It's not really laziness, more like being casual gamer. IT was shown best in one discussion where I was accused to not be tru fan of sth as I don't have tons of gadgets and expert knowledge about shit. I've replied simply pointing out that other guy spend like 90% of money and 95% time on it, while my main concern is to work at m field of studies and most things I read is about psychology. Also I spend like more of my free cash on that. Skyrim is so massive you can put it together only if it's your job. Or you are like junior high school pupil. High school if you don't have too high ambitions.
I don't think it will be the main focus, (that would probably be what Outside Context problem Bethesda comes up with that throws everyone off) but I figure that a "Second Great War" would be the backdrop for an ES6.
@@coolboiztoyzxl7261 are you new to the Internet? There are troll's everywhere someone could've said "emperor* dumbass" but I corrected him before that happened.
The general rule of warfare in The Elder Scrolls is that Elves always seem like they’ll dominate and overpower mankind...until they only have an average of 2 children every 500 years (and the purity-obsessed thalmor kill most babies anyways). Higher birth rate and shorter lifespan is a hell of a drug
The same thing almost eradicated the elves of the Witcher universe. They could only reproduce when young and when they went to war a majority of their birthing population died. Men always win when it comes to reproduction and lives to throw away in war.
In the words of the Sharmat Dagoth Ur "Men make horrible farm tools. They have a habit of breaking free and rebelling in the most violent way possible. Atleast Khajiit and Argonians are content with slavery, and that one war in the Red Year was merely consequential"
Reason to side with the Empire: After the negotiations of Season Unending, you know who cared about the Dragonborn's goals and were really concerned about the dragons? Balgruuf and Tulius. Tulius even said "surely you thought about the little detail" on how you will trap Ohdaviing in Dragonsreach. Where the fuck was Ulfric? He left immediately after he got what he wanted.
Honestly I also think tulius comes off better than ulfric but there is also a wider context and we see it in the game. Corruption, maven the scourge of riften becomes yarl. An empire can't beat back an enemy if someone opens the gate. I still wonder why the empire threw the towel I'm when the alderi dominion lost entire armies and was also war fatigued. Then their is the assassination of the emperor plot. The empire seems rotten to the core and a shadow of its past self. At least the storm cloaks are highly motivated to fight the elves
@@Tommonius I mean they were going to cut your head off over walking into Skyrim and Tulius was just going to sit there and watch as you, an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time, were executed without a trial.
@@jaredfrancis5062 very true and the reason many including myself went for stormcloaks. but then you learn the alderi doinion are keeping the war going and they were planning to stop the execution of ulfric to keep a stalemate. @@Tommonius I recognize as much. He was looking at the bigger picture but either way your actions break the stalemate but Tulius also allowed for the Thalmor to actively hunt Talos worshippers as well as torture them in their prison. When you go to rescue Graymane's son you find a letter in the Battpeborn home that indicates Tulius knowingly allowed the Thalmor to imprison and torture civilians.

I wonder if he meant it like... the emperor, when we meet him, is powerful in title only because no one really has respect for him at this point. After the negotiations leading to the loss of Talos Worship and a further decaying empire, his title was all he had. He has no real power and very few committed followers. Tullius is easily the more influential person in the game empire side.
@@mellowyello1478 no he is not People who don't respect the Empire don't respect Tullius either, unless some close friends but there is few of them Any way you turn it, the Emperor is more powerful
Theoretically, since Tullius knows you’re the Dragonborn, and the most powerful being in existence outside the deadric princes and the 9 divines, you, the dragonborn, could singlehandedly wipe out the thalmor in its entirety if tullius asks you to do so. You can command dragons and force enemies to flee in terror, command legions of animals and drain your enemies of magic, stamina and health. So by all means, if you chose to side with the empire, and tullius asks you to do that, it will be straight child’s play for the player. The Thalmor’s worst nightmare. Just a thought.
It would make a stellar additional dlc or mod, but I'd find it pretty unlikely either of those will ever happen... but nonetheless I'd love an additional (albeit probably massive) addition that lets us venture some ways into cyrodiil and lead the empire's armies in huge wars on the thalmor
@Joël become bloodkin and ride into battle with the orcs. They're the best combat warriors and their smithing is top notch. In silence double your recruitment in the dark brotherhood and infiltrate the thalmor with assassin's . Yuh already kill the emperor go kill the thalmor emperor too and have your dragons and miraak waiting outside for any thalmor trying to escape. Yuh can get loud or stay silent. This game is the greatest 😂
Legit, General Tullius is the empires best general/tactician in my opinion. How he talked about not wanting to weaken their Capital and that they are rounding up men to get ready for a war with the Thalmor. Knowing this made me love the Empire even more than before.
