Kate, I enjoy your videos so much! I am 81 and a widow. I live alone with my poodle. I have learned so much while watching. My husband was the quilter in the family until his passing. I have some real treasures that he made. I have decided to make a quilt. My first quilt will be a simple pattern. I’m just going to take my time and enjoy the experience.
I have just found you Kate..and gone back through..binge watching your channel ❤ My partner just passed suddenly 😢..and you have saved me from giving up on life..that may sound strange..but we moved towns 2 weeks before he passed..so I knew no one..I feel like I'm sitting there having a coffee with my best friend..thank you from my heart to yours 💝🙏
You’re never really alone.. not even when you think you have no one. RUclips and all the stitchy friends are here. Thank you Kate I so appreciate you and enjoy your videos.
Kate I have loved watching your channel through the years. You have taught me so much and most important how to slow and enjoy the time I spend on each project. I love the garden channel also and again I have learned how to slow down in life and enjoy what I do and what I make. Thank you so much for being here in my life.
I agree completely with you, Kate has taught me there is another way of enjoying life not only with crafts but also how she relates with family and friends. Distance is not an impediment to feel her and her world close to my heart.
Such a lovely item of work, so organic in the way it's made. I have been purchasing pre-cut squares from a shop called 'The Nest'. A place where materials and every sort of haberdashery are gifted to this place, which is supported by volunteers from every aspect of the business. A very positive environment. I think I know exactly what I will be making next. Thanks Kate, a very inspirational segment. 😊
100% agree on the above. Her soothing chat, kind heart & great tips/instruction are so easy to sit & listen. Its late morn & I am out on my sunny patio in Calif with a cup of coffee, 2 little dogs & her video has me very relaxed. 🥰 Thanks Kate, we love you. ❤
Kate and the last homely house ❤. Such a wonderful channel, i swear this channel does more to soothe anxiety and stress than any medication known to man. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m very sad to admit that I once came upon a bunch of bent safety pins in a hand me down stash and thought they were worthless. I got rid of them. Fast forward 20 years. I bought 200 bent safety pins for quilt basting because I saw Kate use these funny bent pins. Lessons learned. Enjoy the process. Thank you Kate.😊
It’s like you gave me permission to be outside of the box and to slow down! I enjoy listening to your thought process. I like that you pick things up to work on a bit and then put them down for a while. No rush! The quilt you made for Agnes is a great example of that. I can exhale when I watch you and just enjoy. I’m so glad I found your channel!! Blessings, Kate!
Hello from Georgia in the US. Dear Kate, I wonder if you know what a blessing you are to all of us on the lime green sofa. I can just feel my blood pressure going down; you have such a pleasant calm way of doing all that you do - no matter what it is. Thank you so much for generously sharing your life with us; take care.
Kate I took your idea for the wall board. It works so very well. I have learned so much from you, my mama died when I was young so you are my gift as a mama to teach me quilting and sewing. You as your quilts are beautifully and wonderfully made. God bless you!
Kate - the minute I click on one of your videos my shoulders relax, my mind clears, and I feel the serenity of the life you live in the last homely house. Honestly, it's a pleasure. Thank you.
I learned to sew when I was a little girl. My mother would cut up our old nightgowns and make them into a shape she could get evenly, and frequently had to double up the old pieces. I learned to sew a straight line putting those pieces together for "batting" of our outdoor quilts. My mother still has these quilts. After putting the front, middle and backing together, I crawled on the floor pinning. Then, I would sit on the couch, tieing the quilts. During the winter, too cold to play outside, this is what I did. Or, I would embroider pillow cases, dust covers/dresser scarves. Always something to do. My mother's thought was if we had time to sit, we had time to do something constructive. 😊❤
I believe that one of the spin-offs of this approach, was that we developed fine dexterity quite early and it set us up well for years to come. The patience and persistence it fostered were often hard won though. I'm 65 and spent very many hours latch-hooking woolen hearth rugs with my Nana, who also taught me to crochet. Her sister, my great aunt, taught me 'proggy rugs' and knitting. I still have my first 'embroidered' mats (running stitches with laced threads, and cross stitch on coarse aida) because Nan kept them🥰
@@cassieoz1702 Both of my grandmothers had me help them make rugs. One of them had me braid strips of fabric, then sew them into different shapes. The other used an old toothbrush for a tool. My job on those was to sew the fabric scraps together in a pleasing way. Nothing went to waste. Very fond memories of what today's children would be considered too much work. Both grandmother's grew up with very little, and these were necessary means and important teaching of being frugal, making do with what you have, and not whine about what we don't have. I remember the wonderful colors the rugs would have. Most of my gifts as a child to this day are handmade. I too have my first dresser scarf I embroidered for my grandmother. The colors are still bright, and my stitches are pretty darn good for a 5 year old. Running stitches, french knots, and a few daisy stitches. 🙂❤️
I love that you are always willing to try something new. Give it a whirl. But you are not beholden to doing something exactly how someone else has done it. Thank you for inviting us to come along with you on another journey!
