If a Dev spawns on your server, there will be a mission called "Running the Gauntlet" that everyone can accept. It places a God marker on the Dev for the entire server to track. Cue chaos. Great to see another vid from you come across my feed!
@@WingZeroType so here’s my question I watched your video. Why is it that every time a ship comes out and it’s pretty good stats and things like that it’s always paid to win. Why is that I said where did you get paid to win out of this?
@@leeproffitt69 this is a ship that is very powerful in the current game balance, very likely the best heavy fighter. But you can't buy it in-game right now and its most likely not going to be available for a long time, until at least squadron 42 ships
Really love how focused you are on bounty hunting, loadouts, alpha strikes, equipment limitations/ideal slot items etc. I have played probably 10 times since backing in 2016, looking to get back into it. I suck at flying so I want to spend some time in arena commander but this is really helping me come up to speed on what's changed since I last played in 2019.
Thank you so much for the lovely compliment, it really means a lot to me. Welcome back to the game - I'm happy to answer any other questions you have if you come across something that you're not familiar with.
I’m glad I bought the ship mainly because I absolutely appreciate what it stands for in the ‘Verse. I love the lore behind the idea that the military F8A variant is the best space superiority fighter in the imperial fleet. I love that it’s renowned for its combat prowess. And god damn it looks gorgeous to boot. Its actual in-game combat capability didn’t really matter too much to me. I melted all of the light fighters I’d owned just so I could have this as soon as it came back onto the store.
I totally respect that. I've got some "heart before head" ships as well :) Fortunately for you, this ship's in-game capabilities seem to match quite well with it's lore, at least for now :)
When a word is introduced into the English language, it follows the rules of the English language; so Scorpiuses is correct. Before you ask, this also holds true for Octopuses (despite popular belief) and similar words. Source: Proficient English user and knower of Latin (Octopus has a Greek origin anyway and wouldn't even be Octopi if this weren't true - it would be Octopodes - just to get ahead of that).
thanks for sharing man! I've found that the front shield bug seems to impact the F8C a bit less than other ships. I think it's because the weapons are so spread out, that they hit various parts of the target and so some shots will hit the sides and get triggered past the front shields. I've also had some fun tonight screwing around with 6 distortion repeaters and 2 lasers. It's not super efficient, but its a lot of fun watching enemies just fall to the ground lol
@@eavdmeerhahaha melting and buying with credits is always an option! I got this ship b/c it won't be available in-game for who-knows-how-long, whereas most other ships can be had in-game pretty easily.
@@WingZeroType I'm quite proud to say that, after 2.5 years in SC, I only have a cutter and a Titan in my hangar and a Pisces from an upgrade of the Argo Cargo referral bonus. This would have to be a warbond purchase
The only thing this ships needs as a nerf if the size 2 shield split. Nothing else should change. In terms of dueling the arrow is still king, the hornets are good team fights. The only good thing about this ship is it speed, which it should keep.
i'd be ok with that. The only reason I keep mentioning it is because I don't want to mislead people into buying this and then it getting nerfed and they're surprised. So i want to make sure people know it's a possibility.
@WingZeroType I value your experience and insight. Would you mind giving me your opinion for your best choice of Bounty hunting ship currently in game? VHRT/ERT.
@@Hinru13Hey! So if you want to do VHRTs and ERTs and you're doing them outside of Crusader/Hurston space, I'd say the torpedo ships (eclipse/retaliator) fitted with IR Typhoon IX missiles. If you're looking for actual combat, then I'd say the Ares Ion. If you're talking about doing group bounties as well, then I'd say the Vangaurds and the F8C are in that mix as well, since the lower-shield and lower-hp enemies in the group bounties are easily wiped up by the other heavy fighters. The larger high dps ships like the Hercules, Constellations, Corsair, and 600i all have the dps to do the job but in the current patch where we have a lot of laser damage penetrating shields they can be a bit tougher to use, since while you're "tanking" damage with your shields you're really losing a lot of hull HP. Those are all great options, dps-wise and if the shield holes issue is fixed they all work as well. They're a slower pace of gameplay, but they're safer. Whereas the heavy fighters are a faster pace of gameplay, getting to the target and getting away quickly while taking a bit longer to actually kill the target.
I tried a F8C out on loan and really enjoyed flying it. It feels like a more robust Buccaneer to me and you can always have plenty of fun with so much firepower at your disposal. I think it will fit in really well as that top tier ship you eventually get your hands on in the SQ42 campaign. I don’t do pvp so I’ve no idea if the F8C is overpowered for that but for pve it feels about right. A lot of firepower but still not that strong that you can just face tank damage trying to unload a full capacitor into a target! I don’t see the need for CIG to nerf the ship. Even they wouldn’t be daft enough to repeat the Ares Ion debacle 😂
hahaha I think the Ares Ion debacle was a combination of lack of communication and timing. They knew they were going to nerf it, they should've said so during the sale. For this ship, they have confirmed that they intend for it to have 2xs2 front-back shields. And it has a heavy fighter capacitor and the guns were already downsized from the F8A. So the main thing that's left is to play with it's speed/handling. I could imagine them nerfing that a bit, because given how small and tanky the ship is it's a bit quick, making it a bit too good in all areas. It needs *some* tradeoff other than not having a bed lol.