And the fact that he essentially told Ellenwen to fugg off while he was about to execute Ulfric to stop the civil war is a nother reason i root for him...he is pragmatic and he weighs his options...even tho we almost got executed if it wasnt for alduin coming out of nowhere
@@robertjethrogallano1053 And the execution of the LDB wasn't something Tullius decided, it was just a low ranking incompetent captain who couldn't see the obviously out of place person there. Instead of executing Ulfric first and moving down the chain of command, decided to start with some no-name stormcloak.... leaving the potentially not Stormcloaks for last. Just sayin' if that same captain had ordered Ulfric's death first... would have solved a lot of problems.

I'd love to see the Thalmor back as primary antagonists in ES6. If it takes place in Valenwood or Elswyr or Summerset Isles our role could be that of freedom fighter. Or in true ES fashion we could roleplay as a Thalmor agent and work for them. It would be cool. I'm hoping we'll get to take part somehow in the second Great War. I'll be disappointed if we have another 200 year time skip and only get to read about it in more history books.
General Tullius actually does have cut dialogue of him talking to the High Elves during that moment. He even was suppose to join you and Hadvar during your escape of Helgen, and has cut dialogue of that too. The only problem is the only version of the dialogue we have is in German.
@@Sparkero- ruclips.net/video/VQHqxR55JhM/видео.htmlsi=fMyXC1J-W5-iS85r found it. I was never sure if this was 100% true, I'll admit, but I mean, if Ulfric was originally going to escape, why wouldn't Tullius?
@@Sparkero- already found the video that has the audio. It looks to already have been translated as well. A short version of it is him telling the high elves that this execution is going to happen, and they are not going to intervene. There is also some dialogue between him and a version of Hadvar with a different voice actor during the escape. My guess is they decided to change the voice for Hadvar before releasing the game. The video was posted 3 years ago by Publick Gamer
Many members of the Thalmor and the Aldmeri Dominion also reference the Great War as the First War against the Empire. This heavily implies the Dominion is outright planning a second Great War.
Not to mention you can talk with Eo-what's-her-face's second in command and he mentions how the Concordant is nothing more than a pause before the Thalmor wipe out the Empire.
Elynwen: "You're gonna regret this. By order of the White Gold Concordat-" Tulius and the Stormcloaks he captured: "I think you mean the White *Brown* Concordat, because I wiped my ass with it!"
One thing I wished Bethesda added into to the Stormcloak victory, purging the Thalmor out of Skyrim. It never made since that they were allowed to stay.
the stormcloaks exist because the thalmor need them to weaken the empire - Infighting/devide and conquer (they planted the seed of doubt in ulfric when he was captured during the great war, turning him into a religious zealot that is easily manipulated) the stormcloaks are literally working for the thalmor's benefit without realizing it and will be easily destroyed when they're not needed any more.
@@Lizzifer7 your reasoning could make sense (i guess) *only* DURING the civil war, but even *if* AFTER the Stormcloaks were to win the civil war and kick the empire out of Skyrim? No, if Skyrim becomes independently led by the Stormcloaks, that's where your point stops being true. The Stormcloaks (ESPECIALLY if they got the Dragonborn on their side) would *immediately* purge the Thalmor, or at least also repel them out of Skyrim, lore wise. It's most likely just game mechanics that some of them still remain after a Stormcloak victory so we can go to their Embassy so we can keep killing them and looting their armors and weapons. The doubt was already in Ulfric when he noticed they (the empire) were starting to lose against the Thalmor during The Great War, the Thalmor just planted that extra seed of doubt like you said, to make it worse. Almost everybody in The Elder Scrolls universe are religious: the empire, the Thalmor, the Stormcloaks, the Redguards, Dunmer, Argonians, Khajiit, Bretons, and Orcs, so idk what your trying to make your point about him being religious when *almost* everybody else in TES is. Maybe so, but the imperials are *absolutely* NOT saints either when it comes to that, even if Ulfric was manipulated, *at least* he doesn't knowingly and publicly make "peace treaties" with them and build the Thalmor literal *embassies* right by his capital faction's city. If the Stormcloaks are supposedly "working for the Thalmor's benefit", then why do they all speak with complete hatred towards them and will try to kill any of them on sight during Skyrim? 🤨 I'm pretty dang sure the imperial soldiers are genuinely working for the Thalmor's benefit too tho when in random encounters out in the wilderness, you can definitely see them do the *same* exact deeds their Thalmor overlords do by arresting and marching Talos worshippers off to a prison to most likely be interrogated, tortured and killed. Perhaps, but at least the Stormcloaks would much rather be destroyed WITHOUT sacrificing any of their beliefs or laws JUST to please their enemies like the imperials did. But by your logic, the empire would most certainly be easily destroyed as well since they literally almost were at the end of The first Great War, hence why their cowardly, weak emperor wanted to sign a peace treaty with The Aldmeri Dominion. And if the empire ALREADY technically lost once, then there's a very big chance they'll lose again to the A.D in the future.