Oh! Kate, I think your “sort of a kantha quilt”, is absolutely beautiful. I love the fabrics and colors you chose for the top. And as always, I love watching your newest adventures. I think I will go sew now and think of all the beautiful and fun quilts you have made. Can’t wait for your next video. You are such an inspiration!!
Its always a delight watching you quilt Kate. Your method is clear and interesting as always. The cabin quit came out so colourful and beautiful 😊 i was wondering how is the outcome of the wedding gift of your two friends which was featured not too long ago? It think it must be still work in progress, right? I'm sure you will let us know, right? Thanks for sharing your ideas and methods, truly appreciate it. ❤
I have been watching your channels now for a year or so. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy every single episode. You are so beautiful and talented. It calms my soul and brings me peace to watch and listen while I do a little stitching or quilting myself. Thank you Kate for being you, and sharing your love of quilting and gardening!
Your room is sooo beautiful ..sooo vibrant!!! It took me a few replaying of the video to stop looking at your room and start watching you work on your quilt!!!!
Kate, I just wanted to say thank you for this channel. It's like a lovely warm hug, and it's definitely my favourite corner of the internet. I always pop your videos on when I'm hand stitching things and it's like having a crafty internet mum with me. Reading other people's comments it seems like I'm not the only one that finds your videos warm, gentle and comforting. You've also taught me to slow down and not worry about how perfect my work is, which is good because my quilting skills are very fresh! Much love from Australia
I love watching and listening to you your lovely English accent, your calm manners and I always learn something keep it up the world needs you especially at this time of turmoil
Hi Kate. After years of pin basting my quilts, I was watching a HandiQuilter-Africa video, and the lady on it showed how she doesn’t close her basting pins after use. She just puts them in a jar opened and when she needs them again, she used a chopstick to pick some up from the jar. She then kind of tapped them on her quilt top and the pins would separate from each other. I have used this method for the past couple of years and it sure saves my fingers from getting sore opening and closing the pins so much. I also use a shortened chopstick to open and close the pins.
I learned to sew by taking home ec. I loved the teacher Mrs. Ewing. You never forget the teachers that meant alot to you and learned from. My mother thought ironing was more important but never lost my love for sewing. I have sewed off and on for years, now at 75 I quilt, which I love, love and learn more about how to do different blocks each day. I love watching your videos and get inspired by your videos and I thank you. Keep up the good work with each endeavor. Hugs to all.
Hello, Kate! I’m from Michigan USA. I recently came across your channel. I have to say that I love your accent and enjoy hearing you speak. 😊Of course, I also like and am very interested in what you are saying about your projects and your life. I’m a fairly new quilter and I enjoy learning from various quilters. Thank you very much. Please keep sharing! ❤️
Hello Kate, since i’ve subscribed to your channel I have all but left my other you tubes wait. You are a kind & caring soul & I feel at peace as soon as i listen to you. Thank you for having such a large lime green sofa for us all, from Sheridan,Oregon
Such a lovely quilt- all my favorite colors! I so love your channel, Kate. It’s my go to, for learning something new, relaxing, or just getting some inspiration for my quilting journey. Thank you for being there for all of us!
Kate, your quilt came out beautiful and I love the colors!!!! I purchased a Kantha Quilt last summer when I visited the Missouri Quilt Star Company for a 4 day retreat. What a wonderful time I had. Anyway, on one of the days we got to go visit the MQSC Museum in which there was a whole display and videos on Kantha Quilts. They also had many that they were selling with all sales going back to their country. I love and use mine all the time.
So beautiful. I beat myself up all the time because my stitches aren’t as tiny and straight as once they were. You have set me free. The longer stitches are different but no less beautiful. Thanks Kate❤
Thank you for being you! My grandmothers have been gone for many years but you so remind me of them. And I’m a grandma now myself. I love hand needlework most of all and keep attempting to go machine. It’s just not in me. I relax just watching and listening as you work. Thanks again. 9:56
Kate, you always arrange your blocks so beautifully….personally, I find that this is most difficult part of the quilting process. I think that perhaps I am far too up tight. 🥴. But, I am learning so much from your channel and love to take some time on Sunday afternoons and dream about your always gorgeous work. Many thanks.
