal world, where the strong prey upon the weak, where darkness only hides a thief or skeever if you're lucky, where poorly-understood primal forces can be gamed to potentially undo the Mundus, let alone beings' metaphysical existence, the Imperials learned a basic truth _because_ they were so outclassed: one man is weak; two men are stronger; three are _disproportionately_ stronger. Imperial society has injustice, stratification, inequity, and all the failings displayed by all the other mortal races. That much isn't being questioned. However, to be an Imperial is not only to have comrades at your side when you need them, be it military, trade, spiritual, or simply just buddies, but also to be able to make those friends and know their value. The reason the Imperials succeed, is because even the most cynical, crooked Imperial knows that there's a limit to what can be accoplished alone. Were I to be transported to modern, 4E201 Tamriel, _you'd better believe that I'd choose Imperial._ Even in the aftermath of the First Great War, with the potential creation of a second Daggerfall Covenant, a more militarized Black Marsh, the Dark Elves of Vvardenfell in diaspora, and the permanent threat of Aldmeri spies and soldiers...Imperial is the way to go. Even as the most common of Imperials, I could pull together a band of friends who help each other not only survive, but prosper. And potentially turn the tide.
Many years later, I hope you're both well, but what an utterly excellent answer. For the empire my fellow legionnaire, hope your sword arm isn't too flabby and you've been caring for your armor. Only 1 free outfit per soldier after all!
Imperials are bureaucratic peace keepers: ambitious, decently strong and know their way around magic, and can be quite reasonable. They're pretty much middle-ground in everything. One drawback is they're up in EVERYONE'S business. Nords are thick-headed jocks who like to show off how strong and nationalistic they are. Bretons are nerdy wizards who were mostly active in the past but lately haven't done much as a collective race. Redguards are basically Nords, but more stoic and graceful when it comes to combat. High Elves range from being "Snobby douchebags" to "Basically Nazis", though they do live the longest and are best at magic so I see where all the narcissism comes from. Dark Elves are just tired, like, really tired, and just wanna relax, they had a good time enslaving Argonians but now they're most people's punching bag in societies (especially in Skyrim). Wood Elves are just kinda like hippies, and aren't politically active as individuals, but as a society seem to be working with the Thalmor (aka, Elf Nazis). Argonians keep to themselves for the most part, only really have advantages when it comes to watery areas or their homelands. Orcs are like Nords, if they were more tribal and went even harder on the whole "honor" thing. Khajit are just the biggest trolls of Tamriel, some of them are pretty coolio, but others are the biggest shit-heads who can't keep their grubby paws out of people's pockets.
My newest character is Alexios, the Emperor's Blade. Hes an Imperial agent of the Empire, sent to Skyrim to investigate the goings on in the province, and perhaps change some things. Alexios was born the son of Legion captain Gracchus. He was raised in the Imperial City, in the shadow of the White-Gold Tower itself. Raised the son of a soldier, Alexios was never given more than he earned. His father was tough, but fair. Alexios did not fret however, and always encouraged his father to challenge him further. One such challenge, at the age of 10, was to enter into a ruin alone. There the boy found a nest of skeevers. Outnumbered, the boy had to think quickly. He drew the nasty beasts along until, eventually, he trapped them. A spike pit built long before by the Alyeids was his salvation, and the skeevers doom. As the boy grew however, his skills were not merely that of a soldier. He learned too the art of begging, brawling, and thieving from the streets of the city he so loved. One day, when Alexios