@@car6697 Good point, but you fail to realize that in the matter of war, having large amounts of territory under your influence also means having a larger resource pool, be it natural resources, workmanship, trained soldiers, points of attack, etc. Divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book for very large foes, because once you divide them, you conquer them any way you need, be it annihilating them, forcing them into submitting to your politics, forging alliances, etc. Now think with me for a second: The Stormcloaks (SCKs) wins the war. Then for a moment, they group themselves to kick out the Thalmor forces, after all they have no say in a nation unrelated to the Empire so no White-Gold Concordat shit to piss off the damn Nords. Great success, they have the Dragonborn with them. But the A.D. didn't care, because now they're preparing for a war against the weakened Imperials. But here things gets interesting! Because your SCKs already got what they wanted, emancipated from the Empire, and has no Thalmor strolling around like they own the place anymore, so they can't care less if and when the A.D will face the Empire. When it eventually happens, the SCKs likely won't join forces with the Empire, given they're extreme nationalists and was battle enemies. The A.D then wins against them in various battles, taking their land, their resources, their people, and so on. Now imagine the A.D with the most menacing war tactics and influence with a territory almost twice times larger than Skyrim, ready to declare war to annex the Nords and submit them into slavery. You can be a great Dragonborn but you're not two or three or a small unit, just someone well versed in screaming against a continent's worth of war resources. Guess who'll have a *BAD TIME* preventing that to happen! Not only that, but the odds to annihilate the supremacist A.D is now forever lost, just because the Dragonborn is pissed at General Tullius for wanting their head (I mean, come on, the man got you and some folk crossing the border in the middle of a civil war along with the head of the rebels). Don't underestimate the potential of D&C, history shows us it is VERY effective and the possibility of its use must be readily taken account. That alone should have been enough to Ulfric to stop the rebellion and help the Empire bust the A.D if he wasn't so busy trying to sit on the High King's throne.

In the begging of the game when you watch that little boy have his dad die by Alduin, you can save him by running up to his wing before he breathes fire causing Alduin to just fly away.
after watching this I want to start a new playthrough as a high elf woman, start in thalmor embassy as disillusioned thalmor agent with alternate start mod, grab roggvir's amulet of talos and join the imperial legion..
I'm more than sure that the Thalmor isn't going to start a war while the Dragonborn is walking around. @@BLOrtega, it’d probably be ignited by the empire in all honesty, and why wouldn’t they call the aid of the Dragonborn? It’s another war and one with more intensity than the previous Great War because the Empire was severely weakened, I think it’s justified that they would call the Dragonborn. And it’s possible that the Canon Dragonborn would be morally good. While some actions will be unjust, there is always bad in the good from the understanding we have of the Yin and the Yang, and some of the dialogue options have a more Yin aspect, as someone who wants the best for the Empire, Stormcloaks, or whatever.

