Custom routes in Waze made simple with this short, but sweet video from Help Me Out! Waze gives you 3 routes to choose from, and automatically selects the best of the three by default. But you can steer Waze to a point of your choice, and force Waze to give you three choices through that point. This video shows you how!

I cannot thank you enough for making this info available! I have been grumbling for some time over “that little step” in a route that Waze forces on drivers only because it seems logical or closer... ON PAPER. What it DOESN’T take into account is that if you go THAT way, is that the light at the tracks is timed longer if you happen to catch it, or there’s a school zone at 7:30AM and 2:00 PM, or it’s all left turns at traffic lights to get to the highway (the other option is all right turns), or ... a myriad of other issues.

Unfortunately, I am getting the message I can only add 1 stop to my route, and then Waze wants me to plan a new drive.
I see from my research that one can shoehorn Waze into allowing 2 additional stops (but that relies on you accepting directions to a restaurant, store or some kind of business or location that Waze has found along your amended route, so if there are none of these, then you are back to one additional location).
Thank you sir. However I have a more complex situation. Whenever my guest follow the Waze link to my home, Waze shows them a route which is narrow and rough, I want my guest to go through another route avoiding the original shortest option. How can I manipulate that so that my guest don't have to choose "optional route/other route"
Edits like these must be done in the Waze map editor application on the web.
but just for starters, leave a map problem marker using the Waze app, the orange button on the screen. A volunteer map editor should get back to you within about a week to ask what's the problem and how can they help.
This doesn't work at all for what I want. It only allows you to add one stop and it still recalculates. Google maps does not have any answer for this, Waze does not have an answer for this. It's incredibly frustrating. I'm trying to map a route from my wife to take to work. All of the map apps route a ridiculous way to adds 45 minutes minimum onto the drive. I know the best route, but there are a lot of turns and she's unable to learn it. She needs a navigation app to route the exact route for her. Google maps allows me to map it on the desktop site, but it won't allow you to send it to the phone and use that custom route. I have not found any app that simply allows me to add the route that I want. All of them try to reroute it themselves, and none of them do a good job of it
This appears to be outdated now, as Waze no longer seems to have some of the features shown in this video.
Waze needs to allow custom routes to be SAVED!!!!! Really annoying! Thank you for the video, though.

is there a way to add stops in the browser (firefox and chrome). I am planning a trip and don't want to be doing it on the fly
If I drive *past* the phony stop that I've made (as long as I use the same road), will Waze continue the navigation towards my (true) final destination automatically? This is really important, as I don't want to have to play with my phone while driving.

I've been searching for an hour and trying to get through this damn app for the longest time. How does one very simply like Google Maps set the start Point wherever they want using a specific address?

Sadly however I tap or touch the screen on my iPhone I cannot add a stop to customise the route. Waze needs to let people do this, it won’t even remember the route I drive, which is preferred to the two Waze offers.

That's a great question and I wish you could do that. But Waze does not let you save routes

I am tired of the default taking commercial vehicle down a no commercial vehicle route only if they had options for commercial vehicles . tried to customize the model to Truck and it didn't help

Maybe Waze was better 3 years ago? The button "Add a stop" does appear when you tap and hold - thanks!, but when you try to add it, it says - Something went wrong, please try again later. Tried 3 times, nothing.
But you can't add more than one stop to a drive? I can't make Waze go the way I want. Can't use highway avoidance because the route is mixed, and can't just choose from the optional routes because it's not one of them. At least with Google Maps you can drag the route marker around until it's right. I guve up.

Cant do it as far as i know, you have to input at each stop 👍 I didn't know you could manually add though, so thats cool poster, thanks ✅

Unfortunately Waze will only let you add one stop, plus the final destination.

Just dial the address in the search window. It shows as location on the map. Below, on the right there are 3 dots "... " - this is a menu, open it and Tap "Choose as Start Point".

I've tried Waze and its a fine app, but I'm going to stick with Google Maps. I wanted to like Waze more than I did, but the little child-like graphics really bother me. Google Maps just appears more sophisticated.
Google Maps is better, but it work poorly offline. In fact, my phone is not compatible with this app at all. Waze works offline just fine, as long as you start the route while you still have data connection.
Nah i tried that already, i use a scooter to get around and i have to avoid high speed roads such as highways.
I wanna customize my route and pick all different back roads but its too difficult. If i did it your way i would end up making 300 stop points on the waze map just to get to where i need to be.
It would litterally takw me longer to make my route on waze than it would to travel where i need to be. Considering i have already wasted 45 minutes trying to figure all of this out. Its not user friendly by any means also trying to move map around is a pain in the ass.
Not worth it to me until i actually get a car. App is useless to scooter drivers and thats a shame because there are hundreds of thousands of people that actually own scooters.
Yeah. Except that stupid app allows to add only 1 stop. So, you can't really customize your route. I'll stick to Google maps.
so annoying - planning 350km trip and I can't edit routes. I can only add one point xd Why not more? Too advance for you to add it? Requieres 8 cores and 10 gig of ram? xd So great potential wasted by so idiotic decisions. I have 3 routes, I want to pick one and edit it moving points on map, because I know better way.