What serendipity! I attended a lecture by Sujata Shah (Cultural Fusion Quilts) a few days ago. Now I am doubly inspired to do one. She said it is more important to enjoy the process than aim for perfection. We all need to give ourselves that bit of grace. I discovered you recently. Thank you for all your lovely videos.
Wow! I love the chain piecing technique, that's brilliant! I've been a quilter for decades, always striving for perfection, which I feel is necessary - if I'm going to spend the time & money, I want an heirloom. That being said, I am absolutely in love with the freedom you show, and that all kinds of ideas, styles & methods make just as beautiful & loved of an item.❤🎉
You are such an inspiration to me. I usually overthink things and never start, but you have given me the courage to jump in and just start. Thank you!🥰
@peggymcright1220. That’s my problem too!!! I’ve never sewn in my life but decided to give it a go. Over the past few weeks I’ve gathered the things I’ll need and now I’m afraid to start in case I make a complete mess of it!!! Who’d know? Me!!!! I’m a bit hard on myself probably. I’m sure you’ll do a fine job Peggy 💕
Simply beautiful. The softness of the colours reflect your garden reaching out into the wider landscape. The inner layers are not wasted or forgotten but honour the nature of a quilt, by playing a supporting role. ❤
Thanks Kate! I’ve been collecting scraps and skirts of Kantha cloth to make a dressing gown, kimono style. Your quilt has given me a terrific idea. I loved your dressing gown videos and this puts the finishing touch on my project idea. You are a dear!! I love all your videos and the garden channel. So many ideas just popping around waiting to be made!!😀
My heart SOL (smiles out loud) to think of what my Mum; who insisted on close, even quilted stitches: the quilt on a frame, set up in the middle of her living room; would think of our methods of quilting now.
Kate, you are a woman after my own heart. I so enjoy every aspect of your life and your podcasts. Thank you many contented hours of viewing. Happy crafting. Judy, Nelson Bay, Australia
Hello Kate! I’m from Portugal (Lisbon) and I founded your videos when I was looking for EPP. Then I was getting more and more interested in some details of your house (the curtains ) and something you talk, as the bees, so I went for it and started to watch all your videos from the beginning! I am now in the middle of 2019 (June I think) and what I like is that you seem to be talking to each one of us as we were visiting your house and drinking tea with you! At this moment I want to congratulate you for all you presented , all the things you experienced , and I understand why some people say you are always so busy, that’s because you have so many interests and different things to do I believe that would take one lifetime! And I have seen only a year of videos (and a few more recents). At least now I know how you did your curtains!😊. Oh and that quilt for Agnes, so beautiful, gorgeous indeed… well for now I will continue to watch your 2019 videos. Bye now
I bought 2 kantha quilts from India and when I received them I was surprised to see threads randomly sticking out. Spots where they ran out of thread and just stopped in the middle of the row and then just stuck out with no knotting on the ends. I thought when it was washed all the threads would just come out and it would be a mess. I contacted the seller, sent pictures and stated my concern. He explained to me that’s how they are stitched and it was normal and that no threads would come out. So I washed them and it was true. They stitch them in some way that the threads can be cut and just left hanging and do not come unstitched. I love the blankets.
Love watching you make the Kate-style kantha quilt. It’s beautiful and what a treat to see Ilene the goose! She looked like she was happy to see you join her at the cabin. I enjoy watching each and every video you post on this channel and The Last Homely Garden channel as well. Thank you for bringing joy each time I see you!🤗♥️
It turned out so lovely! I just love your relaxed attitude towards quilting and that you are not so rigid (as I am). You inspire me to let go and just enjoy the process.
Kate what a lovely enjoyable video as always. I truly enjoy slow stitching along with you & a cup of tea. You are touching so many lives through your videos. Thanks for all that you do along with your wonderful family to make these videos. Sending love & hugs.
This is my second viewing, I have my Indian squares, and double gauze in a sunset gold. I am excited to start. Thank you so for the joy you give all of us..
Your lovely quilt reminds me of this children's poem (unknown author): I’m glad the sky is painted blue, And the earth is painted green, With such a lot of nice fresh air All sandwiched in between. Did I miss a video of making the walkway with the pebbles? It looks so nice. Thanks for the video!