was nearly a man, he heard of an army approaching the Imperial City. The Great War had begun, and Gracchus had left on assignment many months before, assigned to protect the Imperial City at all costs. The Elves had broken through, and Gracchus' contingent had been wiped out. Now an orphan, Alexios was left devastated and unknowing of the future. An army was coming, and the city was being evacuated. He left on a cart bound for the mountains, and as he watched the White-Gold Tower burned. When the refugees made it to Bruma, Alexios realized what he must do. He went to the nearest Legion commander and demanded to be enlisted. The commander, who knew of Alexios' father, accepted the boy into his platoon, and like that Alexios was off to avenge his father. Outfitted with a sword and rusty old armor, Alexios marched into the city with Imperial reinforcements and helped to liberate the city, but the damage was already done. The Legion drove back the elves, but the war was not yet through... Or so Alexios thought. The White-Gold Concordat changed all that, and yet again the world around Alexios crumbled. The revenge he sought was now far out of hand. The coward Emperor was to blame, Alexios was sure. He knew it in his bones, and as he watched the Emperor paraded back into the city he began to plot. As the days grew long, and his plan tool shape, Alexios hardened his resolve. He infiltrated the Imperial Palace, using all the skills he had learned from his father and from his now ruined city to do so without issue. When he finally laid eyes upon the Emperor, the boy felt a hand upon his shoulder. As he turned, the boy saw the sigil of the Penitus Oculatus before him. A man, about the age of Alexios' father, stood before him. Before the boy knew what had happened he was brought to the Emperor, who surpisingly did not execute him. Instead the Emperor spoke to the boy. Her offered him food, and asked how he was feeling. Alexios, who hated the man before him with every ounce of his being, did not at first speak. Only once the Emperor asked him if Gracchus would have wanted this of him did Alexios' veneer shatter. He broke, and for a moment the Emperor saw a glimpse of the boy beneath. For the Emperor had known Alexios' father. He had distinguished himself in the defence of the border, and the Emperor had witnessed the bravery of his son in the battle to retake the city. The Emperor spoke with the boy then, telling him of the nature of rulership, and how tough and unpopular choices are often the most righteous. He spoke to the boy for some time, and in the end revealed to him the one thing the boy needed to hear. The Empire had not given in to the Thalmor, and they would not stop fighting them. The war would continue, for now, in the shadows. Until the might of the Empire was restored, the Empire required peace. Yet still hope was offered, as a hand was extended to the boy. For the talent required to infiltrate the palace was considerable, and the Emperor could use such a thing. The boy was handed to the Penitus Oculatus, and trained to be the Emperor's personal agent. Sent to trouble spots to end the trouble, he became an invaluable tool to the Empire. He fought, for a time, in Hammerfell under the guise of a mercenary. Now Alexios has been sent to Commander Maro in Skyrim. Trouble is brewing, and he is tasked with ending the trouble. Reachmen in Markarth are running amok. Whispers of necromancers near Solitude. The Dark Brotherhood resurging. A civil war raging. The Emperor wants these incidents resolved, and has sent his blade to do the job.
Imperials are peak Humanity in Elder Scrolls in my opinion. They've mastered trade, have a beautiful diverse homeland, can excel as both mages and soldiers depending on how they apply themselves, have a well equipped and well drilled armed force and their homeland is united under a singular ruler. Not the Redguard, Bretons or Nords can boast to have every single benefit the Imperials have. Empire for ever imo. Its extremely shortsighted for Humanity to break apart and be easy pickings for Elves.

