Protein bars are NOT worse than candy bars-this is a complete misunderstanding! Protein bars are designed to fuel your body with nutrients, often containing high-quality protein, fiber, and vitamins that support energy, muscle recovery, and overall health. While some bars might have added sugars for taste, they are nowhere near the empty calories and pure sugar rush you get from candy bars. The key is to choose the right protein bar that fits your goals, whether it’s for fitness, health or just gym goers. Before you dismiss them, remember: not all protein bars are created equal-unlike candy bars, which are just glorified sugar bombs. Know the difference, fuel your body right!
Says soy protein isolate is one of the worst proteins but doesn’t provide any evidence supporting that it is. Mean while soy protein isolate scores a 0.98 on PDCAAS and whey protein scores a 1.00. There are studies that classify soy protein isolate as a high quality protein. One being “Comprehensive overview of the quality of plant- And animal-sourced proteins based on the digestible indispensable amino acid score.” You say protein bars are worse. But worse because it’s processed? You didn’t clearly define what “worse” means. Worse in relative to what? Are some of the ingredients within protein bars bad for you? Probably. But you didn’t address why those are ingredients are bad for you. And how much of those ingredients you would have to ingest for to have negative health effects relative to the amount present in a protein bar. A protein bar is a supplement and a candy bar is a treat. Both serve two different purposes. And both do not replace actual meals.
Definitely agree. I used to eat those protein bars. Big time bloating, cramps, and gas on me. Listen to your gut. It’ll tell you what’s healthy. Various meats and small portions of vegetables and fruits are what work for me. No bathroom issues at all. No more belly fat either.

The first protein bar isn’t “a little bigger.” It’s 36% bigger than the snickers. So if you made a snickers bar that’s the same weight, it would have 34g of sugar vs the cliff protein bar’s 28g. I’m not saying a protein bar is healthy, but you’re trying to make it look worse than it is… The protein bar simply has the majority of the rest of the calories coming from protein vs fat in the snickers.

You can convert any product e.g. potatoes, pasta, bread etc. to glucose equivalent, but there is no need to convert them to white sugar to calculate. This is manipulation to scare. White sugar is product itself, disaccharide containing one molecule of glucose and one of fructose. Both of them are resource of ATF molecules which are main source of energy in cell. So it’s not a poison in general. Proteins , fats and carbohydrates are main class of nutrients. Sure problems starts when you consuming more than you need.

He only focused on the negatives. Some of these bars contained high quality protein, like whey, with great aminoacid profile. Also some contained good vitamins & minerals.
our body does not have a physiological mechanism for breaking down fiber. this is the same reason that, when you eat corn on the cob, you see yellow bits come out in stool a few hours after - those are the parts of the plant that are primarily comprised of fiber. it's technically considered a carbohydrate, so according to FDA regulations it has to be included on the nutrition label under carbohydrates, but it's not one that has any accessible calories that our body can extract through the human digestive system (other lifeforms, particularly microbes and bacteria, can actually digest fiber, but we can't). The same is the case for sugar alcohols. therefore, if the quest bar has 25g of carbs listed, but of those 25g of carbs, 12g are fiber and 9g are sugar alcohols. that's a combined 21g of carbohydrates that our body cannot extract any chemical energy from, and thus cannot extract calories from (calories are a measure of how much chemical energy is actually released by digestion and breakdown of chemical bonds holding together the food we consume - they're not just an arbitrary measurement!). therefore, 25g-21g=4g of carbohydrates that are actually accessible for digestion. I hope this helps!