@@WingZeroType The only thing which need to be changed, if it comes to the F8C Lightning, is its shields from "bubble" to "sided". Why every time the developers manage to create something good, players start complaining. In response to those complaints the developers sometimes nerf the weapon or ship, which in turn makes the players complain even more.
I'd prefer the Vanguard. This does one thing very well but that's it. Lack of an interior discounts so much emergent gameplay. Like you said, the F8 won't even be great for bounties once it's necessary to bring them in alive.
Yeah absolutely, plus the vanguard has more missiles and the s5 hardpoint gives you some more flexibility to use different types of weapons like the c-788 and distortion scatterguns, once those things are good again :)
@SMhydra. It may not be ideal for PvP, but it's a minting machine when it comes to PvE. Overall, you can use the Vanguard to earn the UEC to buy an Arrow, Gladius, or Blade for PvP purposes; or you can get lucky and get a free F8C Lightning 😉.
But, it’s not a bounty hunting ship. It’s basically an F22. It has one job and that is to intercept and kill other ships of its size or 1 bigger. It was never meant to be the next big bounty killer. It will also never be necessary to bring bounties in alive. There are not enough ships that have the facilities for that. The avenger being the only one.
hahaha yeah I know, that was a tidbit in there for those that hang out in the twitch. They got me to say that a bunch of times before i realized what i was saying lol.
I ended up melting my Super Hornet for this and honestly I don't regret it, I enjoyed the feel of flying this over SH (Though I do intend to rebuy the SH package for the SQ42 and the other stuff included in it)
yeah this ship flies so well it's hard to find fault with it right now lol. It is a dedicated heavy fighter for a solo pilot though, so this is what it's supposed to do.
@@WingZeroType yeah, and I get that it will be changed down the line since balancing and "Gold Standards" but I am not going to mind it too much, especially when flight system can change at a whim too lol also helps that SH is essentially similar (where it's only role is also a dedicated fighter, with an additional gunnery seat)
Big fan of your content! For Vangaurd, I've been using the AD5b and repeaters, is the loadout choice now all lasers with the ballistic hull buff thing? Thanks!
Thank you so much! Personally, I don't like mixing weapon projectile speeds so I would use an AD5B with MVSAs if I was going to do that, but honestly for the Vanguard I'd probably go all-lasers because there's only one size 5 so mixing damage types won't be as good IMO. Butttt plenty of people like the AD5B/MVSA loadout since it gives the MVSAs more shots, so if you feel like that works better for your playstyle I'm not going to knock it.
@@WingZeroType I appreciate the advice! the Ad5b doesn't seem to do the damage it used to for sure! I'll try lasers all around and see how that goes! keep up the great content!
@@Kingsoupturbo Thank you! I will say that full ballistic fits are actually quite solid in this patch b/c of the high shield penetration and the higher shields of enemies and the infinite front s2 shield bug, but that obviously requires reloading somewhat frequently. But it works as long as you can fit an AD-series gatling
Yeah the Ion is very strong now, definitely S-tier for pve. Distortion being great for pvp was something I wasn't aware of, admittedly I don't do a lot of pvp so I didn't realize people were using that. Thanks for letting me know!
@@WingZeroType right now size two distortion repeaters do double their listed damage because of a glitch. They shut down opponents guns quickly and ships shortly after. I ran them on my f8 last night on some bounties and shut down several vanguards, hammerheads, and redeemers.
i do like running a mix of of weapon types on this thing because of how many guns it has. one build i like is 2 s3 mass drivers, 2 s2 distortion repeaters on the turret and 4 s2 laser repeaters. the laser repeaters each have 50 shots, the distortions each have 25 shots. giving you plenty of fire time on the energy weapons the mass drivers are there for the high alpha damage and for downing ships that have been disabled by the distortions. the other build i like in 4 s2 distortion repeaters on the gimballs and the rest laser repeaters. distorion weapons do not share the same capacitor as the lasers so you do get more ammo in the laser repeaters if you replace some with distortions. This build also lets you keep pressure on by swapping between distortion use and laser use since by the time you run out with one damage type the other has fully recharged. These builds probably aren't the most efficient for ship bounties but damn are they the most fun.
distortion does share the same capacitor as weapons, they just have a lower priority in pulling cap from the ship cap so the laser weapons get more of the cap than the distortion weapons do. If you want to see the proof of that, turn off your distortion weapons and you'll see that your laser weapons will get more capacitor. But I totally agree, the large number of weapons lets you run some fun loadouts lol. I do enjoy disabling enemies and then just slowly following them to the ground :D
Great video and I will try this FL-22 loadout. One suggestion I'd make is to set the weapon fire to "alternating". It looks so much cooler and gives a 'repeater' vibe despite being cannons.