The thing about Elder Scrolls lore, especially with the events of various factions. Is that while the PLAYER may not participate in them, the next game tends to reveal that such events did happen. I do think Skyrim's cival war is an exception to this, due to the main questline's "Season Unending" quest, in which both sides make a temporary peace. I do think in TES 6, we will se several key events from Skyrim show up in lore. Main one's being the obvious return of the dragonborn and his defeat of Alduin, but equally as important ones as factions like the Theives Guild is on the rise, while the Dark Brotherhood also becomes more popular due to their assassination of the Emperor. I also expect to see a bit about the Eye of Magnus and maybe even the return of the Physjic Order. Because while it may not have been the Dragonborn to do these things. SOMEONE will have completed these things and their events tend to be canon in the lore
To be fair, the Great War ended about 25 years ago. So it makes sense that General Tullius’s voice could be more youthful in Legends than when we meet him in Skyrim

Airock what do YOU think would be more likely to destroy the Thalmor? a small group of Nords or an entire army of Tamriel citizens? Besides, if the redguards truly beat the Thalmor, why is there still Thalmor? The true victory is NOT to just get the Thalmor out of Skyrim, but to completely wipe them off the face of Tamriel!!!
seriously, we're spending WAY too much time arguing about this! It's not even the main focus of the game! OK. I suggest we find something we can agree on. Killing dragons is fun
Airock the Great In cannon the main character usually disappears after the story and the main character likely won’t take a canon side in the war like other factions from previous games

If General Tullius wasn’t a strong, principled leader who would do anything and everything to protect the Empire and Skyrim against the Thalmor, they would be much weaker. If he weren’t operating in Skyrim, things would be markedly worse for the Nords. What the Empire has needed is a strong, moral, and unwavering leader who is dedicated to unifying all of Tamriel.
Couldn't agree more, meanwhile you have dumb as a sack of rocks ulfric. I like how ulfric is so absolutely oblivious to literally everything going around him, he's a puppet yet for some reason he thinks he's fighting for freedom. The thalmor purposely banned talos worship to tick the nords.
@@jamesbudd3096 If you side with the Stormcloaks Tullius states how the Dominion are the real enemies and manipulating them yet Ulfric doesn't acknowledge that part, all he does is say something about how his little rebellion isn't so small.
J 19 i’d say the ban of Talos worship has multiple layers of reasoning: from a religious point it is a decision to appeal to their (the dominion’s) citizen, because Talos is a HUMAN god, and thus not recognized by elves or Khajit. Banning him would likely garner support for their cause and make those citizens more willing to pay for any wars. Another facet is the fact that it simultaneously denounces humans and as a clause in the peace treaty it serves to humiliate the Empire, by forcing them to go against their own citizens because of it. Basically knocking down humanity’s arrogance a peg. Politically the ban also serves to destabilize the Empire’s relationship with its vassal states as evident in Skyrim’s civil war. And as Nate explained, there is good reason to want the Empire as split as possible.
@@illyavenias5944 No, that was the Imperial Captain's decision to execute you despite Hadvar pointing out that you shouldn't have been there to begin with
I realize this isn't really a "normal" video idea for this channel, but I would be incredibly into a "History of the Elder Scrolls" type video from you, Nate. Just listening to you talk about the history of the Great War was deeply intriguing and engaging for me!
In my headcanon, when the main quest line of Skyrim was over the Dragonborn would take part in the 2nd Great War, even possibly becoming a new potential Emperor. I mean the Skyrim main quest, really would put the Dragonborn front and centre in Imperial politics no matter which side they chose in the Stormcloak Rebellion.
Here's a tiny detail I haven't seen covered yet. Last playthorugh I was in the temple of Mara and heard the priests talking to each other about being in a relationship and the dark elf who gives you the matchmaking quests being pregnant! I did have a few mods (on PS4) enabled so they may have unlocked the dialogue but it was still a fully voiced conversation that the VA's recorded so it could still be cannon. I never spent much time in the temple so i hadn't noticed before. If cannon she could be the only pregnant person we see in the game!
There's the blacksmith's wife in dawnstar and also the woman who works for the silver-blood family. She's the wife of eltrys, the man who was trying to solve the forsworn conspiracy in markarth and was assassinated for it.
When I played Skyrim on my Xbox 360 almost 9 years ago, I always sided with the Stormcloaks, now that I'm able to see the bigger picture, I'm beginning to regret that decision, as I only ever made choices based on what I thought was the right thing to do.
