- It has been a year since we prepared for our first year of hummingbird visitors and this year we want to hope they remember where they could come for food, flowers, and comfort! They boys and I prepare the property to welcome the first hummingbirds of the year, we finally can build some DIY raspberry trellis to get our first canes on the land planted and Philip unpacks a new toy stump grinder for the property that will help us clear the land for our first large ground plot to direct sow our veggie seeds this year.
Congratulations! Your family is AWESOME! Great team! Everything is coming to be. The horses are lovely and happy. You all deserve all this well being and joy.
You have created an amazing homestead. In addition to the humans, all the animals on the homestead have a wonderful life. What a beautiful way to live!!
Thank you so much!
I can't thank you enough for letting me, us share this day with your family.
I always boil my water and than add sugar while it's warm cool and put it in a container in the fridge.
Don't forget to use your horse , chicken and turkey manure for your garden. We had the best garden on an old horse lot!
Compost the manure for a year, that way it won't be to hot for the plants.
We have several horse farms that give it away! My neighbor gets buckets of it and she mixes it with her compost! Her yard is always healthy looking!
Shhh Shhh she wants to get a cow🐄 don't spoil her idea. 😄😄 Great ideas though.👍🏼👍🏼🌻
Your boys are so sweet & well mannered! Omg super adorable! So delighted to see them in your video!
Hey, just a city girl FYI. I have several humming bird feeders and I noticed you used bottles of water. I bring a big pot to a boil, turn off heat and add sugar. I stir while warm and it dissolves so well. I store extra in my pouring pitcher in the fridge for a few days and it helps with refills.
I am excited about them this year. I'm in a zone 8A that is turning into a tropical 9. Crazy!!
Been following you for years. I love your channel and family. So encouraging to do what you can with what you have ❤❤
You are a breath of fresh air
I wish I loved painting as much as you do. Everything here would look as fresh as yours does. ❤
The video part of you two with your beautiful ❤️ horses was so amazing! You are going to make a fabulous gardener. We love your family so much!! Hummingbird s are so lucky for sure!! Love 💕 from Grandma Debbie 🙋🧑🦽 and Dexter-Dog 🐕🐾 my sweet tiny rescued Chihuahua companion 🐕🐾 living 🏠🌴 a quiet crafty life in southern California 🌺. 🙋🧑🦽🐕🐾🏠🌴😎🙏🙏🏖️🌵
There is a lady on "Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy" YT channel (she's Robbie) who lives in So Cal and has hundreds of hummingbirds at her home. She shows how to make bubbling fountains that hummingbirds like to drink from and bathe. She is a bit quirky, but in a lovely way.
I love their YT channel....she has so much knowledge when it comes to all kinds of birds, but especially hummingbirds - and she has thousands of hummming birds during migration periods....I've learned so much from their channel.

How dare that damn beaver deprive Phillip of his rights to stump grinding and wood chipping. lol... Love this and you two as always!
OK, so when Philip finally says yes to cows get West Highland cows ❤
Boys do as much with your parents as possible this are the memories you will remember most. So nice to see. I thought the same thing about the cows. Beavers lost there play ground Ha ha
Philip and his hilarious rants😂
Pine wood chips are good for so many reasons!! They repel bugs and vermin. Doesn't mold.
Your trellises look so pretty painted white just standing the way they are already. Great design!! ❤
thank you Denise :)
@@ElysiaEnglish You’re welcome, Elysia!! It is my pleasure to see how nice things are looking and for your plants and seeds sprouting and blossoming and doing so well. You’re getting things in the ground too!! It’s looking great on the homestead inside and out!!! 👍
Cow manure is best for growing plants, nice job❤
Love your videos and your horses 🐎 and all your animals😊
*RASPBERRIES...YUM❣️ MY FAVORITE FRUIT❣️. WOW, you had mulberry bushes⁉️ Those are delicious, too‼️❤😋*
I’m not telling you how to do anything I just want to share that when I make my hummingbird food I use the same ratios as you of water and sugar but I boil the water and sugar, mix well and dissolve the sugar, let it cool and then fill the feeders. They absolutely love it and this way you know you’re boiling out any bad things in the water. Hudson and London are getting so big!!!! Can’t wait till you guys can ride them on your beautiful property!! ❤
Horses, hummingbirds, raspberries! Fantastic
Hi guys what amazing video can't wait to see raspberry. Can't wait to see the boys ride for the first hummingbirds are totally cool birds .loves❤❤❤❤❤
Your horses are so beautiful and well cared for
thanks Carol
What an idyllic life you have made for yourselves ❤❤. Every project, every aspect of your home and land … I’m just so happy for you and proud of you for all your accomplishments !! 😘
You have a wonderful family 😎
My husband saw 1 small hummer at our feeder I love seeing them return.