Excellent review, but I think I'll stick to my Warden. I just love the big brutes, and the ability to log out in the thing is a huge plus... assuming it isn't bugged again...
Thanks a bunch! and yeah it totally makes sense. I think this is in solid competition with the vanguards and the Ares and I'm happy to have another heavy fighter.
Sorry for the noob question, just trying to learn. Why do you not aim at the little aim here and fire square thing? You seem to hit still. Is there a better way to fight? Thanks!
he has selected a different type of aiming pip called a "lag" pip. The default is a "lead" pip which makes a targeting square ahead of the target and then you aim at that, which is what you are probably familiar with. The Lag pip has a targeting square trailing off your crosshair that shows where your shots will likely land, and then you try to put that on top of your target. People will swear up and down that one is objectively better than another, but frankly it just comes down to simple personal preference.
ConnorJensen answered the question perfectly :) I prefer lag pip because the box shows me where my shots are going to land, so i can try to place them on certain parts of the enemy more easily. But it is ultimately personal preference. Either way, you're aiming at the same spot, it's just about where you're looking at the reticule.
@@Krltplps Just to note, if you target a ship's subcomponents, the lead pip will move to reflect that. So you're not just limited to "center of mass" shots with it.
How do you find Staggered firing for laser cannons? Is it more or less efficient than the normal firing mode? Another thing, you might want to keep laser repeaters on all the times, because it seems since F8 was released, some murder hobos just go around and try to pvp everyone else in an F8, lol. Laser cannons are a big no-no for pvp because of the 700ms travel speed.
I think staggered vs non-staggered is just a personal preference thing. If you wanted to look at efficiency, non-staggered would be slightly more efficient b/c staggered would wait fractions of a second before firing the next gun whereas non-staggered fires all the guns as soon as it can. But we're probably talking less than 1% difference overall, so honestly just use whatever feels better for you. I prefer non-staggered because I like high alpha. And as far as murder hobos... i haven't encountered that yet. But unless they have a quantum interdiction with them, i'll just fly away lol.
@@brockoala2994The laser cannons fire so fast anyway I don't really see too much of a need personally. I really think its just a personal preference thing. If you find it easier to go staggered then go for it! I have tried it and i don't like it, i prefer higher alpha
@3:20, you mentioned that the Vanguard is faster in quantum, this is false. The Vanguard can equip the XL-1 QT which has a top speed of 260k km/s The Lightning can equip the VK-00 QT which has a top speed of 283k km/s
Right, that's true about their top speeds! But the drives have multiple stages of speed. The stage one and stage two speeds for the XL-1 are significantly higher than the corresponding speeds for the VK-00. So for the gameplay we have now, the XL-1 is faster to get anywhere around stanton. But what about larger systems, where the VK-00 can spend more time at its higher top speed? Well then we run into fuel issues. S1 quantum drives tend to be in ships without massive quantum tanks. In the F8C, a VK-00 will take longer (9.5mins) to go its maximum distance of 116 million KM than it'd take an XL-1 in a vanguard (8 mins). So basically, unless you get a ship with a s1 quantum drive and a much larger quantum fuel tank, the XL-1 drive will always beat the VK-00. I hope this makes sense!
The Lightning does have another problem - it is incredibly expensive to repair. You can easily run 40-90k for repairs if you aren't careful, which is wild, but also what I expect from a cutting edge plane.
@@WingZeroType Maybe! In my experience a ~x00 credit repair easily becomes ten times that in the F8. It's manageable if you aren't getting smacked every bounty, but it's still quite significant compared to its competitors. Not that I'm complaining, it's both thematic and a good way to balance it outside of raw stats.
@@brockoala2994Agreed the Ion is better for bigger targets, which is good b/c that's what the Ion is supposed to be fighting. For the F8, I am not sure if it's still viable at ERT-level, I have to do some more testing with distortion. But generally, I think most ships aren't particular efficient at ERTs except for the torpedo ships, and VHRTs are so much easier than ERTs that it makes sense to just speed through VHRTs for money purposes.
@@WingZeroType But there's a cooldown on group VHRT, do you just run single VHRTs meanwhile? I usually switch between group VHRT and group ERT, finding it making me most money per hour. I use either Ion or Corsair. Since only big guns like that can take down the 890J in ERT in a reasonable amount of time. The F8 can too, but currently there's a shield hole bug on it, which makes long engagement dangerous. I usually lose parts after each ERT mission on the F8, forcing me to go repair.
@@brockoala2994Yep i'll just typically run a couple of VHRTs while waiting for another group to pop up. I could run a group ERT in the middle if i had a high dps ship, but for ships that are fast at getting to and from the target, doing VHRTs in between is often more money (and less risk) than trying to take down an ERT. Depends on the target, of course. Hammerheads are scary and dangerous, but none of the others (890J, Redeemer, A2) are.
