Most people i know don't have a clue anyway how their car should drive. How often i notice bad shocks, half flat tires and bad alignments on peoples cars when im riding with them is astonishing. And they never even noticed and still have no idea what i am talking about when i point it out. They got used to it and it is part of their car
I much rather see people buying this then slamming their car down with some cheap lowering springs and then just keep riding their bouncy castle with no shocks left whatsoever.
At least this is safe and a better ride then a lot of peoples stock cars that i know.
It is all relative and you need to see things in a bit of context..
Some never even notice a broken spring or even a flat tire.

When you describe the ride feel of those coilovers as 'crashy', I suspect that has more to do with the mx5 being older with wearing suspension parts. The new springs are likely stiffer and it is revealing the weaknesses of the car's aging suspension. Older cars do rattle more. I experienced similar on my AW11 MR2 when I upgraded to high quality lowering springs and struts. Replacing many of the worn out bushings helped out a lot with that.

Same deal. I got some cheaper coilovers for my TL - turned out being the control arms, every rubber, etc. That made the most difference!
There's no cushion like the factory struts top hat so they're more harsh. Given that and the increased spring rate.
Swap out the top hats with stock if possible 🙊

It's funny how people claim it's the car, or the bushes, or the driver... yet i swap out the shitty coilovers from some good ones and suddenly it rides beautifully.

Funny you mention iPhones, how many people will be happy to queue up for the latest iPhone and fork out $1000 for that, but then they call me an idiot for suggesting cheaping out on poorly made suspension for their car is a bad idea.
Anyhoo, yes I can appreciate that MANY things are made in China, but they are often still engineered, tested and assembles properly... not just "chinese copies and built as cheap as possible" which is what these coilovers are.
Big difference between "built in china" and "built & engineered in china" parts engineered in china are mostly crap, because they try to cut down on prices too much and end up cheaping out on stuff they shouldn't. Plus they're pretty bad at engineering.

HOW TO GET GOOD QUALITY "EBAY" PARTS!!!! So China does this thing called stealing intellectual property of people who want to manufacture in china. So how this works is I can buy a brand new 7" intercooler direct from VRSF (but this could be any other car part) for $700. They manufacture this part in China for probably around $125. The reason they charge $700 is they have to pay for the R&D it took to design that part. But china comes along and steals there design and makes that same exact part unbranded and sells them in china. Some of those unbranded parts end up for sale on sites like ebay, AliExpress, ect. So moral of the story, you can get very good quality parts from eBay at huge discounts, but your hurting the companies who R&Ded that product. So there are some quality parts on eBay, just gotta know where to look.
This is very true Dolphin, although at least in this case we can rest assured that china didn't come up with a copy of anything of quality... as these were really disappointing coilovers.

They also cost more because defective units are rejected, bringing up the total cost of manufacture. With the cheap stuff you never know what you're going to get, and they often change something (lower quality materials, etc) to make it cheaper.

I'm sorry if you don't agree but for my use they were genuinely terrible. I was only negative about their performance because they were shit, they are cheap crap. Just because that is a fact, doesn't make me negative, it makes the product junk. Don't hate me when the product was at fault.
@@Bbeavis Scotty Kilmer had the same issue with the ones he got to try out on his wife's Lexus ES300, she even noticed how poorly the car rode with the new ones, so he ended up putting the old ones back on. I had a similar issue with aftermarket, cheap motor mounts I got for my Corolla. It was like using hockey pucks as replacements.

Really love your way of presentation...many youtubers only make an install video of coilovers but never managed to describe clearly what difference does they make. Looking forward if you can do different coilover reviews with a similar format!
Thanks chungman. I didn't want to cover the 'install' too much, as it's been done to death and it's really not that hard, people dont need to watch that... instead I wanted to focus on really giving these coilovers a chance and trying to show what they are really like.
A great experiment and a good video. A tip: when setting/checking the ride height, roll the car backwards & forwards to unload the suspension and sidewalls; as they will load up laterally when lowered from the stands/jacks.
I briefly mentioned in the video how i had to work the car a few times to get it where I wanted, however I didn't show or mention that its important to give the suspension some bounces and movement... so thanks for the tip, this is a good addition!

