I love my Defender and my wife loves her sport TRX 4. Best trucks in our collection. We love competing with them. Got to say that her sport is a beast in the rocks with just steel wheels and proline super scamper tires as mods. She built custom high clearance bumpers and sliders that are a must.
Some really solid mods!! 1080 is one of if not thee best brushed ESCs out there. AGF servo is a solid servo that make se incredible power. Interested in seeing what you do with the sport kit!!
I did the chassis kit also. Being a former racer I care little about the body being all fancy, it’s going to get destroyed. The trx4 is an amazing vehicle! Mine is basically stock, just a few parts to strengthen the chassis and brass portal covers in the front. I do run two smaller 1400mah batteries, one up front and one in the stock tray. Keeps a little weight in the rear. I haven’t needed to change the motor or esc yet but have the 1080 n a HH 12T crawmaster sport setup waiting. I’m impressed every time I take mine out for a run on the rocks, the crawler TA tires are insane!
I love the TRX4 I have 3 sports and a Defender , my blazer and Defender has got every anodized red aluminum part that is for them very little plastic and love every bit of them
As for your end result, do you think its a better option to spend the extra $100 and get the Bronco setup RTR out of the box and start there, or does the chassis kit give you a better end result? I am debating on going between the chassis kit or just buying a RTR bronco kit. Mainly because I know im going to mod it to death, so do I just start with something bare and build it how I want it to begin with, or just buy a RTR setup and throw a battery in it and have fun.
In the end, the Bronco and the Kit I built are nearly identical. You'll lose the expertise you get from building a kit, other than that, you're set. The Bronco is a great body, BTW
I've ran my trx4 sport since they came out, only things I've done was change the stock servo for the $25 dollar cheapo on Amazon and a set of deepwoods tires. It's a beast performance wise and I've yet to break anything! I started out in the hobby with a Redcat gen7 sport and have done LOTS of mods and upgrades to it and the trx4 beats it hands down right out the box...but still love my redcat lol.
Hey Rich, the Axial RR10 Bomber interior fit perfectly in the Sport Body so it would probably fit that body also. You would have to work out a rear support where the other has the underside of the bed surface to use. Great video!
I like that body.Nice setup. My sport is never finished.I bought the sport, as it was far cheaper than the bronco.I should of just bought the bronco. Best and most recent upgrade was a axe foc 3300kv combo. WOW! It upgraded my quickrun setup by far. Love my trx4!!
@@TheRCNetwork Yea the axe system is crazy. I might buy another traxxas kit and use all my take off parts from mine.I have literally replaced every part needed for the kit.Can never have too many rc's!!
TRX Sport is such a platform with good performance out of the box. After your upgrades, this is ready to dominate 💪 Do you prefer these tires over the uber popular Hyrax? looking forward to the new kit project!!! Thanks Rich!
Yes, the TRX platform in general is great....which is why I picked up a second. As for the BFG's - I'm a huge fan right now. I think for fast stuff, the hyrax is still king....but these BFG's keep getting better with each run
Awesome vid my rc friend i have a trx4 sport and a trx6 getting ready to pick up a chassis kit 👍🏻 you need to check out the protek 4100 mah shorty packs they are still small enough for the front tray and i get over 2 hrs run time 👍🏻💯
They really weren't available at the time....but I do like the Hobbywing set up better...as it uses a regular program card vs. what ever castle link the Holmes' uses
It's hard to beat the HW price and I hear you about the convince of programming cards. I've become used to the Castle/Holmes programming parameters though, particularly the throttle/brake curve adjustment.
They're the SSD RC Steel Slot wheels - a complete pain the ass to assemble on a tire - hard to clamshell them and orientate them, as they're not even from slot to slot. They have 6 lug nuts and 5 slots, so you have to keep rotating them until you can get the slots to align with the lugs. I ended up running longer screws to clamshell them initially until I could get the tire mount started. I ran the truck in water and had to dry the foams and never put them back on. www.ssd-rc.com/1.9-steel-slot-beadlock-wheels-(black).html
Rich awesome videos sir !! Do you recommend the Traxxas 400 oz servo ? I just want something to run with the Traxxas bec and Traxxas brushed esc. Thank you
Are you not concerned about running trails with the front overdrive installed, my understanding is that whilst ideal for crawling the difference in front and rear gearing is not suitable for trail running.
It's not ideal....it can strain the transmission and driveshafts. But for the times that I'm not crawling with it, it's minor vs. the advantage of overdrive while crawling
hi T R... ' nice traxxas truck... i have 4 good R/C traxxases... 1- bandit 1- rustler 1- stampede with 6 wheels / 2 ESCs / two 550 motors / 2 packs of batterys and 1 reciever 1- villain boat all 4 models are 550 motors... already video in my channel