Cyrodiil is the one province where all walks of life can make a name for themselves, especially as an Imperial, it is absolutely worth it. Another benefit is you can experience a bit of every culture on Tamriel in Cyrodiil. Imagine how enriching that would be for a life on Tamriel, vs living somewhere like Morrowind or Skyrim, where the only culture you will experience is the home province's.
I know it’s not an official theory, but maybe Cyrodiil’s climate changed from tropical to temperate due to global cooling? After all, Atmora used to be forested but is now frozen over, and Skyrim used to be called the land of butterflies and Kodlak at one point mentions a time of “distant green summers”, not to mention all the frozen over ancient Nordic ruins. If both Atmora and Skyrim have cooled, maybe Cyrodiil did as well? Just a thought.
i always saw the third era empire as the HRE, a reborn empire brought back by a great conqueror from the north, (Tiber Septim = Charlemaigne ), in my opinion the Cyrodil we saw in Oblivion was medieval Italy, and if you look at one of the most common armor sets in Oblivion, the steel one, you can see that it is identical to a milanese style suit of plate armour.
I'm an Imperial and proud of it! I'm an Archer Combat who is also very diplomatic, wealthy and very loyal to Empire. He lives in Cyrodiil, out in the country of the farm. He then left Cyrodiil to cross the border because he got a note from his brother. Brother was an Imperial Soldier but unfortunately got trapped into the cave with a few other soldiers and my Archer Combat who is named Ian Dubghgall. Ian arrived late and saw his brother's remain with a journel in his hand saying everything that Ian learned about his Brother's life and in the process of war/death and told Ian to take his place and end the war once and for all.
Haraldr Harđrađi Sigurđarsson, Skarpheđinn Njállsson, Gunnarr Hammundarrsson, Eirikur Rauđurinn, Leifar Eirikursson, Ragnarr Lođbrok, Hrólfr Kraki, Bödvar Bjarki, Grettir the Strong, Rollo, Egill Skallagrímsson, Sigurđr Fafnírsbani, and Snorri Sturlusson. Need I say more? Yes? Well, some will say that nord warriors fight like heroes. I would argue that heroes fight like nord warriors.
I would gladly accept Imperial race, though it would not be my first choice. I’d be the best solution to taking down the Thalmor, at the center of civilization and be part of Emperor Picard’s legacy. Nuff said. Also possibly Dagail and Janus Hasildor are still alive, so I would have good company.
Make it so... though i'd prefer being an orc.. i don't like big cities so a small stronghold would be more my cup of tea.. on top of that i relate the most to the orcs.. i played as an orc my first playtrough of skyrim and because i've always had dumb strenght growing up (basically i was alot stronger than all of the other kids) and i've also always been left out and called a wierdo or an outsider.. so it's only sensible that i'd be an orc i'd prefer a weapon i could bash someone's head in with over a flimsy dagger or some magic anyday
i had a friend in high school like you and he was my best friend, because we would nerd the FUCK OUT, about lore and roleplay hardcore. thanks for the video.
Went with Imperial as my first choice because their magic & might in-game description appealed to me, and later experimented with all the skills as a jack-of-any-stats, as I was figuring out Skyrim's varied playstyles Now, my half-Nibenese, half-Colovian Imperial Battlemage is my main Dragonborn, negotiating for peace but able to bring the pain if need be Side Note: Voice of the Emperor ability is really super helpful during the In My Time of Need & Diplomatic Immunity quests, especially if little to no perk points in the Illusion skill tree
What I don't understand is why a power like Voice of the Emperor was no weaponized, imagine that during a skirmish with the Stormcloaks the Imperial soldiers begin to use it in waves to calm everbody, leading to other who were strategically out of range to kill the Stormcloaks. Unlike other racial powers that affect only this is one that affects everybody else and all Imperials have it.
I play as an Imperial escaping from the more and more multicultural Cyrodil, joining the Stormcloaks and securing a position of power for myself and my offspring that I will have with Lydia.