Sorry STAYUP, but I think you are mistaken on how i setup bump travel correctly. I did not setup anything to bottom out. I set it up to have the most possible bump travel while maintaining the desired ride height.
You're actually supposed to loosen all rubber bushing bolts and re torque when it's sitting on the ground level, or else the rubber bushings die
Did you tension the spring? I noticed u can take them apart with out a spring Compressor cus they can be adjusted. Maybe that noise is the spring weakly sitting on the upper and lower springs mounts? Idk. New shocks usually feel really firm new. I got new stock ones and had like no body roll for couple weeks. Then they loosed up to a stock feel.
Hi Salvatore, thanks for watching! I do believe the springs were seated correctly within their mounts - I find the 'noise' is just a result of the rough ride these offer on my little car.

surprisingly i actually like my ebay coil overs ( cx-racing ). however i have not had high end coil overs. i simply was switching from my stock ones to these.
They are 32 way adjustable, you can fully adjust preload etc. I actually love the feel of them. i have them with just a bit of preload and they arent favorite stiff or hard i just based it off going all the way hard and then 16 clicks out to be basically in the middle of soft and hard setting and then gradually worked a couple clicks towards hard.
But i noticed right off the bat the steering actually seemed easier as if it required less effort to turn in at higher speeds. i also noticed much less body roll as the car felt like it was more flat instead of wanting to tilt in turns.
and it actually handles bumps well. The car entirely is more predictable and steady in the canyons which is my primary style of driving. i've had them on the car for 3 years and they don't make any bad sounds, nothing has broken or come out of alignment. and i honestly would buy them again for a different car.

People give me crap for this haha but i have them in my mkiv toyota supra.
but i honestly have no issues with them so i have no regrets with using a affordable set of coil overs for that car. I mean don't get me wrong if i could id buy a nice high end set of coil overs for it.
The thing is though.. not all of us who own supras are exactly financially stable or wealthy. Its funny because people automatically assume that if you have a supra you must spend top dollar on them or nothing at all. but at the end of the day... its still a toyota.

mate i have had the maxpeeding coilover kit in my vt commodore for 2 over 2 years now. yes they are stiff but handling along with strutt braces and aftermarket sway bars the old vt handles like a dream.. and thats hard for a vt-vz... i put them in because they were cheaper than a new set of struts and rear shocks and havent looked back. the only knocking noise i got was from a lower ball joint. maybe you could have installed them wrong?
i have a picture of mine after 2 years and the shocks still bounce back like they should. cant post pic here though
I installed them correctly, they just aren't suited to the car. Perhaps the manufacturer has only one valving setup which is more suited to a 1600kg car rather than our little 950kg machine.
You can also stiffen or soften the ride by adjusting the damping, just need take off the cap on the top and turn it to the left. Very easy to do and that will definitely help the ride immensely...
To adjust the damping to be softer, turn the adjusting knob counter clock-wise. To make the damping stiffer, turn the adjusting knob clock-wise.
Actually, these coilovers have no damper adjustment.
Dude your just reaching to have a problem with them, this whole video your just looking for any excuse. I bought eBay coil overs and honest to god no problem. And I have them adjusted to what I needed and they work perfect for my mazda 3

I have those same brand coilovers for my VW GTI mk3 and they've been working fine for me for 2 years so far. They took almost a month to settle in and smooth out. But I haven't had any rattles or loss in dampening. They were really clunky for about a month tho. In my opinion, for a daily driver they are fine, but I would never expect them to hold up on the track. The coil itself holds up just fine but its hard to go wrong with a coil unless it snaps or changes geometry. The only thing that is lacking about them is the dampener. On mine the dampener and lower mount are one piece but on you're the dampener is a separate piece which I think is a good thing because you could just buy better dampeners that have the same threading and upgrade your coilovers. Also I had the same paperwork as you and where it says that the dampener is adjustable at the top its not true. Mine said the same thing but spinning that rod does nothing to the dampening.