Yep I've had my quantum drive (center rear of the ship) get really damaged multiple times, so there's definitely some vulnerability to the ship. But yeah I think the ten gun setup is a bug that's going to get fixed, so I didn't mention it :)
Exactly, it may turn faster than a Vanguard, it may have more DPS currently, but wait till armor is a thing and the Vanguard will have an advantage against bigger ships thanks to it's bigger guns. Also, no interior, and the Inferno has more DPS. This ship is right where it should be as soon the shields are the way they're supposed to be. People stop whining, ships don't need nerfes, older inferior ships need buffs instead.
haha not directly. I've got a couple other videos in the pipeline before the next tier list. Those things take me FOREVER to make so its hard to do one for every single patch, especially when not much changes. That said, a LOT changed for 3.20 so I'm definitely going to make another list, just got a couple more vids to make first :D
I managed to lose a main engine due to a missile impact that I could not avoid. Oh boy this baby does not fly well with only one engine! It definitely still has its weak spots
yes definitely, I lost a single retro thruster once and the ship was basically uncontrollable. Everything else was full hp but only that one thruster was at 0%. So there are definitely some random situations where the enemy gets a lucky hit and you get death star'd lol
My issue with this ship's "balancing", is that they let us fly it before we bought it. Which turns it into a bait-and-switch, which then allows for a class action lawsuit.
wait i don't get it. Why is it a bait and switch? We know stuff is constantly changing. When we get master modes, everything will be upturned. And everything will be upturned again when armor is implemented. And when things are rebalanced for multiple star systems, and so forth and so forth.
It will probably lose a s2 sheild, an amount of agility, and the ability to put turrets on the s3 wing slots when it gets balanced. Hopefully it will stay more agile than its competition. It fills out its role of being a warplane well and is nicely limited to said role
Yeah the turrets on the wings is clearly a bug since the weapons clip, so that will get fixed. And then it might lose a shield or some agility, but it might not. It's very strong right now but it's not OP to the level that the Ion was when it initially released. But yeah I'm totally expecting it to get tuned down a bit, just for expectation setting.
Don’t know if you mention it later in the video or left it out bc it will get fixed but you can atach the turret onto the wing hard points for even more dps
It has more QT fuel than a Vanguard which is supposed to be long-range, but no fuel scoop and less efficient size QT drive so probably ok. S1 quantum drives are pretty bad.
Not sure what it's "supposed" to have, but I'm ok with them balancing the ship as they need to so that it's in line with other ships of its class. It does have a healthy fuel tank, but the S1 quantum drive hurts that a bit.
I was asking since I didn't know if the f8 was intended to be a long distance fighter or not since I've been out of the loop for a few months '^^ but if it's not then I'm wondering why they wont just give all fighters 2.5k fuel for now untill they rebalance/rework it, seeing as some new ships seem that have the same as long distance ships "defender" anyways. I would fly the buccaneer a lot more often if it had more fuel :)
There will be a priority mission called "Running the Gauntlet" that happens. That mission is about getting the platinum ticket. its its not there. theres no ticket. you must get the ticket and take it to a buy kiosk to get the ship
If youre using a vanguard with all lasers including the S4 or 5 - you're doing vanguard wrong.....Slap a deadbolt or AD5B on the nose and make the rest MVSA's. THAT's how you Vanguard....
I'm the kind of person who thinks everyone should play the way that makes them happy, it's a game afterall. That said, there's no way that a full laser cannon build is wrong lol.
@@WingZeroType You get way more mag capacity without having a massive S4/5 laser hogging it all. Thats why I feel comparing these loadouts to a vanguard with an all laser loadout isnt really fair. The vanguards cap just cant handle all lasers.
@@CoyoteOneI respectfully disagree. I think there's no issue with the s5 laser on the vanguard, you just need to use a bit of trigger discipline and time when you pull the trigger. If you go with ballistics, you only get about 10% more dps (due to ballistic damage resistance on hulls) and you are stuck reloading somewhat frequently, and that downtime is way worse than losing a tiny bit of dps by sharing the capacitor.
I would not be surprised if it gets moved down to the 4xS1s it originally had. But it is supposed to be the best carrier based solo fighter so I hope it remains dominate in 1v1 duals.
yeah I get the lore reasons but I think for game balance they can't just make one ship better than all the others because then you'd never see people flying anything else for combat.
It's just too expensive. It has awesome firepower and looks greats. But what else? It's 50 € more expensive than my Constellation Andromeda but offers so much less beside the agility. I'll definitly stay with my Conny and don't think that I'll ever need to upgrade to another ship.
That's the art of selling ships, put a massive $10k price on it and when you drop down to $260, it's instant buy without a second thought for most people.
I LOOOOOOVE the connie, so you've got no disagreement from me there. I think most people probably shouldn't get this ship. I wouldn't have gotten it if I wasn't creating content for this youtube channel. It's quite pricey, a bit more than all the other heavy fighters, and it can't be CCU'd so you can't even get much savings on it like you can with other ships like the Ares, Vanguards, and Scorpius. But it's a specialized ship, so it makes sense that the things that it specialized in are awesome, at the cost of all the other things
@@DaBigCheese75hmm... i'm not sure. Currently i still like a vanguard more than it because the vanguard is more flexible. And with CCU chaining, you can get a vanguard for around that price (if not a bit lower). So if I'm being perfectly honest, i'd probably have let this be a "buy in game" if it wasn't for content creation. I also have a glaive for the exact same reason (CCU'd to cost $210 instead of the 350).
only $10,000 if you don't do the event! Because you don't need to spend the additional $260! lol. But i completely agree, this is not at all necessary to buy. It's got a solid competitor in the Vanguard and even the Ares, which are both available in-game.
