Im not super good player but from my experience most important is basically to push whenever u wanna recall or roam. Otherwise u lose lots of farm and they get lots of farm.
@@nikolinaderpson3841 If you want to roam or reset, ideally you need to first crash the wave into the enemy turret when possible. That way you don't lose any farm and don't dilute the value of whatever you are doing elsewhere. If you want to fight, you should either setup a freeze or posture agressively on a wave that is even in the middle (or relatively even). If you instead push, the wave will move to the enemies turret and fighting will be more difficult and dangerous. If you want to stay safe and farm, that's usually because you are weaker than your opponent. Ideally you can farm the wave in a safe spot, either under your turret or in front of it. If the enemy lets you, you can try to quickly push it and leave, that shouldn't be possible if you are weaker though. Not quite one sentence, but I didn't wanna bs add a bunch of commas and make it less readable...🙃If you have any more questions, please ask them in my Discord server so that other people can follow the conversation if they want to.
For ranged champions, going for plates when you COULD permafreeze is another viable play, especially when a different enemy laner is fed and your laner is happy to drop farm and just stay in xp range until the jungler comes to fix the wave. This allows your laner to catch up with the game average but puts you further ahead to have an easier time dealing with the fed enemy from another lane. Your jungler can also lane gank from brush to counter a roam timer while you are hitting plates. Whether or not your jungler is hovering should influence what you are able to achieve with wavestate.
I remember a game from a few years ago, where I froze the wave for a solid 5-8 minutes in top. Whenever my lane opponent walked up, I killed him. I ended up with a 3lvl advantage and like a 1k-1,5k gold advantage.
This is why top is so unplayable in a bad matchup if jg never helps. You are basically not playing the game if the enemy can tank the minion wave and freeze every wave if you try to shove to get a clean wave reset. This lane is very knowledge heavy for that reason and I love learning top, but sometimes it feels miserable lmao Keep freezing my friend.😎
@sonnenblume4 its a shame that I play ad tf in solo lane aint no freezing my lanes u do that I'll have u in purgatory with no waves crashing or u can let me freeze the wave n I'll just first tower with or without ur jg help😂😂😂

Wow I expected you to have more followers. Great video. I'm diamond and I still got a lot of insight from this video. I like your dry humor and how calm you are. You earned my like and subscribe. I have just one wish - I'm mid/bot main and consider myself strong laner and not that much of a roamer because I prefer to have my own advantage and make enemy laner weaker than me rather than team advantage. However due to that I often find myself overextending or getting overwhelmed by at least 3 enemies thus losing the harrassment and lead I created. I almost always am ahead of my laner or when I get camped or have a really poor perfomance at least even with them. I want to elevate my gameplay and just die less to keep my lead steady. If you could make a video on how to avoid these type of situations I would really appreciate it
Awesome content def subbing and also i want to ask if you would make a vdieo about mid to late game macro plays because im really struggling whith that in particular
I was actually 99% done with my lategame macro guide, but then my harddrive exploded, so all of the footage was lost. Definitely gonna be one of my next 3 videos.
8:30 I kinda don't understand why would sylas want to achieve even wave here. isn't like keeping the wave longer under his tower making the bigger bounceback (stacking 2waves then crashing) better? u get longer timer for roams/reset/whatever u wanna do on the map and also it makes wave to meet up closer to his tower forcing ryze to approach closer making him susceptible to ganks and also if wave set up properly makes him hard to actually hit the wave (since is pretty close to enemy tower + is cannon wave). I just kinda don't understand why ryze would be safier there: he needs to approach the wave, sure wave is bounce backing and sylas needs to deal with it in the near future but after building big enough wave and clearing the next that arrives (fastpushing) it makes him achieve very good roam timer.
Good question, here's a couple of things to consider: 1. Ryze does not HAVE to approach the wave, it's slowpushing to him, so once the second wave arrives he can just stand all the way back. 2. Sylas main goal right now is not to get a roam timer, but to win a trade while he's stronger 1v1 than Ryze. That way Ryze won't be able to contest the push on future waves either, because Sylas has kill pressure. Or he just solo kills ofc. That's not possible with a slowpush. 3. Crashing a big wave into turret does not help much against someone like Ryze, since he will instantly clear the whole wave no matter how big it is. Then he will follow the roam regardless, so the only benefit is that the next wave will take longer to arrive, because Sylas crashes faster. To summarize, Sylas wants to play for lane right now. If he slowpushes, Ryze will play safe and eventually create a slowpush himself with the bounce, on which he can play very safe again. Sylas won't find any 1v1 at all, unless Ryze randomly walks when the wave is pushing to him. This matchup can be very rough for Sylas if he allows Ryze to play with stacked waves.
Thank you so much video was very helpful! One thing I can't understand with recalls and wave management is that when should I proxy and when should I just crush and recall immediately. (I'm playing top 90 % of the time and I'm a Aatrox OTP currently sitting on Dia 2 with juicy 60%wr.)
Kata had TP and was looking to base anyways, so she wanted to just get as much farm as possible. I think this was a clip from a chall Ryze vs GM Kat, but it's wild that Ryze did not kill Kat cuz he thought the E + Q would bounce... made me SO ANGRY anyways.....
@@ShoCoaching Hey idk if you got it right or not but i was referring to ryze's super clean positioning, very unlucky for that EQ not connecting at the end. I know this is pretty common among pros, still this was one of the most confident display of it that i've seen

he low key kinda showed it in the video: Sylas got a bad trade and wants to recall, Ryze maintains a freeze to make him lose minions and have the wave closer to his tower to avoid ganks and play more agressive.
The enemy having no mana can also be a good reason to freeze longer because if you are in his head he wants to cleanly crash and recall for mana/items and if he doesnt have tp that's basically impossible to achieve whithout losing minions and having roam prio for teamplays.
I choose to actively not learn wave control because its not something that was designed to happen by riot, it shouldnt be something that is mandatory to learn imo

Only freeze after they recall if you know what you're doing bcs they will come with hp and mana and item advantage (ideally you can set up a gank this way)