I have these on my 2011 GT. They're the adjustable dampening ones and they work quite well. Valving and spring rate seem spot on to give a firm ride but not overly harsh. I do have an issue with one of my pillow balls binding then popping though. Minor inconvenience for the $230 USD I paid for them 🤣

its a pillow bearing, grease it and the knock stops, plus they have to bed in for bout a month then readjust.

But the valving and the way they handle bump and rebound is far beyond that of cheaper coilovers. Bilstein pss9 and Öhlins Road and track are fine examples of this
If "expensive" high quality coilover also ride harsh for you, you got the wrong spring rates for the driving your doing and/or have the damping set up wrong
Not if you use proper springs for your car and the driving you do.
If you just use whatever comes standard with the kit you will have a shitty ride indeed. Things do not have to be that way though.
@@fueledgti bilstein pss9s are way to bumpy. Had them on my rs6 and the back got launched into the air everytime i took a speed bump faster then 3 miles an hour.
And the car was barely lower then stock.
Never got them to work properly. Went back to koni sports and like them a lot more.
Then again, maybe i just got a bad set or something. Who knows.

In terms of a quality coilover that actually works, yes they are. It's all relative. You can easliy pay over $5000 or more for coilovers.... so $1200 or less for BC's is cheap.
For motorsport applications, even at an amateur level, $5-10k suspension setups are pretty common.

Sometimes you're also limited by what's even being made for your vehicle. BC Racing is one of the few companies that makes em for a PT Cruiser, so they've been on my "list" for possible options.

F***ing useless piece of junks...max speed rods i think are the worst budget coils....not the cheapest...but the worst...the ride is extremely stiff and makes the car undriveable.i had them on am e46 coupe and the back of the car was bouncing on the road,the back wheels were lifting of the ground.i also had ta technix witch were a lot better ...

Nah man, installed them on my VT Commy last week and they are a blast, no clunks, a tad bouncy in the rear but that is my fault for not enough spring preload, it handles 20x better than the stock suspension (my old rear shocks were blown), an absolute blast to throw around, not too bad comfort wise either, but I did get the adjustable damper ones.

Maybe a stupid question, but did you checked if the clunky noise came from the pillowballs in the top mount? As in disassebled view they seems totally dry, not a bit of grease on them - problem which has been noticed from a lot of maxpeeding users. As for damiping instead? What's your feedback - not considering noisy notes. Thanks.
Never a stupid question. Being double a-arm, pillow balls on an MX-5 miata are not really required. There isn't the levels of movement at the top mount like there is with say a mcpherson strut. I suspect the damping was the cause of the worst of the ride 'quality'.
Would you recommend going coilovers or just change the shocks? My mustang bounces alot and idk if i should go with coilovers or just upgrade my shocks
That depends on what sort of driving you are doing with your car and your intended budget.
had ebay coilover on my S13, loved them. 1/3 of a price of real coils. Didn't notice difference in the ride quality from brand name coils. And I didn't buy my S13 for the ride quality in the first place

Longevity, that is the real question...new & shiney out of the box, but how will they be in 6 mo, 1yr, 2yrs, etc...other differences is how they handle bump & rebound cycling...did you corner weight the n/a after a bit?
I got these a year ago just to replace the oems that previous owner never replaced and they're already rusting which started a few months after being installed and I live in Arkansas
No, the car was not corner weighted, really that would have been a waste of time. These things aren't worth the trouble.
I got a set of these for my '96 outback because what was on it when purchased were absolutely shot. They're a little stiff and they won't stay on the car long, but I needed something while I researched which forester setup would give me the most lift. For $300, they got the car back on the road and looking good in the interim.
They are certainly a cheap way to keep a car on the road when times are desperate.
depending on platform certain coilovers will work even if cheaper...Its the adjusting(preload, ride height, spring rate, and dapening rate), bumpsteer kit, and axels issues when going to low (bindinging or putting wear on bearings and ball joints and tie rod ends, thats where geometery is important and buying high quality adjustable parts that hold up, feel sturdy, and are put together once, the right way. Adjustments are key. Dual tube shocks are killers too...
Cost isn't the only factor, but in this case these things were poor quality and bad ride.