My hummingbirds have returned and my roses are blossoming. The new plants are growing so fast. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💖🥰💯💫🌷🌹🌻🕊️
If I'm not mistaken Preparing a simple syrup versus sugar water is higher quality for hummingbird feeding. ❤
When you do need to cover the raspberries use black tulle fabric. I use that and I can't even see it. It works great against birds and doesn't hurt them.
We mix our sugar & water on the stove to disolve.
Remember to Wash and disinfect pretty ofeten the contaainer for the birds, bacteria inside those multiplie really fast and it can kill birds
What a beautiful life.
I love raspberries!! I hope u guys have a great harvest of them
Good for you Elysia! You will enjoy your raspberries for a long time! I love what you do!
Phil looks so nice since he has shaved, very handsome! Loved your raspberry trellis! Your plants look great! Congratulations on getting the trunk chopper!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome honey.
Can’t wait for the humming birds 🐦 👏👏👏👏👏👏
It is coming together!! Great job!
Something to ask the nurseries…find a thick bush for the hummingbirds to nest their babies. Keep away from north winds if decides to stay for the winter. Then you have to figure out how to have food frozen…good luck. I would do research.
Love the berry trellis........I need to do that for our blackberries. Five acres of them that grow wild and they are crazy taking over but they are so good. I just got in from feeding my humming bird feeder as well. Coincidence.
Good video and good luck on your berries.......sound delicious.
They look very healthy guys 🙌 yum good luck with your growing season love it so satisfying to grow your own veg from seed or cuttings 😍 thanks for sharing 😉 from the land down under 🇦🇺🐨🦘
I'm right there with you Elysia! I've been trying to convince my hubby that we should get mini highland cows 😆 So far I've been able to get a "maybe someday" out of him, and that's not a "no"! hahaha
SWEEEEET VIDEO!!! GET IT???!!!!😁😁😁🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼💕💕💕🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I think you need a cow you got almost all the animals that help you eat can make a lot of butter with milk, buttermilk
You guys are so fun! ❤
Hi Elysia Philip & boys,I just love your home & property!I so enjoy each video & seeing the animals. The raspberries are a great addition to your homestead.Enjoy your week!! ❤️
❤
They grow and spread soooo faat its great mmmmm my fav.
Memories of our kids are fun.😊
That's good training for the horses they are really sweet and mellow..I had my horse for 20 yrs it's really good to do some halter training great job!!
Your plant babies are so cute!
The humming birds have come back to my house too I so enjoy watching them. God bless the Engl8sh family💜🦋
What a great thing having raspberries ❤❤❤😋 😋 😋 😋 😋
You have horses, pigs, Turkey, chickens, and rabbits. You have enough manure already!!! Remember, only rabbit manure is garden ready. Compost all the rest. Smell it; if it smells like ammonia or manure, it is not ready. Hope you already know all that. If you get a cow, you’d have to butcher it eventually.
Your boys will hate me for saying this, but they are seriously The Cutest!!!❤😊
Hummingbirds. ♥️
Yet another fantastic video.x
Horses sure are getting big!
Exciting things growing. Thanks for sharing.
Everything looks like it's all coming together at just the right time. But I just gotta say/ask this: Am I the only one who hears the turkeys clamoring to get outside of that cute little coop you've made them??? I think they really need to have an enclosed pen to roam a bit more just like the piggies do?????? PS: I love the new color/paint/accents in your kitchen...it looks soooo good!!!!!
they go outside daily :) in the later evening they go inside before the bobcats come out hahah
@@ElysiaEnglish Oh good..YAY....and I'd worry about bobcats too....or bears...not sure if you guys have bears there but we do here in Northern NY...they scare me LOL!! :)
Thank you!❤🎉
Don’t buy manure - use the horse and chicken manure!
Horse manure works toooooo!🤣🤣.