I remember General Tullius alluding to a second war with the Dominion, saying that he "has a feeling that (imperial troops) will be called to arms again soon", or something like that at the end of the civil war quest line. I have an older version of Skyrim on an outdated PC I haven't been using lately.
i remember when Skyrim was released back in 2011, literally nobody of my friends were going for the Empire. they all were like "Thalmor is bad, Sons of Skyrim are cool, Ulfric is the king of Skyrim, Skyrim for the nords", etc. who's laughing now? no, i wasn't in the chess club.
asiling rose I was 12 when I first started playing the game. At that naive stage I insisted that the Stormcloaks were the rightful heirs of Skyrim, and that the Empire was a failed attempt at resistance that kowtowed to the Thalmor and oppressed its own citizens. Now I see how stupid I was. Humanity needs to stick together while they recuperate their losses and ready themselves for round 2. Fighting amongst ourselves is exactly what the Thalmor want.
I would love to see a Elder Scrolls game in the future where the Dominion, Pact and Covenant where battling it out for control. Like realm vs realm combat and we could actually capture provinces and such. That would have to be a mmo but it could work for single player as well. Single player would be helping to conquer Tamriel. Choose your faction and help that faction win it all!
I don't know if you've covered this, but did you know that in Hungarian, Farkas translates to Wolf, and in Lithuanian, Vilkas translates to Wolf, which means the two iconic brothers of the companions are named Wolf which is pretty cool in my opinion
1. General Tulius likes to play with rubber duck while bathing 2. And al other empire officers too. Plus they all actually wore light pink string panties. 3. Empire is actually puppet of Thamor after Thalmor agent discovered that Tulius like to wear bra when no one watches.
The empire isn’t being blackmailed all the empire is doing is obeying a temporary peace treaty they agreed to with the Thalmor but that doesn’t make them puppets either what Nemo said is just blatant fallacy.
This is why I side with the empire. The storm cloaks have the right to worship as they see fit but if the elves can defeat the entire empire, it could certainly defeat and annex east Skyrim. The empire already fought for Skyrim's right to worship Talos and the empire lost. So I help the empire but if I come across Thalmor with no empire soldiers with them - well let's say I end up with lots of elfin armor and weapons to sell or use in smithing.
My thought is what if you mentioned that during the meeting like “ bro we all hate the Thalmor let’s end this war and just build our forces”. I know they have an ambassador but just kick her to the curb. While continuing a proxy war with minimum casualties
By the Nine, I had so many arguments with my friends on who it was best to side with in Skyrim. They were all Stormcloak fans, while I was firmly on the side of the Empire. They brought out all the cliches about 'Skyrim for the Nords' and 'The Empire is just the bitches of the Thalmor' and so forth and so on. I tried explaining the political situation and how the Empire was only appearing to kowtow to the Thalmor for the time being, and that even the ban on Talos worship wasn't a big deal at first. (talk to Alvor after escaping Helgen with Hadvar) It was when Ulfric took Markarth from the damnable Forsworn scum that shit hit the fan in that regard. Thalmor likely didn't even have a presence in Skyrim(beyond spies and such) until Ulfric demanded the ban on Talos worship be lifted in return for the city. One of my friends is now a police officer, and when presented with the facts, is now beginning to see that my support of the Empire was not unfounded. The others have not relented in their support of the Stormcloaks, despite the evidence. Thank you for this video.
Maybe , but the lady Elisif has a stronger claim to the throne . The moot chooses but given how most Jarls ( If you include Balgruuf ) are pro-Imperial she would win unless the Stormcloaks defeat the empire .
Love this channel, I've always sided with the Stormcloak with a few characters who were neutral, but after a few of your videos I've reinstalled and making a pro Imperial character.

I think that the empire would’ve had a better chance if they knew of the armies coming. Seems the empires weakness wasn’t just military but lack of intelligence on the Thalmor

Siding with the empire is my go to choice every time. Most of the time I'm not playing as a Nord and I don't see a reason to fight for a faction oppressing my characters race. Also, Ulfric is actively helping the Thalmor to win the war in the long run, even if he may not want it to happen. But Skyrim by itself can't defeat the dominion alone. I'm still hoping that the empire regains it's fromer strength and kicks some Thalmor butts.
which character race are you? because the nords dont oppress anyone, certainly no more than the empire. They let dunmer have an entire section of their city, no one forces them to be there. If your a khajit than legit everyone oppress you because they see your kind as thieves. If your an argonian no one really likes you but other argonians, and the dunmer hate argonians for the most part. If your an imperial i suppose the stormcloaks semi-dislike you but thats because their at war with your empire, they dont really have strong opinions about the rest of the human races, at worse mild racism for some nords here and there, but nothing unified. Also if your siding with the empire, your directly siding with oppressors mind you its the empire that lets people walk throughout skyrim killing its citizens, and denying them their own religion. You can claim they have to or some other reason, but at the end of the day they are the jackboot that allows skyrims citizens to be killed for worshiping their god.(not to mention the likely countless non-talos worshipers killed just because thalmor hate mankind).