I do agree with you. I think he was very bias since the beginning, the whole "Speeding or Peeding" thing was hilarious 🤣 The same with the packaging. If you are buying a very affordable/low entry product, don't expect a Macbook Pro packaging style...come on buddy, those things were very well protected, as you said it correctly, what else would you expect? What that said, some info in the review was useful. In fact I am about to order this kit for an old project car that is on a budget...I hope I don't get the crashy ride though...I will give it a try. The well known coilovers are definitely over priced, so I am going with the Chinese Peeding version 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, thanks for the video Beavis.
Iv ran those coil overs on my s13 for about 1.5 years and I haven't had any of these problem that thump is you not having the right preload setting and or your coil over not being tight at the top.
I suspect the manufacturer never tested these coilovers on a car as light as the miata. Please note that spring preload does not alter ride quality, the spring rate is constant. And i can assure you they were 'tight at the top'. The poor ride is a result of bad design and lack of testing of the dampening rate in relation to the spring rate and vehicle geometry.
I suspect that too. They did not properly test them on many models of vehicles. Some have success with these, and some people don't. I personally tried every thing to make them stop making noise, (tightened the top fastener, all the nuts at the top mount, camber bolts, preload all that, pretty much everything, I have installed quality coil overs before and never had issues as much as I had with these! Took them off after a day of wasting time and swearing. Ive also heard that some people have received the wrong sets (rear set not aligning etc) so just do your research beforehand.
I just bought some of these maxspeedingrods and they seem good. the only issue I have had I had to drill out the stock holes on the front struts because they were slightly off. So far easy to adjust. Only other issue have to mark with a sharpie to count how many rotations of the sleeve. Mentioned firmness if you loosen the center bolt it makes softer.

FYI I noticed with cheap coilovers in general if you use an impact on the shock rod to tighten the nut down and if it causes the rod to spin in the shock body it can make the shock leak and then perform like crap.
It should be able to handle rotation of the main shock rod.... if not, that'd be pretty poor designing on the manufacturers part i guess.
It wasn't from just rotating the rod, but if it spun around a lot. Some people I've seen just take an impact to the top nut and spin the shock rod a lot before finishing.

My experiences with these coilovers on Lexus IS200:
Cons:
Two of the coilover bodies (the part with the threads) is too long which means either the front or the rear doesn't go as low without lowering the preload below 0.
The top hat for the rear doesnt line up perfectly with the body so you have to file a millimeter out of the hole in the shock tower to fit it trough.
Lacks the stock mounting brackets for ABS sensor wire, so you have to ziptie this on.
The threads are coated steel. The lower body is also coated steel. It does rust after a while. Mine are now seized.

Hey curious what wheel that is in your car and size I like the flat bottom and leather looks small like 330mm on Amazon I saw one that looked like that called circuit performance I believe what brand is yours ?
It is a cheap 'Drift' branded item. No idea on it's history or where it's available to buy, I just got it used with the car.
Just got these for my Civic, and installed them a week ago. They're definitely on a softer side compared to coilover sleeves (Ground Control) I've had in the past. But they're still stiff... Like, they absorb bumps very well without having a race-car-like ride. The ride quality isn't "jarring", its not so stiff where make it would make you cringe, It's very comfortable an smooth. There was a moment where another Civic was next to me on the highway (most likely on sleeved coilovers on possibly blown shocks) an was bouncing like crazy... looked like he was saddling a horse, while mine was a lot lower in height, an was completely still... floating on the road cruising 70mph, absorbing the road perfectly. These don't bounce at all, an I made sure they were preloaded before I installed. Some may not want a soft ride on a drift car / track car, but for a daily street car it's perfect imo. I love these.
I have these , how do you make them not bounce ? Does bounce mean blown shocks?

