The RIT dyes are usually near the laundry detergent aisles. For future reference! Great tutorial. I'm on SSI, so not much money for crafting. Anything I can make for cheap gives me more spending $$$$!!!!!!

A coffee grinder will take care of the big pieces or a mortar and pestle.

You can also find a cheap second hand coffee grinder and run it through to make it more fine

Did you try crushing the crystals in the package before opening it? That might make them smaller... Interesting concept.

This is a great idea. However brusho is an artist grade product. So this should be more of a Jen Oliver color burst DIY. Because his are not.

Brusho is a CRAFT grade item. If it were artist grade, it wouldn’t be marked for what it is for greeting cards and such and it wouldn’t fade the way it does.

Yes, that's pretty darn cool. :)

You’re not getting the bursts because you added way too much water to it.
Also, allowing it to just do its thing instead of making it flow everywhere by adding way too much water, makes for a very over worked piece and ruins the effects to its appearance. Brusho isn’t really meant to be used like watercolor and it makes me cringe to see people use it like so. If you want a watercolor effect, just use watercolor.

Thank you for your advice I was just going by what I had seen other people doing. I have moved and haven't located my brushes yet but when I do I will take your advice even though I thought you were a bit harsh just saying.

Thats fabric dye put onto paper, that is absolutely no comparison to Brusho. Brusho is top quality artist grade pigment, not fabric dye, as Katie Rogers below says, this should be a ken oliver colour burst diy not Brusho.

The dye part of Brusho and Rit or Dylon is pretty much the same, the difference being that dye is permanent and Brusho is fugitive. This tutorial is for people having fun, not for the politically correct, and as long as you enjoy yourself and are being creative, how you do it does not matter.

for a start brusho is not dye its a pigment and has no binder mordent or catalyst as dylon has. you have no idea what you are talking about clearly. what on earth are you on about politically correct? politically correct what? as i stated in the above and as others have, their is no comparison between brusho and dylon, this would be better compared to other craft products of a similar nature and standard.

Do you know what Color Burst is?! It’s pretty much finer particles of Brusho and put in a pot container with a sealed lid, not and squeeze bottle 😂

@@spinningdownunder just because the dye is permanent on clothing, doesn’t mean it won’t fade over time in the light on things like paper.

@clacroix1693 color bursts are a direct rip of brusho and a stolen product copy. They are not allowed to be sold in the UK because of the rip. I dont use blatantly ripped products from talentless hacks who come to the UK, watch me demo it, get told no its a trademark signature product then flit back to the USA and make a inferior chemically created copy.