It would make for a really interesting plot twist if you could present the Thalmor documents detailing their plans to either the stormcloacks or the Empire
I was a Stormcloak, but I have seen the light. I will fight to strengthen our position against the Thalmor until I take an arrow to a place that everybody knows always ends adventuring careers.
I never understood why would anyone who played the previous TES games side with the Stormcloaks. The Empire was, most of the time, the "good" guys of the series. And Thalmor is definitely evil. What chances does independent Skyrim have against them if the Empire BARELY survived the war? And well, the Septim Empire dragon is TES' symbol. No way Ulfric's win will be canon in TES 6 lol.
Well, the typical Stormcloak supporter reply would be the following: (This is based on countless comments I have read on RUclips and on Reddit) 1.) If Hammerfell can mount a resistance, why can't we? 2.) We have the Dragonborn and he can wreck any invading force 3.) Empire is corrupt and are puppets of the Thalmor. look at Maven and Amaund Mottiere hurr hurr 4.) Stormcloaks will just join the Imperial Army once the war with Thalmor starts but as an Independent nation. 5.) Talos is with us 6.) Ulfric will send offers of an Alliance to High Rock and Hammerfell. Fuck the Empire. 7.) *Insert bullshit headcanon*
Hey Nate, in tiny details #37 you brought up the skeleton wielding two picks that died in front of an iron ore vein in bleak falls barrow. The dual pickaxes is most likely referencing John Henry, the hero of the original man vs machine poem, who after besting his foe at mining and such collapsed and died.
The elder scrolls has almost as much lore as the real life, i wonder what things will be added at the new elder scrolls games in the future And we'll miss you ocato, rest in peace
Hey Nate. I hope you read this because I found an awesome bug in the game you haven't mentioned already. If you are on Solstheim read a black book. When you are in apocrypha read an elder scroll. Then go back to Solstheim and you will notice that the Sky turned green just like in Moras Dimension! Also, remember the black book in which you are surrounded by damaging darkness? If you try the bug with this particular book then the dark effect will also follow you to Solstheim. But there it just harms you whether day or night and the lightspell doesn't Stop it. The bug will stop if you wait for some hours.

Reason to side with the Empire:
After the negotiations of Season Unending, you know who cared about the Dragonborn's goals and were really concerned about the dragons?

Definitely a quote that needs to resurface in the elder scrolls franchise .
By order of the White Gold Concordat-"
Tulius and the Stormcloaks he captured: "I think you mean the White *Brown* Concordat, because I wiped my ass with it!"
The Senile Scribbles?

@@BLOrtega, it’d probably be ignited by the empire in all honesty, and why wouldn’t they call the aid of the Dragonborn?

Realizing that the Empire is about to go kill the Thalmor takes any possible argument away from Stormcloaks.
Rex Magi pretty much!
Airock the Great I just hate how all the stormcloaks are so damn racist. But, I admit, neither side is perfect
seriously, we're spending WAY too much time arguing about this! It's not even the main focus of the game! OK. I suggest we find something we can agree on. Killing dragons is fun
Airock the Great In cannon the main character usually disappears after the story and the main character likely won’t take a canon side in the war like other factions from previous games
When Nate mentioned the Thalmor were supplying the Stormcloaks, did anyone else suspect the Summerset Shadows in being complicit?
That's a plausible theory
That would actually make sense, given their proximity to Windhelm.
Yep make sense
I hope TESVI is gonna be about Empire fighting Thalmore for Hammerfell with some local redguard rebels fighting both of them... Next TES has a lot of potential for good lore main quest!
"The highest ranking Imperial official we can meet"
The Emperor: Am I a joke to you?
Yes
Mace of Molag Bal and Black Star: yes
I love you, your voice your content, your mods, your videos, your graphics, your tone, your patience, your mom, your use of vocabulary, your mood, your polls, your creativity, and your love for skyrim
I could literally listen to you narrate everything for my entire day. "murdered to death" is actually my favorite line to use ever.
It's so cool that one book at the Thalmor Embassy adds so much depth to the intro. Very immersive storytelling.