I had these in my car for 2 years. Lower my car 4 inches and rode great way better then stock. No rattles or anything at all car also only had 100,000 miles. I also only paid 300 for mine

Saying coilovers are soft there not meant to be soft there meant to be stiff and keep the car stiff
I didn't say they need to be soft, but they should be compliant and comfortable, they aren't meant to be crashy.
one the papers the coilovers came with it said it had adjustable dampening ? have you tried to mess with that at all to soften the ride up a little ?
There was no adjustment available on these ones. They presented no method for improving ride. Only height was adjustable.
Hi, I've got mine installed and notice that the rubber "washer" on my front right slipped off. Does it make any difference with or without the washers? It made a constant clunking noise as I drove down my driveway. I brought it to the mechanic and while on my way to the shop, the noise was gone, the mechanic told me that the rubber that slipped off is not the reason why it made that noise. He asked me to take a photo of it and send it to the ebay seller.
I would expect the difference should be minimal. But i wonder if the clunking noises you hear are just the way these coilovers are. I experienced a similar type of noise and put it down to the inferior design.
@@Bbeavis I went to another mechanic for second opinion and I've been told that the rear suspension doesn't have a reaction, it doesn't spring down making it bumpy, the rear wheels almost have the same distance (vertically) on the ground and when it's jacked up. Told me that the front springs are rotating instead of the bushing which is the reason for the noise. I've been ripped off. 🤔

I bought my e36 with racelands and i know the feeling he's talking about. It's pretty bad. BC coilovers were one of the first things I bought for my car. They were worth it for sure. I'd much rather do bilstein shocks with h&r springs over any coilovers under $1k.

He is right guys, these are absolutely not worth the time money or effort! I had them on my Corolla for not even one day. Save your money and invest in either lowered springs, with new shocks, or invest in a much higher quality brand, if you really love your car. These cause so much noise and rattle when you turn, regardless of how much you adjust them, put grease, etc. Come back and tell me I am right after you try them out. That is if they send the right ones.

They are pretty big and gradual humps, they can easily be taken at 40kmh in my everyday sedan.

Seemed like they weren't as abrupt as the speed bumps in my city or what other people may be used to. We have speed bumps and humps here, the humps are big and gradual usually on roads and the bumps are tall and abrupt usually found in parking lots.

I have these on my e36. There's no dampening adjustment though. Is there anything I can do to make them ride softer?
Mine had no dampening adjustment either. The valving or spring rates could be changed to soften them. I dont know if, at this budget level, it would be worth the effort though.
Get some proper springs suited to your car and the driving that you do and not the standard stuff that ships with these kits.
And that goes for any coilover set you buy. The good brands let you choose your springs though so you dont have to buy new ones. Then again, springs are cheap.
I had the same issue with the jom.de coilovers for my A4. The front could go super low, even tuck the tire by a few inches. But the lowest the rear would go there would still be a few inch wheel gap. Similarly, they were very rough over sharp bumps and cracks in the road. But on the smoother roads they were very nice.

And rightly so if it doesn't make sense to you. But I also don't want to encourage people to make their car worse by installing shit, even keeping oem parts is better than these china-spec coilovers. For me, I paid $5,000 for my car, but it probably has $15k or more worth of parts installed on it. I'm quite content with that because I do what I enjoy.

Just go with Eibach lowering springs for a better stance and performance on a budget. They are great springs, and cost about $300 on average (varies on make-model) They come in 2-3 tiers starting at around 1.2" drop. You will be quite surprised at how much better the car will handle as well for just a few hundo. great company, been around for a very long time, and most people's go to. Lifetime warranty and all springs specific designed and tested for each model.
@@Bbeavis hey my eclipse has 3 bad struts, I'm looking online and these ebay coilovers are a cheaper option than doing all 4 struts. would you suggest it? I'm not really worried about lowering and stancing it, I just want to get it to pass inspection. but I wouldn't mind if it was a little lower, 3g eclipse sits a little high.

The issue i had where one of mine was clunking is because i didn't tighten the top nut(On the strut) when it was on the ground and a small drive was all it took for the clunking to get much louder. Tighten while on the ground

They only make that clunking noise if the springs are tightened too much. I've had these on my 4g eclipse since I've bought it and have no problems. U should research how to adjust them before making a review
Hi Andrew, I'm sorry but I am not sure I agree. I have every confidence that they were correctly setup, and that spring preload does not induce a bad ride. Perhaps your eclipse is better suited to these coilovers than a smaller MX-5 Miata.
I had them.on my.5th gen.prelude I just sold, and my new car is a 1992 prelude. Guess what's going on them??!! MAXPEEDINGRODS! for 200 bucks, you cant go.wrong.
One thing I noticed is the( pivotball?) on the front ones makes a lot of noise... so this time 8m going to.pavk them with some kind of grease that isn't harmful to the rubber.
i want to see the follow up review i disagree even great coilovers make noise though.

