- Hey everyone! In this video my good friend Matt and I dive deep into the world of GT4 RS modifications and track setup! We’ll share our experiences and insights on enhancing the performance, safety, and overall driving experience of getting our GT4 RS optimized for the track.
We’ll explore a wide range of topics related to our GT4 RS mods, covering everything from wheels and tires to alignment, safety measures, interior upgrades, data acquisition systems, exhaust enhancements, and high-performance braking systems.
First off, we delve into the realm of wheels and tires, discussing how to get more rubber under the car. We'll share our insight into the parts needed to make this happen. Next up, we move on to track alignment, discussing proper camber, toe, and ARB settings. No GT4 RS upgrade is complete without addressing the exhaust system. Join us as we discuss the different exhaust options available, from enhancing the engine note to increasing power. We’ll then go over track brake upgrades to ensure consistent, fade-free, stopping power. Safety is paramount when pushing the limits on the track, and we emphasize the importance of equipping your GT4 RS with the necessary safety enhancements. From roll bars to harnesses we discuss the products that have worked for us. To track our progress and gather valuable data, we discuss the data acquisition systems and mounts that worked in our cars.

awesome content, thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Some good choices. I also run Ferodo DS3.12 brake pads. They do need to get warm to reach their intended performance level, so I take it 22:01 easy for the first lap and drag the brakes a bit. I just suction mount the Catalyst on the PCM display. It has not fallen off in a session.
The only negative I've found with the DS3.12 pads is their durability. The front pads only make it though two track weekends for me. My old favorites were the Race Technologies RE10 pads. I might give them a go on the 4RS and see how they hold up.
My Catalyst is having satellite reception issues in it's current location so I think I'm going to try a windshield mount location next. During my last track weekend it was dropping laps and complaining about the good laps not matching the track's location.
@@ItsTrackTime on the Ferodo durability, mine last much longer, but the tracks I drive have shorter straights where the top speeds entering the next turns are 10-20 mph slower than what you’ve reported. Might be the difference, not putting as much demand on them at the peak.
Awesome info and content. If I just want to get more rubber under the car without changing wheel width and adding camber plates, it sounds like I can’t go to 305 on the rear but could I possibly fit a 255 on the front?
Thanks!
I have run a set of 255/305 on my car with stock wheels and there was no rub but by that point I had already made the camber changes.
I just bought a GT4 RS and am now getting it ready for track use. I'm curious why you'd choose 20" wheels instead of 19" as there are more tire options for 19" setups. Hope to see you out at COTA mid-November
We're out at COTA all the time so look forward to seeing you and your car.
19" wheels open up slicks but if you use them Porsche will void your warranty.
Also the 19" dot tire options don't save you any $$ vs the 20" equivalents so I just stayed with 20s.
who told you that bs about voiding warranty? an overzealous dealer? the only slicks that you can get for 20" are Hoosiers, which are mid level tires, so for me it's 19" for greater tire selection. if there's ever an issue, put the 20" back on the car and take it in for warranty service.@@ItsTrackTime
if they are steel brakes you can go with 19s and will save both unsprung weight + more tire options, if you choose the PCCBs you can't and even if its extremly tight fitting you will risk your calibers hitting the inside barrel of wheel on high loads for sure
Hoosier R7 are DOT tires, not slicks, so they are fine for warranty work.
Yes the dealer is the one who told me slicks would void my warranty and they are the ones that make the call.
It is quite a bummer that a GT RS product requires so extensive changes to do sensible, 100% required changes in order to be properly exploited at the track.
To go fast on track you need to make changes.
To just go on track you don't.
@@ItsTrackTime you don't need a GT RS product just to "go on track" don't you? Any contemporary hothatch can very well handle light track usage
I've seen many GT4 RSs on track with just the factory setup.
As reviewers have shown they do very well.
However if you want to push your lap times down you need to make changes just like with any other streetable track car.