@@eavdmeerooof yeah thats a bit much. But it's only a bit more than other heavy fighters. The vanguards are all around the same price range, with the main difference being you can get CCU chain savings for them where you can't for this thing. Oh well... hope CIG enjoys their cash infusion lol
You should have shown the overlay of the F8C with the Ares. F8C and Ares are nearly identical in size, the wings on the ares are just a tiny bit bigger and the engines are a tiny bit further back. Ares also has 2xS2 shields, so 2xS2 shields on a ship this size is fine. The maneuverability of the F8C is also in a pretty good place, all it needs is a top speed nerf and a roll rate nerf, F8C has less maneuverability than the Scorpius and it only has 4 deg/s more Pitch and 2 deg/s more Yaw than the Vanguards
I agree the Ares is also a good comparison, it's another heavy fighter that competes with this F8C. I think the Ares is definitely bigger than the F8C - similar to how the F8C is bigger than the Hornet. But yea I think some nerfs from the mobility side are probably warranted. Keep in mind the stats for pitch/roll/yaw don't take into account the jerk profile of the ship - the F8C is more responsive than a vanguard. But yeah all these minor things add up. I think it doesn't *need* a nerf - it is a specialized ship afterall with no flexibility in its role.
.. what is going to happen is this .. they over stocked it with stats to appeal to the purchase price.. and then they will scam everyone by doing a nerf once they made all ther money of it and when they do it will be past their refund period
Maybe. But EVERYONE EVERYWHERE is saying that, so anyone who isn't expecting a nerf at this point is living under a rock which is located under a larger rock.
Why would this ship get nerfed ? It’s already a weaker version of the military F8A. Everyone said the Corsair and redeemer would get nerfed and well, that never happened. People can soyjak all they want when a ship is good. The point of this ship is to be good. There is nothing this ship can do that others can’t. It all just depends on the pilot. An Ion will 1 or 2 shot you if you’re not a shit pilot, should it be nerfed again ?
@@joshhobson2340 it should be nerfed it it outperforms the game's balance envelope. I struggle to follow your argument, you're saying that because this ship has guns and other ships have guns, we can make this ship as good as we want? Also, the corsair had completely garbage agility, and still does. It didn't need a nerf when it was released. It actually needed buffs (which it got). I don't know about the redeemer b/c I wasn't paying attention to that upon release. Also, an ion can't oneshot anything right now. 2-3 shots on the weakest targets seems to be how it goes. And I think that's fine as long as it's agility is sufficiently difficult to manage.
You say... In the future... Blah blah blah Ten years ago they said stuff that still is not here. So when they say in the future, take it as ten to fifteen years away.
Yep its no secret that the progress is slow. But since this is a ship that people have to acquire with money (vs in-game) I wanted to give people additional information before committing their actual money to it.
People need to stop screaming OP and trying to make changes to ships when we still dont have all the required systems in place for combat.. MAINLY FREAKING ARMOR, which is a huge deal. Also The Current Meta favors More guns over bigger guns. Their is no difference between the gun sizes in range and damage due to them having been reset back in 3.16, hopefully this will not always be the case in the future. the 2nd big thing to consider is if/when armor EVER freaking comes out, having more small guns, over fewer larger guns will also hurt your ability to engage larger a larger pool of potential targets. if you have a S2 gun that will likely be ignored by anything larger than a heavy fighter, while the S3s will likely be ignored by anything above Fast attackcraft size. Example a S2 gun would do full damage to C1 and C0 armor., 70 ish % to C2 (light fighter armor). 35% to (C3 medium fighter armor), and roughly 15-16% to (C4 heavy fighter armor) with zero damage to any armor C5 and higher. (sounds crappy right? well keep in mind this is the civilian version with smaller guns across the board than the military one) your S3s guns would be alittle better because they are larger moving that potential target spread upto S5 Fast attack craft/sub corvette size ships. These S3 guns would do full damage to C0-2 armor, C3 armor would take 70%, c4 would take 35, and again c5 would take 15-16% damage.. but the thing is you only have 2 of them. with this example you can see how the armor system will change everything and make you think about what is the better ship/loadout for your situation, do you want a dedicated anti fighter fighter with high maneuvering, high dps and many small guns like the F8/Scorpius has? Or do you want something with more punch and ability to pick away at larger targets like a vanguard/glave, or going all in on "anit-big ship", one of the ares fighters. With this example you can see how this fighter while seemingly really good right now, will be completely unable to harm corvette size ships and up and will only really tickle C5 armor equipped Gunships/Fast attack type ships like the conny, redeemer, corsair, A2 etc etc. So i really dont think it needs sweeping nerfs or changes, i think its nearly perfect right now. all it needs are the shield holes fixed and the front/back type change. the missile swapping bug fixed, and the 10 gun wing turret bug fixed, and for the armor system to come into the game and the weapons to get their pass and make them not uniform anymore.
