    Today we are working on reviving a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. It's been abandoned and forgotten for around 5 years. Lets see if we can bring it back to life! We struggle through a remote hood release not working and having to pop the hood with a screw driver and then it's pretty much a cake walk from there with the exception of the battery location.

    Me and my family went on holiday to Florida in 2001 and hired an almost new 3.5 V6 Intrepid. It could really shift and was very reliable

    My uncle had a 2000 Dodge intrepid base model just like that one but it was blue in color, and cloth seats and all. He drove it the day he bought it until 2011 when a deer ran hit the side of it, and left a huge dent in the back-left door of the car, he drove it a few times, but then after he got a new 2010 Ford Taurus, he left it abandoned and rotting for 10 years outside my grandparent's garage, I did a tour of the car myself back in 2021 when it was already abandoned for years, the battery was certainly dead, moss was growing on the wheels, hood and roof, and the tires were deflated. It was only just recently when my grandfather decided to haul it off to a scrap-yard, because my uncle didn't really do anything with it and left it basically rotting in the hot sun and freezing cold winter for over 10 years. I don't know the full story, but I was told my uncle wanted to do a "project" and my guess was it was too expensive to fix up the car, so that's why he didn't do anything with it for that long. I think the lack of care and respect people have for cars now have definitely shown why cars of the last 20 years have been scrapped, neglected and left to rot.

      That's how cars end up sitting for years and years. Somebody always has a plan but life often gets in the way. Thanks for watching!

    Yeah I've got one of the Concordes are the same thing if I remember right they all should have the flexible plastic wheel well which I would just push with my hand turn the battery on its side pop it right out also I saw your job that's true as soon as you connect the cables back up the horn always blows good work nice little getting around town car

    That car looks to be in pretty good shape. They were pretty decent on fuel and rode nice. That will make someone a good daily driver who doesn't have alot of money to spend on a vehicle. Great find

      That 2.7l engine is a very bad design- internal chain driven water pump and oil return jokes too small in the cylinder heads and the oil sludges up . A/C evaporator cores always leak along with the a/c condenser. Transmission too- it’s not the greatest car but drive it until it dies, take the license plate off and walk away. Good luck 👍🏻

  • @TylersNeighborhoodGarage
    @TylersNeighborhoodGarage 6 месяцев назад +1

    That's probably the last known running 2.7L engine in North America.

    Not the worst cars in the world, we had one of the 94 3.3 variety when I was a teenager.
    Definitely their weakest link is the transmission.
    Luckily the one we had, the battery was in the normal spot.
    This particular variety they should have put the battery in the trunk.
    Did you know Chrysler used the Intrepid as a concept car for the Chrysler 300 Rear Wheel Drives.
    This variety should have been Rear Wheel Drive, also.

    • @MyLegacyGarage

      I could see where a rear wheel driver version of this car would have been fun at least. It'll make somebody a good transport. Thanks for watching!