The TRX-4 Sport to me is the ultimate scale trail running, back yard basher!!! This rig takes a licken, and keeps on ticken!!! Brick-Shit-House!!!!! 😎
I agree 100%
Looks great! Love the bumpers. That door sticker looks like a. Lol
I like it though....
Nice! I like the front bumper! my TRX4 sport has been a awesome crawler that never let me down yet!
It's a great bumper and just doesn't get in the way...also love how it looks now
Some really solid mods!! 1080 is one of if not thee best brushed ESCs out there. AGF servo is a solid servo that make se incredible power. Interested in seeing what you do with the sport kit!!
It's weird, I've had this 1080 on hand for a couple of years now....just never have ran a brushed motor. And, yes, I'm a huge AGF believer!
Great truck. No doubt. Look forward to that Sport build, Rich.
Thanks Moon Man! It's gonna be a great build......but I also have a VS410 Pro sitting here......which to build first??
I've started with the TRX4 Bronco 1979, then picked up a TRX6 AMG G63 and today I picked up a TRX4 Sport High trail launch edition.
Nice! I really like the look of the Sports

I really like the TRX4 over everything else, especially of the $500 crawlers
hi, great creation! Can I ask which blue paint did you use for the body?
It’s Pactra’s metallic Blue…..but I believe they shuttered.
@@TheRCNetwork thanks!

Thank you! TRX-4 Sport is the best.
I keep hearing that. Looking forward to seeing how it builds
I love my trx4 sport, definitely a bulletproof rig! Super video!
Thanks for stopping by!
Nice Rich!
Just upgraded to the hw1080 and crawlmaster 15t(only motor in stock!) and what a difference in crawling control😎
Great choice! Yeah, the motors are all out of stock right now
just got the kit and a hobbywing axe 2700kv combo. great vid

That torque master PRO or Expert is the best upgrade I've ever done
I can't agree more!

First truck I bought trx4 sport best thing i ever did
Yep, I'v begotten rid of my other similar crawlers and sticking with this one and building the sport
Trx 4. Still all stock and about 6 month old. Got servo still to install but motor is faithfully and good
nice! Keep her going!
Normally I dont like mis match camper shell. But your trx4 just pulls it off. I like the new forge car fiber wallet.
The wallet is legit....really like it

Thanks Johnny. Yes, the 400 does great, especially if you already have the Traxxas BEC installed - it's plug and play
Big Al Yakima,Wa: Great upgrades. I have a trx4 rtr & trx4 assembly kit. Proline raptor body many upgrades. Trx6 will be home soon God Bless
Nice! Thanks for watching Al!
I have the sport looking for upgrades like your suggestions I have a axial bomber interior fits well not yet installed just dry fitted.
Nice! I have one here as well, will see if it fits
Very tempted by a crawler. I don't have any natural or man made crawling terrain around me though, which makes the purchase questionable.
They are fun...and you'd be surprised what would be considered "crawler" area!
So that camper and body are 1 piece? They cant be separated?
Yes, the Camper body is all one piece.
How does the Holmes hobby brushed motors compare with the tekin brushed motors?
It's the best out of all of the mini/micros
Looks great. Did you lower the body? I like that look.
As much as I could....lower is better in scalers
@@TheRCNetwork How did you get it lower if you don't mind me asking?
wow that front bumper is mega bucks
it just works and isn't a plow on the front of your truck...in the grand scheme of handmade steel bumpers, its right line, price wise
Are you not concerned about running trails with the front overdrive installed, my understanding is that whilst ideal for crawling the difference in front and rear gearing is not suitable for trail running.

Have you got a link to the sliders please
There's a link in the video description for the bumpers....which includes the sliders
what battery tray do you have?
I run the included front tray, with an added vector strap...I deleted the center tray all together
amazing!!!
Thank you!!
Love it