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I just restored a vintage quilt for a friend and was amazed no batting was used just cotton and it was heavy. In the US they called them summer quilts, so they would be cool blankets. After working on it I want to make one for myself and after seeing you video I definetly want to make one. Lovely video. ❤❤
I "sew" 😂 enjoy watching ur videos. Such a lovely way to spend my day. Kantha is really addictive. Never thought I would enjoy this method of quilting!!!the colors y you have chosen are so beautiful and calming. Enjoy your day💖
oooooh, this is coming along beautifully! It should have a lovely drape and the double-gauze will make it so different! I do love those chalk markers - it's the 'whizzy' noise they make as the little wheel turns! 🤣 I'm so easily amused.... :) xx
Kate you have been so inspiring I have picked up my love of patchwork again after 20 years …. If I am a bit messy. So many top tips. The thread bunny is genius. I’m predominantly a crochet designer. But you have just been such a delightful discovery. Thank you Emma
It’s been lovely to watch you trying out something new. The quilt is lovely and I love the colours. I’m intrigued by the use of the cotton darner needle, it looks like it would be good for ordinary hand quilting too. Thank you.
I learn so much from following you, what a beautiful wrap guilt. QUICK QUESTION: DO YOU EVER HAVE ISSUES WITH MICE DAMAGE??? Those little creatures like to "cuddle" and "borrow" bits from fabric-made items where I live, so I do have to be mindful of that.
I love how you made what you love just for you. I’m guilty of never making myself a quilt, but spending numerous hours on projects for others, which is nice too. You inspire me to spoil myself. Loved your video.
I like to use a spoon to bring the needle up against then I can mark my stitch length with it. It works for me. The colors are delicious, and you've made such good progress.
Hello Kate❤ I really like the colours you've used on the quilt. It turned out lovely. It was nice to see you in the cabin and Ilene's cameo appearance was a bonus. The garden looks lovely too. I hope you and the family are well. From Esperance in Western Australia.
Thank you thank you for being a complete inspiration. I love quilting and have struggled with freeing myself up to not worry about flitting from one project to another and my reluctance to machine quilt preferring to hand quilt. Watching your enthusiasm for design and using running stitches to quilt has enhanced my enjoyment of quilting. Listening to your wonderful chat and watching you sew is my daily meditation. I also let all my teas go cold as I get so absorbed in my sewing.
Kate I am watching you from Coutts Alberta Canada. I have been watching you sporadically on my RokuApp on my tely. Decided you are so inspiring I had to be sure I get your current broadcasts. Learn lots too. Thank you
This quilt is going to be so soft and comfy for your cabin🥰it’s already looking adorable! Can’t wait to see what u do with the edges. Thank you for another fun video💖I’m loving your sense of adventure in quilting😍
Just lovely, Kate! I love watching you work and enjoy life surrounded by everything that Kate’s enjoys in our world: her family, her friends, her critters, her hobbies, her garden…
Ooooh! I just stumbled across your fabulous site on RUclips. This is a very happy day. I’m so inspired. I am lucky enough to have a tiny cabin space down here in Tasmania and now I know exactly what I’ll be spending my time doing in there! Love hand stitching - love your work and the peaceful atmosphere as you work and share your knowledge with us. Thank you 🙏 😊.
The quilt is looking lovely, regarding the fast way of the traditional hand stitching and the rocking action, I think it can be achieved by putting one hand under the section of the quilt you are sewing rather than sewing against a table, then you can use both hands to rock fabric and needle, I hope it makes sense, it's how I do my big stitch hand quilting. This quilt will look awesome in your cabin ❤
Hello Kate, I’ve been watching you for a very long time and always looking forward to your next video. Love everything you do and love your presentation.
Thank you Kate for all the inspiration! I am on the finishing stretch of my first Kawandi.. well, Kawandi-inspired quilt because I also don't have all the traditional elements, but have made it my own. Looking forward to trying a Kantha-style quilt one day too.
Kate, I enjoy your videos so much! I am 81 and a widow. I live alone with my poodle. I have learned so much while watching. My husband was the quilter in the family until his passing. I'm so sorry. Sending prayers to you.
I'm so sorry for your loss, so glad you found Kate's Chanel..❤

I would like to add that your way of walking through life with grace, dignity and intention is inspiring and something I aspire to.
I agree completely with you, Kate has taught me there is another way of enjoying life not only with crafts but also how she relates with family and friends. Distance is not an impediment to feel her and her world close to my heart.

She is a gem.
You’re so right
I agree
Kate brings quilting back to where it belongs. Quilting should be fun, relaxing, and spiritual.