I think the Thalmor mainly banned Talos worship because they hate him and because they want to destroy humanity.
Agreed
Tullius does have a response to Elenwen.... It's revealed in the Civil War Overhaul. He just ignores her commands, telling her he can't do that.
You mean a mod?
Not sure if we should count that dude
Instead he stubborn nearly succeeded to kill the player first and end this game from the very beginning.
@@illyavenias5944 No, that was the Imperial Captain's decision to execute you despite Hadvar pointing out that you shouldn't have been there to begin with
@@JargonMadjin it's an unused but recorded dialogue that several mods reused to give more context on what is actually happening
@@impreza0109 Ok
I realize this isn't really a "normal" video idea for this channel, but I would be incredibly into a "History of the Elder Scrolls" type video from you, Nate. Just listening to you talk about the history of the Great War was deeply intriguing and engaging for me!
THANK YOU!!!! The first fact is sooooo important and most players don't know about it or ignore it. You sir are a great man.
So I have hundreds of hours on Skyrim and I just found out about “The Society of Mercantile Freedom in Riften”
When I played Skyrim on my Xbox 360 almost 9 years ago, I always sided with the Stormcloaks, now that I'm able to see the bigger picture, I'm beginning to regret that decision, as I only ever made choices based on what I thought was the right thing to do.
its quite literally the "naive youth getting tricked into war" trope
I remember General Tullius alluding to a second war with the Dominion, saying that he "has a feeling that (imperial troops) will be called to arms again soon", or something like that at the end of the civil war quest line. I have an older version of Skyrim on an outdated PC I haven't been using lately.
Also the storm cloaks are like rebels who think they are freeing the people but are just jeopardizing and hurting them more.
i remember when Skyrim was released back in 2011, literally nobody of my friends were going for the Empire. they all were like "Thalmor is bad, Sons of Skyrim are cool, Ulfric is the king of Skyrim, Skyrim for the nords", etc. who's laughing now?
no, i wasn't in the chess club.
asiling rose I was 12 when I first started playing the game.
I don’t know, this title seems EXTRA long today
Even better
If you read it backwards, it's the same
I would love to see a Elder Scrolls game in the future where the Dominion, Pact and Covenant where battling it out for control.
Next should be “Top 5 Things the Empire DON’T Want You to Know”
1. General Tulius likes to play with rubber duck while bathing
2. And al other empire officers too. Plus they all actually wore light pink string panties.
3. Empire is actually puppet of Thamor after Thalmor agent discovered that Tulius like to wear bra when no one watches.
@@Petaurista13 4. Empire is being blackmailed by Thalmor
Long live the emperor! Wait a second...
Yep, that was what the note stabbed into the back of the Emperor said.
... at least the Assassin was a patriot
@@thoruszwolf4153 Technically the Emperor ordered his own soldier to kill him if the Dragonborn side with the Empire
My thought is what if you mentioned that during the meeting like “ bro we all hate the Thalmor let’s end this war and just build our forces”. I know they have an ambassador but just kick her to the curb. While continuing a proxy war with minimum casualties
Ocato's story was so interesting! Damn Thalmor
I just love your Videos and cant get enough of them. There are Always interessting
(talk to Alvor after escaping Helgen with Hadvar)
It was when Ulfric took Markarth from the damnable Forsworn scum that shit hit the fan in that regard.
Its amazing how you still find things to post on skyrim and its more surprising I dont know all of then
Man your Detail in the video is great, sifting through the Texts and books of Skyrim. Well done 👍🏼

Stormcloak’s: alright whose writing these down, detail people.
Love this channel, I've always sided with the Stormcloak with a few characters who were neutral, but after a few of your videos I've reinstalled and making a pro Imperial character.
You know id love to see a video like this about some of the small factions of the game, the summerset shadows, the blood horkers, the pirates of japhet’s folly etc
I think that the empire would’ve had a better chance if they knew of the armies coming. Seems the empires weakness wasn’t just military but lack of intelligence on the Thalmor
If memory serves they had a magical artifact that let them out maneuver the empire, which was destroyed near the end of the war.
14:06 This little line is why I will always support an Imperial ending for the Civil War questline.
Can you imagine how amazing it will be to fight in a war with the Thalmor!
... you like seeing that General Tullius disapproves of the Emperors peace treaty with the Thalmor o.O? Stormcloaks are better in every way, if, you don't like the Thalmor that is.
