Hey Wing, loved the intro :) Scorpius is one of the best PVE bounty hunters in Star Citizen, wrecks most AI bounties or Service Beacons up to high threats and has one of the most impressive "major torque imbalance" resistance in game. Flies very well even without parts and being heavily hit in JumpTown 😁Was one of my most used vessel in Jumptown, except light fighters, I was a good support :D
Thank you! And I totally agree, the ship sort of defies expectations in some ways because it's fragile but also very durable as long as you don't mind continuing the fight with less than the ideal number of weapons lol
Amazing video as always , thanks for putting in the work! That said, hit registration and server performance has been so horrible since 318, I can’t bring myself to play this game anymore. I hope it improves sometime in the next year..
Thanks for checking out the video! And yeah I agree, it's been a bit of a struggle, especially with the infinite s2 shields. It's not fixed in 3.20 either, but the greater number of bounties does make the issue less prevalent. Still, I totally agree in giving the game some more time to sort out some more issues and checking in later
Hey man! Have you had a go with the Ares in 3.20 yet? It was only mentioned in a deleted Spectrum thread, but they gave it some fixed assist back, and greatly reduced the spread on larger gatlings, so both should be much better now. Regarding what you said about gimbals being worse for tanky targets because they always aim for center of mass: sub-targets.
Yeah I have tried the ares, they're both significantly better in 3.20.... like A LOT better. The Ion particularly is extremely good now. Combined with the fact that VHRTs are now a much tankier set of enemies across the board, I think the starfighters will be great ships come 3.20 for pve bounties. For sub-targetting, I wish there was a way to subtarget all different parts of the ship. But for example with reclaimers, you can't subtarget the back section, only the engines and a turret and one or two other things.
There is no need to have your power on shields when fighting a reclaimer, just get in the turrets dead angle and you're completely safe, and its even easier in lighter fighters. Thanks for the vid !
Thank you so much! They don't always have issues but they're definitely not consistent in my experience. In contrast, the cross section missiles felt like they almost always hit as long as i launch them from 4-5k away
Interesting. I replaced the Tempests on my Scorp with Dominators before even flying the ship because I heard how good EM's were. I've been having not-so-good hit rates with the Dominators. I will put the Tempests back on and try them out. Good Video.
Thank you! There's keybindings that you can set in the advanced controls customization menu to start, stop, and reset the timer. I set all of them to the "0" key since that was unused for me. By default, it's not set so you have to go and set it.
Looking at the 3.20 bounty target ship pools, do you think running torpedo boats like the Retaliator or Eclipse will be even more prevalent? Those new VHRT targets seem a bit tanky for something like a Vanguard.
I absolutely do! But i haven't earned enough money to get a torpedo boat in the PTU yet to actually test it out. I'm curious because at least in the PTU, all of the turrets on these ships were active and firing, so I'm not sure if torpedos will be able to hit with an incoming storm of laser fire. The Vanguard does do okay for VHRTs still, but it definitely is a bit more challenging.
Great video as always pal. Hopefully when Pyro eventually hits the game it will offer a few new gameplay loops and doesn't just feel like a reskinned Stanton!
Thanks so much! And omg I never even considered that it'd feel like a reskinned stanton.... At the very least the shipping/refueling/repair loops should be more fleshed out, right? And maybe even crime and bounty hunting? But yeah as far as the planets/moons I think they'll feel pretty similar other than different colors and plants/rock formations on them. Would be great if we could get slightly larger settlements, beyond just a few buildings and 2 pads.
How about some settlements with friendly ai that you can do missions for? Hopefully proper cargo hauling missions will be in the game too by then; from ones aimed at the solo space trucker to group missions that require multiple cargo haulers and escorts to fend off hostiles. Taxi missions as well. More gameplay loops that make more ships relevant.
@@sillothian4618group cargo missions sound kind of awesome, not gonna lie. I didn't even consider those. Would be a lot of fun to do missions with a fleet lol
No need to apologize! So the Scorpius has 16 size 2 missile slots, so you should be able to load 16 of whatever size 2 missiles you like. The thing is, you can't mix and match missiles on a given rack. Since there are 4 racks, hat means you can load 4 different types of missiles. You need to unequip all of a given type of missile on a rack before it'll show you the other types of missiles you have available at the location that you're at. Also, you'll want to make sure that your ship is repaired so that the rack itself isn't damaged beyond capability of being used. Sometimes if you store a ship that's taken critical damage like that it can bug it out. It's a rare bug but it does happen, so that might also be what you're seeing. But most likely the issue is that you need to manually unequip all of the other missiles on the racks first.
