Thank you Rich! I always encourage people to build their own cars/trucks. You learn so much and have so much fun putting the puzzle together. Happy to see this becoming more available in the crawler segment of the hobby😎
Agreed John, I’ve got this setup with the 15t crawl master(12t out of stock). If you cut the sides and front of the “small” battery pocket, you can lower the front of the battery even more, so it sets just above the driveshaft for lower CG. I understand 5000 mah for long range fixed wing.....but silly for crawling and trail performance😎
@@TheRCNetwork heck yeah man! I love the videos I always have I don't know what it is about your layout of how you do your videos but I like it. The music the lighting the professional look of the stage setup. Keep it up man
Just finished building one of these as well. Manual is the best I’ve read in a kit build. Also good to note that they do provide you with tools in the bag if you don’t have a nice set of MIP’s.
Shots fired over the manual..... seriously though, they have it very much refined in comparison. Looking forward to a nice summer build series. Thank you Rich
Hey Rich super excited to see this come together. Got back into RC after finding inspiration your Yeti Score build. I absolutely love the scale trophy truck but want a trail truck I can beat on a little more without worrying about replacing a hard to find part. After that $$$$ build I want something cheaper but dependable & plenty of LHS part support. This kit came highly recommended so patiently waiting to see what you do to it! Would be nice to see fully waterproof electronics while we’re at it!
Nice! The TRX-4 Sport is a great kit! Yes, fully waterproof electronics will be going in. I'm working on a couple other projects right now, but will be hitting this late July
hey been saving for a crawler was thinking of getting the rtr traxxis trx4 sport but thought this would be a fun project when will episode 2 be out i want to replicate your build and do it right, thanks
I did notice one mistake in the instructions of my unassembled kit, not sure if it's correct in the Sport kit or not. When attaching the servo horn, it tell you to put in a screw that is not long enough. I found this out the hard way by sheering the spline off the servo.
For me, in the war of the $300-500 RTR-ish crawlers/scalers - the TRX-4 wins by a mile. it just works, not issues, no crappy instructions (yeah, you Axial) and it's damn durable with no corners cut (yeah, you Element)
It's not terrible, but a little shy in the torque department, especially for a crawler. Take a look at the AGFRC A73CHLW - it's a powerhouse for about $50....but you'll need a BEC or an ESC that can handle higher voltage servos......this will be true for any upgraded servo you buy.....if you're in the market for an ESC, the Hobbywing 1080 is a direct drop in and includes a built in BEC for this type of servo
Thomas- yes, love Holmes motors and the 1080. I’m more of a rock guy, so crawlmaster 15t, 12% overdrive and 850 mah in a LCG tray, body with no accessories😎
@@TheRCNetwork Is it possible to build a trx 4 completely from scratch? I found all the electronics and stuff but I can't find the portal axials, links, or other gears and screws.
Not yet....I got tangled up in a bunch off giveaways during December....but I just ordered the last few parts for this series...should see a new vid in a couple of weeks here
The other day i messed up with wires on mine and the video helped me make the remote do what it was supposed to do. Example: when i turned the wheel the car just went 0 to 20 in 000.000.1 seconds
Hello, I'm pretty new to the hobby and have saved up for the Traxxas slash 4x4 vxl. I have recently purchased it and looking to upgrade it but my parents won't let me spend any more money on it. Could anyone help me out and maybe send me any spare parts/batteries that you have laying around? Thanks:)
I mentioned it later in the video....not a set amount as of now, but I will start tallying it during the series. My goal is to put the least expensive, quality part on the build that should last the lifetime of the truck. That is, I'd rather recommend a $35 servo that I know has a good rep. vs a $29 servo just because it is cheaper.
For the quality of the kit, portal axles that are proven, part support, after market support, all metal links, best scaler shocks on the market (hell, people put these shocks on the VP truck), literally a $100+ body set, wheels/tires....the list goes on. Worst case, you can re-sell the wheels/tires and body set and it would take about $100 off the price of the kit. $280 is a bargain
@@TheRCNetwork I would have to disagree with you on this rich as the Redcat gen 8 is only $19 more RTR, I think this is a little on the expensive side for what it is and I am a huge Traxxas fan. Great video as always!
@@SteadfastRC It does have that extra Traxxas 20% vs other RC manufacturers.....The TRX-4 does give a good value for the pricing though. Durability, dependability, part support, engineering (TRX out did themselves on the TRX-4). Like I said in the later part of the video....just because something might be cheaper, it might not be the right value. I want to build an inexpensive truck I can recommend......and after countless battery packs on my TRX-4 chassis kit....I can recommend the Sport. Also, keep in mind, we will be outfitting the Sport with great value electronics....that you won't have to replace after a couple of runs unlike most RTR's......sorry for rambling. but as always, any RC is better than no RC. If RedCat is your value, I value that opinion

Agreed on building....the last time I counted I had over 100 kit builds under my belt.....and this one was one of the easiest
@@TheRCNetwork And the most complicated/painfull one?
Love the build series. My two pennies: Hobbywing 1080, Holmes brushed motor, Flysky radio, Tattu 850mAh 3S - all scream budget & quality.

Great points CR
i guess Im kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream new series online ?

We need the second video! This might actually be what makes me pull the trigger on this kit
It's going here soon. Stay tuned!

Wow, a Traxxas kit! Nice 👌!
The TRX-4 Chassis kit (the blue truck in the video) was my first Traxxas Kit, and I was blown away at the details and the performance
Shots fired over the manual..... seriously though, they have it very much refined in comparison. Looking forward to a nice summer build series. Thank you Rich
Thanks Andrew. Yes, shots fired on the manual......some owner's manuals are not worth the paper they're written on....this one is top notch though
Thinking about getting into crawlers, would love to see this series continued!😁
It will continue here soon. Just wrapping up some promised videos here first
Did it come with a servo horn? Metal? Thanks, keep us updated with this one!
Plastic only on this one
wow 1:05 It looks really great!
That footage is so great! I love re-watching how the truck just works

The sport has locked diffs

No further videos on this truck ATM

Hobbywing quicrun 1080, reedy radon motor, powerhd servo and some old radio 😀