@@thoruszwolf4153 I like that it shows that the the Empire is only bidding its time until the next war with the Dominion. Which is different from what the Stormcloaks think which is that the Empire just surrendered for no reason.
@@CaporegimeMarcus I believe the quote is just hinting at Tullius's rebellious stance, as he even tells you in game that a lot of what Ulfric says about the Empire is true, and that he himself is tempted to join them, but feels bound by his loyalty to the Empire
Thorus Zwolf They are both building up their strength for a second Great War
@@ravedubin3983 only the Dominion is building up, as the treaty with the Thalmor has seen to the rapid decline in Imperial support and power... it would have been much better to defeat the Dominion back when they had no armies left rather than spend several decades defending and financing them while they rebuilt their destroyed military
I knew about the dossiers.. but all the rest was new! It never ceases to amaze me with how much new content you manage to find!
I was honestly looking foward to a video today 🥳
The empire strikes back.
There, I said it.
I didn't know the Empire was getting ready for a rematch with the Thalmor, but thank Talos they are! Hopefully by Elder Scrolls VI the Thalmor will be little more than a bad memory
They will lose the second great war, because the empire had a secret weopon who will erase literally ALL THE ALDMERI DOMINION and this weopon is THE DRAGONBORN,The New emperor
Lone Wanderer I can't see The Dragon born being an emperor. He/she is too much of an adventurer to settle down. However, I do see him/her fighting in the second great war. The death of the Thalmor is coming!! 😀😀
Lone Wanderer in canon in all the elder scrolls game the main character disappears shortly after the events of the game.
If I remember correctly, there actually IS some of Tullius’s dialogue from the opening scene with Elenwen, I believe, in the German version? He basically just says “these are my prisoners, I won’t hand them over, etc.”
Been on a binge of these videos, such a fun time.
Thanks Nate, that was fun and informative--you shared some great insights. All the best!
Anyone who sides with the stormcloaks probably says "I have a friend whos a dark elf!"
You traitor
Typically I join the Imperials, but my current file (a Dragonborn Altmer) is debating on joining the Stormcloaks. Mostly because he’s a rebellious teenager who ran away from Sommerset Isles and his family, though.
this was the best one yet. i love that so much was out there and I had no idea. the forgotten hero is kinda sad, saves the day and no one remembers you/me/us. kinda makes me want to play legends... kinda... Bethesda scares me.
also... can we get a part 2?
1Fanfanatick can someone tell me how is this “verified” in the legends?
And truly this makes me sad if it is based on something like ...legends...
Also absolutely part 2!!
While listening to Elenewn's unused dialog, I just now realized she has the same voice actress as Admiral Merlwyb from Final Fantasy XIV
It would make for a really interesting plot twist if you could present the Thalmor documents detailing their plans to either the stormcloacks or the Empire
"I wont fail in my dootee!"
Voo Doo I say that everytime I poop. 😅😅😅
nate with another amazing video love the content and keep it going!
Amazing how history repeats itself!!!
Ahhhh! I'm always ready to sit back relax and grab some Mead and watch the best guy on RUclips. I love skyrim, Blessed the savior, Todd Howard!
I was a Stormcloak, but I have seen the light. I will fight to strengthen our position against the Thalmor until I take an arrow to a place that everybody knows always ends adventuring careers.
Chris Collins I knew you meant the knee, but my mind says "you mean your nuts?"
Eric Owen I cant deny it crossed my mind when writing it 😂
I never understood why would anyone who played the previous TES games side with the Stormcloaks.
Well, the typical Stormcloak supporter reply would be the following:
(This is based on countless comments I have read on RUclips and on Reddit)
1.) If Hammerfell can mount a resistance, why can't we?
2.) We have the Dragonborn and he can wreck any invading force
3.) Empire is corrupt and are puppets of the Thalmor. look at Maven and Amaund Mottiere hurr hurr
4.) Stormcloaks will just join the Imperial Army once the war with Thalmor starts but as an Independent nation.
5.) Talos is with us
6.) Ulfric will send offers of an Alliance to High Rock and Hammerfell. Fuck the Empire.
7.) *Insert bullshit headcanon*
General Tullius voice card sounds like a character from metal gear
I always had a good feeling about the Empire. Good to know it wasnt just wishful thinking!
I was just playing Skyrim. I love your vids Nate. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for the next vid.