I really appreciate this. It does cover a few more details. I’d love to know what you think of honey and types of honey as opposed to sugar alcohols, or which sugar alcohols are okay to consume. Thank you, always!
Well, according to the Wikipedia, honey is about 82% carbohydrates and 17% water by weight, with no significant vitamins or other nutritional content. The carbohydrate is more or less half fructose and half glucose, with slight variance depending on the source flowers. I'd be interested in hearing what Dr. Berg has to say about honey, but to me it's essentially a sugar syrup.
Buy raw honey. Ferment it with garlic cloves. Takes about 2 weeks. Store in dark place. If you feel a sore throat coming on or have one, take a teaspoon. Tastes as bad as it sounds. Works. Raw honey also good on cuts. Cover with bandage. A sick person in bed. 1 raw egg, 1 cup whole milk, 1/2 teaspoon honey. Dash of cinnamon. Mix together. Honey does not go bad, but does turn to a thick crystal over time.
Raw honey appears to have some benefits. It’s not the worst carb out there. Just don’t watch any videos from a particular animal based diet influencer who will have you eating 500g of honey daily 😂

Dr Berg is the man. I've lead about 6 people over to him after my results.
Says soy protein isolate is one of the worst proteins but doesn’t provide any evidence supporting that it is. Mean while soy protein isolate scores a 0.98 on PDCAAS and whey protein scores a 1.00. There are studies that classify soy protein isolate as a high quality protein. One being “Comprehensive overview of the quality of plant- And animal-sourced proteins based on the digestible indispensable amino acid score.”
You say protein bars are worse.
Finally, someone talking with sense.

Did you watch the video? It’s the ingredients.

@@ChazUBCS again, the title of the video makes the claim that protein bars are worse than candy bars. The only ingredient he referenced in the candy bar was sugar. How does the Quest Bar have 25 grams of carbs when the packaging says 4 net carbs?
Deception- it's the name of the game...
@@williamh4172 deception from protein company or Dr Berg?
Where is he getting the stats?
Cuz you can subtract off the fiber and the sugar alcohol.
our body does not have a physiological mechanism for breaking down fiber. this is the same reason that, when you eat corn on the cob, you see yellow bits come out in stool a few hours after - those are the parts of the plant that are primarily comprised of fiber. it's technically considered a carbohydrate, so according to FDA regulations it has to be included on the nutrition label under carbohydrates, but it's not one that has any accessible calories that our body can extract through the human digestive system (other lifeforms, particularly microbes and bacteria, can actually digest fiber, but we can't).

This is why I love you doctor, . You go deep into the health world .
Iq bar is the only one I found. I believe it has tapioca starch but that's it and leas than 8 grams net carbs per bar. Nothing is perfect anymore from stores
Wow, them quest cookies and cream protein bars be so good😩🥲
Especially the quest Crispy cookies and cream
The chocolate mint and raspberry white chocolate too. I thought these were healthy now I'm saaaaadd😭
Dr. Berg...great topic. I'm in my early 50s, workout a few times a week (free weights, body weight, and commercial treadmill...plus a lot of heavy labor on our property), and eat a healthy diet (organic whole foods during the week with some cheating on weekends including wine). My wife and I have young twin boys so I'm on the run often and rely on protein bars when I need to protein to maximize muscle gains if I don't have time for a full meal. My "go to" protein bars are Aloha Organic Protein Bars as well as RX Bars...and Pearson Ranch nitrate and msg free elk and pork jerky.
The ancient indigenous peoples made pemmican, I've read they would mix blubber and blueberries then bury it a hole to age, then eat it like ice cream.
I think it had meat in there too. I’ve made a pemmican recipe. It was good! Stays fresh in refrigerator for a long time
Have you done it and eaten it?
@@CharlesTeacle Me? My civilized taste buds has me eating nut butter, mixed with blueberries and granola. :-)
Add some bison meat…
In western Alaska they substitute crisco in there and call it ahguduk.
Starches do not equal sugar, you use this to further your narrative. Sugar on itself is not unhealthy either. Sugar = carbs. Sure the glycemic index can be used to decide what type of carb you need/want but that's it. For healthy human beings sugar is not bad.
Correct ✅
You made me check, the Barebells bars have 12 net grams of carbs, and whey protein. Sounds alright before a workout to me.
Barebells dont make the list because they dont fit his narrative
@@JosephLees Couldn't have put it better myself. Also, Nutrend Deluxe, while having less protein, only have about 7 grams net carbs I believe.
Snickers were my favorite. I just found out they contain gmos. No more Snickers here. We don't eat anything gmo.
Why not?
depends on the bar obviously, the one I eat is more expensive but overall very good quality ingredients
What brand is that?
