    I have an allocation for a PDK gt4 coming in a few weeks but I haven’t sold my manual g80 m3 yet that has midpipe and intake. I’m worried I’ll miss the torque but I know I’ll gain something else that’s amazing with driving dynamics and that engine sound

      it def did after the oap! congrats on your incoming GT4. Ideally you keep the G80 manual for daily and the PDK GT4 for track use but i totally get it!! I can tell you this, I had a friend who went from GT4 to G80 and he regretted it (had to bc he needed a family car). I am also a manual fan but the pdk is justt sooo good

      @@blendlinegarage42 Thanks! Bummer for your buddy though.. family first of course, and the G80 is great for that all around car. Ideally yeah I'd have both, but also have an electric "daily" for more casual driving. I'm thinking with that OAP + BMC filter it should feel plenty quick...I've only driven 1 pdk and 1 manual GT4/Spyder which were both modded w/ headers + tune, so dont have a fair comparison for stock. We'll see how it goes!

      yeah hopefully I can find a local GT4 with a that setup and we can do a comparison. Based on all the videos I've watched online, the OEM backbox and Akra OAP sound deeper. With JCR exhaust you get a much higher pitched tone (due to titanium construction)

    FYI - had my OTA pipes from SOUL coated in Jet-Hot Ceramic (lifetime warranty) and they look gorgeous with multiple colors to choose from...shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone who feels they need heat shielding. Oh my lord! Been waiting for the full vid as I saw some clips on insta! Is there much drone with this setup? I know you are are quite a stickler for any drone...but this to me is the perfect sound for the GT4.

    • @blendlinegarage42
      @blendlinegarage42  2 года назад +2

      thank you! drone has not got much worse. Most of the drone was introduced when I installed JCR exhaust. with OAP it is a bit louder but not by much. The way to avoid drone is to keep above 3K RPM. I agree with you, it sounds perfect! I am finally happy with the sound. That being said this maybe a bit too much if you plan on daily-ing the car which I don't.

      @@blendlinegarage42 Yeah, mine is not a daily either...track db limits in UK kinda suck though so that's my only real concern...having listened to videos where they do the headers too I think that gets too loud...so yeh, closest to GT3 sound is the setup you've got...I just completed break-in...so first few times getting up in the RPM range does sound pretty good from inside the car hehe...but I know I will need an exhaust

    Fun for a day or two. After that the 100db drone would get old. I've had a few Porsches. I like em so i can drive them around town and to track days without changing too many parts. But maybe your tracks don't have noise regs.

    • @blendlinegarage42
      @blendlinegarage42  2 года назад

      thats why you need multiple porsches :) one for daily, one for weekends. also not much droning in this setup once you are above 3k which i am constantly when driving this car. Texas tracks (cota and msr) dont have noise regs but the ones in California do.

    Do you think you will be considering headers as well in the future?
    As i get used to the sound i feel like i want something more.

    • @blendlinegarage42

      yeah actually my friend who was helping me ended up unscrewing the stud instead of the nut. so we ended up using the double backing nut method (or whatever its called) similar to the obsessed garage guy. That being said the other nuts came of loose no problem. All of them are double side threaded studs. One end is screwed into the cat flange the other side protruding where oap gets hung on and then bolt goes on the threaded stud clamping the oap flange to cat flange. it is def louder but in a good way (to my taste). Only downside is drone with jcr backbox at around 2500-3k

    That thing sounds nasty as fuck definitely the way to go with running an exhaust on this car it sounds good at literally all Rev ranges.... Readouts are based off a number of factors how the dyno is calebrated as well as temp altitude barometer etc. Also when doing these upgrades it may be wise to get a tune done to bring on the full effects of the upgrades even on a na car. Turbo car for example you do a downpipe intake intercooler piping etc you're not going to see any gains until you tune it.. I fact it may reduce the power until tuned... Also I understand it's frustrating but theirs nothing wrong with that plate getting bent as you tighten it down you're being way to nit picky about that. Also those high pressure clamps don't have anything that tells you okay it's too tight or tight enough so you kindof gotta eyeball it literally 1/4 turn too tight it'll snap

    Why are particulate filters used in US cars?

    • @blendlinegarage42
      @blendlinegarage42  2 года назад

      based on what I've read, its due to keeping the part variation low and speed the manufacturing process. It seems the US filters lack the necessary coating to trap the particles and burn them off, making them absolutely useless both from emission and performance perspective.