@@ESMengu Bretons is basically all of France and all of Britain thrown together, especially the Welsh and the Bretons the Bretons are named after.

Greece was second to Rome , and at some point was even more important than western parts.
For the Empire, hermano
Being a Nord or Redguard sounds more epic, but being an Imperial probably gives more opportunities. Like being a jack of all trades, versus a master of one. You're less specialized, but you can do several things well instead of just one thing really good.
I doubt that the makers of Skyrim would give more opportunities to one side and not the other. It wouldn’t be a popular game otherwise
Imperials still good at grinding
You have no desire to join either side of the civil war too again with the reason that you like neither of those bigoted idiot.
cannot agree more
In many of my playthroughs in Skyrim i imagine my imperial character as a descendant of Uriel Septim VII (through one of his eldest sons), or even Reman Cyrodil, and also imagine that after the events of the game my dragonborn became emperor and annihilated the Thalmor in the second great war, bringing back Summerset isles under the empire.
@@Tarooo89 Agreed, a stable economy and good logistics wins wars.
As far as I can tell besides the Voice of the Emperor ability being an Imperial is literally no different from being a human besides finding more coins.

Hey I wouldn't argue
Hard to believe elves were descendants from the aedra after hearing all about their torture methods
Tells you something about Auriel and his cronies perhaps. Or maybe it suggests that the elf origin story is not entirely true and perhaps the elves are a little more low born than the Altmer would like to have us believe.
I dunno, that sounds very god-like to me... Just not a benevolent one.
There skirts are professional in my opinion
I'm a go a Athena warrior secret mage lore build
Imperials are the best of the worlds of the Breton and Redguards: Youll be able to cast magic, although not as potent as elves or Breton. And your swordarm is still pretty decent, even if your not a Nordic Chad.

Even if it has failed, it will rise again. It fell before and septim brought it back again.
I'd definitely pick imperial. I feel like they have the highest chance of living a normal life. Also, if I'm gonna be fighting, legion would be my preference. Everyone's racist to the beast folk, and elves are dicks, so Def imperial for me
What's nice about Cyrodil is that it has a bit of all the other provinces' cultures.

True. My character is a Colovian Crusader ascended to Paladin in Oblivion after obtaining the Divine Crusader armor
This is literally the best answer in the whole video.
Why be a imperial? Be polite, persuasive and able to get rich quick without being a pathetic thieving Khajiit.
Many years later, I hope you're both well, but what an utterly excellent answer. For the empire my fellow legionnaire, hope your sword arm isn't too flabby and you've been caring for your armor. Only 1 free outfit per soldier after all!
Excuse me is there any downside to being part of the Greatest Civilzation to Ever Exist?

@@TheSpiritsLease Bonuses to Speechcraft are why Imperials get women and the other races get leftovers.
*glances at Camilla* There's got to be more where that came from right?
Right?
I'll get my coat.
Cool character. I'd love to watch you do rp of that character.

Bu-Ki, GloveMan, Zinja, KungFu, The Turk, Raymond Karl. What More Needs To Be Said?...
NEVER stop doing these videos. Pls
Once we get to the Non-playable races i wanna know if being a Sload is worth it.
I pick a woodelf that has joined the imperial army shortly after the end of the three banners war to escape the wrath of Tiber septim
>enter fantasy world where you can be anything
>choose to be human
Am I the only one who hears the old Talos bro, screaming in Whiterun, wail "assman" as part of his speech?
LOL well not really because i usually kill him as soon as i have some money to my name.. a small fee for a silent whiterun in my opinion
I love your videos and I've done a few of your builds and it's amazing thank you
I really appreciate how much work and research you put into these videos. Please keep it up.
@@litchtheshinigami8936ok?
i had a friend in high school like you and he was my best friend, because we would nerd the FUCK OUT, about lore and roleplay hardcore. thanks for the video.
Amazing video as always:)
Please, Dunmer next!
Went with Imperial as my first choice because their magic & might in-game description appealed to me, and later experimented with all the skills as a jack-of-any-stats, as I was figuring out Skyrim's varied playstyles
Now, my half-Nibenese, half-Colovian Imperial Battlemage is my main Dragonborn, negotiating for peace but able to bring the pain if need be
Side Note: Voice of the Emperor ability is really super helpful during the In My Time of Need & Diplomatic Immunity quests, especially if little to no perk points in the Illusion skill tree
Thank you for doing Imperial :)
Being dremora is definitely worth it.
I say I would like it if you did a worth it video on the kahjit and I belive many others would be pleased
I am an imperial irl, I literally live 60 kms away from Rome.
I'm Mediterranean born. Hard not to be an Imperial, it's just in my blood!
please do a whole series on this all the way through for every race