I'm aware of the impact of armor, and also the fact that master modes is going to drastically change things in the future as well. No longer are we likely to have a battle 600i explorer lol. Those are two systems that will upend the entire combat balance as we know it. But for now, we have what we have. And for now, the ship clearly outperforms others in the same class. In 2-20 years when we get armor, I'll make another video about all the ships and where they stand then :)
@@WingZeroType but its suppose to out preform the other ships... its an anti fighter fighter.. do you scream at a hammer for driving nails? no cuz you get a hammer to hammer nails.. so why when someone does its job in SC do people rage about it and scream OP? its insanity.
@@TheAngriestGamer.who's screaming and raging? I just said it probably needs some tuning. Which it probably does. It can be an anti-fighter-fighter and that's fine. I'm ok with it being good at that. But it needs to have a weakness to something else in return.
@@WingZeroType its weakness is it will be unable to deal with bigger ships (like AT ALL) when armor comes out because all it has is alot of tiny guns. yes its the 2nd best turning heavy fighter in the game, but Light and most medium fighters are still more maneuverable than this thing, its hard to get guns on vs a good pilot. its other weakness is it doesnt carry anything, it has the fewest missiles of any heavy fighter, so its not good for general content unlike the other fighters, and u cant be far from a base because you need to eat and drink as this thing doesnt have a compartment where you can take ur helmet off to do that like the vanguards. its ONLY anti fighter, again its perfectly fine as is. i dont understand why SC players think only combat ships should not beable to do their 1 and only job. this is what im talking about with SC players ruining their own game, its like saying a cargo ship is OP cuz it carries cargo, so it should be limited in some way to not carry cargo.. like for examples sake, releasing a C2 at 1000 cargo, then saying Its OP lets make it 350 cargo instead. Fuckin Why???.. it literally only does 1 thing, it should do that thing well. Their is no problem, it doesnt need nerfed. it does need alot of bug fixes, and it needs armor to come into the game, then it will be fine. that will tone it down quite abit, you will see, just plz stop advocating for them to "tune" it, because they will destroy it like the ares fighters.
@@Pratchet_ REEEEEE.. Hes right though, CIG is Octi-polar (several orders of magnitude beyond bi-polar) when it comes to deceitful marketing tactics, lying, FOMO, Calculated releases to maximize profits, and switch-a-roos when it comes to nerfing things conveniently right after that 21 day refund window has expired. but im sure that's just a re-occurring coincidence right? my favorite thing is what they did to the ares fighters.. the Inferno should of had 7200 dps, and the ion 6000 dps. but they nerfed the crap out of them because they "skill issue checked, light fighters" even though they arguably didnt have enough dps do do their intended job even on launch back in the day with their 4600 and 3800dps launch stats. Heck the ion isnt even an energy cannon/sniper anymore. its more like a heavy repeater with its high ROF. what they should of done is make them flying Whales to nerf them, rather than kill any ability to do their 1 and only job. but that would of been the smart thing to do and this is CIG were talking about here.
I think the platinum ticket is totally a crapshoot and I've basically discounted that for myself. But the golden ticket's are really common, doesn't take much time at all to get it. And I don't think there's anything wrong with requiring some time spent in-game to unlock things, that's pretty common in pretty much every MMO or RPG. I just wish they didn't have the FOMO tactics of it being limited to a short event.
I think they also did it this way to make sure that those who want it get it rather than having to wear out F5:on your keyboard before bots could buy the limited number available online.
@@Drifterwww1yeah i think the way they did this was totally fine. Ideally, they'd have it announced beforehand so people can plan accordingly but at the end of the day it's just a single ship in a single game.
Dude, all your "balancing factors" argument is really poor. Everything you mentioned is not a balancing feature, these are fighter limitations and the same apply to the Hornet, Ares, Scorpius, Gladius, Arrow....and every other fighter in the game, either being light, medium or heavy. It is the most expensive of these ships and it clearly delivers with in game performance, so if the argument is about pay to win, then yes, you defenitely get much more with this ship with any other in the same class.
I feel like you just made my point for me... The game should absolutely not be pay to win. Every ship (except maybe the starters) should have some sort of pro/con to it beyond just price. Otherwise it will erode the fairness of the game. This is *especially* prevalent in the case of the F8C since it's only available for real-money. If it was available in-game, I'd be much more lenient on its balance. But since its only available for real money (and a *lot* of it) the fact that it's so strong is a problem for the health of the game.
I'm not sure if you're running into an issue with your ship. Which hard points can't you fit? It's working fine for me, and everyone else that I know that has one.