"NPC missions don't have distortion damage" Technically not correct when it comes to Beacons, since they can have a Prospector in their enemy list (hat have distortions for whatever reason...). But to be fair, you're unlikely to get shut down by 2 Distortions from a Prospector, and the Video is based on Bounties, not Beacons. Still wanted to mention it :)
Fair point, thanks for bringing that to my attention! If someone needs military shields to protect them from a prospector, I think my videos are probably not going to be of much use to them anyway lol
@@WingZeroType I hear your list in the video, doesn't sound like it's better though :D Carrack, for real? I guess with the same 30k/90k payout xD I'll stick to beacons, since something changed in the last weeks and they're nearly everywhere and available o.O
@@Hurric4ne_ My guess is that in the last week star citizen has had a lower player count due to starfield releasing lol. But yeah same payouts and tankier enemies across the board. So bounty hunting is getting more interesting and varied, but unfortunately also lower average payouts.
Thank you! And nope, capacitors are completely unrelated to powerplants, more powerplants provide more power for turning systems on and redundancy incase of damage/failures. The capacitors, and therefore the pilot dps of both scorpius variants are the same.
Been trying out rattlers on some of my racks and am not seeing great results in locking. Going back to all Tempest. Am running panthers but had tried the FL33 loadout for a while but went back to repeaters for fire rate/magazine size.
Well the funny thing is repeaters will have more shots in the magazine but the magazine actually lasts longer with cannons. But maybe you like faster depleting magazines and that's what you mean. But yeah the projectile speed of the repeaters is so much nicer to use than cannons.
@@WingZeroType I agree. I like the speed and the number of shots I can take with repeaters. I'm no ace and am not connecting most shots and while cannons do more damage I have less shots to take before regen. If I was an ace, sure I'd rather more damage with every shot. I need to account for how many shots I can take and what % of my ammo pool can be misses. Have done same with my 600i loadout changing the M7As to all Galdereen. Please keep these videos coming. Also really liked your Corsair video. You had mentioned in that issues with getting Service Beacons to pop and at the time I had no issues, now I'm going all over trying to get them rolling into my contracts. When I finally do they usually keep getting offered during that session.
@@Spork82Yeah that makes a lot of sense, and thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate you letting me know you enjoy the videos, helps make all the time that went into them worth it :) I feel like what you're describing about beacons is the experience i had shortly after they were introduced but lately i barely see them at all except on PTU, where I get offered a billion of them b/c there aren't any other takers lol.
You can! but oftentimes the subtarget won't hit the part of the ship that you want, and even if you're subtargetting the rear of the ship if you're still facing the front your shots will still be absorbed by the infinite front shields.
I assume you're asking for combat? There isn't really a "best" ship, depends what metrics you're using. If you're looking for aUEC/hr the best ship for pve is the retaliator doing group ERTs and ERTs. If you're lucky and one of the chosen ones and are getting a lot of beacons, you can use the connie, corsair, or 600i - there are tradeoffs between each but for a pilot that can manage each ship well the corsair probably comes out ahead for beacons. For pvp, it's usually a light fighter, the gladius and arrow are pretty good, but the blade is also really good. Most larger ships have a blind spot that these agile light fighters can take advantage of. If you're in atmosphere though, the agility of the light fighters is hampered and then you probably want something more like a hurricane
@@WingZeroType the retaliator is a sexy ship but only fires torp's from the pilot seat. I guess I want something that can do both. I'm going after my first ship besides my starter.
@@WingZeroType maybe a better way to put it is I want for PvE but if players attack me I want to be able to deal with them. Also the Corsair is clunky and ugly.
@@RelentlessBRWell the best ships for pve aren't going to be good solo for pvp. The good news is that if you're in a pve combat ship you're rarely going to get randomly attacked by players that can actually kill you. They'd need to coordinated with a ship that can prevent you from quantuming away and also able to take you out. If it's a solo player you can always just run away. I'd still recommend ships like the 600i and Constellation then since you don't want a retaliator or Corsair. The eclipse is another torpedo boat that also has guns and can actually fly ok in atmosphere for a dogfight, but the balance always is changing so what's great now might not be great a year from now.