I hoping there would be a long term update on these eBay coilovers. Give them time to settle and see how the behave and it they can last a while without breaking from everyday driving, not track days.

I got some of these because they where cheaper than the oem shocks springs. I replaced everything arms ball joints track rod ends the lot. I lowered by only 1 inch cause its for a honda accord workhorse not a racer. 200k miles on the clock. I got a non camber non damper adjustable set. It says it has a pillow joint but its a rubber bushing. Not sure how or why but lemme tell u this. Its absolutely beautiful to drive now. No noises whatever and its just right stiffness. Maybe twice the oem but it takes the bumps beautiful no clunks nothing. I lowered by 30mm only as I don't care about cosmetics. I guess time will tell

Ride quality is good. Stiffer through the bends not to bad over the bumps. I changed all of the arms and ball joints too. Installing these with worn arms / ball joints will amplify any noises coming from those worn parts.
That said be sure to tighten the top strut nuts as they came loose after 1 week !... the company also sent the wrong rear shocks. They sent shocks for the saloon model not the estate despite me giving the the reg and specifying estate. The company did give me a partial refund and il flog them on, but I have to say the company hasn't a clue what its doing saying things like "can u modify them on" when the suspension is completely different on the rear lol

Angel Martinez cut springs aren't bad at all as long as u have good. Struts but they do wear the struts out quicker

He is making an honest and transparent review on a cheap set of coil overs. I do not see anything wrong with that and most of the youtubers praising this shithole product have been sponsored as nothing negative is stated or just a minor con is told. Im glad BEAVIS has made a video on these coilovers as I am now more knowledgable that 'cheap coil overs are not the way to go if you are after a quality product', therefore, buying a genuine cheap set for $1200 will allow for decent quality and will last for many years to come.

That is the luxury of the internet, you can just keep searching until you find the answer that you want to hear. :-P
His advice is accurate though. On my older cars i used TA technix coils. Its like ebay coils but with a german brand behind it.
And even those where the worst fucking crap ive ever laid my money on.
First of i had to drill the hole on the coil for the lower control arm, because it was to small. They didnt hold the alignment at all.
They rattled and bumped even though everything was tightened to spec. And since i live in sweden, they became proper rust "towers".
One thing ive learned. You should not cheap out on coilovers.
I got these installed professionally. No complaints here, no clunking at all, great purchase for them, I feel them to be actually decent an drive well.

I actually bet that this guy adjusted the shock tension while the coilovers were mounted, hence the clunking from the loose springs
That clunky sound happened on my NA '96 on Koni shocks with FCM 46 mm bump stops - but they functioned as intended. I just didn't ever understand what was causing the noise.

I’ve been running these cheap coil over kit for 6 years now but you need the upgraded shock option for dampening 32 wat adjustments for an additional 150.00 all around makes all the difference in ride quality! When I installed them ppl said there crap but my opinion is for street use not track use there perfect they haven’t leaked or gone bad in 40 k 6 years on my 2001 Bmw 330i sedan been perfect !!
I haven't seen an adjustable option for the MX-5 Miata.

I've been looking at a set of tein street basis Z and they're $550 US with no top hat, you have to use the stock top hat, the next step up the flex model is pushing $800 USD. Like the other comment, just because it's made in China doesn't mean it's cheaply made because most of everything you get is from China weather it's shipped to your local store and you buy it there or you buy it directly from China and it's shipped to you it was still loaded in a shipping container and sent to your country. There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive

There's a difference between a good brand with real engineering and RnD that made in china to a crappy chinese knock off.
I got these on my Miata. They're really not too bad. Had for over a year and still running fine. Decently harsh, but not worse that any other "track focused" coilover.
Interesting, I found them worse than every other coil over I've ever used.

If you need it lower you can use a shorter spring. Looks like they are 70 ID and 180mm long, you may be able to get a way with a 150mm long spring.
Very true. Or I suppose an alternate ghetto solution would be to shorten the lower shock mount so that the spring perch can be lowered more - however the spring would become unseated.
The real issue is, there is a lack of rear travel .... actually no the real issue is the shocks are just generally pretty crap hah.

