    So I'm making this cardigan as my first cardigan ever. I usually do hats, scarfs, blankets... things of that nature. I wanted to challenge myself and this was the perfect project and video to do so. I HAVE TO SAY THIS... this lady is the BOB ROSS of crochet! Her voice is SOOOOO soothing and relaxing. Please keep making videos! Thank you!

    I made this cardigan for myself and it turned out beautifully! I am always making things for others and never for myself so I decided that I wanted to try and make this for myself and I'm so happy that I did. It was so easy. The directions were very clearly delivered. The only bad thing now is that all of my friends now want me to make one for them. Guess I'm going to be busy for a while!

      I as well have never made anything for myself, and have decided to make a cardigan for to wear while I crochet. This looks perfect for me. I love the simple yet pretty pattern, but I think I am going to try a different type of yarn, just for fun.

    Thank you. This is the first cardigan I have made, and it was completed in one weekend. Because it was for myself the changes in measurement was so easy. I made it without the hood, and used front post/back post all the way around the collar until the pattern went straight down, at that point, and all the rest that calls for fp/bp I used fp/regular crochet repeat so it wouldn't scrunch up. Thank you so much. I am going to wear it out tonight. Thank you. 😊

    I love this pattern. I really, really, really, wanted to make this for my daughter. Only thing, she has a very curvy, hourglass body, with ample breast and bottom. I am playing with alterations. I have more of a figure like your own, perhaps I will make one for me. It is such a lovely piece. You did a very good job on the tutorial. I searched measurements, but it wasn’t much help. The bust, and hip area will have to be increased. I have several books on making custom fitted crochet clothing. I will figure it out. Thank you, for such an inspirational piece, for your clear, soft spoken instructions, and such an array of lovely tutorials. Blessings 🕊💕🕯😇🙏🏻💚

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  Год назад +5

      Hi! Thank you for the lovely comment - For your daughter, have you tried using the hip measurement instead of a shoulder to shoulder measurement - you could physically take her hip measurement and divide that by 2 and in the tutorial when I use the shoulder to shoulder measurement, you can use half the hip measurement instead - that would make it easier for the cardi to fit over the bust as well - I generally do this when I’m working crochet clothing for similar body shapes - I hope this helps🌸

Then I adjusted the waist and shoulders, by adjusting making decreases in equal inconspicuous places. I wasn't sure about this piece, since I am using 3 colors in stripes. I figured it out. Thanks for your suggestions. 😊

      I can’t really tell you how long to make it - you will have to hold the foundation chain against your body from the shoulder going downwards to see what length you want to make the cardigan - hope this helps

    Hi there!! I love your explanation for the border, but I can't wrap my mind around the corners of the cardigan. Currently my corner has a fpdc and I have a ch2 space to corchet into before the next post. I'm lost on what to do in the space, unless it is as simple as adding 2-3 DC and continuing on. To clarify I am crocheting my border into a single crochet round. Hope this makes sense!

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  10 месяцев назад

      Hi! You could work 2 dc but you may end up with a little gap/ space from that ch2 sp, if you’re fine with that. Otherwise you may have to open up the previous R and instead of the ch2, you could work an increase. Hope I understood your question and what I explained makes sense🤦🏽‍♀️

      Hi Kristine. There’s no set number of chains to begin with - it all depends on the length of the cardigan that you are wanting to make - I do explain in the tutorial how to get that length which is the foundation chain - thereafter you will work the pattern to your size - I do provide those measurements in the tutorial as you go along - hope this helps (in the video my cardigan was worked to a length of 96 + 1 chains)

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, the only way to get a zip onto this cardigan is to stitch it on to the edges of the ribbings along the front opening either by machine or by hand, but I must be honest, I’m not sure how it would look with regards to “neatness“ or how the yarn is going to react (pucker or pull) to the stitching

  • @constancejohnson3463
    @constancejohnson3463 Год назад

    This is coming together so beautifully. I'm making my 1st one out of stash yarn as a " test" cardigan. 2 questions please. When you seamed the shoulders, did you do right sides together? And once you started doing decreases for the hoodie. Did you just do 2 or 3 rows of decreases, then regular crotchet? Or once you started decreasing,did you do a decrease on each row until the end of the hoodie? Again thank you soooo much for this beautiful pattern and tutorial. This will be my FIRST successful hooded cardigan. I'm so pleased. I'll be making this over and over again. I'm going to make one for my toddler granddaughter once I get measurements down. So greatful!!!!❤😊

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  Год назад +1

      Hi Constance, yes, right sides together (facing inwards) and it’s no for the hoodie Q - you only work a few Rounds of decreases just to form the curved part of the hoodie - I’m happy that you are enjoying this pattern

    Hello, I am new here and immediaty fell in love with your channel!!! 😍
    I never liked to crochet!
    I am a KNITTER since I am about 8 years old! And I love it!. But crochet? No way, it seemed to slow to me and I didn't like the look of the stitches 🙈
    But when I saw this Jacket, it blew me away! I love jackets but never really find a pattern that I like.
    So as a 'crochet beginner', I must say... I can't wait starting this projekt!
    You teach it very very well, even though I do not understand every word ( I' m German), it seems possible for me to do!
    BUT..... I have one question: is it possible to show the first stitches of each row ( especially those who are new) more than just 2 times? It isn't always that clear, if one doesn't know exactly what you mean.
    So... can you show the stitches about for example 4 times?
    ( hope you understand what I mean?) .
    Oh, and another question...
    Does anyone know, if you need more wool when crochet, than when knitting?
    Thank you very much 🤗

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  Год назад

      Hi, thank you for your comment - I love reading these comments, it gives me an indication of whether everyone out there is enjoying my patterns and that makes it worth it!
      I do have auto translate up on my videos - if you tap on the video (after the ad), and hold down on the “cc” tab for just a second (it’s on the upper right of the video), then choose auto translate , then choose your language - just to make it a little easier for you🌸
      I will take into account the repeating of the stitches in my next videos :) but for this video, you will have to swipe back and forth unfortunately.
      At first, I never thought I would like, let alone love crochet (I also knit but I’m super slow), but, I really love it - it is seriously therapeutic!
      All the best with this project ☺️

      @@JKDHandmade hello and goodmorning🌞.
      Thanks so much for answering me.❤️
      Well, I have already great news: I made a peace of pattern (25 stitches, 2x pattern)... And I think, te result is exact the way it has to be.😀. I watched it in a 0,75 tempo 😂.
      But yes, it would be very helpful if you could repeat the beginnings of a row more often. ( When you say, we begin with the first stitch, or skip the first, it is not clear for me which one is the first 🤔. Your first, seems to me like the second . But I,'ll learn 😉
      Thanks for your help and the tip. Didn't know about that auto-translate function.
      I'm looking forward for your next projects 😍

      To leave out the hoodie, yes, you would stitch all along the shoulders. I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  Год назад +2

      Hi Lucy, using a smaller size hook tightens up on the stitches, so yes, you would work more chains with a 4mm hook but know that it’s completely okay if you want to use a 4mm hook - it will create a tighter stitch. you decide on the length of the cardigan that’s right for you as I’ve instructed in the video - hope this helps

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  Год назад +1

      Hi Renaye, I don’t really use the yard system but I would think you may need about 1200yards for a Large. Remember that it also depends on the length of the cardigan that you are wanting to make. The longer the cardigan the more yarn you will need. Hope this helps

    • @JKDHandmade
      @JKDHandmade  16 дней назад

      I generally make a sample of the stitch pattern (24 is just a sample), you chain as many chains as need be for as long or short a cardigan you would like… (the length is from the shoulder going downward) - I do explain in the video
