  • The 718's mid-engined platform realized its sound and performance potential with the naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, powering the GTS 4.0 models, GT4 and Spyder. Our goal was to amplify that transcendent experience and deliver some extra performance while we're at it. Our product specialist and development driver John Gaydos goes over some of the basics of the 718 4.0 exhaust platform and the products we developed to improve it.

    Hey John, Nice video, love the 718 GTS 4.0 models with manual trans. My 987.2 Boxster with your complete headers and two way valve system with softtronics ECU map and Numerics shifter is still running great at 125k miles….who needs a stereo, eh 😎. Glad to see you are well and business is strong. Cheers, Tim

    Great tech talk video! I've got the OAP's and valved exhaust on my almost identical Spyder. Love how it sounds and I get tons of compliments on it. Talk me in to getting the headers!

    John, this was a great tech talk. Thanks for sharing it. You guys did excellent development work on the 718 4.0 platform, and I’m *super* happy with my competition OAP’s with valved muffler from Soul.
    I still may do headers (and probably switch to resonated OAP at that time) down the road. You folks make great products and your customer service is absolutely first rate. Love how you under promise and over deliver!

    So helpful.
    I have a 22 718 GT4.
    Considering Catted Headers, Overaxle Pipes and the Rear section.
    Was originally looking at JCR.

    FYI people don't drive on the right hand side of the car in Europe, only the UK. Mainland Europe has left hand drive cars. Would be great if you guys took fly by and static sound measurements with each setup. Biggest issue in the UK is each track has noise limits, and it'd help to know which setup is optimal for track without putting those nasty looking silenced tips on!

    Very nice talk and summary of all the options Soul offers. One question that could be answered, with the sport cat options, some of soul are just powder coated others have the jet hot coating on them, some are heat wrapped. All over various forms people have their opinion and some companies will warn do not wrap or coat the cats as it could cause premature failure. Soul does every option with the cats so thoughts on that would likely answer a lot of questions on the forums.

    Hi guys. Totally enjoyed the info on this video. I’ve checked on the website but can’t find the muffler price for the GT4RS. When do you expect that to be revealed? Apologies if it’s there and I haven’t found it…😎

      Hey there! Which muffler option are you interested in? We've got our Race exhausts (resonated and non-resonated) up now, and our Valved system is listed but coming soon.

    Great feature thank you, what are your thoughts on adding a split collar on the PSE valve actuator rods to stop them closing /

      cheap fun to play around with. Though if you just want them open all the time with no ability to close the valves, it's easier to just unhook the vacuum lines and plug them. The stock valves are default open via spring pressure : )

    Are the valves still closed at low RPM even if you have the sport exhaust selected near the stick shift?

    • @SoulPerformanceProducts
      @SoulPerformanceProducts  Год назад +1

      yes they are, same as the standard GT4 models to cater to European sound restrictions. You can rev it valves open, but as soon as you drive off they close and don't reopen until the mid rpm range.