It's funny how you keep mentioning how the packaging was rough and quick but effective. I would take that as a compliment if I was the Chinese manufacturer. They ride that razor edge so perfectly of cutting corners and being as janky and rough as possible, while still giving an expected level of quality and utility when all is said and done. It is innovative and skillful and it's part of the reason they dominate the world with merchandise. Why take the extra costly man hours and expensive resources of having perfectly cut and custom shaped nice foam inserts to protect during shipping, when they have a bunch of random foam strips left over that they could just cut up. They are making the best out of what is around them and thinking on the fly effectively.
As for the maXpeedingrods (and I love that name it's the only thing I've ever considered getting tattooed on my body because I just think it's that good) I have had a set on my Matrix now for a few years and they finally wore out but they were great for the years they worked and I don't blame them for wearing out I drove them through harsh vermont winters with salted roads and terrible construction bumps and bridge joints. But 200 dollars to last your suspension for 2 or 3 years is actually an acceptable price if you just considered them wearable parts. The rears still work the fronts have just locked up from corrosion and dirt and salt and debris. I just ordered a replacement set and plan on just unfortunately putting my stock suspension in for the winter this winter. Even though it looks ridiculous with 5 inch fender height gaps with the stock stuff. It's just not worth ruining the lowering susp.

Most manufacturer suspension can and does last the life of the car, so $200 for suspension to only last 2 years, is in fact, shite.

I have TEIN FLEX Z coils on my car. Everyone online says they are great. However, they drive like dogshit. Do you have any knowledge on these coilovers ? I have set everything as per TEIN's instructions. Should I let a suspension place take it for a drive to see if anything can be done or is thay just how it is ?

Still I would expect a reasonable product from a reputable brand like TEIN. If you know someone with experience and that you trust, definitely get them to drive your car for some feedback.

wrong. adjustable damping makes all the difference. i just put BC coilovers on my lexus and the ride quality is very much like factory with the damping set +10 clicks from full soft
ElectricRides check your preload, check the heights are even left to right after that adjust the needle valve to change damping force

Sounds like they work pretty good for the price. Not sure there going last as long as SKUNK2 full coilover or the OMNI I ride on my CRX but when you need something that works and can bring down the height without breaking the bank then that might e the way to go.

There's not any safe or easy solution. the shock body from maxspeedingrods on the rears is too large for the MX-5 chassis. You could loosen the spring perch more, but that wouldn't be ideal.

I have these on my 500 whp Civic and they're terrible, but a damn sight better than the POS sleeve eBay coilovers, and they match my control arms and rear tie brace. I have a family, so even though I have such a crazy engine, I still have to watch what I spend on certain items and the eBay coilovers were a cheap way to have an adjustable ride height without keeping my blown struts and ditching the lowering springs.
Wow, the only question I have is... how can you invest in your engine enough to have a 500hp civic and cheap out so much on coilovers? Perhaps some second hand brand name coilovers would have been a good alternative?

BEAVIS Motorsport because he probably did what most every other car guy I know does...spend an ungodly amount of money on the engine and cheap out on everything else. I did the same thing on my e30 318i. Spent 4000 dollars on ls1-6speed swap and left the rest of the car bone stock....for 2 weeks. Ended up having to do everything short of dropping a different car onto the drivetrain. Better rear diff, axles, m3 brakes, blah blah...I have way more tied up into this BMW than it ever was or will be worth but its a lightweight and now very fast car.

I'm sure it'd be fairly easy to do something like that if someone was really committed to it.
Bought a set of these fot 5L VT SS over a year ago with adjustable dampening and found they improved ride no end from the sloppy originals . However front ride height must be lower then FE2 by 10mm to have plenty of thread at the base of the strut , but i wanted it lower anyway but appently better ride height is gained with adjustable top hats. Dampening was set at 3 clicks down from Hard and feels ok for the price on crappy country roads.
Glad to hear they have worked for you on the VT. I think these things are more suited to larger cars with a bit more weight to them.
