Yeah Pilot Sport 4S are easily 1K or more with tax. With some Enkei RPF1 you’re looking at over $2500…shit is expensive (a little less for T5R’s tho). I know, I have a 22 BRZ and I’ve just been window shopping cuz frankly paying off the car takes priority. It’s annoying I have a base cuz I would’ve kept the original tires. Thin tires makes the tail happier.
For all the kids getting into cars, you always want to go with brakes, then tires unless you’re getting wheels in which case you go with the lightest wheels you can afford (Konig’s are great for this) and the best all season sport tires you can afford (Stay away from Pirelli’s they wear out extremely quickly, I recommend Continental DWS06+) if you get a decent amount of rain where you live, then you want to get either an intake and exhaust if your car handles really good like a stock BRZ, or suspension if your car is kind of soft and doesn’t handle great, from there you go to intake and exhaust. This applies to 90% of cars, just remember that reliability matters the most when you aren’t rich

Whoever buys an $800+ bumper lip/splitter, let alone of that size/volume. I remember buying a $80-90 generic one, with a $200+ carbon fiber one available, which I obv didn’t give a shit about. I ended up breaking that lip 3-4 times, but replaced it each time… Now imagine doing that with a “$800” splitter that won’t survive that much greater impact, crashing, etc. If they didn’t get dissuaded at first, they’re definitely never EVER gonna make that mistake/decision again. I’m running catless uel headers and an aftermarket intake on my gr86 with factory tune and no lights on the dash and have been for over a year now. I’m sure there is slight power loss but imo it rlly doesn’t matter the Car runs perfect and doesn’t feel sluggish at all
IMO hold off on the lip, get better header (preferably JDL as tomei has proven to take away some power on the new gen) and better coil overs, I’d recommend FA500’s

Our MAP exhaust doesn't drone hardly at all! It's by far one of the best exhausts we've ever designed and for sure our go to for someone looking for minimal drone.
New to this stuff... so sorry if I sound uninformed or arrogant, its not my intention... but I havent seen any videos of a gr86 with like over 250hp even with e85 and more. So I was surprised with what little improvement the tune plus mods provided. But with that tune and similar mods on a supra, you get like +50-200hp depending on the mods and tune. But the +50hp isnt even with flex fuel, and with flex fuel is +80-150hp with the right mods. Why is this? 😅 (ps - I know it's not right to compare gr86 and supra, I know they are very different, especially the engines, but I still don't understand why you can't achieve greater increase in hp with gr86) (ppss - it was my intention to sound uninformed... as I am. but not arrogant 🫠)
Nice! Five horsepower for $5,000... Sounds like a steal... putting these kind of mods on a GR86 feels like you don't understand what a GR86 is. fit and finishes the best part of this car and the engine putting out 228 horsepower should probably be prioritized over aesthetic only mods
@@rager7709 companies rate the power of vehicles at the crank. Most RWD vehicles have about a 10-13 percent loss of power by the time it hits the wheels. So yes while the car makes 228 crank, it only makes about 210-215 wheel. After a good set of headers and tune, you’re looking at about 225-230 whp
If it’s available don’t overlook E85 on these cars. I’m running E85 with a very generic tune and the difference for daily driving was amazing. I imagine with a flex fuel kit and ethanol sensors, the car would feel amazing. Depends what you’re after though, I’m trying to stay NA because I like predictability when I’m going fast in a turn.

For anyone thats buying the gr86 or the gt 86 the first thing you do is buy an aftermarket oil pump to avoid engine failure.
keep the stock intake & throw a k&n in, the stock intake is great from factory.