♥️💙💙💙🤟🤟🤟🤟
Country girl
I love the hummingbirds we have feeders all around our house we also have bird feeders all over our backyard. We even feed the squirrels. One of my neighbors was shooting at the squirrels in our backyard. My grandson's were in the backyard when he was shooting at the he hit my 3year old grandson. I called the police they had the fire department come to the house to . I already had a ice pack on him where he was hit . The fireman thought it was funny because the icepack looked like Nemo. The police took the mans BB gun away from him . He was mad because I let the squirrels eat from the bird feeders. Prayers and Love 💓 From Oklahoma
There are tons of raspberries bushes down there Elysia…just look on the side of the roads down there and when you guys are four wheeling. There are tons of blackberries, blueberries, cranberries and fox berries in the wild. I hope you find some!…If I was home I would show you all the good spots.😁🤟🏼
thanks ill keep my eye out!
Horsey poopoo should be as good as cow poopoo and you don't have to buy it. Did I miss something?
I do like you quiet lawnmowers. The trellis look good. They will look really good in a year or two covered in raspberry bushes
I live in Indiana and are hummingbirds are already back for the season
Beautiful
So pretty.
#cowsforcowmanure
Be careful with a green net over the raspberry, birds get stuck in the net. 😢
Elysia, those boys! You have a mini Phillip & a mini Elysia. My goodness what a homestead y’all are growing. I have a question and if you have already answered, my apologies I do try to watch all of you videos. Do you plan to some day ride the horses? They seem to me to just be wonderful pets that are so lucky to have been adopted by your family. And the adorable piggies, they are forever pets, right? It doesn’t seem to me like you would be raising animals for food. I have seen homesteading RUclips families that do and to each his own, but please tell me your sweet animals are pets. Not wanting to cause controversy, just asking. Thanks 🙂
Are you going to be riding the horses? Now that would be fun.
Rabbit manure is the best.😊. Get rabbits
GREAT JOB DEAR LOVE YOU ANNAMAY
I bet you’re looking forward to riding someday?
Congrats on planting the raspberries. Be careful NOT to plant blackberries. When they are near, raspberries stop making fruit
Weeding mine now
amazing!
Hummingbirds are one of my favorites too! Do you guys also see Baltimore Orioles?
I always thought you have to boil the sugar water to help dissolve it(and of course cool/chill it down afterwards)! Maybe I can skip this step.
Wow the horses have grown. When will, you be able to ride them?
🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Still waiting for our first hummer. they are late this year.
👍😁
That one with no green, the roots weren’t wet soak it and it should come back
It's is funny to me to think you have to wait till June and down here in the low desert
we are pretty much done.. We have the reverse with fruit trees we need enough
cold 🌬 hours four ours to fruit. You need
certain varieties with fewer chill hours.
But thankfully we do get the Hummingbirds. (I don't know why there is
No Hummingbird emoji. There's a Penguin
but Hummingbird) Seriously how many times do you wanna use a Penguin? Don't get me wrong I like Penguins But I probably use Hummingbird more. 🤷🏼♀️Just saying.😉
Thanks Guys 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌺
❤🎉🙏🏻
I laughed when you put the bags of manure down... you have horses and chickens, plenty of manure for your plants...
Don't you boil the sugar and water for hummingbird feeders
The horses are looking stunning. When will you train them so you can ride them?
Did you ever show the bathroom totally done?
Will they all be eaten?
Raspberries, my favorite fruit
I get so excited when you upload a video!! Love everything about your homestead! I thought I heard the turkeys in the background, do you let them out of their house at all?
yes. thye get to adventure :) we saw bobcats the other day so we have kept them in tonight before the storm to make sure they all are home for the storm
I've always boiled the water but maybe I don't need to? Haven't had too many hummers this spring in SE Michigan. We are experiencing a Hummer Bummer lol
We have wild raspberries growing in our yard but i never really get any because the birds beat me to them.
My husband doesn’t like hummingbirds. He says you can’t trust a bird that can fly backwards. 😂
hahahh thats hilarious!
How old do your horses need to be before you can start training them to let you ride them?
Your horses are growing and look really healthy. How old do they have to be before you can ride them?
closer to 3 1/2 -4 :)
Who's going to saddle break the horses?
Where are the doggies? We never see them😢
they were out all day with us outside you can hear them int he video :)
Whatever happened to your glass bottle spot you found...are you still finding treasures?