I'm not sure about that, I think its strong but I don't think its completely OP. Why do you think it's significantly better than other heavy fighters? (other than the Scorp which could use a buff)
@@WingZeroType I don't disagree, but my point is this: This plane is beatable, easily in fact. By the top 1% of players. The rest are getting absolutely shafted.
Dislike for your pathological denial of the F A C T of the macro-transaction pay to win reality of star citizen. The damn thing costs 300$. If you don’t pay, you are gonna lose.
Respect (and like) for owning your POV. But I'm not denying anything, man. You definitely can pay to get access to ships which others would take TONS of hours to grind for. There are a few ships which are purchase-only as well, the glaive and the F8C are the two in game other than the limited ships that are no longer offered at all. It leaves a super bad taste in my mouth for the glaive, but the F8C will be available by playing sq42 (which I guess is psuedo pay-to-acquire since you need another game). But as long as the ship is relatively balanced with the other options available in game, it's less p2w than p2acquire, which is what i was trying to say with my usage of the meme. But also, I was hoping to make people have a laugh. Thanks for checking out my video, and for telling me what you thought about it. I really do appreciate it.

BigDurt here, Another fun load is 2 s3 distortions and 6 neutrons. This set up doesn’t care about the front shield bug. Great videos as always.
thanks for sharing man!

@WingZeroType thank you so much for such a detailed response. I appreciate how much time you take to make such informative videos also.
Great content man, nice polished editing! :)
Thanks a bunch! I really appreciate that feedback :)
Meh vanguard is a flying pig that can't even kill an arrow lol
@SMhydra. It may not be ideal for PvP, but it's a minting machine when it comes to PvE. Overall, you can use the Vanguard to earn the UEC to buy an Arrow, Gladius, or Blade for PvP purposes; or you can get lucky and get a free F8C Lightning 😉.
was wondering about the c-788. Would u choose them over the deadbolt?@@WingZeroType
You said "OPness" 😏Love your videos as always!

@@WingZeroType yeah, and I get that it will be changed down the line since balancing and "Gold Standards" but I am not going to mind it too much, especially when flight system can change at a whim too lol
also helps that SH is essentially similar (where it's only role is also a dedicated fighter, with an additional gunnery seat)
Distortion/repeaters is great for PVP -- Ion is still my go-to for VHRT and ERT. It's just a beast.

HE CAME OUTTA NOWHERE!
i do like running a mix of of weapon types on this thing because of how many guns it has.
one build i like is 2 s3 mass drivers, 2 s2 distortion repeaters on the turret and 4 s2 laser repeaters. the laser repeaters each have 50 shots, the distortions each have 25 shots. giving you plenty of fire time on the energy weapons the mass drivers are there for the high alpha damage and for downing ships that have been disabled by the distortions.
the other build i like in 4 s2 distortion repeaters on the gimballs and the rest laser repeaters. distorion weapons do not share the same capacitor as the lasers so you do get more ammo in the laser repeaters if you replace some with distortions.
Great video, as always
Thankssss!
great summary!
Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it!
Great video and I will try this FL-22 loadout. One suggestion I'd make is to set the weapon fire to "alternating". It looks so much cooler and gives a 'repeater' vibe despite being cannons.

Thanks a bunch! and yeah it totally makes sense. I think this is in solid competition with the vanguards and the Ares and I'm happy to have another heavy fighter.
@WingZeroType the size 5 is another selling point. Eventually, armor will be a thing, and those bigger guns will matter.
@@connorjensen9699 Neat, learned something today. Thank you both!
@@WingZeroType Neat, learned something today. Thank you both!
@@WingZeroType I mean in staggered you'd get hits on target easier, so would make it easier to keep light fighters from regening their shields.

The Vanguard can equip the XL-1 QT which has a top speed of 260k km/s
The Lightning can equip the VK-00 QT which has a top speed of 283k km/s
Well that's really only if you lose weapons. otherwise the repairs aren't too bad I've found
@@WingZeroType Maybe! In my experience a ~x00 credit repair easily becomes ten times that in the F8. It's manageable if you aren't getting smacked every bounty, but it's still quite significant compared to its competitors. Not that I'm complaining, it's both thematic and a good way to balance it outside of raw stats.
So...does it dethrone the reigning bounty champ? And how long will that last given what they did to the ares?
Right now, I think so thanks to the better mobility. But honestly it's pretty darn close. I think both ships are going to be S-tier.
Think I'll be sticking with the Ion for pve.
Yep the Ion is still super good in 3.20, definitely a solid contender
@@WingZeroType and Ion does ERT much better than F8, which viability stops at VHRT.
You can make it ten guns.. yes ten guns.. and it still has a good weakness to missiles. I got one shot, the front side wings are really weak.
Who's whining?
You working on a 3.20 tier list yet?

haha not directly. I've got a couple other videos in the pipeline before the next tier list. Those things take me FOREVER to make so its hard to do one for every single patch, especially when not much changes.
But yeah I'm totally expecting it to get tuned down a bit, just for expectation setting.

is it supposed to have almost as much QT fuel as a defender?