That's what I call a "Kate quilt", a riot of color, controlled chaos, plus a little, "I didn't think about that, but I will solve it. No problem. " ❤❤

Because of your videos, I have begun slow stitching my quilts. So enjoyable!
The kantha quilt is beautiful but I also have to say the piano music in the background is so lovely
I love the music in every video, it is just the right music to it I think.
It looks lovely and it's a summer weight quilt!
Beautiful, who ever gets this quilt will be in love with it! Lovely colours 😊
So many ideas just popping around waiting to be made!!😀
I love that Eileen has her own pond 💜. This quilt is lovely. I love the idea of the double gauze backing for a summer quilt.
My heart SOL (smiles out loud) to think of what my Mum; who insisted on close, even quilted stitches: the quilt on a frame, set up in the middle of her living room; would think of our methods of quilting now.
Oh my! I love this so much! I cannot wait to try it on my own. Thank you so much for all your instructions. You are a great teacher.
Looks so pretty particularly against your gorgeous back wall of the cabin ❤ love watching your makes Kate xxx
Bye now
Peaceful and relaxing to watch you sew Kate, thank you.
Thank you for bringing joy each time I see you!🤗♥️
Love sharing time with you. All the women in my family sew or paint or create and you just feel like home.❤
I love to watch your shows, you are so down to earth and I enjoy your voice😊
Thankyou Kate❤ l had never heard of a Kanta quilt. Loved watching you create👏
This is my second viewing, I have my Indian squares, and double gauze in a sunset gold. I am excited to start. Thank you so for the joy you give all of us..
Beautiful work
I love watching your videos. You have such a calming way about you in this crazy busy world. Your quilts are amazing. Thank you Kate x
You are a joy to watch and always a calming voice to listen and learn from. Thank you😊
Your lovely quilt reminds me of this children's poem (unknown author):
I’m glad the sky is painted blue,
And the earth is painted green,
With such a lot of nice fresh air
All sandwiched in between. Did I miss a video of making the walkway with the pebbles? It looks so nice. Thanks for the video!
Ваш канал выходит такое умиротворение. Услада для моих глаз. Спасибо 🙏
Lovely episode! I am bringing my hexie quilt outside to the porch today to continue hand quilting. We’re all inspired by you!
I’m so happy that I found your channel! It recently popped up in my recommendeds. I love your sewing room and your beautiful quilts!
Thank you, Kate hope you and the family are well
and enjoying the better weather
I "sew" 😂 enjoy watching ur videos. Such a lovely way to spend my day. Kantha is really addictive. Never thought I would enjoy this method of quilting!!!the colors y you have chosen are so beautiful and calming. Enjoy your day💖
I love the fabrics in your quilt. It is beautiful!
oooooh, this is coming along beautifully! It should have a lovely drape and the double-gauze will make it so different! I do love those chalk markers - it's the 'whizzy' noise they make as the little wheel turns! 🤣 I'm so easily amused.... :) xx
So beautiful. Thank you. Love the colours especially the green gauze backing. 👏😊💕
You are just so lovely and inspiring! Thank you for sharing! ❤
And we love to watch and listen to you while we quilt❣️
I love how you made what you love just for you. I’m guilty of never making myself a quilt, but spending numerous hours on projects for others, which is nice too. You inspire me to spoil myself. Loved your video.
I love all your fabrics! I bever get such wonderful colors and patterns. This is so beautiful!
When I'm working on a hand-stitching project, I like to watch The Last Homely House! 😉
How lovely !
😊I love your cabin and watching you create a new guilt it is beautiful Kate just beautiful
This is a beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing.💚💙🩵
A useful size. Always the right size for a quilt.
Kate…. You can make anything look beautiful ….🪡🧵🪡
Oh Kate, that is absolutely my most favourite quilt I've seen you make. You are such an inspiration.
Greetings from New Zealand. 🕊
I think your Kantha-style quilt matched the "wall quilt" perfectly. Thank you for lovely inspiration!
Do u teach quilting to seniors?
@@TeureWilliams- no, I’ve never taught quilting to anyone, senior or not
I love the way You make things how You like it. Thank you for sharing ❤. Many greetings from Germany
Hello Kate, I’ve been watching you for a very long time and always looking forward to your next video. Love everything you do and love your presentation.
I love, love, love those prints. I so envy you for this quilt. You're a delight to watch, do you know that?
Thank you Kate for all the inspiration! I am on the finishing stretch of my first Kawandi.. well, Kawandi-inspired quilt because I also don't have all the traditional elements, but have made it my own. Looking forward to trying a Kantha-style quilt one day too.