It has more QT fuel than a Vanguard which is supposed to be long-range, but no fuel scoop and less efficient size QT drive so probably ok. S1 quantum drives are pretty bad.
Not sure what it's "supposed" to have, but I'm ok with them balancing the ship as they need to so that it's in line with other ships of its class. It does have a healthy fuel tank, but the S1 quantum drive hurts that a bit.

but if it's not then I'm wondering why they wont just give all fighters 2.5k fuel for now untill they rebalance/rework it, seeing as some new ships seem that have the same as long distance ships "defender" anyways.

4xS1's would likely just make the ship even better for pvp, the regen time would be ~3 seconds for full shields.
yeah I get the lore reasons but I think for game balance they can't just make one ship better than all the others because then you'd never see people flying anything else for combat.
@@WingZeroType exactly, its game, it must be sort of balanced
thanks for buying the ship folks.......NOW FOR THE PAIN NERF! MUAHAHAHA CIG
Hahaha I'm still waiting for it. I think we'll see where everything lands after master modes comes out
It's just too expensive.
@@WingZeroTypewould you have gotten it for $190? I spent that much on the grey market for some store credit to purchase it
@@DaBigCheese75hmm... i'm not sure.
S tier ?
yes for VHRTs it definitely makes S-tier IMO.
Once CiG makes couple mill on this, it's gonna be nerfed so hard xD
robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals looks like they've already made 4M+ from it - bring on the nerfs! lol
Ship Logout is still Buggy as hell
really? I've been doing it consistently and it usually works. Occasionally I log back in to the station but i'd say it works 9/10 times?
Pretty ship but not $260 pretty, $10,260 if you don't do event.
Must be nice being rich enough to throw that much cash lol
only $10,000 if you don't do the event! Because you don't need to spend the additional $260! lol. But i completely agree, this is not at all necessary to buy. It's got a solid competitor in the Vanguard and even the Ares, which are both available in-game.
After taxes, the warbond version of this thing is the equivalent of about $320 where I live. Sooo, maybe not
@@eavdmeerooof yeah thats a bit much.
Another joke from CIG, 8 yesrs in the making.
It was supposed to be an SQ42 reward, but CIG needs money 😂
yeah it still is an SQ42 reward, but yeah not sure why they decided to sell it now. I hope their financial situation is fine.
.. what is going to happen is this .. they over stocked it with stats to appeal to the purchase price.. and then they will scam everyone by doing a nerf once they made all ther money of it and when they do it will be past their refund period
And I think that's fine as long as it's agility is sufficiently difficult to manage.
lol what my dude you can exchange it for the new hotness next year this is how star citizen works trust me bro ive been at this since alpha 2.0
@@420247paulI'm just getting it b/c its not going to be gettable in-game and I want it for content creation purposes lol
You say... In the future... Blah blah blah
Ten years ago they said stuff that still is not here.
35% to (C3 medium fighter armor), and roughly 15-16% to (C4 heavy fighter armor)
with zero damage to any armor C5 and higher. (sounds crappy right? well keep in mind this is the civilian version with smaller guns across the board than the military one)
your S3s guns would be alittle better because they are larger moving that potential target spread upto S5 Fast attack craft/sub corvette size ships.
@@WingZeroType its weakness is it will be unable to deal with bigger ships (like AT ALL) when armor comes out because all it has is alot of tiny guns. yes its the 2nd best turning heavy fighter in the game, but Light and most medium fighters are still more maneuverable than this thing, its hard to get guns on vs a good pilot.
its other weakness is it doesnt carry anything, it has the fewest missiles of any heavy fighter, so its not good for general content unlike the other fighters, and u cant be far from a base because you need to eat and drink as this thing doesnt have a compartment where you can take ur helmet off to do that like the vanguards.
its ONLY anti fighter, again its perfectly fine as is.
i dont understand why SC players think only combat ships should not beable to do their 1 and only job. this is what im talking about with SC players ruining their own game,
its like saying a cargo ship is OP cuz it carries cargo, so it should be limited in some way to not carry cargo.. like for examples sake, releasing a C2 at 1000 cargo, then saying Its OP lets make it 350 cargo instead.
1337 ;-)
Love it that you noticed that ;)
if your "special" and/or delve into the time to "earn" a ticket. nonsense. SC should be so much more than these shenanigans.
F8 is bugt…cant take 8 wepons only 6…
I'm not sure if you're running into an issue with your ship. Which hard points can't you fit? It's working fine for me, and everyone else that I know that has one.
It's bugged alright because it can take 10 weapons instead of 8😂
@@eavdmeershhhhh if we don't talk about it, it might not get fixed ;)
The f8c needs to be nerfed into the ground
I'm not sure about that, I think its strong but I don't think its completely OP. Why do you think it's significantly better than other heavy fighters? (other than the Scorp which could use a buff)
I can both out turn, out tank and out dps a vanguard, which is a two seater. That shouldn't be right.@@WingZeroType
@@kida4313sorry for the late response but out turning a 2-seater makes sense. Outdps-ing depends on the loadout though right?
